It can never be said that NYT & USA Today Bestselling author Sidney Bristol has had a ‘normal’ life. She is a recovering roller derby queen, former missionary, and tattoo addict. She grew up in a motor-home on the US highways (with an occasional jaunt into Canada and Mexico), traveling the rodeo circuit with her parents. Sidney has lived abroad in both Russia and Thailand, working with children and teenagers. She now lives in Texas where she splits her time between a job she loves, writing, reading and fostering cats.
Sidney is represented by Nicole Resciniti of the Seymour Agency.
Sidney Bristol's second instalment in her Aegis Group Alpha Team series. I love Sidney Bristol her Romantic Suspense are always action packed and hot as hell. Shane and Tanya are a good team once they get their baggage situated. I love that the Alpha Team isn't perfect, they work well together but personally there is some stuff going on. Tanya was well done, how her secrets were revealed in chunks and and you don't see the whole picture until close to the end.
Retired SEAL Shane Cohen has a classic case of survivor's guilt, he survived when his older brother didn't and he's having a hard time moving on from that. Shane is also one of those who has no problem sleeping with the client while on the job. He likes thing uncomplicated, straight forward so he can deal with them head on but when the Alpha Team gets pulled in on a job that on the outside should have been easy Shane can't shake the feeling that something is wrong with the whole gig.
Tanya's whole life is complicated, even as a child the daughter of a cult leader who made her do unthinkable things still hangs heavy on her shoulders. But Tanya wanted to do something about right her wrongs and now she is stuck in a horrible situation. Undercover for the last two years and the information she has can save countless lives, she just has to escape the psycho who she's been pretending to be his girlfriend/secretary and find someone she can trust before he kills her.
When Tanya is "rescued" by the Alpha Team she thinks all hope is lost, that is is as good as dead. But Shane believes her and even though she is a t first hesitant to come clean about who she is, and then when she finally does the Alpha Team is lucky enough to have plenty of resources to check her story. They are racing against the clock and trying miserably to not fall in love with each other.
Overall, so good. I loved that Shane ended up being a coddler with Tanya. I loved that Tanya is constantly saying I'm not cut out for this but nevertheless steps up and does the job. This was a great one it ranks up there with Dangerous Assignment as favorites.
It's another Aegis story. My first thought was, how many times can Sidney Bristol write about a hired gun falling for an asset? Well, if she keeps it this engaging, she can keep writing them forever. This is just as good as any of the others. I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This time it's Isaac and Tanya, both strong independent characters drawn to one another like kindred souls. As is often the case, the featured villain is a mentally deranged killer. I'm no expert, but Ms. Bristol seems to have a deep understanding of undercover work and psychology. If not, her writing is that good! I'm happy to report that, although the bad guy is a sicko, nothing too graphically violent is described. That said, it is a tense story with plenty of anxiety inducing events. I loved it!
Another great read from this author. I like that these stories resonate with what's happening in our world today. You hear stories about cults & madmen & ideologues acting for their own goals & this is reflected in the stories from this author. But rather than making the stories depressing & dark, the good guy always wins. Throw in a good helping of hot sex & some lighthearted moments & you've got a most enjoyable read. Don't worry if you haven't read Book 1 in this series, while it does include characters from the other Aegis Group books it is completely standalone.
I love all the Aegis Group books, but I think this was my Favorite! There is a whole lot more action and intrigue, international crime and danger, Yeah and some fooling around! The team is contracted to go in and save Tanya, but she doesn't need saving per say. The man contracting the rescue is trying to kill her! So many things are found out about Tanya, that no one knew, and she's afraid to reveal all she knows. Issac slowly gets it out of her and they find more is at stake than the thought.
Worthy, suspenseful read! Issac's story starts off as a rescue and delivery. What fun would that be?! This storyline is filled with action, intrigue, fear, and learning to let go and trust! Misgivings between Issac and Tanya develop into something more. Half the fun was them figuring out what that was! Political trickery and safe reunions further makes this a good read! Voluntarily read ARC for honest review
Good read as always. I enjoyed the alpha male competing with Alpha female. Lots of twists and turns make good mystery story with strong characters. Isaac also learns life lessons of moving on from his grieving.
