This is one where I hate to write a review. Especially because it's clearly a book written by a young hopeful writer, and she's obviously trying. (She's produced two books even! Impressive!) I was given both books as gifts. I won't be reading the second. I remind myself here that reviews are for readers, not authors, and reviews also help me to remember my own reading throughout the year. To that end, I can't give this a good rating.

If you're interested in getting deep into the psyche of a teenage girl, then this is the book for you. It's largely or wholly unedited, enormously repetitive (sometimes literally, a few poems make accidental double appearances) & it doesn't contain a moment of originality. How bad? I'd rather read about lurgid bees from a Vogon. It feels like a mash-up between aphorisms taken from bad instagram poets and cheap, home-decor encouragements. Halfway through as I was reading the line: "You'll get through this" for the umpteenth time, all I could think was, "she must be talking about my reading experience."

The poems are really good. However there are so many typos, and poor grammar and punctuation that it made some poems difficult to read. But all in all, it made me feel. It made me cry. And I did enjoy it.

This is basically what my life feels in a book! I really wish that I would have had this after my breakup!
