A Standalone Sci-Fi Alien Warrior Paranormal Romance
This is a full-length 55,000 word Romance novel with a HEA guaranteed.
Alinsoth is, for all intents and purposes, a scrap yard. It’s an abandoned moon, floating in the middle of space, where refuse and other discarded things seem to collect. It’s also the base of the Amakari, barbarian people who use their weapons to speak for them and, occasionally, work as warriors for hire. They are a rough and tumble bunch, trying to keep out of sight of the Imperials, who rule most of the planets around them. It keeps them isolated, but this suits them fine.
Galen, one of the barbarians, has no problems with his life. He likes the fighting, and he tries not to remember his life before he came to Alinsoth. He’s brash and reckless and rude, which is perfect since he’s also one of the best fighters they have.
But when something crash lands on their little moon and it turns out to be a human woman who can’t remember who she is or how she got there, Galen will find out that he has a softer side, once he learns to trust her, that is. He has no idea who she is or why she’s so far from home, but the answers don’t stay hidden for long. In fact, eventually they come calling in the form of a giant warship, and the Amakari way of life, along with the woman Galen has come to care for, are heavily threatened.
Ashley West was raised in a small Midwest town. She has always been a big fan of all thing science fiction and paranormal. Her all-time favorite movie is the original Star Wars.
She started writing at a young age and has not looked back since. Ashley brings her worlds to life with vivid details and strong character development. On her spare time she enjoys painting , cooking, and curling up to her favorite books.
So what do you get when you cross a human woman who knows nothing due to an injury, a moon planet with a colony of Amakari barbarians and the Grand Imperial Osera wanting to rule them all. A great sci-fi romance slash adventure. All Nora could remember was her name when she woke up on a strange planet with Amakari Barbarians. Though she is sure she's not there by choice. She is learning to fit in with the Amakari. Especially with that of Galen their leader in a roundabout way. But what will happen when she remembers who and what she is? Will she stay or go?
Galen use to be a good student of the Allied planets. Doing what he did best learning and studying for his parents. That was until a tragic accident took someone precious from him. He wants answers but was told to mind his business and stop asking questions. Years later he is now a Amakari barbarian living in a colony on a moon that is no where near the Allied planets. Everything is fine until a human woman ends up in the colony with no idea who she is or how she came. If its the last thing Galen will do, he will find out who she is. Then there is information about the imperials that turns his blood cold...
Galen and his friends have been hiding out on the scrap yard planet of Alinsoth. They are trying their best to live independently but the Imperials are not happy with anyone living outside of their control. The one day a ship crashes on their planet and Galen investigates trying to figure out if the Imperials are trying to come after them. Inside the ship, he sees on one passenger who is a human woman tied up in restraints. He rescues Nora but he is suspicious of her purpose of being there. He will not leave her alone until he finds the truth. It is too bad Nora has lost her memory. Nora is a human who lived on Earth but was struggling to find her perfect place. Then one night an alien pirate ship landed on her apartment buildings' roof. Nora and her friend had run outside to figure out what all the noise was about. Then they saw aliens leaving the ship on the roof and come down to chase the gawking humans. Nora runs as fast as she can but is caught by the alien. Everything goes black until she is rescued from the ship on Alinsoth. She wakes up with no memory of her past except a familiar voice yelling "Run Nora!" Galen intimidates her but also makes her angry. He is huge and sexy but he seems to hate her. Will she ever be able to get close to Galen? This is a good book. I loved the world building in this story. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.
I liked having the two prologues from Galen and Nora's points-of-view. It really helped me place where everyone was in the scheme of things; however, I didn't understand at first that Earth wasn't part of the Alliance. After that was cleared up, things made more sense. Although, I don't know how humans being kidnapped, one at a time, to use as slaves in some far of part universe would be very economical, and sooner or later wouldn't humans become suspicious of aliens landing on top of buildings? Galen definitely played the part of the barbarian well. And it was nice to see that he accepted Nora eventually. I would like to see more from this created world. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book. I also borrowed it through the Kindle Unlimited program.
A quick romantic, science fiction read. We follow both characters stories as things happen as it goes back and forth to each of them till she crashes on the moon. I did enjoy the story overall and had to finish it once I started it. I did like that it wasn’t one of those alien stories where he is the big bad stupid alien with muscles that just wants sex, admiration and more sex. He had humor, sarcasm, and was a great fighter. She stood on her own and only problem she had is she couldn’t remember anything except her name. Only had a minor problem with the story is wish she had something really cool that she found she loved to do. Was okay how author handled it but wish there was more, but that is my personal opinion. I did receive an ARC copy from Hidden Gems for an honest review. Would say review is between a 3.5 to 4.0 so put 4.0 as no halfway marks.
*I voluntarily read this book. All opinion stated are solely my own and no one else's*
I had mixed feelings about this one - I didn't hate it but I didn't love it either.
The premise of the book was intriguing but the characters didn't draw me in. The chemistry between Nora and Galen was disappointing - there was no spark or simmering attraction. When Galen finally kissed her, it felt kind of awkward and Nora laughing in his face straight after just dampened the insanely passionate moment they shared.
I've read several books by this author and really enjoyed them but this one just didn't do it for me however, I won't let it deter me from reading her future books.
I received an ARC of this story through Hidden Gems and this is my honest and voluntary review. As far as alien romance stories go this one was okay. The first probably 15% of the book was just a backstory/introduction to Galen and then Nora and then the next 15% was more slow build up to the story actually getting started. Sooooo, a good 30% of this story wasn't really much of a story unfortunately. Once Galen and Nora meet up the story gets more interesting and there's plenty of sexy times to indulge in. Overall, the chemistry works for me and I'm a sucker for a HEA, I just wish the story hadn't taken SO long to get going! I prefer books that hook you in the first few pages.
I know people sometimes make drastic changes in their lives or move, when they are trying to "find" themselves, but this girl went extreme! 😉 lol. Actually, though, this book is wonderful, being kidnapped and ship-wrecked on a moon with barbarians was the best thing that could have happened to Nora. Read her adventure, it's a love story made in the stars.
A fast paced action packed scifi romance. Nora is a human taken from Earth and doesn't remember what happened or her life before. Galen is a brutish alien. It started out as a hate relationship to one full of steamy passion. The ending lacked imagination though. Overall enjoyable read. Note: I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Enjoyable short sci-fi paranormal romance. Interesting plot and well described characters. This story has a lot of action and adventure. It has a love story about kidnap human women and alien warrior. This is book for these who love to read this kind of stories. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
This is my first time reading anything by Ashley West. I love anything related to sci-fi and sci-fi romance is something and that I thoroughly enjoy. So when I received the opportunity to review this book I jumped on a chance to. I had a lot of issues with this story. It was nothing major however it was distracting.
The main characters of the story is Nora and Galen. Nora is from Earth and Galen is from another planet originally but now he lives on an outer Moon in the solar system. The story starts off giving us a background about Nora and also about Galen. I did like the fact that we got to meet both characters before they got together. There are times where we don't get background information on the hero and heroine and I do like the fact that we did get to see more of them growing up and becoming young adults.
So let me get into the issues that I had with this story. To me the transitioning was off. Like a sentence ended and then the characters or somewhere else or 3 hours has passed or a year has passed. It doesn't seem seamless to me when it comes to the transitioning. Also, there are so many unanswered questions that are just bothering me. I really hope this is not a stand-alone book but the first book in a series. If this is a standalone then this story just ended abruptly and that's never a good thing when it comes to a book. If this book is Standalone then and needs to have a definite beginning, definite middle, and a definite end. To me this book has so many questions that needs to be answered and also the way that event happened and does not make any sense.
Take for instance the meeting of the Grand Imperial. He came to the moon, got into a word fight, sick his minions on the people, and then decided to go about his way. I don't understand how one of the main antagonist in the story just seems to go away with a couple of words and two lines of a fight scene. That literally drives me crazy. It just felt to me that I was so anti-climatic. If this is how it was going to be dealt with then the grand Imperial did not need to come to the moon at all.
The story itself was a good one. I did like the dance that Nora and Galen did. It was not insta love and I did appreciate that. Romance developed over time. This story takes place over at least close to 10 years. That includes the prologue to the epilogue. That was a welcome change to have a long-term relationship develop versus a couple who have known each other for 2 days and has fallen in love and declared their love for one another.
This was an ok read for me. I liked the storyline but I just could not get into the characters. I think I enjoyed reading about Carro more than Galen and Nora. Nora had such ambition while on Earth and then when she gets to Alinsoth its like she has none. Galen just seemed like a jerk who didn't care to acknowledge his feelings.
