The social experiment says the odds are in their favor, Rowen and Sophie says they aren’t.From New York Times, USA TODAY, & Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Addison Moore.*Romantic Comedy*Rowen Garret is a jerk of the highest order. I knew signing up for some experimental dating experience would not pan out to be a good thing, but after kissing a stranger in the dark for five solid savory minutes only to have the lights come on and expose him for the jerk he is, I have the sudden urge to strangle my new roommate who talked me into this nightmare.Sophie Meyer is a handful. I should know, I hung out in her living room for so long I became a fixture. But that was when her older brother, Braden, and I actually got along, before he snatched my long time girlfriend out from underneath me and stopped speaking to me as if I were the one who hijacked his life. And now here I am with his feisty little sister in my arms, her face lit up in horror at the thought of what we’ve just done. I would never kiss Sophie Meyer under normal circumstances, never even entertain the thought. Nope, this was a bad idea through and through. This is one social experiment I never want to think about again. But one thing is for sure. I will never forget that kiss.

Sweet story with a really smart mouthed heroine and sweet sexy hero.
But there was so much of this story that rang of high school drama. When a plot evolves around people evading the truth and lying, it makes for a predictable story.
All in all the hero should have come clean years ago. And as for the heroine believing the lie her brother told her? I couldn't for the life of me see how she could think the hero's girlfriend ended up with her brother without her brother somehow fucking up. Ya, you may wonder what I'm talking about but just know a lot of the drama was a bit over the top and childish. What surprised me most was the illogical and violent reaction theses ADULTS had upon hearing that the hero and heroine are together.
As for the experiment? It was more like a reality TV show. Not something that any well to do College would allow taking place on Campus.
Although they were students, there was little to no academia going on here. He was a football star that seemed to never be playing and she was a student who seldom studied.
As for the sex scenes... snooze!
I think this story was cute, but needed a lot a maturing.
DNF Ehhh it was ok but it was just so CLICHÈ and I couldn’t take it anymore. The main female character was both SUPREMELY annoying and also quite funny, the guy was the classic man-whore reputation guy who’s all dark and mysterious and crap, and I really just couldn’t deal with the temperamental issues of the chick and the insta-love issues with both of them. Maybe I’ll read it later when I need something light and fluffy? But for now I have too many other good books to read ;)
I really like the way this series is going, I really enjoyed getting to know the characters Rowen Garret & Sophie Meyer. I can't wait to read more by Author Addison Moore. *****5 STARS*****
The more I read Addison's work the more I'm in love with the characters. They wrap an invisible cloak around your heart keeping you close to them long after the words bleed off the page.
It's light, fun, exotic, at heartfelt, yet full of spunk. It hilariously funny yet so real it makes you feel you're apart of the story -Nook Books and More Blog.
Wow what a crazy ride this story is! Braelyn and Paisley grew up in the foster care system and they left it together. They embark on different endevers in order to find their own way. The twist and turns leaves you wondering and plotting through the entire story. It involves a cat and mouse game between several characters that definitely keeps you on your toes. lol Wow, Ms. Moore you rocked my world with this cliffhanger!
The main characters of this book are hilariously funny, witty, and charming. The cluster of friends have a unique bond and explain the average lives and experience people endure. The story brings a true life experience out of it along with a love that's desirable in any eye. The writing is flawless... in typical Addison Moore fashion it flows beautifully and has that perfect balance of inner thoughts and character conversation. The characters each have their own voice and the world build is amazing.
I would highly recommend this series and really any book that this author has ever written . She pulls her heart in soul into her writing. She's impeccable in her writing skills let me tell ya! It's refreshing when you're pushed for time.
I enjoyed this read ever so much!! It pulled me in from the get-go. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen the very valid criticisms this has and even have some of my own but to be entirely honest, this was just good old fun.
Sophie was an interesting protagonist. I really loved her humour but she often went that step too far, she didn’t necessarily need reeling in, but some of the things she said were just plain weird, not “haha goofy” weird either. At one point she talks about seeing her brothers genitals and also basically calls her dad hot…yeah, you see where I’m coming from. Despite this, she definitely pulled the most smiles out of me. She just seemed so comfortable and confident in herself, it was a lot of fun to follow.
Rowan was after my heart. He was so sweet at times but also gave me butterflies, the way he thought about Sophie really kept me going. I loved the kinda forced proximity thing they had going on even though it wasn’t exactly forced, they both just always turned up.
Now, the main criticism I see about this book is how childish the characters are…I completely agree. It all felt like such teen drama that would easily be resolved with some clear communication. Not to mention all the boys having the “grrr that’s my little sister, she can’t date until shes 50” mentality. It got tiring. They were all just so immature and I definitely would have enjoyed this so much more had we seen these issues dealt with in an adult way.
Oh well, I was still very much a fan of this read, it almost felt like a bit of a guilty pleasure.
Addison has done it again!! This book is so amazing and just swoon worthy. Addison has a way with her words that come out like rich, gold words. The storyline is phenomenal and the characters are amazing! I felt like I was in this book from beginning to end and I love it. This is a book where the characters are in college and there's this new expierment that's all the rage on campus. Sophie is a freshman who gave her heart away when she was a teen to her older brother's best friend Rowan. Leland campus has their very own star quarterback, Rowan, and Sophie hurts every time she sees him around campus. Will Sophie ever get the courage to come out of her shell and try to get her friend Rowan back? Will she find someone else instead? Will she join the new Social Expierment even though she hates the idea of meeting someone through that? Find out now and grab your copy of The Social Expierment. You will not be disappointed.
This was, as usual, a fantastic read!! I really loved it! There is just something about a forbidden love story that I love! The characters Sophie and Rowen are hilarious! Seriously laugh out loud funny and Sophie is super sarcastic and snippy! Braden Sophie’s brother and Rowan have been best friends forever. Until a girl broke them up. Mindy, Rowan’s sister and Sophie’s best friend had to chose sides. She didn’t chose Sophie. Now three years of not speaking to each other Sophie and Rowan find themselves face to face partaking in a social experiment. This book is all kids of hot! The chemistry between the two is off the charts! I would definitely want all to read this book!! Another hit from the amazing Addis Moore!!
I won’t be doing a proper review for this book because although I did reach the end, I skimmed most of it.
It was really fun at first but at about 25%, I started to get bored. I had several problems with it. Sometimes, it is too cheesy and the conversations are a bit ridiculous. Sophie is too sarcastic and not in a good way. Rowen — although described as someone close to perfect — is not a character you would fall in love with.
It was disappointing but I got this book for free on Amazon so no regrets.
The Social Experiment was everything. Sophie is hell of a spit fire and I loved her personality. Rowen definitely surprised me and I love how the two of them clicked. Even with there shared past and with the TSE it worked for the better. I couldn't stop laughing and the antics they both did was everything.
I went into The Social Experiment pretty excited... here is this storyline that I haven't read before that includes my favorite trope - brother's best friend.... but with a twist.
The writing is flawless... in typical Addison Moore fashion it flows beautifully and has that perfect balance of inner thoughts and character conversation. The characters each have their own voice and the world build is amazing.
Sophie was a fun character. She's quirky and doesn't give two ducks about what people think. She's thoughtful, a good friend, loyal, and fair. But, OMG is she funny - sometimes she takes it too far but it was easy to see it was a defense mechanism.
Rowen was.... okay. I have mixed feelings about him and it's more or less because of the "I have screwed every female with in a 10 mile radius" trope that kinda turned me off. I get it, he was hurt - badly... but why the constant reminder of his whoredom? I'm not sure when or why that became sexy or fun to read but it's kind of a mood killer. With that said - man is that dude pretty damn loyal, it was so refreshing!
The secondary characters... well, I wasn't too impressed with Rowen's sister - talk about obnoxious, her physically attacking and verbally assaulting Sophie after her obnoxious obsession with Boomer was ridiculous, I most likely would not read her story! I really liked Vi and Em - they really had Sophie's back, I'd love to read their stories! Sophie's brother - no excuse dude and very little redemption, I'm not sure if I'd be interested in his story at this point.
There were definitely pros and cons to The Social Experiment and I would more than recommend it to my fellow readers who love NA reads!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book. This book.......Wow. Amazing. I love Addison Moore's writing and she proved again what an amazing writer she is., I couldn't put the book down. The book is like always very well written and the characters are so real. The story is very captivating and filled with swoon worthy moments. Can't wait for the second book.
Really cute story! I loved the main characters, Rowen and Sophie, and the plot centering around a college social experiment really intrigued me. Unfortunately, there were a few thin places in the story that bugged me a bit but nothing so threadbare that I still didn’t enjoy it. One thin spot was that I really didn’t feel the reason for severing their life-long friendships was excessive enough. To me, it was apparent where the ‘secret’ the boys kept was headed but I thought maybe there would be more to it. I think I would’ve used the supposed baby to add some drama here. It was just a blip on the plot radar but not being sure who the father was, or maybe the loss of the baby being blamed on the other guy, would’ve made the split more believable. After the big reveal, I really couldn’t understand why Braden hated Rowen so much. I could understand Braden feeling guilty but he hated Rowen with a fierce passion. Maybe because he knew he’d chosen wrong and Becca wasn’t worth it? To me, it should’ve been Rowen who was the hater. Of course, Braden helped him dodge a bullet so maybe he just felt grateful, instead. I also felt that the social experiment could have been more involved in the story. I would’ve liked deeper details and maybe more mystery. Like, after the initial ‘meeting’, the lights were kept off and they didn’t find out who their match was until after ‘greeting’ each other on the second date... or maybe, like the Dating Game show of the 70’s, they asked each other a bunch of questions, anonymously, of course, before, or after kissing in the dark.... Anyway, this book got my mind going in all directions and kept me entertained, just like a good read should.

This story is billed as a romantic comedy and while agree there is funny banter between Rowan and Sophie here and there the rest is actually kind of sad at times due to the immaturity of the cast of characters. For the most part can honestly say I wanted to knock the main characters heads together more than once so they could get it together and end their feud.
I do enjoy Addison Moore as she takes the reader back to their own younger days and in my case makes me realize my early life experiences were very blessedly normal after all.
I was trying to figure out if i have read anything from Addison before?? i found the right cover. definitely prefer this cover of the other!??! such chemistry and attraction between these 2. i see it is a series, i look forward to more from Addison ... more in this series ... i hope soon. great idea for a series. well written. love these characters!!
When I read the reasons for ending up in that experiment I already knew The Book and me were going to have a hard time with each other - and I was right.....
I really did enjoy this fun, sexy and entertaining read. Addison Moore is such a wonderful storyteller and writer. Can't go wrong with one of her stories.
Full disclosure: I read this book with a different cover, so this was a discovery. It's a scenario many people have thought about and many movies have captured, but it was a quick read for sure.
Extremely predictable. This has both the enemies-to-lovers AND brother's (former) best friend tropes, along with a "mysterious breakup" which is hinted at so boldly it barely qualifies as a mystery. I skimmed the last few chapters solely so I could officially count the book as "read" without feeling like a cheater.
The Social Experiment, was a six week experiment conducted by this guy Dexter. Not much was explained about the process or objective for this experiment. The number of participants was not even revealed. The other three groups were never discussed. The focus was only on Rowan and Sophie so I’m not sure what the ending results proved. There were many loopholes in this experiment. The objective of this experiment was unclear and the way it was executed was slow and arduous.
The theme contained some mild football scenarios. The characters were in college, yet rarely in class. The story focused on the nightly extracurricular activities.
Rowan and Sophie were childhood friends with three years between them. They had a Push/pull style relationship with an off-limits trope consisting of a friend to enemies trope. The dialogue was repetitive using alternating POV’s with the rehashing of similar scenes between characters.
Sophie’s character was stubborn and far too dramatic. She was an immature character obsessing over Rowan’s good looks and his sexual history. Her sarcastic dirty mind was not humorous. Her constant poking at Rowan’s sexcapades was over-the-top. The lewd nicknames was annoying. The back and forth barbs was child’s play.
I’m must be missing something because Rowan was not appealing. Giggling about his conquests in front of the girl he likes was appalling. Both characters were shallow. Rowan bragging about shagging the entire female population and Sophie rubbing it in his face not a win in my book.
The Social Experiment was a wordy lengthy book, from beginning to end I skimmed through the chapters.
Let me tell you--this book had me with the blurb! I really loved Rowen and Sophie! It really was told in such a great way. I was pulled through and read this in almost one sitting. Rowen is the quarterback with the nickname the Colossus, because he is the big ride. Every girl on campus wants him. Sophie knows him from childhood. He was her brother's best friend and her former best friend's brother. But a falling out between her brother and Rowen caused a massive divide between everyone. Then Dexter and his social experiment. Throw two people together in the dark and watch the sparks fly! Imagine their surprise when they open their eyes to see the very last person they would have picked. Will this experiment succeed or will it explode? A must read and very entertaining until the last page! I want a book for Lane and Violet next, please. 5 stars way up in the sky.
*** I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest review.***
Loved it! I have to admit upfront that Addison is one of my favorite authors, so I may be biased, but this book was so much fun! I was addicted immediately and Sophie and Rowan are wonderful characters! Addison is the Queen of fabulous dialogue and laugh-out-loud witty banter. There's an equal amount of humor and "sexy times" and wow, neither will disappoint! I seriously laughed out loud all through the book! (And swooned over Rowan, of course!;)
I loved the premise of the story and would love to see some of the secondary characters get their own books (I'm hoping this will be a series.;) I really needed this feel good, funny rom com. It was the perfect book to get me out of a slump- such a fun and romantic read! I highly recommended it.
A huge thank you to Addison Moore for gifting me this book in exchange for an honest review. Even though I'm a big fan, I honestly LOVED this book! I hope you do too!
Like seriously! Sophie‘s brother gets together with his best friends ex-girlfriend of a couple of years a couple of days after they broke up and somehow it‘s the best friend‘s fault? And how narcisstic and self-involved do you have to be too be actually butt hurt that the best friend severed all ties with the dickhead and his family?
Sophie was so melodramatic and OTT. I couldn’t her. She definitely lost me when she claimed to be a vegetarian but ate meat and turkey and „of course“ crustaceans. Just couldn‘t take her seriously after that.
This book was so frustrating and nonsensical. The writing style was excessive. Leave some breathing room for sentences without over the top attempts at jokes/quirkiness/sarcasm. Also, newsflash, sarcasm is not a personality. The character development holes, plot holes, poor editing...
There was promise, which is why I forced my way through it, but damn.
Also for those with 2018 sensibilities, there is so much much misogynistic bullshit coming from both leads, mixed with hypocrisy. It was hard to like either main character for chunks of this book.
*Disgustingly over-protective older brothers who 'let' (FUCKING LET) their sister date- Check
*Blue-eyed-blonde-hair female antagonist or as the author like to put anyone any girl wearing short and revealing clothes 'a bimbo' - Check
*Continuous slut-shaming of anyone any girl who wears short clothes, or likes one-night stands- Check (You know there were two people in the act, right? It's not just the girl who's sleeping around. It's sick that you're glorifying the boys' actions, but disgustingly demeaning the girls.)
*Unnecessary and purposeful miscommunication between characters just to create drama- Check
I was cursing and moaning at the disgustingly misogynistic cliches throughout the whole book. Then, why, you ask, did I keep reading. Because I'm fucking stupid and jobless is why.
The female protagonist, Sophie Meyer, cannot go two-fucking-seconds without talking about how Rowen, the sight of him, and literally every-fucking-thing that he does, makes her labia quiver and she orgasms on the spot. Literally every fucking thing. I'm not exaggerating.
We get it Sophie, you're a sex-deprived, horny little girl whose libido can only be satisfied by star footballer (who single-handedly wins all the games), a ladies man aka player aka womanizer, Rowen Garret.
And don't get me started on Rowen. He is the definition of toxic-masculinity. The dude who apparently slept with every available girl on campus, twice, has the fucking audacity to say 'good; when Sophie admits to being a virgin (because apparently no one could quench her thirst but her childhood crush, whom she loved and wanted to marry from the moment she saw him). And if you think that's bad, wait for this; the dude has a fucking name for his penis. THEY NAMED HIS PENIS!! First, the 'Colossus', and then 'Mr. President'
And then there is the girl's brother- Braden Meyer- ex-best friend of Rowen Garrett- who apparently held a grudge onto Rowen, and made Sophie hate him too by concocting a bullshit story, to hide the fact that he was sleeping with his best-friend's girlfriend. Who, as it turns out later in the book, is a 'tramp'. Get this, said girl, Becca (of course her name is Becca), was fine and never spoke with Rowen for 3 whole years. And then Rowen and Sophie kiss (a fact that no one but the two aforementioned characters know), and next thing you know Becca is hitting on 'Ro. ' I mean, c'mon Addison! \
If all of the above isn't enough, and you still want more, read on:
1. The girls are so disgustingly portrayed in this book. They are shown as self-righteous, kind and strong, while at the same time, they are literally quite the opposite. The continuously slut-shaming other girls, demeaning anyone who isn't a part of their party, disgustingly demure when it comes to their older brothers (yes, because all of them have older brothers who are willing and wanting to kick the ass of anyone who dares to date their baby sisters while they go around fucking any girl they like.) And the author chalks the fact that the girls allow and entertain this behaviour as their 'love' for their older brothers. FUck you! That's not love, that's toxic masculinity, misogyny and downright hypocrisy.
2. The boys actually get into a bloody fist-fight when they find out their wee little sisters are dating someone.
3. They all want to fucking marry each other and have bloody kids after dating for about a month. Like they talk about that shit, after dating for a month. Granted they say that they want that after they graduate and get a degree. But still. what. the. fuck.
What is wrong with you people? \
I will, however, give one prop to the author. There was good humour in this good. Like, there were times when I literally laughed out loud. I mean it might be due to the fact that my emotions are all over the place because of my periods, but still.
