Kenneth Arthur offers what he calls a "constructive theology for those burned out on Christianity." It is a progressive vision, rooted in his experience as a gay man who finds a community of welcome, a community which he will end up serving as pastor. In this book offers up his vision of an open and welcoming progressive theology that draws a lot from figures such as Paul Tillich and Sallie McFague, among others.
At points I found the discussion a bit muddled, especially as he tries to distance himself from traditional language about God. Replacing God with "Divine Presence," didn't work as well as it might (at least in my reading). That said, I think it might prove helpful to some who wonder if there is any room in the Christian community for them.
