His job is to breed the human females, not to love them…

Regan Lawrence is fearless, outspoken, and smart, but all of those things just make life during wartime more difficult. She’s used to being unpopular, so when she is abducted by the enemy race, she isn’t sure whether it’s a good or a bad thing. That is, until she lays eyes on the fiercely sexy Verian enemy who abducts her.

As head of the prison, Zaine Volaire is the strongest men left in his race. He’s well-known for his discipline and drive to help his species win the war against humans. It is his job to see that the females are fed and bred, but things get complicated when he is challenged by the brazen human. She awakens a need in him that makes it impossible to maintain his self-control, and he isn’t sure he wants to.

When Regan lands herself in solitary confinement, everything starts to go awry. Zaine falls prey to a mysterious illness that harms all males of his planet. The only problem is, Regan may be the only one who can save him…

Zaine (Verian Mates) is the first book in the Verian Mates Standalone series. All books in this page-turning Sci Fi Alien Abduction Romance can be read as standalones, there are no cliffhangers, and happily ever afters are guaranteed!

I actually finished the main story. And the rating is based on it. The story had potential but it was so rushed that nothing really got clear. If the author had taken the time to flesh out the story of the Verians and why they think it's the humans' fault that they can't have children it would have made the story so much more enjoyable. There were other things that didn't make sense and they led to an even lower rating than I originally intended.

There are a few bonus novels but I only managed to get through half of the first one. It's a disaster. If I start listing all the things that annoyed me in the few chapters I read I would be here all day. Let me just say that I can't decide which one of the leads is dumber. They're both brain dead and utterly TSTL. And I don't care enough to see if they survive.

I read this one for an ABC Challenge.

It was a short quick read and an okay sifi romance. The story plot was very predictable but it was okay for me.

Breaking All the Rules💘

Zaine🐺🍌🌋 is the tall, handsome, and jacked💪 Verian warrior🔪🔫 in charge of one of the prisons they run for captured human females💋💔 of breeding age. Instead of matching a warrior🐺🍌🌋🔪🔫 to a human mate💋, they treat them like livestock🐄. The men🐺🍌🌋🔪🔫 just come to the prison, mate with the women, then the women💋💔 are moved to another part of the prison to await the birth of the hybrid child. When the 🚼baby is born, it is taken and placed with a Verian family.
The Verians🔪🔫 are at war with earth, they need the women for their race to survive, but they think humans are scum. They think that the humans did something to the Verian women to make them sterile and their children also died. They blame all their problems on humans.
Yula💋💔 is one of the captured human women imprisoned in a large cell with other women. She's the one to question everything, to stir the pot, and be labeled a trouble maker.
Somehow, Yula💋💔 is attracted to Zaine🐺🍌🌋🔪, but for him to reciprocate is against Verian law. He is attracted to her as well, even though he knows he could lose his job and status. He's treading a fine line by taking her out of the cell to talk to her when she causes trouble.
The women just want to go back to 🌎Earth, even though the 🌎Earth is basically a huge war zone now and everything is rationed.
Can Zaine🐺🍌🌋🔪🔫 and Yula💋💕 have a real relationship as mates💘 when Verian society and law is against them?
YEHAW. Ride em Bareback🍌, Cowgirl!🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎

This book is much different than the typical alien abduction romance novel. The women never get individual mates, and they are kept in a prison setting forever. Good story and well written!

This was a great read with a fantastic, interesting story line, complex, engaging characters, witty, sassy & sarcastic banter and sensual, steamy romantic. interludes. It lacked for nothing, and I look forward to more from Sky!

*I received a complimentary ARC of this story in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.

Unlike the others of his kind Zaine Volaire treated the human breeders with a modicum of decency. The Veriens needed them to repopulate the depleting military forces. Their own females sterile the looked to human females to carry their offspring. Then he met Regan Lawence, feisty and brave. He knows he cannot have her, but his desire is burning like a fever through him. Will he turn his back on his people to dale her or will she spend the rest of her live as a breeder for his people?

The two leads are on opposite sides. Both strong willed and determined. They show their strengths in different ways, but both are fighting their attraction looking for a way to be together that will not get them killed. Moves at a stead pace, but I wish the ending had gone beyond the point it did for better clarification.

My rating of "Zaine - Verian Mates - A SciFi Alien Abduction Romance" is 4 out of 5 stars.

Okay

It was okay. There seemed to be quite a bit of information that I was missing. Maybe it was in the prequel that I haven't read. Reagan is one of the women that is kidnapped and taken to another planet to breed for the Verians. The book eludes to her past and that no one likes her but there was no explanation of what happened. She also lost a boyfriend that she thinks he died because of her, but we don't know why.
She meets Zaine on the spaceship and decides that he is nothing like they have been told on earth. She finds him attractive and the feeling is mutual.
There is scientists in the prison that make the women's life miserable with vaccinations and all kinds of experiments including implantation.
The Verians have some disease that rendered the females barren, killed the children that were yet to be born, and made the men gets sick if they could not produce a child to form a bond with.
A relationship between human and Verian is forbidden. So these two must figure out how to make a relationship work.

The plot had such potential, it's rather sad how this turned out.

Whilst reading it I was never quite sure how things were going to go story wise, an interesting setting was introduced but completely ignored. What basically happens is that near the end everything just happens too quickly, with the main couple abandoning everything in the most easy prison escape ever imagined, heading off somewhere where they can ignore the plot and just live. The romance was non-existent, key issues introduced yet not explained or resolved at all, and the main male and female are generic as hell. No other characters were really developed, apart from some potential antagonists that things never get fully resolved with. It's almost like the author got a third of the way through writing it, then got bored and ended everything one chapter later, leaving you staring blankly at 'the End' and feeling shortchanged.

This was so bad that I'm basically writing this series off, and not planning to read the rest. Such a letdown.

Needs more world building

This has the makings of an interesting read but it's to short and lacks any real background for example, what's Regan's history? Why did others know of her? What had she been accused of? Also why do the aliens suspect earth of their problems when there is no real proof and their planet is clearly dying on its own. If you don't mind not wanting to know then it's a reasonable read, but personally I would like a little more body to the story. The additional stories were a bonus.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It wasn't a story to prop up the sex in the book, but it took time to look at the differences between the two races and also their similarities. Their is no right and wrong in this war. Two races trying to survive, but going about it the wrong way. Rachael and Zaine are no different. They are trying to live through war, but how can love happen in such stressful conditions? Truthfully, love makes us see both sides and draws light on the situation.

I received this book as an Advanced Reader Copy and this is my honest opinion.

The Verians want to take over earth. Their planet is dying. The Earth scientists have released a disease on Helna, Verian's home planet, that keeps the females from reproducing and weakens the mails. The Verians are not allowed to love humans but they capture human females and use them in a breeding program. Zaine is a guard were the prisoners are kept. He believes Reagan is a trouble maker and try to keep her from causing problems. This is a really fun read. Characters are done really well and the story line runs through the series.

Well written story about Earth at war with an alien race which abducts our females. The storyline was original with lots of chemistry between Zaine and Regan. I loved how Regan stuck up for others and asked questions again and again regardless the consequences. Both characters were likeable and the story had a good flow to it with a HEA. Will be looking for more of these stories in future. I am giving my voluntary honest review on an ARC I received.

Yawn. Disappointing. On my kindle device, the book ended a 6%. That means there is 94% of space left that is filled with short stories - as this one was too. As the newly abducted women are cowering from the tall alien, he says “my name is Zaine Volaire, but you are to call me Yul, or Yul Volaire. Never, under any circumstances, are you to call me by my first name …” So, I ask the author, what the heck? Why tell them his name to begin with? That little speech made no sense.

Zaine

Sometimes I wonder about Amazon. Have tried to leave a review but was rolls my review was not acceptable. Now look they want a review...that's ok, Ms Sky deserves the review. She has written an interesting and intriguing book. Sometimes I wonder where these authors come up with their ideas. So realistic it makes you wonder if you missed their landings. Trying to be patient waiting on another of the series. A must read series.

3.5-4 stars

It's hard to rate a book when the two characters are basically mortal enemies both out to eradicate the other. Somehow love conquers all :) This isnt a insta-love but journey from enemy to ally-ish and eventually love. Don't want to give away too much detail but don't worry there's a happy ever after.

Also note: the series can be read as complete standalones. In fact I believe the only repeat character is a Dr. whom shows up twice and I still wish we saw his untimely demise.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book for my honest opinions.

I really like this book, but I find it was too short. She could have add a lot more. Great storyline that flows smoothly and a great mix of love, passion, drama, and suspense. Great characters that I really enjoy following throughout the story.

I really want to read more of her books.

I liked the story. The leading lady is strong and outspoken. The lead guy is a bit of a sissy but still loveble. I will be on the look out for the rest of the series. I you like sci-fi this book is a good read.

To many

To many to small stories! I prefer long books with great story growth and characters who jump off the pages. This was hohum.
