Rate this book
This is the ninth installment in a 12-part serial thriller. Proceed at your own risk.

The dwindling remains of the Intercalary are devastated by the loss of Augustus, snatched from them in what seemed to be the moment of their victory. The loss is only deepened by Tris' unfathomable return. With only four remaining members, all eyes turn to September, who feels the bleak hopelessness looming over her now. With time running out, her decision to act is as desperate as it is gutsy - but will she still fall prey to Tris in the end?

Andy Lockwood is a writer, an artist, and above all: a dreamer. He got his start in screenwriting and filmmaking where he discovered his obsessive love of storytelling.
He is the author of two novels, Empty Hallways and House of Thirteen; a 12-part serial thriller, At Calendar’s End; and is a regular contributor to horror anthologies. He is always working on another piece of writing, whether it is a novel, a story, or something else entirely. When not slaving away at the keyboard, he spends his time buying books he does not have time to read, and delving into mediums he has no time to fully explore, but he dabbles in them anyway.
He lives in mid-Michigan with his amazingly talented and entirely-too-supportive wife, their delightfully boisterous daughter, a brood of cats, and a misguided idea of what it means to be an adult.

Oh wow, that ending!!

Ember is practicing her powers and tries to save Augustus by bending time only to continuously fail and make things work. Things looking grim, September makes the only decision she feels is important, having Tobin take her life so Tris cannot. It was a poignant scene that was wrought with emotion.

This novella is only 50 pages in length but it felt rather hefty as the weight of loss and grief lies on the remaining members of the Intercalary.

Say do you remember? Dying in September?
That's the only words I could use to describe this short story. Lockwood continues to grab my attention with this. You know each month is going to die. You know. You expect it and still you're surprised by it. You should be but you are. Perhaps its because though each being of the Intercalary is a different person they're all part of the time continuum.

And the fact that I GET why September died the way she did as well as appreciate it, lets me know that Lockwood has successfully corrupted me into his dark world. I can't wait for the next one!
