About the Gansett Island Episodes… From Marie: My fictional island has become such a huge part of my life—and yours—over these last six years, and I’ve created so many characters who speak to me between books and during the writing of new ones. I can’t possibly give them all a new story in every book, but I still have so much to say about them. With that in mind, I’ll be launching a new “Gansett Island Episodes” series in 2017, featuring shorter stories about past characters who readers love and want more of. Mixed in with these episodes will be at least one full-length book a year. So we’ll have plenty more from our favorite island, with new stories for past characters as well as all-new stories, too. I’m looking forward to this new adventure and hope you’ll take the ferry to Gansett for the new episodes!

I swear if I could pack my bags right now and head off to Gansett Island I would. I think everyone has a series or two they love simply because it takes them to their happy place and this is one of mine.
“People say Gansett Island has magical restorative powers.”
Over the past couple of books Kevin McCarthy and Chelsea Rose have been meandering along quite nicely in the background and, with Kev arriving on Gansett after the demise of his 31 year marriage and falling for a woman 16 years younger—10 years older than his eldest son—this couple definitely had more of a story in them.
“This was love. It wasn’t a rebound or a midlife crisis or anything other than love...”
I do love an older man and Kevin (52) has the added bonus in that he’s a McCarthy—irrespective of their age I love these men, and the ladies who keep them on their toes. But I was a little on the fence on how the introduced conflict in his and Chelsea’s relationship was resolved. It’s an absolutely natural one, and to a degree it wasn’t entirely unexpected, however there was a part of me which felt it was all resolved a little too easy and agreeably, yet at the same time I was leaning towards the fact that life doesn’t have to be filled with drama and angst, this couple are older and have life experience under their belts so a more level headed approach was actually fitting.
“If you can’t imagine your life without her anymore, then the decision becomes somewhat simple.”
Marie Force rarely fails to bring her reader a feel good story, full length or novella, that holds friendship, family, love and fun at the very heart of it. And whilst ever she does that, I’ll keep coming back for more.
With his divorce about to be finalized, Kevin is feeling free at last. His unexpected relationship with Chelsea is almost at the one year mark and could not be doing better. For once in his life, he feels completely at peace and the fullness of a happiness he never dreamed he would experience.
Chelsea feels she is about to rock their relationship. At 37 years old, she is acutely aware that is she wants children and a family Kevin might not go along with her. Having a child is one of the desires she has not fulfilled. Will Kevin agree or will he bolt? Afterall, there is a 16-year difference between them. He already has his sons in their late twenties. He has done all of this before. Will he take the leap with her and give her what she desires most?
I love, love, love anything to do with the Gansett Island residents! They are real! They love, suffer, and succeed just any human being would. Following this group of characters through all their ups and downs is addicting. I am definitely a fan of anything the McCarthy men get into. They are fun and loving!
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I thank the author for sharing a copy with me.
Kevin is in the middle of a divorce and he’s looking towards the future. I do feel like it’s important to remember that he’s older than Chelsea, the age gap does not bother me but it may not be for all readers so I do feel it’s a point I need to mention. He feels happy with Chelsea, he’s at peace and ready to move forward in his life.
Chelsea wants children but they’re both at different stages. Kevin has two children who are all grown up. He never thought he would be a father again. I like the conflict between these two, they’re both wanting to be with each other but at the same time, they also want to be together.
There is a lot of will he decide to have kids or not. I really enjoyed seeing how this book played out. I love hearing about the other residents too. It’s a book I definitely recommend to all Marie Force fans. This series is not one to miss!
Love it! Every time I read a Gansett Island book it makes me want to move there! I love how the island is a huge family, and we always hear about so many of them in one book. Baby drama, Big Mac, trademark Mac shenanigans...and a beautiful journey with Kevin and Chelsea who have been back-seat characters in so many books! Their story was totally worth the wait! Long live Gansett! Thank you for a great story Marie!
I struggled to connect to Kevin and Chelsea in this one.
I truly did like seeing all my favorites pop in through out the story and am excitedly looking forward to Riley McCarthy's book.
This really vaulted the novella for me. Sometimes there's just not enough time or enough story in shorter books like these. This time for me personally it was not enough story. But, as a devoted fan of the Island I'm still pleased to have word on our favorite inhabitants.
Eighteen books in and the Island continues to grow.
There's drama, but there's love. Things get confusing, complicated, but there's always a solution. On Gansett, things are always popping. Whether it's summer, fall or winter.
I'm not going to lie, Kevin and Chelsea, weren't a couple I was truly invested in. For some reason it seemed like a "fling/short lived" attraction to me. But this episode proved me wrong. Their relationship is deeper and their issues are ones that needed to be addressed. This episode helped me appreciate and understand both characters in a deeper level.
With that being said, I will FOREVER love Gansett Island. If I could move there, I would. Catching up with favorite characters and getting a glimpse of new ones is part of the charm. If you're a Marie fan this book will not disappoint.
I’ve been a fan of the Gansett Island series from the beginning so these episodes are a great trip back to a beloved place. Needless to say, I was very excited to catch up with all the family and friends on the island. And I was excited to see where things went for this couple, as well. And Marie Force did not disappoint!
This is a novella so it’s an easy, quick, entertaining read. But, as with all the books about the island’s beloved inhabitants, there’s also a lot of drama packed into a short story. It can be read as a standalone book, but if you read the series, you get much more insight into ALL the characters, including Kevin & Chelsea. In this book, Kevin & Chelsea are working through some pretty big challenges, most notably a 16 year age difference, and Kevin’s marital status. These bring some unique challenges their way. But with friends and family like they have on Gansett Island, they have all the support they need to figure it all out.
If I say much more, there are going to be big spoilers and I hate spoilers so I’ll close with my rating: I give it a solid 4.5 stars. Mrs. Force’s writing is always a delight to read. Her characters feel like friends and you feel like you’re a part of this beautiful island. The only reason I’m not giving this a 5-star rating is because it’s not the story that sticks with me like some of the others. Don’t get me wrong… it’s a great story! But there have been a couple other books in this series that stuck with me much longer than this one. If you love a series that keeps going and gives you more and more of your favorite characters, be sure to read from the beginning. You won’t be disappointed!
There’s always something exciting happening on Gansett Island. And this time Dr. Kevin McCarthy and Chelsea Rose are front and center. I love this older man/younger woman storyline between the doc and the lovely bartender – even though I’m usually not a fan of this big of an age difference. But Kevin and Chelsea just fit – and their story beginning with a one-night stand sent Cupid’s arrow straight to my heart. The relationship has developed at a realistic pace and I was always comfortable with their feelings for each other. Everything has been going fine and dandy . . . up until now when Chelsea voices her thoughts about their future, sending it in a direction Kevin never expected. Add a visit from the ex-Mrs. Kevin McCarthy thrown into the mix as well -- and you've got a few complications. Thank Goodness, Kevin’s sons are both supportive and understanding. And the rest of the McCarthy relatives as well. You can always count on a few opinions - wise or otherwise from that bunch.
Readers are sure to be delighted with this recent visit with our friends on Gansett Island. Of course, Marie Force would never ferry us there without an update on other favorite dwellers, along with the new births, possibilities of new love connections, and hints of plans for future goings-on. You’ll get a boatload with this visit.
Always a delight – always fun – and always a bit sad to leave -- but always with a smile on my face!
This is book 18 in the Gansett Island Series. These new additions to the series are focusing focusing on Big Mac's Brother's and their family's. His brother Kevin has come to the island to regroup after his 31 year marriage ends. He meets Chelsea. Through his relationship with Chelsea he realizes that his marriage has been dying for years. His wife puts a pause on their divorce and is wanting to talk reconciliation. Chelsea also brings up a topic that he never thought he'd even be considering at his age. He now he has some heavy thinking and decision making to do.
I absolutely love the Gansett Island Series. It's a series that I re-read. Some series lose a person's interest but that isn't the case with this series. I love that in each book it feels like we are getting another chapter in the McCarty's lives. It almost like book 1 has never ended. We get to revisit/catch up with each of the McCarty's and those close to them. I love the McCarty's, their banter, their pranks, their deep love of family.
Even though this is part of a series I feel you can read this as a stand alone. The author has a great way of writing that introduces you to the characters without taking away from the continuation of the story. From my standpoint I get a deeper appreciation for each book as I've read the whole series and always look forward to catching up with the family and their friends.
Gansett Island is a favourite series of mine and it’s hard to imagine a series at book 18 getting better and better, well this series does just that, I fell in love with the McCarthy’s in book 1 and I’m loving them even more in book 18. Kevin McCarthy’s 31 year marriage is over and he finds himself needing to be close to his family on Gansett Island where he can start to regroup his life, what he didn’t expect was to meet and fall for Chelsea Rose a woman a fair few years younger than him, after spending time with Chelsea he realises that the time spent with his soon to be ex wife was not real love, he would never change the past because that relationship gave him two amazing sons but Chelsea makes his heart beat. Two people desperately in love but will the age gap cause them problems, will Chelsea want more than Kevin is prepared to give, I guess you need to one click to find out. I love catching up with one of my favourite families, I love the banter, the pranks and tricks they play on each other and off course their family loyalty and family love, let’s be honest wouldn’t we all love to be part of this wonderful family. I think every book in this series can be read as a standalone but I also think that once you read one you will want to read the rest so be prepared to fall in love with the McCarthy’s and their friends.
Gerade was das künftige Zusammenleben angeht.
A trip back to Gansett.... it's been said a time or two that Gansett has restorative powers, Kevin McCarthy has been soaking up those powwrs this laat year as he tries to put his life back together after his wife of thirty plus years left him for another man, and boy wasn't that fun. In hindsight he should of seen it coming. What he didn't see coming was meeting the beautiful Chelsea Rose. He soon realized the relationship he had with his soon to be ex-wife was never the real thing. The love he feels for Chelsea is something he's never felt before. Does it matter that she's sixteen years younger than him? He didn't think so until she drops somerhing on him that he definitely didn't see coming. Now he's questioning everything. Is it really love or lust? Does the age difference matter? Am I really what she deserves? What will my kids and my family think? Do I put my love for her and her needs in front of what I want at this point in my life? I loved that this bookd dealt with the hearts and issues of an older adult. As with all the Gansett books you get to catch up with all your favorite Gansett friends and family. This is truly a wonderful series and I always enjoy taking a trip to the island.
“Do you give the woman you love what she wants, potentially at the expense of your own happiness, or do you tell her it’s not what you want and lose her in the process?” There is nothing better for me than catching up with the McCarthy family and friends on Gansett Island. When I read a Gansett Island book, I know I will be taken to my happy place. I know I’m going to be swept away reading a truly enjoyable romance that is believable and deals with real issues. There’s drama, romance, sexiness, comedy, and the close-knit bond that is Gansett Island. Episode 2 brings an internal debate for Dr. Kevin McCarthy and his much younger girlfriend while also keeping us current on the many family members and friends. There’s a new business venture, more babies, a new romance budding (setting up for book 19), and the hysterics that is the life of the McCarthy’s. With so many characters you think it would be too much, but Marie has the perfect flow and I’m always amazed at how much she packs in without sacrificing the main story. A well written romance and a very enjoyable read. Note: this is a continuing series and I believe you will benefit more from reading in order.
I listened to the Audible of this novella. This is the 18th book in this series and it is still going so strong! I honestly don’t have a bad thing to say about this book or the series. I am so invested in these characters lives it makes the reading/ listening that much better. Joan Delaware is such an awesome narrator and Marie Force sure can write a hella good romance!! I love this series so much!! Even though this novella was ultimately about Kevin and Chelsea, which is such a nice story in itself, we get to check in on many of the other wonderful characters we know and love which is great in a series like this. So many amazing things happen that I was tearing up and smiling so much! I want to be a McCarthy! This is the 18th book in this series and it is still going strong! Joan is such an awesome narrator and Marie Force sure can write a hella good romance!! I love this series so much!! Even though this novella was ultimately about Kevin and Chelsea, we touch base with many of the other wonderful characters we know and love and so many amazing things happen that I was tearing up, chuckling and smiling so much! I want to be a McCarthy!
I'm really not a fan of this episode format because the relaitonship that's covered doesn't get the full attention although this book was a bit better than the first Episodes book. When Kevin came to the island for his niece's wedding after finding out his wife was cheating on him with a younger man, he meets Chelsea 16 years his junior and a one night stand turns into more. During this book 37 year old Chelsea throws 53 year old Kevin for a loop when she announces she wants to have a baby. With sons in their late 20's, a baby isn't exactly what Kevin has planned at this point in his life which of course causes strife in their relationship. Let me be clear, from the first time Kevin and Chelsea met I felt they were a great couple and she was good for him and visa versa. I do have issues when someone ends up completely reassing everything in their lives to give the other person what they want. That being said, this was an interesting book. I enjoyed it, but not as much as I have others in this series.
5 Star Review of Kevin & Chelsea (Gansett Island Episodes #2) by Marie Force
This is one of my favourites series. I love meeting and learning more about the McCarthy's of Gansett Island.
This is an extremely well written book full of love and family and one I thoroughlyi enjoyed.
What do you do when your marriage of 31 years is suddenly no more? This is the position Dr. Kevin McCarthy finds himself in. He decides to visit his family on Gansett Island; little does he know but that decision will change the course of his life.
He re connects with and falls for sexy bartender, Chelsea Rose, who is 16 years younger.
I really like Kevin and Chelsea together. The chemistry is there but can they forge a path together or will they be split apart by their differing plans for the future?
I love catching up with the McCarthy's and their extended family. Marie Force brings Gansett Island to life for me and I so want to visit.
Kevin McCarthy, psychiatrist brother of Big Mac and father of Riley and Finn, is divorced after a long marriage to Deb. She left him for a younger man, which he found very shocking, but after reflection he realizes his marriage was never that good. Just so-so.
But he discovers fire when he starts a romance with much younger (16 years) bartender Chelsea Rose. She comes on to him when he is having a drink at the bar and their attraction is immediate. It also becomes lasting.
On the road to their happy-ever-after, Chelsea realizes that she really wants to have a child of her own. This becomes a stumbling block to Kevin, as he is 52 and has grown sons who are about to find mates of their own. He is done with child rearing and who would want to start that over at his age?
But, again upon reflection, Kevin comes to a different mindset and he and Chelsea joyfully decided to marry and make a little family of their own.

I have been a fan of the Gansett Island series for several years and every time I pick up one of the Gansett Island titles it feels like I'm catching up with old friends.
This title focuses on Kevin and Chelsea who is sixteen years his junior. This pair are completely endearing, and captivating.
Kevin & Chelsea's story is a lovely, sweet story of love and compromise, with a few twists and turns that keep you on your toes, and completely enthralled.
I love that so many of my favorite residents of Gansett Island appear within the story line, and we gain a glimpse into possible future romances, births of babies, and future plans for the McCarthy clan. I will be eagerly awaiting the next title in this fabulous series, and cannot wait for more of the McCarthy's and Gansett Island.
Kevin & Chelsea (Gansett Island Episodes #2; Gansett Island Series #18) by Marie Force is the next sweet romance novel in this series. The previous book in the series is Gansett Island Episode 1; Gansett Island Series 17 Victoria & Shannon. This is Kevin and Chelsea´s story. Dr. Kevin McCarthy is a 53 year old, separated- soon to be divorced man in his middle years. He´s settled in his life and on the island. His grown sons and his brothers with families life on the island too. Kevin is in love with the quirky bartender Chelsea Rose. She´s much younger but they have a great relationship. ´til Chelsea wishes for something. Kevin is stunned to put it lightly. Both are at different points in their lives and that shows. This book is a beautiful lovestory, a sweet romance and a great read. I finished this book and now I want to know what happens next to the characters. I give 4,5 sweet stars. Thank you, Marie Force !
Another great addition to the series. Wow is all I can say about the numbers of babies that have been produced by the McCarthy's and other family and friends. This is the second novella of the Gansett episodes and like the previous one they are also two babies that are born in this book. Kevin McCarthy is loving his life with Chelsea a year after his tumultuous marriage of thirty years falls apart. But with good times that does not last forever. Kevin has to deal with his ex-wife coming to town and having Chelsea drop him a bombshell about and issue that comes up in her life. Love catching up with all the past characters especially Maddie and Mac. Kudos for Ms. Force for being able to keep up with the many cast of characters their families in her series.
I really liked getting more of Kevin and Chelsea's story. They have a great connection, and they don't let the age difference cause any major problems. Some issues came up for them in this episode, but I really enjoyed how they worked through it all. The baby delivery excitement was so much fun. Mac never fails to deliver with his crazy antics, especially when it comes to Maddie. Those two are the best. I especially loved what Owen and Laura decided to do on their 'night off', while Kevin and Chelsea babysat. I laughed out loud at that moment, as usual for this wonderful series. I really love every story that we get from this wonderful family and amazing island.
Guess what? Marie Force has release the second episode of the Gansett Island. And it´s Kevin & Chelsea. Oh, I am definitely excited to read about Kevin and Chelsea. They are my favorite beside Mac and Maddie. Kevin has been through a disaster marriage but he is finally stable in his life. He found love again with Chelsea but things are changing though. Chelsea is realizing that she wants something more that it is going to take time to discuss their option. Yes, it may be messy for them but nothing is perfect. It will take time for Kevin and Chelsea to realize what they want for each other but it is for any relationship. Kevin and Chelsea will provide us fresh romance while entertaining us with their cute drama. Five stars.
