When a madman bomber begins bombing targets in Michigan, he quickly escalates from small targets to the Veterans Administration building in Detroit that he levels with well-placed bombs. Detroit Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms agents investigate four bombings but can’t find any evidence or suspects. Fearing the deranged bomber will escalate even more, ATF Assistant Director Chet Franklin brings home Troy Barclay and Amber Neilson-Barclay from a much-needed vacation in France and tells them to catch the bomber. Within two hours of being back, Troy and Amber spot a suspect watching the bombing site from the top floor of a parking garage and give chase. Dressed in black clothes and a dark hoodie that covers his head, the suspect flees but Troy and Amber run him down but as they close on him, he opens fire on Troy and throws a grenade at Amber which breaks off the chase. They get video footage of the suspect and a positive ID from a facial recognition software but when they go to the man’s home, they get a big, bad surprise that takes him out of contention but the man living in the house turns out to be a better suspect and Troy and Amber dig deep into his background and he becomes their primary suspect and he leads them to his gang. As they close on the suspect, they are ambushed outside of a restaurant and Amber and Troy escape by the thinnest of margins. Meanwhile, they develop two more suspects and have to investigate them, too. But they can’t find the key to nailing their prime suspect until they check the phone records of people who were around the areas at the time of the bombings. They find five burner phone numbers at all of the bombings and in a series of fake calls, learn that their prime suspect owns one of the phones. Troy and Amber are under intense pressure to stop the bomber but in spite of their nearly 24/7 work, the bomber strikes again, leveling the Detroit IRS office. It doesn’t take a genius to see that the bomber’s next target will be an even larger building and Troy and Amber pull out all of the stops. When they go to arrest the prime suspect and his gang, the gang fights back and in a blazing firefight, stops Troy and Amber cold, but Troy stealthily flanks them and the fight is over. They arrest the prime suspect and his gang that Amber labels “the Barstool Cowboy Gang”. The prime suspect admits he and the BCG bombed the first three locations to get attention to the government’s failure to take care of veterans but denies bombing the VA building. The problem for the BCG is that the ATF discovered that the explosive used in all of the bombings came from the same batch. When Troy and Amber express doubt about the prime suspect’s story, he takes them to his C-4 (explosive) stash. It appears all of the missing C-4 can be accounted for but Troy smells some of the C-4 and realizes that all of it is clay—the C-4 has been stolen. But who stole it? It has to be someone close to the BCG so Troy and Amber do background investigations of the BCG’s family, friends and co-workers. When the results come back, they see who the real bomber is and set out to find him but the suspect is way ahead of them and a call from Chet Franklin tells them the bomber is sitting on top of a load of explosives in the mouth of the Detroit/Windsor Tunnel with one Let go the prime suspect and get him there within fifteen minutes or the tunnel is toast. Against insurmountable odds. Troy and Amber have to take down the suspect and save Detroit.
After graduating from Arizona State University with degrees in Zoology and Accounting, Mr. Adams joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation where, as a Special Agent, he investigated general crimes such as bank robberies, kidnappings and extortions as well as specializing in complex financial crimes as a forensic accountant. Mr. Adams went on to work for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as an investigator where he worked bank fraud and embezzlement cases. He has been a licensed commercial and residential contractor and built and developed many housing units. As a lark, he signed on with a small Hollywood literary agency where he worked as a literary agent for many years. While working as an agent, he wrote several scripts and the third one was made into a movie called SECOND CHANCES. Since then he has written, directed and produced a number of award-winning shorts and several feature films. Mr. Adams decided to turn several of his scripts into novels and has six of them on Amazon, including the best-seller, FIRST LADY DOWN.
I have read everyone of the 17 books and each one is outstanding. I eagerly await the next novel. I loved them so much I got my spouse reading them and he loves them also. You will laugh, cry and be captivated by plots and characters in every book.
