The Debt Proxy
Fatima went to the corner of the clinic, retrieved something from a plastic crate and returned, standing before Priscilla. “Okay,” Fatima said, “hold your hands out in front of you.” Priscilla complied, looked down at Fatima’s hands and saw she was holding a pile of chain. Fatima pulled what looked like an open cuff from the pile and placed it against Priscilla’s wrist. Priscilla jerked her hand away as if the metal were unbearably hot. “What’s that?” she demanded. “Your restraints,” Fatima replied. “What are they for?” Priscilla asked, and she backed up until she hit the exam table with her bare bottom. “I need to restrain you,” Fatima said, as if the answer were obvious. “Why?” Priscilla asked. “To go to the lab,” Fatima said. Her mask was still covering her mouth, but her eyes registered surprise as Priscilla looked into them. “I’m not going to the lab,” Priscilla asserted, and she looked at the place on the floor where she had dropped her clothes, but there was nothing there now. “I’m sorry, Honey,” Fatima said softly. “The appraisal’s done. You passed. You’ve got your number.” “But,” Priscilla said, otherwise speechless. “Please hold out your hands,” Fatima repeated. “No,” Priscilla said firmly.

This is definitely a story for female bondage fetishists!
Priscilla is a somewhat naive, yet fairly sharp young woman existing in some nightmarish alternative reality where young women may deal with outstanding debt by being sold into servitude at a laboratory specializing in the study of female sexuality and reproductive characteristics. Her mother and step-father have tricked her into agreeing to assume the step-father's debt. After a quick physical evaluation, Priscilla finds herself bound in chains and a small cage a being sent off to her new life.
Priscilla is so blindsided by her mother's betrayal that she spends a healthy portion of the novel coming to terms that her predicament will not be ending any time soon.
This synopsis could likely apply to a large swath of amateur bondage erotica, but let me suggest that this is certainly a large step or two up from standard dreck. This is a very smart character study of a woman being dragged along through her world struggling to find a voice that gives her any glimpse of power or control and (to some degree) succeeding on her own terms under the worst of circumstances.
The story is also a bit of a commentary on reality to a degree, addressed in a somewhat germane passage where Priscilla argues about the legality of being interred in the research facility (a corporation that supposedly generates a lot of money) with one of her handlers, Cecilia:
I am ever on the search for stories of this ilk and, most often, totally disappointed by the fare that exists. And so, it is exciting to find something that both titillates and engages the mind. As stated before, the bondage and restraint is taken to a fetishy level. But this is not a brutal story of pain and abuse. The story does not set out to utterly debase the characters, rather it is about celebrating their ability to endure.
So, yes, I am intrigued by the bondage and it certainly influences my review. But I suggest that the content extends way, way beyond simple porn. I'll be seeking out more works by this author (and I'd totally be interested in a sequel!)

I can see why this book gets such a wide range of reviews. It is definitely written for those readers who like bondage (on steroids), humiliation and strong sexual scenes. On those fronts, I would rate this book quite high. On the negative, this book ends abruptly and you are left with wanting to know what happens to the mc.
Overall, I liked this book a lot and loved the detailed bondage and sex descriptions. I’m embarrassed to say how many of the scenes took over my mind in the most delicious way. This book gets an A+ for the imaginative world created by the author. Pure sexual fantasy...pure fun!

A surprisingly sensitive story with a heroine we find interesting. The story stops at an early stage of her adventures. It calls out for a sequel the sooner the better
