Tom Gates #13

Epic Adventure (kind of)

Rate this book

The thirteenth (lucky for us!) title in the bestselling series, from the brilliantly talented Liz Pichon. Having two sets of grandparents is turning out to be very good for me.

The Wrinklies are keen on giving presents

AND they're planning a family outing which is going to be

EPIC! Even Delia wants to come. (I can always ignore her.)

Read- April 2020 for the O.W.Ls (Arithmancy- Read something outside of your favourite genre)
- I must admit, I'm getting very bored of this series. They're fun to just into every so often but I think I'm just going to catch up on the series and then leave it there.

This was a brilliant Tom Gates book! I am a real Tom Gates fan, and I think this is a brilliant and worthy part to the series. I thought there wasn't enough hilarity from the fossils (his grandparents) as there is in the other books. Other wise, great book!

This book is a comedy and it’s a really fun book to read. It is a series of loads of books big and small. I quite liked it even though it was a little bit babyish it was still a good book for me to read. The story plot was that Tom had two sets of grandparents who gave loads and loads of presents to him and his sister while the family was planning a family outing and it was going to be epic. The ending was quite good as it was funny and ended well. I would definitely recommended this book to younger years as it’s funny, weird and happy.

I liked this book as it represents how real life is a little bit as you can get rubbed in by others or even sometimes get teased, but then your family is always there to help make you feel better.

In this book Tom gets to know his returned grandparents the wrinklies more especially as they plan a fun trip for them all which goes a bit wrong especially as Delia wants to come along.

Meanwhile at school Marcus is being his usual annoying self and at a party teamed with Tom gets them into trouble!

Also Tom's hair grows A LOT and he ends up getting it cut from one drastic measure to another and as his schools Tropical themed disco is set to happen the same day as a family trip to see a castle will they get back in time?!

This was a great book I enjoyed reading about both sets of grandparents thing involved jointly in Tom's life and the tropical disco sounded ace though the trip out to the castle was a bit quick and not as drama filled as the other books but still a fun read!

I was reading this book with my 7-year-old daughter and it was actually quite funny. I enjoyed the antics of Tom Gates just as much as she did. In this Epic Adventure , Tom Gates finds himself eventually invited to an Adventure Park party where he is partnered up with his nemesis when they head out onto the lake; seemingly going to Disneyland with his family (by his grandparents' request) only to find that they are headed off to a castle; and almost going to a sea themed school disco.

All this plus many more humorous events take place at school and at home. A good laugh and a good read for confident readers of all ages.

This book is about a boy who goes through changes and lives life.
Tom keeps on getting gifts from his grandparents. His grandparents are planning a family trip. When he goes to school everyone has an invitation to Julia's party. Dereck, Tom's friend, bragged in Tom's face. Julia gives Tom his invitation. Dereck says [that Tom] needs a haircut. Then his hair looks CRAZY. Their grandparents were going on an Epic Adventure. But Tom's least favourite person wants to come, Delia. Will Tom last the whole trip? Find out in this amazing novel.

I liked the humor and outstanding illustrations.

I think that if you liked Diary of a Wimpy Kid, you are probably going to like Tom Gates. [It has] practical jokes and real life situations.

Tom Gates thinks that he has very good Grandparents because whenever they pay a visit to Tom they bring marvelous gifts for him and Delia. Tom's parents and Tom's grandparents are planning to go for a family outing with him which is EPIC!!!Tom's sister Delia wants to come too which is abnormal because she doesn't like family outings. Tom is invited to a Tropical Disco which is going to be in the school. So he decides where he wants to enjoy his time as both are on the same day.

This was a very good book. I loved when Tom thought he wasn’t invited and at last he thought he has an invitation. It flies across the room to the teacher and he sneakily tries to get it. When he does he realises it’s someone else’s and swaps with them. At the party, he gets wet in the boats and a bird steals Marcus’ sandwich. Everyone gets a really cool pen but Tom gets shrimp and a yo-yo. He couldn’t go to the school disco but when to the old folks home. He had fun. He may go to a concert.

Worth reading 👍

I enjoyed the use of pictures being used as text as well. it's very inspired
The story of this book is an improvement on the others.
My only complaint is that you need to read all the books before this to understand what is going on.
So over all its a great book 4/5
