If you've read books from Eckhart's Married in Montana series, you may remember Brandyne Parker (she was abandoned by a rodeo star leaving her alone with 5 kids). Well this series is about her sisters, the Parkers. Having lost one daughter to a wayward man, Mr. Parker is extremely protective of his 5 other daughters. So much so that he has built them each a cabin on his property where he can keep an eye on them. Between her overprotective father and a shortage of eligible men, Taz is shocked when she actually meets Jerry at an accident scene. While this romance is centered around an insta-love plot, it does have the great characterizations that we've come to expect from Eckhart. Definitely an enjoyable read.
A fast paced story, but too much happened too quickly for me, especially considering Taz's family history and what occurred with her older sister. I enjoyed the ending
On the way back to town with a patient in the back of the ambulance, Taz Parker, the town's only EMT, came ipon an accident scene. While talking to a man who had stopped at the scene, the rooky EMT in the ambulance took off and left Taz and Jerry O'Rourkd alone with a badly injured man and another who had parished in the accident.
TAZ was raised in a very close family and tgere were six daughters in all. The oldest daughter had eloped when she was very young and after many years had only recently reconnected with her family. Her parents were very vigilant about their daughters lives as they didn't want to lose another daughter.
Jerry made no secret of his interest in TAZ. Even when caught in a compromising situation with Taz, he did not back down. Although Taz finally agreed to live with him, there was trouble in paradise when Taz found out he had been married and things got completely out of hand when Taz came home and found his ex in their shower.
Lorhainne Exhardt has once again managed to create another family that is a shinning example of what famiky is. The Parkers are a strong, loving, supportive, parents. With five daughters to marry off, I look forward to more Parker family stories.
Thrill of the Chase is the first book in the Parker Sisters series and I loved everything about this story. The narration by Mary Jane Conlon was fantastic and the writing by Lorhainne Eckhart was great.
I'll talk about the narration first. This is my first audiobook performed by Mary Jane Conlon and I loved her voice. I tend to be hard on female narrators as I usually find their voices just not as pleasing to my ear as a male voice. Mary Jane Conlon is one of the three or four exceptions for me so far. Her phasing was perfect, the inflections in her voice match the text and she did a good job of differentiating between all of the character's voices. I'm pleased to learn that she also narrates another one of the books in this series.
Now, I'll talk about the story. I'll say right up front that this is pretty much an insta-love story so if you hate that then this book might not be for you. I don't mind insta-love at all especially since I know a few real-life couples who ended up being married for over 40 years after knowing each other a very short time.
Jerry O'Rourke is a businessman passing through town when he stops to help at a horrible accident he witnessed. Taz is an EMT and she stops her rig, even though she was transporting someone to the hospital, to see if she can help. Neither of them expects to ever see the other again; Jerry lives in another state. When they run into each other later at a diner they both know that they want to see each other again.
There are complications with Taz's family and also some fairly funny scenes where she and Jerry get caught in a compromising position more than once. In what I think of as Lorhainne Eckhart's trademarked style, Thrill of the Chase has all of the close-knit family elements that I've found in her Friessens series. This is a great start to a new series and I'm looking forward to reading/listening to the rest of them.
I won a copy of this audiobook from the author in a giveaway but no review was requested or required. My review is voluntary and not influenced by the author.
As I started this book, and subsequently listened to the audio book, I thought about how an almost 30 year old woman could stand having her parents treat her like she was 16?
This was a fast paced book. Taz met Jerry, and it was basically Insta love. I liked Taz, but I really thought she would have more backbone. Jerry was wrong for not sharing his past. I could not stand Jen. I would like for once in a book, when a man was in a situation like Jerry was with Jen, that he toss her and her clothes out into the hall or out the front door.
After the way Taz's parents behaved at the beginning of the book, her father really surprised me with his response to the situation. Also, the way Taz behaved, she did act more like a teenager than a grown woman.
Jerry and Taz resolved their issues so that they could move on to their HEA. I did expect more depth of characters, a longer relationship, more detail about their lives, and something about her EMT situation both at home and in Denver. This was a sweet, kind of light read/listen. The narration was ok.
Jerry was entire home to Denver when he saw the vehicle of the drunken pair who had passed him at high speed a few minutes ago, overturned off the road. He called 911 and was surprised to have an ambulance stop where he stood waving his hands on only moments. Taz was on her way to the hospital with another case, but seeing the truck off the road pulled over to investigate. She was unprepared for the beauty of the man who awaited her as she exited the driver's seat. Since there were few available men in the area, her eyes slid to his empty ring finger. Hummm. You won't want to miss the way things play out for these two. Her job, home, and family may be the three things that keep them apart. This is a cliff hanger that will leave you needing the beginning of the following book, at the very least. For me, I was left needing the rest of the series!
I’m very happy to begin a new series with this author, as I haven’t been disappointed yet! The new series is The Parker Series. Book 1 beings with Taz, am EMT who lives on her family’s property with her totally overprotective family. The main reason the family is so overprotective is that her oldest sister took off with a guy and wasn’t heard from for 15 years. It sounds like that relationship may be slowly rebuilding. Taz meets Jerry at the scene of an accident where her chauvinistic partner takes off with another patient and leaves her with no supplies or transportation. Jerry was not involved in the accident, just a Good Samaritan trying to get help for the victims. They accidentally meet in a diner the next morning and have an instant attraction. He doesn’t live in the area. With her family, how will they react? Read it and find out!
"Thrill of the Chase" is very far from other passionate, highly emotional novels of Ms Eckhart's. This book is a naive and sweet story, with quickly drafted characters and a simple plot. The dynamics of the relationship between the six Parker sisters and their parents are the central theme of the book, while all the events and individuals surrounding them stand in the background. I'm sure many readers will like the celebration of family values and the lighthearted plot. I tend to prefer more in-depth characters and serious themes. However, I liked well enough both the roles of Taz, the heroine, and of her father, who reveals an unexpected level of depth in the closing part of the story. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Opinions and comments are solely my own
She meets him at an accident scene. Jerry O’Rourke, a stranger passing through who stopped to help. EMT Taz Parker thanked the stranger and knew she wouldn’t see him again. Jerry had never felt so connected to a woman and so quickly. There was something about her that drew him to learn more about her. He knows that she has a very protective family, will he measure up to their expectations? Taz has never felt this way about a man, he intrigues her and sets her emotions on fire. Can she give up the life she has known and venture in to his world? How will she react when his past comes back to disturb their fragile beginning? A wonderful first story in the Parker Sisters series! I did not receive this book to review, but I really enjoyed the story and wanted to recommend this author, book and series. (paytonpuppy)
I am so excited about this new series, The Parker Sisters because I really enjoyed Thrill of the Chase. I also liked that there are more single sisters to read about in the future.
The characters are unique in this story as they all live either in their parent's house or in cabins that were built on the property in small town Kaycee, Wyoming. Jerry O'Rourke is a strong, take charge, sexy male character. It was interesting to watch him chase after Taz Parker and have to deal with her father, especially since she is 28.
I enjoyed the problems these two characters faced and was surprised by Taz's father and her sisters. I was also surprised by how the story ended and I liked that. Great first story full of romance, chemistry, and a sexy guy who chases after a sweet girl.
Thrill of the Chase (The Parker Sisters #1) was a great read by Lorhainne Eckhart. Taz Parker is the towns EMT, and is strong and dependable. Everything about her job terrifies her. She lives in a small Wyoming town and has five sisters and an overprotective father. One rainy night she's transporting a patient to the next town when she stumbles on an accident. Jerry O'Rourke is only passing through town when he witnesses a roadside accident. When Taz stops to help, he realizes that he encounters a woman he is unable to resist. He quickly realizes that her strong ties to her family could make it more difficult to get close to her. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.
This story begins the series of The Parker Sisters. Sisters that are very much sheltered by their parents , especially after the oldest one left years ago with a cowboy. This one belongs to Taz, an EMT that while on another call, she and her co-worker, come across an accident. There she finds Jerry O’Rourke , an out of towner , who had stopped to help. The chemistry between them is immediate. They moved at the speed of lightening, and they have bumpy moments, but remember, this is fiction and anything can happen! An audiobook for an afternoon of leisure, that leaves you wanting to know more about the rest of the girls.
Taz was a EMT in a small town with a lot of men with little minds. She is the 3rd of 6 sisters. Her oldest is married and living in Montana. But he parents are protected. When she goes with her immature make partner to answer a call and is told by the client that the guy could do it that didn't help. In the way to the hospital she pulled over to assist a man who was waiting for help with the car that filled over. Parker is waving down the ambulance when he tells Taz what happened, her partner leaves her. He doesn't she her again until the next day when he asked her to dinner. But something sparks between them.
A really good start to a new series! There are 6 Parker sisters total so you know there is going to be lots of drama! This kicks off with Taz, a 28 yr. old EMT. She & 2 of her other sisters live in cabins on their parent's property. 2 of the other sisters are still at home in the main house. When Taz meets a man at an accident scene sparks fly. This was a sweet romance with some drama and I can't wait to read more about the sisters. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Taz is an EMT in a small town where everyone knows everyone else. No keeping secrets in this town. She is flagged down at an accident by a gorgeous man. Jerry is just a visitor to the town and is on his way back to Denver. Then he meets beautiful Taz at the accident. Sparks fly between these two and Taz doesn't know what to do about it. She has led a very sheltered life as one of the Parker girls. Her parents are very involved in their lives and Taz lives in a small cottage on the Parker property. I loved this story.
This is a sweet romance with a bit of conflict. The connection between Jerry and Taz is quick but powerful, and, although they have to deal with some drama that could tear them apart, there’s potential for their feelings to be strong enough to overcome whatever life throws their way.
It’s a fast-paced tale with characters and a storyline that will hold your interest from beginning to end. The drama adds depth to the story with a touch of heartache. And, although there’s a few bumps along the way, their journey is one worth taking.
A good quick-read about a fast paced romance. I read straight through in one setting and was definitely wanting to start the next book right away. I can't wait to see what happens in their lives and to meet some of the other Parker Sisters in 'The Dating Game' book. I was given a copy to read and I chose to review it on my own. I was not compensated for my review, nor was I asked to give a positive review, just an honest one.
A zany, more than realistic story of small town life, a house full of sisters, overprotective parents, and men who set their sights on the girls in this family. I can totally relate to Taz and how she feels about her life when she meets Jerry and has her foundation rocked. The patience he exudes in dealing with the Parker family made it easy to fall for him. This is a great series starter and I look forward to seeing where life takes the remaining Parker sisters.
Taz is has five sisters, one over protective dad and is the towns EMT. and is strong and dependable. One night while transporting a patient to the next town, she comes across an accident. On the same night Jerry O'Rourke is passing through town when he witnesses an accident. When these two meet, Jerry knows is the woman for him. One problem is her strong family, which can and does causes it difficult to get close.
This book is full of romance and as always it is very well written. I loved reading about Taz and Jerry and Taz’s crazy and overprotective family. I am so looking forward to reading more about them in coming books but also reading all of Taz’s sisters stories too. A wonderful read
I received a free Ebook and am voluntarily leaving an honest review
This book was a great read & well written. Tax & Jerry had the story so interesting & lovable to read. A great love story & is so interesting anyone can read it.Highly recommend.
The story starts out interesting and exciting, but I got really bogged down with a twenty eight year old woman letting her father treat her like a child. Not my cup of tea.
Really enjoyed this book. I loved how Taz sticks up for herself and isn't afraid to speak her mind. Her journey with Jerry to find true love is a great story. An very enjoyable read.
I enjoyed the storyline. It was sweet, easy to read, and quite wholesome. The narration was, however, not fantastic. It was quite monotonous and lacked emotion.
An easy and not to long a read. Taz has five sisters and amazing parents. Her dad have no hesitation to confront any man that shows interest in his girls.
Taz a Jerry met and their relationship developed quickly. Jerry had to deal with her protective dad but since he is an awesome man, all went well.
It is a sweet romantic story and I enjoyed it. I forward to reading the next book.
