His very natural, easy-going style would lead you to believe that James Van Praagh is chatting with a friend on the telephone, not communicating messages from the grave. James is a survival evidence medium, meaning that he is able to bridge the gap between two planes of existence, that of the living and that of the dead, by providing evidential proof of life after death via detailed messages. "I'm clairsentient," he explains, "which simply means clear feeling. I feel the emotions and personalities of the deceased. I am also clairvoyant," he adds, clarifying that, "the first is feeling, the second is seeing, very much like Whoopi Goldberg in the movie, Ghost." The true essence of the messages are the feelings behind the words. James is an expert on this subject, since he has been in touch with those feelings most of his adult life. "The spirits communicate by their emotions. No words exist in the English language, or any other for that matter, which can describe the intense sensations."

Personality traits come in as well. If a person was talkative while alive, he will come through with plenty to say. James also relays physical traits and death conditions as evidence. The book that accompanies the spiritual 'tarot cards' is beautiful . It is a small book of 111 pages. Should you choose to read the meanings of all the cards BEFORE you use them, good for you. OR, you could read the book pages for the cards you draw when you caste your spread. I would recommend using them every day to get messages to guide you.

This is thus a GREAT book for anyone interested in spirituality and personal development. Each card has a wonderful quotation, and there are about 87 of them. The cards are pretty, rugged, and sturdy and will not wear out on you too. The book has really easy instructions for clearing the energy in the cards, imbuing them with yours and how to use them. Very very easy. And it is so flexible, you can create your own system for using them, such as drawing one daily with a question or making a template for 6 or 8 cards with they key question for each square and you draw and place the card on the template. And then refer to the book for the meaning.

The book has two great parts. First it is van Praagb's first 21 pages explaining the cards themselves and their use in your life, and most importantly, "Who are the guides?' and the prayers to use to communicate with your guides and higher self. It is such a clear insightful explanation of your life here in this physical dimension, "nature creates the vehicle, and Spirit chooses the driver." Then second, is the description in the book for the meaning of the quote on the card. What that message means to YOU, NOW, and to your intentions for that card, or that square on a template etc.

Why use? According to the little book: The cards help you tune in and keep you on the right track. I say the cards ALSO help you with no judgement, no woo-woo spiritual or religious messaging either. Van Praagh says, the book and cards are instruments, reminders of what your soul understood was the reasons you incarnated. What you needed to discover, why you are here. The book and cards help you identify the areas of your life that need clarification and understanding.

My FAV quote from van Praagh is, "...there is no such thing as 'time,' and your soul is limitless. So while your awareness seems like it is focused on this life right now, our 'current life,' is not the only game in town. Your soul is the ultimate multitasker!"
