Taming Lady Lydia

Rate this book
When her father, Earl Franklin dies unexpectedly, eighteen-year-old Lady Lydia is sent to live with her guardian, the unknown and enigmatic Lord Thomas Markham. Initially eager to leave her new home, Lydia is indignant at her guardian’s firm and protective behaviour, but everything changes that first night when she accidentally discovers something shocking about life at Markham Hall…
Now, in spite of his rules and expectations, the young and indulged Lydia finds herself inexplicably drawn to her guardian. Lord Markham it seems, is a gentleman who will finally provide the firm hand she has always needed, and Lydia begins to crave his discipline, desiring him to take her over his knee and deliver a sound spanking.
With their affections for one another growing, Thomas and Lydia seem set for a bright future if only events would stop conspiring to tarnish their happiness. Can their burgeoning romance survive the scrutiny of Thomas’ mother, the Countess, and the interference of their peers? And can Lydia learn to live by Her Lordship’s governance, and find the happily ever after they so desire?

A surprisingly steamy (and kinky) read, definitely NSFW!

Whilst I'm not normally a fan of historical romance, I do love the domestic discipline versions. I'm guessing it's that the whole 'no sex' culture makes them feel more naughty and taboo. I've read several Felicity Brandon books and love the emotional connection I feel to her heroines, so that along with the blurb really piqued my interest in this book.

This was quite different to what I thought I would get. First off it's a fairly substantial read, longer than most similar books. Being historical it was, in some ways, quite slow burn - as in there wasn't a 'penetration' scene until over half way through the book. It was much steamier than I expected, had much more story and was surprisingly kinky too. In fact, along with the usual spankings, there is a substantial amount of BDSM play in here as well.

Lydia is quite a headstrong and spoilt young lady, her father having been very absent for most of her life. When her father dies she is shocked to find that instead of remaining in London with her Aunt, she is to be sent to live with her new guardian, Lord Thomas Markham. A man she has never met but one she soon discovers takes obedience and discipline very seriously.

I really liked both Lydia and Thomas, even when he led her down a sexual pathway much frowned upon by polite society, he always put her safety and welfare first. Whilst he had high expectations of Lydia that many of us would find unacceptable in this modern age, he also held himself to the same standards. I loved that he apologised to Lydia when he felt that he hadn't lived up to them himself.

The internal musings, forbidden desires and mental battles that Lydia had were so very believable and really helped me connect to her. Had this book been written in a contemporary setting I'm sure she would have been a bratty sub in a BDSM club! However given the time period it was set in, her confusion and worries were very understandable. The conflict between behaving as polite society deemed and, as Helena so wisely advised, only worrying about pleasing her husband and herself was extremely well portrayed.

The only reason this didn't get a 5 star is that it took me a few chapters to 'settle' into the flow of the story. Due to her innocence and lack of carnal knowledge, it wasn't immediately apparent that Lydia was a submissive. As a result I was a little confused as to why the normally headstrong and outspoken girl was suddenly so acquiescent to Lord Markham, it made her seem weak. Once I realised she was responding to the 'Dominance' of her Lord and Master Thomas, I felt much more comfortable with the book. With hindsight I liked how the author wrote this, even if it did throw me at first, since Lydia wouldn't have any knowledge of D/s or BDSM.

Whilst the story concludes really well, with a very definite HFN ending, the epilogue suggests that there is more of Thomas and Lydia's story to be shared in the future. If you like a very erotic and steamy read, with some spanking and BDSM then I do highly recommend this gem of a book.

A beautiful written Regency novel by Felicity Brandon. I love Regency novels and I am adding this to one of my favorites. Lydia becomes the ward of Lord Thomas Markham after the death of her father. Lydia discovers very quickly that the house and the Lordship himself are not your average household. Lord Markham awakens feelings in Lady Lydia she has never felt before and isn’t sure about.

Felicity Brandon does an amazing job of slowly exploring Lydia’s feelings and emotions and struggles she feels on her journey to become an submissive. She is overwhelmed at times and the constrictions of the time make this even harder. There is a wonderful connection between Lydia and Lord Markham, there is an instant attraction and it deepens during the book. It has wonderful written sensual scenes, but for me the emotional journey makes this book special.

Lady Lydia needs sturn guidance and Lord Thomas her guardian will make sure that will happen and put her in her place.Being a Lady she is shocked by how Lord Thomas runs hid household but the curiosity gets to her and starts questioning finding and feeling things that shocks her about herself.Thomas is very Dominant and controlling and nothing slips by him which I loved, and I enjoyed Lydia asking all those personal questions and Thomas answering every single one though embarrassing to her he made her feel wanted, that she had a place in his home and his heart although the age difference was questioned and family thought it wrong these to together was off the charts HOT!!!!! The writing is very detailed and the plot of the story was fantastic it was easy to jump into their world.I voluntarily read a readers copy of this book

What a naughty book! I've read many many historical romance novels but I've never read one like this before. Most historicals are pretty vanilla, this one is definitely another flavor. I loved the story but I didn't always like how complacent Lydia always was. I would have liked a little bit more of a fight. Also the exhibitionist in me wanted to see some action at the ball... instead they went to their room. All in all a good read. It was well written. Next would be to find out what Thomas's mother and Miss Brooks are cooking up.

Taming Lady Lydia by Felicity Brandon was a great historical romance with just enough suspense to keep things interesting. I have always had a special place in my heart for historical romance as it was my first foray into the romance genre. Lady Lydia is extremely sheltered and naïve in the beginning of this book, until the passing of her father and in comes Lord Thomas Markham. Thomas is the man who while older than Lydia is going to usher her into adulthood while having some very explicit and steamy encounters. This was a great book, which about halfway through I realized it was part of a series which made it an ever better book. I am so happy that I picked this one up. If you are looking for a good historical romance with enough steam to rock your e-reader than this is a book that you need to pick up for sure.

Taming Lady Lydia by Felicity Brandon is a very erotic regency/historical romance. It is not a genre that I read very often, but I do enjoy- and this has to be one of the most intense, passionate and compelling historical romances that I have ever read. Ms. Brandon is a new to me author, but that status is definitely changing after reading this book, as I will be going on a one-click spree to purchase all her other books to get very acquainted with her work.
I went into the story thinking that it would be a nice change of pace from what I had been reading, which it definitely was- but what I didn’t expect was to have such a captivating page turner in my hands. I couldn’t put it down, I was glued to my kindle and devouring every word. The story was so different from a lot of other books in this genre- it t had a great storyline, wonderful characters, and a whole lot of kink. The story contains a great romance and has spanking, BDSM elements, and graphic sex scenes. This book is one incredibly titillating read that captured me right from the beginning, and held me spellbound right till the end.
Lady Lydia Franklin is a very defiant and willful young lady. She lives a life of privilege in London- she’s a ‘proper’ young English maid who has led a rather sheltered life and been spoiled by her wealthy father since her mother passed away when she was very young. At almost 19 years old she is used to getting her own way in everything and has a feisty nature.
When her father dies unexpectedly, Lady Lydia has no choice but to go and live with her guardian, as stated in her father’s Will. She doesn’t want to leave her home in London, especially since her Guardian’s large estate is way out in the rural countryside. She thinks she will be able to convince her guardian to let her return to London and reside at her home there.
But when Lydia arrives, she finds that her Guardian takes his responsibility for her care very seriously. He has no intention of letting her run roughshod over him. Lady Lydia is about to find her world turned upside down when he imposes rules and discipline into her very indulged life. Lydia is about to get an eye opening, world changing education that will change her perspective completely.
Lord Thomas Markham is a gentleman with his own titles and estates. He’s incredibly wealthy, having inherited his father estates when he died. He is classically handsome, mysterious, with a commanding presence. He has a controlling nature and likes everything to be in order, and also places great importance on honesty. Thomas has indulged his rather unconventional tastes when it comes to carousing and finding his release. But now he is determined to put his bachelor ways behind him and become the best guardian he possibly can be.
When he meets Lydia for the first time, he is intrigued by the beautiful young lady with such a contrary nature. But he will not abide by her willful ways. She will follow his rules or be disciplined.
What happens when Lydia sees something she shouldn’t? Something that arouses more than her interest? What happens when she is introduced to Lord Thomas’s form of discipline? What happens when she starts craving his boundaries and discipline? You will really have to read this story and discover all the wonderful details for yourself!
A brilliant story of discovery, love and passion!
I can’t wait for more from this author!

Thank you, Ms. Brandon!

Typing with one hand, while fanning myself with the other. Holy buckets this book… In the synopsis the publishers added a note stating that this story includes spankings and sexual scenes...Ummm yea, there was, written absolutely beautifully I might add.

I love a controlling alpha in my stories, and Lord Thomas Markham defines controlling alpha, he doesn't miss anything and Lady Lydia has learned this quite thoroughly. What started out as her becoming his ward after the death of her father quickly turned in to Lydia, who is almost 19 experiencing things about herself that she would probably never have realized had she not moved to Markham Manor. None of this was missed by Lord Thomas as he was also experiencing feelings he wasn't sure how to handle. What they felt for each other was impossible to deny. The process of them falling in love was so sweet, well in between the punishments since Lady Lydia just couldn't control her insolence and constantly misbehaved, sometimes not even meaning to. When he proposes and she accepts I was worried something was bound to happen, but it wasn't till after the wedding we realize that not everyone is happy about this union, and there's trouble on the horizon. Can the bond that these two share be strong enough to get them through whatever is being planned for them, or will the rumors from his past just strengthen these plans and be their downfall?

I completely enjoyed this story, it had a smooth flow to the storyline and was hard to put down while reading. I can not wait for the next book in this series, I didn't even realize it was a series till I read the last words and I will follow, like and stalk this author till I see news of the next part.

Awesome Book!! Loved It!!

After thoroughly enjoying this book, I am most certain that I should have been born a lady in the 1800’s! Although, the part I didn’t like in this story, and I am sure it really is just fitting for the time set, was that Lydia has no purpose other than being Thomas’ ward, possession, and eventually his wife. Her innocence in all things sexual has been given to Thomas to direct as he chooses. While the idea of having no responsibilities sounds great, I wish Lydia and other ladies of that time, had other purposes.

With that said, this book still satisfies! I really enjoyed this story! Taming Lady Lydia is devious and delicious. And Lady Lydia agrees:

“…something has been done which cannot be undone. I have entered the darkness of a world from which I cannot ---and do not want to ---retreat from.”

Felicity Brandon writes a story that seems taboo and maybe during the 1800’s these sexual situations were very taboo. The main character, Lady Lydia, expresses her shock, often, at the situations Lord Thomas wants to introduce her to.

This story is not for the faint of heart or even the young, under 18 reader. This story includes sexually submission situations. I do recommend this story to those that like hot and spicy stories, spankings, and even a little bondage.

This is a full length book about the evolution of Lydia and Thoma’s relationship. In reality the whole book takes place on little over a month but we get lots of action and lots of details. Lydia grows up and learns more about herself from her relationship. I enjoyed this book and the many spankings in it. Felecity knows how to write a spanking scene! I will say I wish I hadn’t read the epilogue as it doesn’t really help the story any it mainly sets up the plot for a sequel which to my knowledge doesn’t exist yet.

Taming Lady Lydia
By: Felicity Brandon
5 out of 5 stars

The story Taming Lady Lydia by Felicity Brandon is a historical romance book. This genre is one that I don’t read frequently however found myself drawn to the cover and the description of the story. I am so glad that I decided to read it as I found this to be a wonderful book. It drew me in from the beginning and I found myself not wanting to put it down until I had finished reading the entire story. I loved reading about the characters of Lady Lydia and Lord Thomas. Lady Lydia when first introduced is a young woman used to getting her way. She was very spoiled. When her father dies she is sent to live with Lord Thomas who is to be her guardian and her world begins to change. She finds that he runs a very disciplined household. The form of discipline that he uses has Lady Lydia confused about her reactions to it. She soon finds herself craving the order and discipline that he provides and the sensual feelings that such discipline awakens in her. She also finds him drawing her out of her comfort zone. Lord Thomas is a man that is mysterious and also very dominant. While he has agreed to be Lady Lydia’s guardian he was not expecting to have the feelings for her that he does. Both Lord Thomas and Lady Lydia live in a time when there are some personal preferences that if made public would cause a scandal. It is also a time when there is always the worry about how actions would appear to others and Lady Lydia at first constantly worries about appearances. As the story progresses she becomes a more confident person. There is someone that is not accepting of their relationship and this does cause stress to their lives, especially for Lady Lydia. Both Lady Lydia and Lord Thomas feelings for each other only deepen. Will these feelings lead them to a future together that includes marriage? This is the first book that I have read by the author and I found she has written a wonderful story and has created amazing characters. I can’t wait to read what she writes next. This book does deal with mature subject matter and has plenty of scenes that are red hot and steamy. It would be recommended for those 18 years of age or older.

Taming Lady Lydia by Felicity Brandon is a historical romance erotic story. This is the first story that I have read by this author and I enjoyed it. Her writing style is such that it will pull you in from the first word and keep you engaged until the end. Her attention to details will pull you in from the beginning. Her creative characters are connectable, lovable and will pull you into their world. They will take you on a roller coaster ride of various emotions that you will need to cool off one minute and feel compassion the next. This is the story of Lady Lydia and Lord Thomas. Lady Lydia has recently just lost her father and has been sent to live with a distant cousin. She doesn't know what to expect nor does she realize what she is getting herself into. In comes, Lord Thomas. Lord Thomas rules his manor differently then most. He has expectations of his staff and those that are under his care. What will she do when she accidentally sees the consequences for being defiant? She becomes a little confused but yet intrigued. Will it become more clear for her when she defies him and she receives her first punishment? What happens after that is the start of revealing secrets and learning to go out of comfort zones. The attraction between these two will blow you away. Lady Lydia is a character that is a little naive, she is a lady of course. I enjoyed that she is a little feisty and is curious about Lord Thomas's lifestyle. He has awaken feelings that she has never felt before. Lord Thomas has to have control and has to have her. He is strong and is determined to protect her and make her his. I loved these two. The banter back in forth will keep you reading just to find out what these two will do next. The secondary characters in this story are just as enjoyable but some will shock you. They do make the story flow into what it is right along with Lydia and Thomas. I think that all of these characters grow throughout the story and just make this story enjoyable. I highly recommend Lady Lydia and Lord Thomas's story. I know you are going to want to see what happens when naive meets controlling. This story is not for anyone under the age 18 as it does have spanking and sexual situations that will heat you up!

In Taming Lady Lydia, we're introduced to Lydia Franklin who after losing her father goes to live with her new guardian, Lord Thomas Markham; a man she's never even set eyes on. Understandably, there is some reluctance on her part, which turns into bratty behavior. Not to worry, though, Mr. Markham has high standards for those who are part of his life, either in his employ, or his ward, and a definite means of seeing that those standards are upheld.

Lydia was, to me, a very well-written character and how I envisioned a woman of that era would act. She has a constant internal battle over how scandalized she should be with Lord Markham's means of behavioral corrections, yet she can't seem to get enough of it and enjoys it. Lord Markham was an alpha male with a caring side and delivered domestic discipline when necessary. Those scenes, though! Whoa, this is one H.O.T. book!!! Ms. Brandon has become one of my new favorite authors of domestic discipline books.

I really enjoyed this book, but I removed a star because Lord Markham had a short-coming that bothered me in that he was, at times, contradictory. The first occurrence of this is when Lord Markham attempts anal play. Lydia refuses, not once, but a couple times, and Lord Markham threatens to tie her up and do it anyway. Shortly thereafter, in another scene, Thomas won't kiss Lydia without her consent. That one had me scratching my head. The second instance is when Thomas tells Lydia that he'll punish her in front of company, but after learning that another character got information about their private life out of Lydia, he tells her that what transpires between them is a private affair. Given that said other character is one that Thomas was all-too willing to punish Lydia in front of, I found this rather odd.

Overall, this book is one that I would definitely recommend and though I received an ARC, I purchased it, too. Be warned, however, that the ending was somewhat of a cliffhanger, but I don't mind, because I'll be looking for the next one in the series!

Taming Lady Lydia by Felicity Brandon is an excellent, 5 star worthy period novel. I love the fact that this book was sort of like Fifty Shades of Gray meets Pride and Prejudice. The characters in this book are all very well written and the manor of speech takes me right back to one of my high school English classes when I had the pleasure of reading Jane Austen novels.

The life the characters lead in this book is unacceptable for the time period they live in. Lydia moves from London to live with Thomas Markham after her father dies. It was his wish that she would be a ward under his watch. She plans on only to stay for a short while and promptly return to her home, but stumbles across a scene that changes her plans.

Thomas lives his life as a dominant and sees something submissive in Lydia. Once Lydia gets her first spanking for talking out of turn, she can’t seem to get enough. After her first spanking for Thomas, that is it, he is in love, he marries Lydia and everything seems wonderful, and finally the two characters can be together. Que Thomas’ creepy best friend William, who wants nothing more than to sleep with Lydia himself, and a scheming mother, who wants nothing more than to ruin their marriage.

The ending epilogue hints at another book and I for one hope that another book does come out. I have a feeling that things are about to get real messy for the newlywed couple with a mom like Thomas’s mother. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone, as I mentioned above, likes a good mix of a sexy period book.

Taming Lady Lydia by Felicity Brandon is an intriguing, compelling late Victorian era romance surrounding Lydia Franklin and Lord Thomas Markham. I particularly enjoy historical romances and this is no exception. The characters are compelling, if a tiny bit lackluster. I wish Lydia’s defiance was more pronounced and Thomas was a bit insufferable but it fit within the narrative and time period. I can tell a decent amount of research went into the interactions between members of English society and I very much appreciate that. There is no overuse of any foul words, even in the most intimate and erotic of passages. While I’m not trying to say I don’t swear or that I don’t enjoy books that swear, I feel as though it is wildly overused in romance novels and detracts from the story. Felicity Brandon is able to convey everything that is needed and much more with imagery and adjectives, which I personally think says an awful lot about her ability as an author. I look forward to reading more of her work and I hope to find something with a more medieval feel, which I tend to favor.

A well written regency story that caught me from the beginning to the end. It has drama, action, passion, emotional ups and downs, feelings and chemistry. A not fast paced story that lets the reader know the feelings and development of the main characters. The instant connection and affection between the main characters develops through the story.
I like that Markham is bold and goes for what he wants. He has to settle and break away to get the one thing that he really cares about. Lydia is innocent but very sassy and curious. She learns to know herself and her feelings. This couple is made for each other and they have to struggle with family and friends to get their happily ever after. Can they make it? You have to read the book.
I can only recommend this amazing read. I love books about this period and this one did not disappoint me. It is true to the time, people and places.

I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.

Taming Lady Lydia
By Felicity Brandon

It was the year 1813 when Lady Jane receives a letter, the letter contained news that her brother Earl George Franklin had passed away while performing his duties in the Royal Navy. Lady Jane’s thoughts immediately went to her niece Lady Lydia. Lady Jane was fretful as to know who would be stepping forward to be the guardian of her wilful niece. But she didn’t have to worry as her brother already had someone in mind to be her niece’s new guardian. The person who would now be responsible for Lady Lydia would be Lord Thomas Markham. Lady Lydia had never met this man and now she would have to live with him until she was either married or reached the age of twenty-one. Lady Lydia could not work out why her father would entrust a man she had never met to be her guardian. Lady Lydia wondered why she couldn’t stay with her Aunt Jane after all her Aunt was good to her when under their roof. Lady Lydia was not impressed when she reached Markham Hall and there was no one to greet her on arrival. She was even less impressed that this Lord Markham was also absent on her arrival. When told Lord Markham was away on family business Lady Lydia could not believe that there was something more important than her at this moment.
With the death of her father, Lady Lydia’s fate was now sealed, and she wasn’t happy about having to be under the guidance of this Lord Markham, she wondered what would now become of her.
A thought did run through her mind about running away, but how far would she get?

Taming Lady Lydia by Felicity Brandon is an adult romance crossed with a period drama. It is set in a time when ladies were assumed to be innocent and incapable and had to be looked after by a man until they “came of age”. We first meet Lady Lydia after the death of her father and before she is to meet her new guardian, the mysterious Lord Thomas Markham. She is a naïve, spoilt young lady accustomed to getting her own way. What Lord Markham teaches her is far beyond what she would have imagined him to!
I enjoyed the juxtaposition of the staid times with the wild antics of the main characters. Lord Thomas has wild tastes but is ultimately a caring man and does care for his ward. Lady Lydia is fascinated by the world to which Lord Thomas opens her up. The Pembrokes are an entertaining couple too. This book had me hot under the collar on many occasions. The awakening of Lydia to this new world was described perfectly and the reader’s interest piqued with hers.
This is a bodice-ripping, bottom-slapping romance that is definitely only suitable for over 18s. A different version of the BDSM contemporary romances which have flooded the market, in my opinion, setting it in a different century gave it something to make it stand out.

Taming Lady Lydia by Felicity Brandon is a historical Romance about a young woman having to live with her guardian once her father died. The only trouble is she is having feels for this domineering man but he feel the same way towards her.

Lady Lydia has moved in with her guardian Lord Thomas after her father has dies, the only trouble is that he runs a very orderly house and Lydia is used to getting her own way, some people would say she was spoilt. Although Lord Thomas likes his rules followed if they are broken she must be punished.

As this goes on Lydia has feelings towards the discipline he dishes out to her and comes used to and starts to anticipate and wanting it. Although Lord Thomas is a private and dominant male character he starts to develop feeling towards his ward but in this age this would have been frown upon. As there feels deepen for each will this be enough to stop the doubters and that they could live happily ever after.

Although this is not my usual gene I did enjoy the book and the writing drawn you into the story from the first chapter. Although at the beginning Lydia's character was a little weak but by the end of the story you could see that she was finding her feet as a woman and knew what she wanted in the end.

Good Historical with spanking.

This is a good historical novel with quite a bit of spanking. Sometimes bare bottom spanking with the hand other times bound and gagged with the crop used on Lydia and then fucked hard, other times bound on a spanking bench and spanked first with his hand and then with a paddle used on her bare bottom and then fucked hard. There is also oral sex and anal sex. I recommend this book. I am hoping for a sequel.

Lady Lydia is young and naive. Lord Thomas Markham is worldly and dominating.
I truly think he came to care for her. For me, he seemed a bit controlling, and I get that is the point. The story was woven beautifully together and I was intrigued with the synopsis. Felicity Brandon's storytelling is wonderful.
Thank you, Felicity for the chance to read Taming Lady Lydia.

I went into Training Lady Lydia with a little hesitation. Normally I cannot read historical/regency novels because of my educational background BUT I was actually surprised that I enjoyed this book.

So we meet Lydia who becomes the ward of Lord Thomas Markham after her father passes away. She really likes to push boundaries but soon realizes that Lord Markham has quite an interesting way of dealing with discipline. What I loved the most was that we really saw how she dealt with her feeling as she was discovering a new side of discipline. She’s confused but it awakens feelings in her she doesn’t understand. I love that we discover that with her.

You cannot help but utterly swoon over Lord Markham. The attraction was REAL from the beginning but only grew as you read on!

I love reading about a submissive that didn’t really understand / know that they were one. I love batting through their journey with them until they reach their acceptance. Their attraction is instantaneous but the build to the end was well worth it. I definitely want to read more from Felicity Brandon and cannot wait for my next one-click

Taming Lady Lydia by Felicity Brandon
4 Stars

Historical romance is a genre I haven’t delved much into but when I saw the synopsis for Felicity Brandon’s Taming Lady Lydia I was definitely intrigued.
Taming Lady Lydia did not skip a beat on heart racing romance, and the relationship between the naive, innocent Lady Lydia and the stern Lord Markham did not disappoint. At the beginning of the novel I was more drawn to Lord Markham and his strong nature but as the storyline progressed I really began to admire Lydia, specifically her relationship with staff. Despite the main storyline being focused on Lydia and Thomas, I was really drawn to the peers of Lord Markham and of course, the devious countess. I found their peers to be intriguing, and admired their disregard for reputations.
While the book starts off grabbing your attention immediately, I was most captured in the middle, and by the time I read the epilogue I was certainly left wanting more!
Overall I truly enjoyed my first experience with historical romance, specifically Felicity Brandon, and I will definitely be exploring more of her writing.

I was not sure I would enjoy this book, but I am glad I read it. I enjoyed every page. This story is set in 1813 the writing style to start with was hard at first but the more you read the easier the old English is to follow.
I would recommend Taming Lady Lydia written by Felicity Brandon to anyone who loves a book that is set in the old English times where you have Lords, Lady's and countesses.
This story follows Lady Lydia. Lydia has just lost her father and is now being moved to the country to becoming the ward of Lord Markham. Lydia is a young 18-year-old who is sheltered, spoiled & innocent. She is not overly happy to be going to Lord Markham.
Lord Markham (Thomas) is the head of the manor, he is very dominant and controlling and nothing slips by him. Lady Lydia is intrigued with the way he runs things at the manor. Thomas has stirred up feeling within Lady Lydia that she is embarrassed about.
You will have to read the book to find out if Lord Markham and Lady Lydia will have a happily ever after

I was looking for a good historical romance. When I read, I am typically all over the place with the books I choose, and it had been a while since I had read a good historical romance. I chose Taming Lady Lydia and it did not dissapoint. The romance was steamy, much more than what I was expecting, written beautifully. It takes submissive relationships to a whole other level and back to a different time period.

I also loved the storyline, Brandon did tell a story and not just write steamy scenes. I actually think the character development in this book is some of the best I read in a while, Brandon really showcases the emotional development throughout the book which I enjoyed.

A few warnings, this is most definitely adult audience only! It is also ends in a bit of a cliff hanger so be prepared to find more steamy treats from Brandon.

I give Taming Lady Lydia 5 out of 5 stars and can't wait for my next read from Brandon.

I won't repeat the premise of the book, which is adequately covered in the blurb and other reviews, but this Regency erotic romance is head and shoulders above other such books I have read. It is written with a light touch, adequately exploring the timidity and naivety, with the occasional spoilt outburst, of Lady Lydia Markham, and Lord Thomas Markham, the man appointed as her guardian on the death of her father.

Lord Markham has had a racy past and is very keen on spanking ladies bottoms, while Lady Markham has never been spanked in her life. There is bound to be a clash between them, but Lydia is surprised to find that she isn't quite so averse to a spanked bottom as she thought she was. Slowly she is enticed into Thomas' secret world, and Thomas is surprised and delighted to find that she can be quite a naughty girl for him.

The characters in this story are well-drawn and enticing, and reading the book can lead to more fidgeting on the seat than usual. It is very erotic in a slow-burning way, and I'm pleased to see that a sequel is planned. An excellent book. You won't regret buying it.

When her father dies, Lydia’s care becomes entrusted to Lord Markham as per her late father’s request. Lydia is headstrong and independent and vows that she will return home to London as soon as possible, only going to Lord Markham’s residence as a formality. However, upon wandering the halls of the gigantic house one evening, Lydia happens across an unusual occurrence that leaves her both fascinated and confused.

After trying to hide her eavesdropping, Lord Markham introduces Lydia to his brand of punishment. Having never been exposed to such lurid affairs, Lydia is unsure how to respond. Slowly she begins to allow herself to accept the emotions and desires that have been awakened within her and finds herself thrown into a new, and hidden world.

This book is definitely meant for adults 18+. There are some things in the book that may be triggers for people, and some occurrences in the book could be construed to be abuse by those unfamiliar with alternative lifestyles and how they work. Overall it was an entertaining read and not at all what I expected from the general synopsis given.

Taming Lady Lydia by Felicity Brandon is a fantastic example of historical fiction. It takes a popular genre and fills it full of passion that I don’t often find in books such as these.

When Lydia’s father passes she is sent to love with the formidable Lord Markham. Grieving and ripped from her world Lydia has to try and adjust quickly, or face the consequences.

Lord Markham has vowed to keep Lydia safe and in line. If the only way to do that is to show her a bit a strictness and punishment then so be it. He just didn’t expect that by showing her this it would lead to the potential of more.

Such a great book. Not an author I had heard of before but one I will definitely be exploring more of going forward I enjoyed everything about this book. Well written, engaging and so full of passion I could not put it down. A must read for sure.

Entertaining spanking romp

The thing which struck me most was the way the author conveyed Lydia’s confusion and mixed-up emotions so well. It’s a richly-written story about a very naïve and indulged young lady who finds that life with her guardian unexpectedly opens her to new experiences.

I didn’t find a great deal of tension or drama in the story, and few twists, but not every story needs them to be entertaining. If you like a combination of wealthy regency characters, spanking and romance, you’re probably going to enjoy this story.

We’re left with an opportunity for a follow-on story, which might allow the development of one or two hints into new adventures for Lydia.
