S#xy Firefighter's Second Chance at Love...

People in town say that my reputation is too hot to handle.
What the fu#k do they know?
All they see is a chiseled firefighter with a heart of ash and a Texas-sized trail of women left behind.

What they don't see are my feelings for Jenna.
It was her that I always wanted.
Not on the on-again, off-again fake a$$ plastic blonde that I can't seem to shake.
Beautiful. Smart. S#xy. It was Jenna all along.

This time, I won't let anything get in the way of us.
Not my ego.
Not my immature fu#k-ups that cost our relationship the first time.

It would be so easy for her to skip town.
She could leave the family's debt and bull$hit for good.
I'll stop at nothing to change her mind though.

I'll prove my love for her and our baby.

My Protector is s stand-alone second chance, secret baby romance with a guaranteed HEA.

I have to admit this book did not work for me at all. For a fairly short read (it ended at 27% on my Kindle) the story really seemed to drag at times. It took a while for me to get into it, and I kept hoping it would get better. Sadly, it didn't. The two main characters are really immature and constantly fighting over something. Jenna, in particular, was a difficult character to like because she is so all over the place and it really got on my nerves. Tanner complains about the toxic relationship he had with his ex, but I honestly didn't see much of a difference between the two relationships. I am also really confused by the title. Yes, he is a fire fighter and helped her get out of a burning building once, but he doesn't protect her from the issue/danger with the loan shark so.... not sure I get it. It just felt misleading to me.

Standalone.

This book was interesting.. I really like how that wasn't that first look/first love kind of thing. Liked how they had all that history between them and how that only made their union stronger.
Also, how is was difficult and not at all easy and that's exactly love, is hard work and perseverance.

Also loved the connection between Jenna and her father. That kind of relation is so hard to find, even if they had their problems, who doesn't?

As her mother said:
"Be sweet, be kind, and be stern with your love, because if it’s true it will be one of the most important treasures of your lifetime. Choose your happiness."

So, I have to say I didn't exactly loved it but I enjoyed reading and I had a great time knowing this story. It made me laugh and cry, showing how life can be and how love can heal anything if we can keep fighting.

Nicely done, Ashlee. 👍

I feel like I read a different book than everybody else. The characters were incredibly immature and obnoxious. There is nothing from the guys perspective and I just wanted to scream as loud as possible to get out some of my frustration with this whole thing. This is the fourth book I've read by this author and they have been incredibly inconsistent for me.

I enjoyed this second chance romance way more than I was expecting. I really liked Jenna - her take charge, no nonsense attitude was great, except for when she was jumping to conclusions instead of communicating with Tanner. I even sort of liked Tanner, not necessarily his man whore ways, but I liked how he was with Jenna. And surprisingly I didn't mind the other woman drama, in the sense that I appreciated the added drama that it brought to the plot. But I couldn't stand Brandy (the other woman), but I suppose that's the point. The book was more than just a romance, I love the added element of a pregnancy, it deals with loss and grief, and it was just a pleasant surprise. I give the book 3 out of 5 wine glasses.

This book will put you through a rollercoaster of emotions. Anger, angst, happiness and love (not necessarily in that order). The main character is a walking disaster. Stubborn, with lots ands lots of bad luck and plain stupid some of the times. But that is what makes this book so great, you do not know what to expect.

Jenna just recently graduated from college and is going home for the summer since she have not decided where to go for her graduate school. What she founds at home is not encoraging. His father is not coping well with her mom death and has been doing business with a shady character. Also, her ex, Tanner, is in a on and off relationship with another woman, Brandy.

Well that is not her problem, but her feelings and his feelings are all over the place. They get together but they are always interrupted by Brandy and if not Jenna is making things up without asking if they are true.

Nothing is what she expected to be. His father is pressuring her to pick a school to go to. She is involve in a handfull of fires, yes fires!!! And she do not know what to do with Tanner, they are friendly some times, two time lovers and then fighting again. And then... she is pregnant.

She have to leave. She cannot tell Tanner this when he is still messing with Brandy. Her father shady business partner is roaming again. What's going to happen? Will she go away? Or will she tell Tanner?

Jenna has just finished college but doesn't know where to go, or if she will, to grad school. She returns to her hometown where her father's business is going downhill and he is having difficulties with a horrid shade character. plus he ex boyfriend, Tanner, a fireman no less and gorgeous with it, who asked her to marry him before she left for college is still holding her heart in his hands. But after she rejected him he tried to move on with Brandy but they aren't exactly in a stable nor consistent relationship. Jenna's Dad is not coping since her mum died and she is so worried about him, what's she going to do in her life and whether she wants Tanner back. She's all over the place. Tanner still wants Jenna but he's got to cope with the extra work with fires round town, with Jenna "flying off the handle" and not listening to explanations form people she should trust. Tanner is a wonderful man whilst being absolutely a real stud muffin and a fireman, he really cares about Jenna but can he trust her to guard and nurture his heart if he offers it again to her? A truly fabulous story by Ashlee price whose writing just becomes more absorbing with every book she writes. I think this is her best yet and the others are terrific!!! I look forward to reading her next page turning story :) I received an arc of this book and voluntarily leave my very honest review of it here. Enjoy!! A second chance read about a firefighter, Tanner, and the one that got away, Jenna. When she returns for the summer and sees him again, she still adores him. He was her friend and lover at one time and Tanner keeps going back to a toxic relationship with lots of drama so when he sees Jenna he is finally done with his ex....or is he?
A great read with a lot of build up as they don't start right away into their "relationship" as it progresses slowly until it combusts. I felt sorry for Tanner at times with all the drama in his life when it seemed all he wanted was someone to be there for him and take him for his word and love him w/o trying to change him. Jenna was stubborn and I could see why she hesitated in being with Tanner considering her past relationship but there were times when they should have just talked it out. There were some questions that were left unanswered for me, what were Tanner and his ex talking about in the park and what was she doing leaving his apartment before she left for school? I also would have liked to have read some points from his view, was he thinking about his ex at all and how did he really feel about Jenna? The ending was great and even sweet when he found out she was pregnant but it seemed rushed to me but the epilogue made me smile and the letter got me misty eyed.

It was good but not great, there were times it didn't make sense and lots of parts were rushed by without any notice of how much time has passed. She is 23 will be 24 but she still acts, depending on her mood like a high schooler and a college graduate. Her father loves his daughter but most of the time she's home taking a break he's all in her business getting her out of town and find a graduate college and never come back home again, let the girl have her summer break, dang. Also her father is in shady business with the local Irish 'gangster' don't you mean mafia? Tanner -firefighter crazy cheating girlfriend, but with Jenna around he is all over her, his girlfriend is on again off again and currently they are off again but Jenna and Tanner's hormones are acting like young teenagers and their sparks fly when they touch but Jenna has mixed feelings with him, especially when she sees Tanner with Brandy the blond crazy cheater, laughing and hanging out. But she won't ask him just jumping to conclusions. When the the letters come out they will get you tearing up if you lost your loving parent. Especially the last one at the end.

Jenna is a young college graduated, who returns home for the summer to decide on where she will go grad school that fall. Yet returning home isn't what she expects. She cannot escape the memories of her mother, who died a couple years ago, the family bar seems to be failing, her father has gotten mixed up with the mob, and her she still as chemistry with her ex-boyfriend that could set a forest on fire, yet he is in an on-again-off-again relationship with a model. While I adores Ashlee's writing style, the leading man (Tanner), the casts of side characters (best friend Hannah, her dad Paul Ferris, and mobster Sean Hannity to name a few) but I couldn't stand Jenna. While there were moments that I had true compassion for Jenna, most of the time she seemed oblivious to the struggles that others were going through and was so self-involved I am surprised she didn't run into the door. It is a true testament to Ashlee Price's skill as a writer that I not only finished the book, but am looking forward to reading her other works.
I received this book from the author at no cost to me and volunteered to read it; my review is my honest opinion and given without any influence by the author or publisher.

This is a second chance romance. Jenna goes back to her hometown for summer break before going to grad school. She doesn’t find the usual calming atmosphere, on the contrary she learns that her father is indebted with a local gangster and her unforgettable love has a strange relationship with a stunning girl. Instead of making things better and helping her father, she actually makes a mess of the whole situation. To make things worst she completely ruins what was becoming a beautiful relationship with her ex boyfriend. Will Jenna have her happy ending? I admit as I kept reading the book, my emotions were all over the place. Jenna made me angry but at the same time I completely understood what she was going through so at the end she got some compassion on my behalf. On the other hand Tanner, the male character, had my total devotion. A man who was left by Jenna had tried to forget her with this girlfriend but obviously it had been useless.
A story very well built, all the characters are fully developed and once you start reading the book you get completely caught up in the story. An enjoyable read.

I enjoyed this book.
Jenna is a recent college college graduate who is returning to her hometown before she begins grad school.
I appreciate how Jenna is trying to help and fix all the problems with her dad before she leaves. And no matter how much her father tells her its under control she just needs to help. Jenna and her dad are still dealing with the loss of her mother. Jenna needs to make sure her father is OK because she couldn't help her mother when she was sick. The interaction between Jenna and his dad are written similar to real life interaction between parent and child.
Jenna and Tanner, her ex high school boyfriend, have an interesting relationship. While both still have deep seated feelings for each other Jenna is afraid to take the leap because of her last boyfriend and Tanner's relationship with his current on again/off again girlfriend.
I appreciated how true the author wrote about what it is like to return home after going to school. Your memories are stuck in the past and everyone else has moved on with their lives.
I was given this book and am giving an honest voluntary review.

Never again!

I chose this book because it had good reviews and the description sounded interesting. The interesting stops there! The characters in this book were immature. The whole story was under developed. It reads like it was written by a 15 year old. I was ready to put it down by the 3rd chapter, but I continued based on others reviews. I reached the end at only 23%. I'm not sure if it was relief or irritation I felt. There is what I believe is a teaser for another book following the ridiculous epilogue, but I don't think I could be paid to read anything else from this author.

The H finds out she's pregnant in one chapter. The beginning of the next chapter she is hanging out in her new apt at college and the very next chapter she is back home with her dad who is apparently thrilled she is pregnant. Ummmm how did her dad (who didn't like her boyfriend) react initially to the news? When did she decide not to tell the father she was carrying his child? Where are the freaking details that make a story engaging? It's like there are chapters missing! Don't waste your time!

Jenna comes back to her town after college, find his father’s business in difficulty and his father has a deal with a strange man. She finds out too, that she’s still attracted by her ex-boyfriend who just dumps his girlfriend in front of her.
I like the characters and the way their relationship evolves with the feelings of their past and the scars they have had when they were separated. So they try to believe in the other, but it’s hard for Jenna to see through her insecurities.
As usual, I really appreciated the author's writting style and the way she transmits to us the feelings of the characters.
For the one who really wants a secret story baby, it's not the main part. It's just a small part. The problems between the characters, the local gangter and the relations between each character are more important and more interesting.

Tanner & Jenna were high school sweethearts until she left for college. Now she's back after graduating & Tanner is a fire fighter like he's always planned. The chemistry is still intense between them but Tanner has an on/off girlfriend that constantly pops up. Jenna is jealous & concerned about that. She's also concerned about her dad & his business dealings. Should she stay to help him? Leave for grad school? She's not sure.

The character of Jenna was frustrating. She really wasn't much better than Brandi, Tanner's ex. Her feelings were all over the place. The plot took a while to get going & seemed to move a little slow. Once I got into the story, I was able to get more involved. As the story evolves, the relationships between father/daughter & Tanner/Jenna deepen & grow. The conclusion is a plot twist that you don't completely see coming.

Jenna comes home after finally getting her Bachelor's degree for the summer before heading out to get her Master's degree but she doesn't expect to find what she does. She gets home to find out that her father is mixed up with a gangster that he owes money too and that her ex boyfriend is with some deceitful blonde bimbo. She witnesses Tanner and his bimbo have a blowout at her dad's bar and her best friend tells her it happens all the time and within a week they'll be back together, talk about a toxic relationship! During the in between time, Tanner and Jenna reignite their old relationship but Jenna just doesn't think that Tanner is done with the bimbo and leaves town to escape her broken heart once again. Can Jenna help her dad out with the gangster? Will Tanner ever convince Jenna that the bimbo is really gone? Will these two ever get their HEA? Want to know, read the book!

I have voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. Jenna Ferris is coming home after her time away at college. She wants some downtime with her father before she decides on a grad school. While home Jenna finds out that her Dad, Paul is having money troubles with his business. Jenna steps in to help bring in a new clientele to their family bar. On her first night back she runs in to her first love Tanner Devlin. Tanner is now a firefighter with a rude girlfriend named Brandy. Jenna also comes into contact with Sean Hannity the equivalent of the towns mob boss. The more she digs into things the more she learns. This book will has intrigue, romance, heartbreak and the element of surprise all in one. A great 5 star read!

Emotions were all over the place as I read this book. Jenna and Tanner once loved each other, so when she comes back home, he tries his best to rekindle their relationship. All sorts of distractions and obstructions occur, which all makes her leery of being with him again. All sorts of accidents too, and Tanner is there each time to help Jenna when she is hurt. I don't want to go into too much detail, but this is a must read. Packed with action, doubts, feelings that are rich, and best of all passion. I was starting to wonder towards the end how they would get their happily ever after, but it all worked out beautifully. You will not be disappointed. I liked this book. It was a good second chance romance. Jenna and Tanner actually seemed fated, even when he proposed to her when she was just 17. Circumstances and life got in the way, and they went on their separate paths. Tanner got involved with a drama queen from hell in the interim. I wasn't sure that he was actually going to make it this time around. Because of Brandy and her stupid antics, I almost felt that Tanner wasn't serious this time around. But true love prevailed along with a baby...lol

A fun read! I volunteered to read this book in exchange for a review.

I cried reading this book! The feeling of loss and love. It was just too much for me. THe feelings that the characters had was just so perfect that I teared up reading it. Learning to let go and learning that some just need a bit more time to heal and Learning that REAL LOVE always comes back no matter how long it might have been. I really enjoyed this book and I know you will too.

Love. Lost. Fear. Something we all have and crave in our life.

I recommend this book! 100-thousand%

This must have been my weekend for roller coaster emotional books! So much angst and twisty goodness with make-up sexy times that lead to an oopsie, you know what...

Jenna comes home after graduation while trying to figure out where to go to grad school only to find more dysfunction than she bargained for. Her dad has hooked up with the local gangster and her ex-boyfriend has hooked up with someone else. Jenna seems to be in the middle of all the twists and turns and when she tries to love will Tanner pull her back and prove himself?

This story is an emotional roller-coaster in the best possible way. You hit every high and low in this one uniquely engaging romantic journey towards a second chance at love with the added twist of a secret baby.

Jenna is just home from college and trying to decide on her next step in life when so many things bounce around her personal space, her ex and his current on-again off-again girl. Tanner is a hot, sexy firefighter and her one time love till life got in the way, now that she is back he is determined to not let her go so easily this time. Highly entertaining heart pounding drama.

A second chance romance with a HEA.
Right here I could stop my review, but I can't do that. I have to tell you about Jenna - she's a disaster in trusting people, that they can take care of them selves. I was so annoyed, so many times during the book. She wants to solve all problems for all of those she cares for. That sounds good but...
There where a lot of feelings in me reading this book - love, anger, annoyance, sadness..
When I read a book I want to be moved in one way or another. Here I've got it all.

What a roller coaster, my head was spinning trying to keep up with all the curve balls. Jenna and her on and off again romance with Tanner, the evil other woman Brandy, a father still grieving from his wife's death, a shady business partner, an unplanned pregnancy, a loan shark and whew. Second chances with an HEA and a whole lotta drama before you get there. This was a great read. I received an advance copy and voluntarily chose to review this book.

Talk about a stubborn girl. OMG that is Jenna with a capital S in this story about a young woman who is bound and determined to do and have everything her own way, regardless of who or what gets in her way as she heads home for the college summer break. It is also a romantic story with lots of ups and downs as it leads to its finale. And, yes, of course, there are some very hot sex scenes with a super sexy firefighter. Tanner and Jenna dated in high school but broke up when she left for college. Jenna graduated and came home for the summer. Tanner and Jenna do a lot of remembering the friendship and love they shared. This book has a crazy ex, a Irish thug, money laundering, arson and a hot firefighter. A quick read with great characters and storyline. I voluntarily received this book to review for my honest opinion.

This second chance romance takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. There is love and angst and heartbreak in the relationship between Tanner and Jenna. Then there is Jenna's relationship with her father which has a whole different set of emotions including frustration over her father's handling of his financial decisions and heartbreak over her mother's death and the letters she leaves for Jenna. There is a happy ending.
