I first have to say Mr Hunt you are an awesome writer. I was intrigued from the first pages of the amnesia spread amongst 5 people, thinking that they were in a plane accident. Only to find that did not figure in being as the Dr, nurses, and other characters knew them by name. I was taken into the story and through the descriptions given by Mr. Hunt was able to imagine the hospital, the grounds, even the water that surrounds the island they live on. From the concussion of amnesia to the last door opening I was held to reading of each page I turned. I have already recommended to a sister and a friend to read this. I look forward to reading more of Mr Hunts books.
As always, Mr. Hunt's books are well written, he knows how to write gripping stories. But, after the reader invests his mind and time, there is no reward of getting the questions answered. The end reveals little more than the beginning in this Sci Fi story, it only hints at being apocalyptic. All negative aside, I read this book from start to finish in one day. It was gripping and thought provoking. With all of those unanswered questions about the storyline, I fully expect there to be a sequel.
This is a very different story which made it a lot of fun. You don't ever learn a lot about the disaster that has already occurred, but the mystery unfolds nicely as the characters who wake up with no memory try to figure out what is going on. I do think the length of time in stasis would have caused muscles to atrophy and they would not have been mobile so fast. The ending was almost a bit anti-climatic and I would rather have seen what they found when they went out. All in all a fun book to read.
This book is a very different storyline. In some ways it does address the treatment of the mentally ill and how our society deals with it or should I say DOES NOT. Often the mentally ill are placed in the hands of psychotic brutal abusive people who abuse them, rape them treat them savagely. Hopefully one day mental will be treated the same as with other illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes or cancer. You do not see a cancer patient being beaten or locked in solitaire. A mind left to wander alone will turn upon itself and destroys itself.
This book really surprised me. The story was believable with today's technology but the ending was a shocker. I read about 150 books a year of many genres but this book surprised me. Jack Hunt is a very creative writer. I enjoyed this because it is different. I hope you do too.
When you begin this book you would never know that an "event" had taken place. Jake, Lindsay, Michael, Tess, & Eli all awaken by the side of the lake, cold ,wet and not knowing where they are or even who they are.
Whoa!!!!!! This book is deep. It will keep your brain working trying to figure out what is real and what isn't. It kept me on the edge. I didn't expect the ending that came but it was good. Very nicely done
A different kind of post-apocalypse book. It's....wow. I would think I had everything figured out, then the world went upside down and made a left turn. Very intriguing, very thought provoking. Definitely recommended.
I chose 5 stars because this book kept me entertained and highly interested the whole time. Great horror/thriller book. I'd recommend anyone who enjoys a syfi mystery to read this.
While I'm not a big psychological drama guy, this was exciting and suspenseful thru out the entire book The camouflaged reasoning behind the survival of the 5 is amazing
This one was very intriguing. I had no idea what was going on until the very end. A mystery well written. Very mind altering read. I wasn't expecting this from Mr. Hunt, and it was quite entertaining. At the end of the story, I wasn't quite sure if I knew who I really was.
Highly recommended. Great premise, characters, and setting. Lots of twists and turns. Definitely worth a look for anyone interested in this type of thriller
Really enjoyed this fast paced tale, very psychological and intriguing sci-fi apocalyptic oriented. I hope for a follow up, to find out what happens next!
This was not my kind of story. Seemed like 250+ pages of intense violence and bloody, gruesome murders with an unsatisfying final answer to what happened to the main characters and why. I felt like it was all for nothing in the end.
