He is known as a cartoonist of cult cults like The King of Flies or Love in Vain , but Mezzo is also a renowned illustrator. Posters, album covers, serigraphs, magazines covers ... this demanding author has already put his talent at the service of diverse and varied supports to deliver his underground, dreamy, sexy and rock universe. Silent images which, by their force of evocation, are often as talking as boxes of comics.

This very beautiful book collects an anthology of the illustrations that Mezzo was able to produce in his non-comic career. We are pleased to find there its incisive, precise and sensual, around some of its favorite themes: music, eroticism and fantasy. Unpublished comic pages (abandoned projects, graphic research of the King of flies and short stories) come to conclude this graphic panorama of an author to no other.

On le connait en tant que dessinateur de BD cultes comme Le Roi des mouches ou Love in Vain, mais Mezzo est également un illustrateur de renom. Affiches, pochettes d'albums, sérigraphies, couvertures de magazines... cet auteur exigeant a déjà mis son talent au service de supports divers et variés pour délivrer son univers underground, onirique, sexy et rock. Des images muettes qui, par leur force d'évocation, sont souvent aussi parlantes que des cases de BD.Ce très bel ouvrage recueille un florilège des illustrations que Mezzo a pu produire dans sa carrière hors bande dessinée. On prend plaisir à y retrouver son trait incisif, précis et sensuel, autour de quelques-uns de ses thèmes favoris : la musique, l'érotisme et le fantastique. Des pages de BD inédites (projets abandonnés, recherches graphiques du Roi des mouches et histoires courtes) viennent conclure ce panorama graphique d'un auteur à nul autre pareil.

About the author

Pascal Mesemberg, who uses the pseudonym Mezzo, was born in Drancy in 1960. His comics appeared in magazines such as Zoulou, L'Echo des Savanes and Métal Aventure. In 1989 he started working together with Pirus, creating a collection of dark stories for the collection Frank Margerin présente and eventually the comic 'Les Désarmés', of which two volumes appeared in 1991 and 1993. Other titles by Mezzo and Pirus are 'Deux Tueurs', 'Un Monde Étrange', 'Mickey-Mickey' and 'Le Roi des Mouches'. In addition to his comics work, Mezzo makes illustrations for Le Journal de Mickey and for the book covers of Stephen King novels. Mezzo lives in Paris and is influenced by Chester Gould, Robert Williams and Orson Welles.
