A Family Affair
MM pregnancy/ Alpha and Omega. The state awards custody to Matt of his older half-sister's three children when she and her husband die without a will. They have an uncle, Kevin, who loves them but the judge feels an Omega would provide a more “nurturing” environment than an unmated Alpha. Kevin is devastated to lose the children and is vehemently against anyone from his sister-in-law's family having anything to do with the children. Kevin is drawn to Matt but cannot let go of his hatred of Matt's family. Kevin hurts Matt deeply and Matt feels his worthlessness is further solidified. A wonderful story of family, love, and acceptance.

Simple Pleasures
MM, Alpha/Omega, pregnancy. Omega Ellis Connelly moves to New York City for the job of his dreams. As the well-paid nanny for a wealthy young surgeon, his days are filled with worthwhile work and his nights are spent socializing with the greatest group of friends. Alpha Dr. Jasper Flint doesn’t have time for a social life between his demanding career and being a single dad. He is still brokenhearted over a painful divorce and his Omega ex not wanting to spend any time with their daughter. After meeting his beautiful new nanny, Jasper wonders if it might be time to get back out there. Life is not all sunshine and roses for Ellis and Jasper. They both must face a difficult situation and trust one another with the truth.

Reunited
MM, male pregnancy. Logan and Cole are Alpha and Omega. Their parents attempted to set them up when they were in high school, but they were too different. Cole was a handsome, rich, and athletic alpha. Logan was a geeky omega with a serious chip on his shoulder. Ten years later, they meet again at the high school reunion and hope the other has grown up. A wonderful, heartfelt read about growing older and wiser. We sometimes do not want to face mistakes made in the past, but we must to move on.

Snowed In
MM Alpha/Omega. Austin Baines is an unmated, workaholic Omega living in the upscale town of Skaneateles, New York. He is happy with his life, running a phenomenally successful wine business, has the respect of his peers, and has complete freedom. Alpha Cody Howell left the rat race of Manhattan behind three years ago to start Blue Bells Weddings in Syracuse. When Cody meets Austin on a last-minute business deal, sparks fly immediately. Both men try to keep things professional, but the sudden appearance of Austin's twin brother, Adrian, from Texas raises the stakes. Adrian is set to force Austin in to a claim and take his business from him. A very moving story about the relationship between Alphas, Omegas, and society.

Fire of Love
I loved this MM pregnancy story. Among us are Alphas, Betas, and Omegas. There are still issues with Omega rights. Not all Alphas have disclosed themselves, especially in some career fields. Josh hides his Omega status with medication to avoid complications with Alphas and to be able to continue his dream career as a sportscaster. His superiors embed him with a new football team with three Alphas. Josh already had a negative, life altering encounter with Kysely and he wants nothing to do with another Alpha. But something about Matt draws him to the Alpha. Matt and Josh are not very good at communicating with each other. Josh does not want to lose his career, but has never given thought to being with someone. Josh's abuse, torment, and heartache will break you heart. That he gets blamed for someone else's bad behavior is aggravating.

It was okay...

Well, now that I’ve been exposed to Aiden Bates’ more recent works, these kinda pale in comparison. I think that says a lot about the author. He’s grown by leaps and bounds.

I’m just reading old works of his while I wait for something new to be released anyway. So this was a nice way to pass the time ;)

FAMILY AFFAIR - BOOK 1

This is the story of Matt and Kevin.

Matt is a tenured professor at a prestigious university. He received his PhD at age 22 and loves his job. He tries to stay away from the limelight his father and troublesome half siblings insist on being in. It is the wrong kind of attention and Matt wants nothing with that kind of celebrity.

Matt's life takes a path he never expected. After his stepsister and her husband are tragically killed in a car accident, their 3 children are given to him to raise. He has never been around children so he is shocked and overwhelmed.

Kevin is grieving the loss of his older brother and sister-in-law. To add to his grief, the Judge grants custody to one of his sister-in-law's half siblings. He knows that his sister-in-law hated her family, so the Judges decision is a blow to Kevin. Kevin drops off the kids to Matt's house and he is immediately surprised when Matt offers Kevin frequent visitations with the kids. As time passes, Kevin becomes even more surprised when he sees Matt clearly having the best interests of the kids at all times. He has no doubt that Matt wants only the best for the kids and that is proven when Matt asks Kevin to help him keep the kids sheltered from Matt's father and whatever scheme he's cooking up involving the kids.

In the process of sheltering the kids and working together to make sure the children are protected, Matt and Kevin are drawn together and there is no denying the spark they have.

There were many ups and downs in Matt and Kevin's story. Matt had a lot of insecurities and plenty of self-deprecation, which just tore at my heart. He was obviously a great man and just needed someone bold enough to show him his self worth. Kevin was that perfect man.

SIMPLE PLEASURES - BOOKS 2

Ellis Connelly is a Southern boy who moves to New York City for his dream job. He is a well-paid nanny for a young, successful surgeon. He enjoys all aspects of his job and after he takes care of beautiful Isabella, he finds time in the evenings to hang out with his group of friends that he feels so fortunate to have made so quickly after moving to such a large city.

Dr. Jasper Flint lives vicariously through his gorgeous nanny since he has no time for a social life due to his hectic work schedule and spending as much time as he can with his baby girl, Isabella. He also is still healing from his painful divorce.

After Ellis and Jasper spend so much time with each other, they finally come together. Each feel that this relationship can lead to something extremely special, more so than any of them have experienced. However, a love from the past may threaten their happily every after. They are truly put the test.

What I loved most about this book was the relationship between Jasper and Isabella. His love and devotion to his daughter was one of the most beautiful things I have ever read. In other stories I have read alphas/omegas usually had the dynamic where the omegas are the active participants in raising the child and the alpha was more the one who made sure they wanted for nothing. In this case, Jasper was hands on from the very moment Isabella was conceived. Jasper's capacity for empathy made him so much more special as an alpha.

Ellis and Jasper had such an easy repertoire with each other, it seemed as if they had known each other so much longer than the few months since Ellis started working for Jasper. Their connection was just so immediate and special. I loved their story from start to finish and I was sad when it came to an end.

A couple of these stories weren't as awful as Reunited, at least, my opinion of Cole & Olivia.

I'm inclined to wonder just how much these male writers know about real life experiences, narcissistic people's mind games, or about those individuals too wrapped up in their own envy to see how there are ALWAYS two sides to every story when faced with someone they're supposed to love or care about get caught up in a misunderstanding, and they automatically revert to or focus only on the past negative behaviors of that someone.

I could have throat punched Logan's sister Olivia -- first for not thinking to ask WHY Logan felt the need to behave as he did during high school, and secondly for hacing the nerve to tell him HE was wrong for the misunderstanding and Cole's reaction to Logan's arrest and beating. He should have considered the fact the homeless man COULD NOT SPEAK, and waited to hear that man's story before assuming Logan was in the wrong. If he was guilty, why didn't he run? If he actually beat that man as Cole assumed, why would Logan have insisted on seeing whether he would be okay?

In real life, truly nice people don't treat someone they are supposed to love or care for, as Olivia and Cole did Logan. And, is it a wonder Logan suffers from low esteem and no confidence? Olivia is perky, outgoing, everything that is opposite to how Logan presents himself. Surely she saw this as they grew up together, yet all she can remember is how LOGAN was favored for his omega status. Didn't anyone notice he was feeling awkward, and overwhelmed? Not that a selfish beta like his younger sister would care, as all she thought about was herself, and that Logan wasn't nice. Seriously - if she really, truly cared, she would have HELPED HIM! I think she liked that she was more popular, liked by her peers, and talented. Gah! She annoyed me, even when she supposedly did something good for Logan, she managed to cheapen the atmosphere whenever amazingly nice or beautiful things happened to or for Logan. Then we have Cole. I can't even imagine how humiliating and hurtful that situation with Cole felt for Logan. Yep. Team Logan here. As an omega, the poor man was subjected to BS he shouldn't have had to take accountability for. He apologized for his bad behaviors from high school. Olivia, the pretentious witch, never admitted to or apologized for her UNSOLICITED and ERRONEOUS advisements to Logan. Not once. Cole I could forgive, as he did essentially love Logan. However, I don't think Olivia deserved her big brother. No matter how she got him his building for his dream to get off the ground, or helped him dress fashionably. She was the demon character in this story, along with Devon.

Other stories had antiquated thinking, and one-sided viewpoints that put blame where it shouldn't have been placed. Has the writer never heard of devil's advocate, or that every misunderstanding has more than one side? Two stars for the collection, but Reunited gets one star.

This collection of stories is a great bundle to read, the writing was good. The plots were entertaining and steady throughout the stories. I found the stories and characters wonderful. The characters were well developed and thought out.

Family Affairs – Kevin and Matt are the MC’s of this story. Emma, Liam and Charlotte are their nieces and nephew. I loved little Emma and all her many different attitudes. Kevin and Matt lose their brother and sister and must work together to take care of the children. There was humor, Alphas, Omegas, a baby, grief, nieces & nephew, a terrible father, family, love and so much more in this story.

Simple Pleasures – Ellis is an Omega nanny and Jasper is an Alpha surgeon and they are the MC’s of this story. Ellis takes care of Jaspers beautiful daughter Isabella. There was humor, nanny, a hotel, a baby, friends, family, fathers, wedding, love, ex-husband and father and so much more in this story.

Reunited – Cole is an Alpha and Logan is an Omega and they are the MC’s of this story. A story of opposites that meet in high school the Jock and the geek. Who meet ten years later at the high school reunion.

Snowed In – Austin is an Omega and Cody is an Alpha and they are the MC’s of this story. There was humor, Omega, Alpha, twin brothers, wine, betrayal, court, friends, love, tradition and so much more in this story.

Fire of Love – Josh is an Omega who hides his status and Matt is an Alpha and they are the MC’s of this story. There was humor, sportscaster, football, Omega Rights Issues, miscommunications, outed, attack, friends, hotel, job security and so much more in this story.

This is just a very brief summary of what these stories hold and there is more but you will need to read the book which I can recommend as a good and enjoyable read. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

Sweet stories

This author could be so much more if he reread his work before publishing. Almost every story uses the wrong name of a character in the middle of a scene he is not even in. I expect a story to flow chronologically. This author has a habit of writing in the present scene of something that happens later. And please, please, please - don't rush the ending. Considering these stories are interesting, and engrossing, they could be elevated to VERY good with a little more care.

Interesting collection of stories. I have a greater appreciation for the concept of male pregnancy, although there are still details which are a little odd to me, lol. I think it would have been better if the stories were in a different order, because at first I was wondering if there were shifters somewhere in the mix, but there is a nice explanation of the relationship between alphas and omegas in one of the later stories in the collection.

More detailed review to follow.

Wonderful

5 standalone mpreg M/M romances. Every story was different and amazing. Compelling stories with strong characters. I liked the overall theme of confident and independent Omegas. The Alphas were all dominant yet not jerks. Great value and not a bad story in the bunch.

Really good collection of stories.

If your a fan of MM Alpha, Omega and male pregnancy books then this set of books are well worth purchasing. If your new to the genre then this author is definitely worth looking at. His books are lower angst than some but they do have great characters and good solid storylines.

This set of books have 5 full length stories in them all by the same author so if you haven't read this author before then this set of stories is a good purchase. Recommended.

FAMILY AFFAIR: 4.5 stars. This story has a lot of layers and more than a fair share of drama but tons of love. Matt was wonderful with how giving he was. He opened his home and his heart to children he didn't even know. It hurt to see how little self worth he had. For a man how was brilliant, kind, giving, loving and generous to all his upbringing left him seriously lacking in self esteem. Kevin made me want to shake him on several occasions. He was so hung up on Matt's last name that he couldn't see the value of the man in front of him. He came close to losing everything because of his stupid pride. Matt's father was just plain creepy, but that made him a good nemesis. All the side characters were wonderfully supportive and the children while integral didn't take over the story.

SIMPLE PLEASURES: 5 stars! I think this must be one of my favorite Aiden Bates books. The building of a relationship and family. Love, so much love, but struggles and hardships as well. Ellis is amazingly giving and has a kind heart. His love for Isabella and Jasper is unwavering. I like that he wasn't portrayed as weak. When Jasper lied to him, he lets it be known that he wont tolerate it. Jasper's commitment to his daughter and Ellis is just as steadfast. I liked that eventually everyone is pulled in and counted as 'family'.

REUNITED: 5 stars. Terrific book, great characters and plot. I liked Cole. He was dominant in the bedroom, but so sweet with Logan everywhere else. Logan seemed to have a warped sense of himself and a huge chip on his shoulder at the start of the story but there was a giving heart that longed to help others too. I liked that the relationship between these two was built over time. They had a couple of bumps in the road to get to their HEA, but they do. I wish the ending was a bit more drawn out but it was still lovely.

SNOWED IN: 5 stars. Extremely enjoyable book. I loved that Austin was an assertive omega. He wasn't going to bend to fit into anyone's mold. He built a very successful business and a wonderful life that was outside the 'norm'. I loved that Cody wanted Austin just as he was. I liked that he was able to admit that he needed to adjust his perceptions and apologized sincerely when he made mistakes. The side characters are just as interesting and really fill out the story. The ending left me smiling.

FIRE OF LOVE: 5 stars. This one was a little bit of a roller coaster for me. I wanted to shake Matt vigorously, the man was infuriating at a certain point. I loved that his best friend was there to tell him to get his head out of his ass. Josh had so many insecurities but he was also amazing. I liked that in the end Josh was forgiving and Matt really strove to make amends. The only thing I wished to see was real justice meted out to Tim. The ending was super sweet.
