Gorgeous, glossy, insightful. Answered all of my "but did they really--?" and- "but how did they--?" questions (the answers seem mostly to be "yes" and "with a lot of difficulty" fyi), as well as others i didn't know I had. The whole thing read a bit like a long magazine feature rather than a book you'd specifically picked up to learn about the film. Could've done with longer interviews of cast&crew. But overall stunning, 4.8 stars, would pick up and admire in any bookshop if only to look at the pictures.

A must-read for any fans of the film 'Dunkirk' or Chris Nolan's work. After reading Joshua Levine's book (he was the historical advisor on set), "The Making of Dunkirk" helps to understand the complexity of shooting such film. Patience, dedication, passion, hard work and ingenuity are the reasons 'Dunkirk' is a masterpiece.

This is a great behind-the-scenes coffee table book about Christopher Nolan's brilliant film Dunkirk. It's not a terribly long read - but then again, I do have a tendency to speed through books that I love, and there's a lot that I enjoyed in this! The images are stunning, and I loved shots that showed what it looked like on set when the cameras weren't rolling - make-up artists at work, the sheer amount of costumes needed to clothe all the extras, Christopher Nolan and director of photography Hoyte van Hoytema with an IMAX camera balanced on his shoulder in all sorts of weather conditions, and more. Learning more about the tricks of the trade is always fun, but what's incredible is hearing about how much of Dunkirk was shot without the help of CGI and other digital helping aids. All in all, a very fun book to curl up with, and recommended for any fan of the film.

A very short read with some interesting facts (not many new information if you've listened to interviews with the cast and crew).
The best part(s) of the book are the photos, they are breathtaking!
