It was definitely worth reading, I found out a few things. Degas was a bit of a misanthrope, if you hadn't heard....
There are negatives that I need to warn about. This is a small book and many of the reproductions, although they have good color, are minuscule. This did give them the option to include a very large number of color reproductions, by making some less than an inch square. The writing is not very organized, I get the feeling the author dumped a bunch of information into the book and left the hapless reader to fend for themselves.
This was OK, since I checked it out of the library, and did not purchase it.
Longer than a Wikipedia article, much shorter than a real biography, plus lots of images and some primary source documents. The first section was poorly written. The documents, mostly testimonies and letters, were more interesting.
