There are hundreds of eBooks online that promise to teach you how to start your own blog from scratch in a short period. Many of those hows-to guides are even free to download, just as How to Start A Blog Today: A Free Step-by-Step Beginner’s Guide to Create A Blog in 20 Minutes by Scott Chow is free. I have downloaded, perused and reviewed many of those “free” step-by-step guides and almost everyone of them suffered from broken links. The authors all tell you they update their guide but the fact that many of the links are not only broken links, the sites they linked to no longer exist as a viable site. Scott Chow makes the same promise to his readers, the difference is that all the links in his little book work. The links not only work, he links to his online site where the most Up-To date version of the guide can be found but can be used while creating your own blog. As Scott points out, the online guide is a lot easier to follow when setting up a blog than trying to do it while reading a book.

This is a short book, the average reader will read it in less than an hour. The way to use it most effectively is to read it straight through once to get an overview of the steps you will take in creating your blog and then switch to the online version to guide you through the actual process. Setting up a blog site using Scott’s online guide is easy, but if you encounter any problems Scott will provide personal, one-on-one help free. No costs to you. Scott can afford this service because he is compensated by the vendors he recommends that you use. I receive no compensation from Bluehost, but recommend that you use them because they are one of the most user friendly and reliable web hosting services available today.

This short book covers everything you need to know to create your first blogging site, but it doesn’t stop there. Scott provides active links to volumes of additional information that will keep you developing and improving your blog site for months to come. If you are considering starting your own blog site. You need to grab a copy of this free guide book NOW!!!!

Little tiny book that is very helpful, simple and efficient.

I chose 4 stars for the reasonable, informative manner the material is presented. I enjoyed reading it. Perfect beginner guide. Add some deeper information about making money plus useful details about building an audience.

Easy Read & A Great Starting Point.

If you're one of those readers who approach reading with an open mind and take note of what you learn oppose to what you don't. Then this is definitely a great starting point, that will indeed get you off to a great blogging start. But if you're keen on intensive detail then find you another read. Because this is a straight to the point, type of book, intended to get you started and if consistent move you towards becoming an experienced blogger.

Great step by step for a new blogger onnthe block.

I appreciate the clarity of this book. This was a great quick but very detailed guide with tangible results. This allows for ease of use of the recommended program for easy blog building. Having the "how to" section on making money over time was also a great bonus.

If you want to use BlueHost and Wordpress self-hosted, then this is a five-star book. If you plan to use Blogger, or whatever other option, this becomes a three-star book. The reason being that there's very little information that couldn't be found elsewhere. In fact, the book starts by directing the reader to the webpage. It's fine as a freebie. To me, it felt too much like an ad for BlueHost.

This is a very short simple book about how to use Wordpress templates to set up a website. The reason I considered doing this is having a website where you post your reviews (other than Goodreads) increases your chances of receiving Advanced Review Copies from publishers. The book just covers the very basics, it doesn't go into Google Analytics and how to report that data to the publishers.

Great for blog newbies.

I appreciate Scott's step by step advice. I've been wanting to start a blog for the longest time and with just the clear and concise advice that he gives I know exactly what I want to do and how to do it. I also like that he encourages us to reach out to him if you are confused or need help.

It's really an advert

This really is just an advert for the author's affiliate link to his preferred blogging company. It does give a brief tutorial on how to create a blog using WordPress on his preferred hosting company's platform but if you don't use his platform then you might feel a bit lost.

Good overview

Scott delivers an easy to read quick guide to setting up a blog using WordPress . I like that he plugs service providers and doesn't leave the reader wondering where to find hosting services or advertisers (for those desiring to profit from their blogs).

This short book was very informative and a basic guideline for starting bloggers. Although I found a few repetitive phrases/sentences to be overbearing, as well as some misplaced thoughts on varying topics within the book. I thought it was a great read to dive into a new hobby.

Great beginner's guide for WordPress newbies

The meat of the book is focused on WordPress, so if you're planning on using a different platform this may not be the book for you. Breaks the process of starting a WordPress blog down into easy steps.

Just for beginners

It's for beginners, still there are many topics that a beginner should learn before getting started, which this book hasn't mentioned. So for free, it's just ok...

Too basic

Too basic for my taste. Majority of the book is about how to set the basic features of your blog and only a very small piece is about how to make it more successful.
