Tutaj 500 przeciwko 1.

There is no doubt that the volume is full of action, however, Sato going on a rampage and killing just about everyone is getting a bit stale now.

Sato takes on dozens of military men in his attempt to take Iruma Base while Kei figures out a creepy way to get inside himself.

This volume is very heavy on the action. There are lots of scenes of men being blown up, hacked up, and shot. The courage of the Japanese military was impressive as they just kept throwing themselves in front of Sato, who seems to be an unstoppable weapon. I'm intrigued by the demi-humans who were rescued from confinement at the end of this book. Hopefully they'll show up again in the story.

Aktualnie...no, jest ciężko.

Extrait :

In the world of supernatural comics, Ajin: Demi-Human fills a unique niche. Gamon Sakurai’s vision of a world where immortals called Ajin control strange and deadly mummy-like familiars is far from standard horror. The series’ confrontations of loneliness (both literal and metaphorical) are great, as is its focus on the oppressive tactics governments would implement if beings like Ajin existed. The latest entry in the series, Vol. 12, collects chapters 54-57, which detail the continued assault upon Iruma Base that Sato initiated in Vol. 11. Is this installment good?

Art-wise, this volume is a mixed bag. On the plus side, all of Sakurai’s fundamentals are solid. The characters’ proportions are consistent, the flow of action across panels is usually clear, and most of the facial expressions throughout are quite well-drawn. Many of this volume’s best visuals are in its final chapter, where we get to see Sato’s brutality on full display. There’s a particularly striking two-page spread where Sato is surrounded by the victims he’s taken down bloodily and without mercy, and it really conveys his deadly resolve. There’s also a neat sequence where Nagai utilizes his powers in a way that’s heavy on body horror. It involves climbing a tall wall while repeatedly cutting off then regenerating fingers. We end up seeing a pile of them clumped together on the grass below, and it’s disturbing to the point of being cool in a morbid way.

Unfortunately, Sakurai’s skill is counteracted a bit by his mundane page layouts. All of the panels are square or rectangular in shape, so their forms never change to match major events or shifts in tone. As a result the manga sometimes feels more boring than it necessarily should with its intriguing characters and subject matter. This is especially problematic in action scenes, where events that should feel dynamic end up blending together into extended periods of dull. Not all of the shoot-outs are like this, but it’s definitely a recurrent issue.

Writing-wise, this volume is decent. The characters’ dialogue and interactions are all well-done and true to the personas we’ve gotten to know across the series. There’s also a clear sense of just how dangerous Sato is — he may not be the only Ajin around, but he has a uniquely deadly and insurmountable presence. Unfortunately, the pacing isn’t fully satisfactory. There isn’t a sense that the story has progressed all that much by the volume’s end. This holds true both for the primary plot of Sato’s attack as well as the subplots revolving around other characters. Thankfully things pick up in the final chapter, which is quite exciting and generates momentum going into the series’ next installment.

Overall, Ajin: Demi-Human Vol. 12 is a solid read. Sakurai’s art is fundamentally solid, and there are a number of awesome visuals in the second half. The plot and sense of suspense also pick up later in the volume. Unfortunately, the book’s first half feels too slow and relatively uneventful. There’s also a sense of monotony to the page layouts that prevents the visuals from reaching their full potential. Nonetheless, this is a decent installment.

File 54: Sato has killed the captain from inside the complex and chopped off his thumb to gain entry further on in the building to the armory with the finger print. A lieutenant with 500 men go after him which results in a mass shoot out. Sato manages to escape with C4 explosives which makes him fall down a floor. Separately, outside in the area where the PM was making a speech the soldiers evacuate the civilians and press but in the meantime they get shot at by random strangers.

File 55: Okuyama had delivered a video message to those he has selected for a mission (from their interactions on the Ajin website) to a congregation in the woods of young human men / boys. They go to the base where Sato is and pretend to be visiting guests but in fact are on standby for Sato to throw weapons out to them and shoot army personnel on site. The PM goes into a secret bunker on the site but Takahashi and Gen slid a tracking device on him. Separately, Sato continues his fight with soldiers but ends up being surrounded by a mass of gunmen above him.

File 56: Tanaka is driven by government guards but Izumi (with Nakano) chases after them. She eventually catches up and throws herself in front of the leading vehicle. She kills all the guards (including a minister) and saves Tanaka (who is reluctant). Tanaka informs Nakano the address where there are captured prisoners by Sato in barrels. Izumi and Tanaka depart together.

File 57: Kei Nagai is now at the base also, surmounting the wall by biting off his fingers and forcing holes into the concrete by regenerating multiple times upward. Nakano reaches the address given to him by Tanaka (disused tower block). He shoots Okuyama with a tranquilliser en route to the barrels where the prisoners are kept. He pulls 3 out who have been inside for 72 hours. 1 of them is the firefighter who he takes away with him. Separately, Sato emerges from a mass of dead soldiers alive, ready to move on.

I'd fallen behind, and I'd forgotten what a non-stop, action-filled ride Ajin is. Sato, the radical Demi-Human, literally takes on a military base with his micro army of followers. The other Demis are forced to fight, finding allies in barrels (literally) and scaling walls with their own fingers. Ajin has always been an open conversation about the depravity of man and the lengths man will go to hide that depravity. This volume felt like a rollercoaster of self-sacrifice and attack.

Ritmenya agak melambat, tapi ceritanya makin seru.

Tokyo Ghoul who? This is actually disgusting horror.
Bro bit off his fingers to climb. But I just like them so much. As a group they are very eccentric but iconic. I genuinely wonder how it ends. For a manga w only 70-80 chapters this is packed with plot.

This volume was full of action!! It was beautifully drawn and we could seem, again, how strong and smart Satou is! I'm really looking foward to see what Tanaka-san will do as well.
