She's a dirty little... How do I put this? Sister? Fantasy? Virgin? My best friend's little sister. The one girl always at the top of my 'to-do' list.
The rift between our families started when she was just a teenager. When she shows up at my penthouse door half a decade later, I won't let her stay a virgin for long. We may not be able to put a stop to their feud. But we can become each other's dirty little secret.
What happens when the secret grows too big? When the secret is not one, but two babies in her belly?
Dirty Little Secret is a full length 50K romance novel with bonus material included for your pleasure. HEA guaranteed -- and fantastic.
I'm not going to lie, but I really struggled to get through this book. It could definitely just be that I wasn't in the mood for this type of romance but the characters and their situation just didn't sit with me well.
I found the girl to be way too meek and easily run over and the guy came off super creepy to me. He apparently had always fantasized about his best friend's little sister (which is a common theme in romance books) but the way the story was told from his perspective didn't come off as interested or even just horny, but instead almost felt predatory. I could not get into these characters no matter how hard I tried and was so disappointed by this fact.
To be honest, I couldn't get very far into this book so maybe this all changes later in the book but those first few chapters just didn't strike me as something I wanted to continue. I might give this book another chance later, but for now I'm going to have to say that this wasn't my cup of tea.
So I read to a wide variety and am willing to suspend a lot of reason. This however is beyond belief. The characters are not likable, the chemistry is not believable, and the plot is beyond logic.
Spoiler.....
There is a 4 year span from when the MMC last sees the FMC (18 at the time) and in that 4 years he joins the Marines, opens a day trading account, does well, opens a VC company, and becomes a billionaire.
The MMC does not see the FMC in that time due to his warp speed rise to success and runs into her at a conference. He doesn't recognize her at first but when he finds out who she is he remember she is on his "to-do" list. Within an hour of seeing her again, he sweeps her off onto his yahct where he gives her her first big O but just rubbing against her. They see each other the next day and as he opens the door in his towel she proceeds to give him a BJ while anyone could see. This is the stammering virign who could not make eye contact yesterday. He supposedly gives her a job as his intern in one of his many many business (he is pretty sure he owns a television studio). Our freshly graduated FMC who has a marketing degree walks right in to become a successful producer. She is heart broken when she he says they are just hanging out even though they are going at it like bunnies. So she grows a spine and says fine I am done. Finds out she is pregnant with twins at 8 weeks and he is head over hills happy about it.
There are so many big personalities in this book. Most of them I couldn’t quite decide whether it was love or hate. I also kept flipping my opinion back and forth several times with almost everyone. There was no question with Ethan, though; I loved him pretty much from the start. And I thought that he kept getting the short end of the stick. Ava drove me mental. I loved her when she was her sweet vulnerable self, it’s when she behaves like a spoiled princess and throws a temper tantrum because she doesn’t get her way that it’s enough to make me want to write her off. I don’t consider how much I love a character to be the ultimate mark of a talented author. For me, it’s all in how much I can hate a character. To have all these characters that I can both love and hate – sometimes at the same time – that’s what made this such a good book. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
Ethan has always been attracted to Ava but she was too young to act on it and the their families had a falling out. Ava is at a some job conference or fair when she sees Ethan again for the first time since they lost touch. Ethan convinces her to give them the summer to see what they have between them is serious or if it'll burn out over the summer. So he hires her to work at one of his shell companies. Neither was thinking of anything but each other and then reality hits them and they sees first hand what obstacles they face if they want to be together. What really happened between their families? Will the families pull them apart? Can they get passed everything to be a family together? Find all of this out when you buy this book. This is a must have on you kindle. I couldn't stop reading until I was at the end and still was left wanting more.
This was a good read. Book did include bonus stories that are not part of the review. I have read a few other books by this author. This was just as good as her other books. You can connect to the characters. I didn't want to stop reading the story. Overview. Ava, her brother Aiden, and Eathan all grew up together. Ava's parents were in business with Ethan's family. But the business went sour and they all went their own ways. Now 10+ years later Ava give to a conference in San Francisco and Ethan is the guest speaker. But even more is they have to share the penthouse floor together. Ethan asks Ava for a date and she agrees. They easily fall into the past but even more into love. Ethan wants more and offers Ava a future at any of his businesses and a summer with him. But true feeling scare both of them and with their families hating each other it's hard to build a future when everyone is stuck in the past.
Woo! I loved every minute of this all over the place, make me want to pull out my hair, swooning the next, best friends Lil sister hot angsty romance! So much is happening throughout this fast paced goodness it was hard to wrap my head around at times, but a couple of things that stayed the same for me throughout- Ethan is one sweet talking Alpha I wish I had known when I was ahem * whispers* 'younger'! The other Ava made me crazy haha! But I understood why she was that way. I just kept thinking dang- here is this MAN... he wants to give her all this and she's being EH.. *sigh* but just as in real life things are not all rainbows and the sunshine- This rocky, hot, twisted relationship was a such a goose bump giving, take me away from reality type tale I was sad to see that sweet ending! I wanted more! So much more than I anticipated! Killer read by Jess Bentley! #mustread material!
Ava is looking for a job and when she attends a conference she gets more than she bargained for. Ethan is an old family friend, or was, before bad business caused a rift between their parents. He’s also the keynote speaker at the conference she’s attending. When their paths cross once more, they’re set to forge a new kind of friendship.
There’s nothing spectacular about this story that makes it stand out for me, hence the rating, however if you are looking for a quick romance to read, then this may be the story for you. It’s actually quite a nice read and I enjoyed watching the relationship between Ethan and Ava blossom. I especially liked the fact that Ethan respects Ava’s decisions and actually goes the extra mile to make her happy.
Profanity: Occasional Sexual content: Frequent and detailed Violence: Negligible
I absolutely loved Ethan and Ava's story. She was the little sister of his best friends who he wanted so badly but could never have. Ava has always been attracted to Ethan, even as a little girl she had a crush. When they see each other 5 years later, the sparks are there and neither of them want to deny each other anymore. This book will take you on a long journey of two people who love each other but at first keep it a secret. What will happen when the families find out? What will they do when she becomes pregnant? This is definitely a book to get. It's written well, the characters are so likable and the storyline itself is enjoyable. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book.
I would have to give this book between a 3.5 and 4 out of 5 star rating. The book had me captivated in the beginning and at the ending but was a little slow paced at the the middle. Ethan the male main character is so sure of himself and confident and goes for what he wants and doesn't let anyone stop him and I liked that. I like the fact that the author made sure that Ethan was happy about the twins when Ava the female main character told him. The was nothing in the book for me to not like it was all smooth sailing. If you like books about brother's best friend (Ethan) ending up with brother's little sister (Ava) , pregnancies, and a love story that has a happily ever after than this book is for you.
I absolutely loved this latest book from Jess Bentley! When Ethan and Ava find themselves in the same place they both find themselves wanting to give in to the attraction they feel. What makes it hard is the history between their families and the fact that anything that happens will have to remain a secret. Yet when life gets real Ethan will go big to prove he doesn't want their families' history to affect what they find with each other. A hot rich man will do whatever it takes to prove to the woman he loves that he is in it for all the right reasons. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I voluntarily received an advance copy of this book. I enjoyed reading about Ethan and Ava. He has always kept his eyes on her so when he finds out she's on his penthouse floor he wants her. Knowing he hasn't seen her in six years since their families fallout, he wonders if she harbors the same feelings as her brother.
Ava can't believe he's a speaker at the job fair event her and Bea are at. But when he offers her an internship who is she to refuse. But keeping this secret becomes harder then they both expect. Especially when two more people is introduce into the picture.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I had a lot going on so I wasn't able to read straight through this book like I wanted to. But I did pick it up every chance that I could! It such a good read! Ethan and Ava had chemistry since they were younger but both ignored it. Years later, they unexpectedly meet at a job conference that Ava and her friend attended in hopes of landing a job. Sparks fly immediately between Ethan and Ava. One click this to see how their relationship progresses, the good and the bad.
This was okay for me. Both of the main characters had their flaws, but where Ethan grew up, Ava did not. She acted like a spoiled brat for most of the book, even after she found out she was pregnant. The writing flowed okay, and I was happy that they were able to have their HEA. Bea was a little overbearing for my tastes, but I guess when you have someone as flaky as Ava, you need a strong person in your life.
Yea I wasn't too thrilled with this book at the beginning. But once I got into it, I started liking it more and more. I will say that it isn't the best work of Jess. I liked her others more. And I think it was because the characters seem to force the chemistry issue for a bit. And I didn't like that. But after a bit, they seem to find their steam. And Bae was kind of a bitch sometimes. I voluntarily read an advance reader copy for my honest review.
You cannot go wrong with a story by Jess Bentley and this one is no exception! Dirty Little Secret is an unique storyline with the angst I crave, the heat we all need, scorching hot chemistry, secrets, drama, and sizzling hot love scenes. I loved every second of this story!! I highly recommend you one click this story. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
This was such a sweet story. I love how Ethan made such an effort to make amends to Ava's family. I appreciated Ava's strength to not accept anything less than true love from Ethan and not a proposal out of duty. I really enjoyed how the whole story came together. Another great read from Jess!
He's wanted her since they were teenagers and it was very mutual. Their families had a serious falling out so they haven't seen each other in many years. When they see each other, they decide to go for a physical and fun only relationship, but it doesn't stay that way and it can't stay a secret from her family for long.
Can love win over secrets and a family feud a give them a second chance? A fast paced read with drama, sizzling chemistry, and steamy scenes. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. I absolutely loved reading this!! It's sweet, romantic and relatable. They both overcome issues from their past to finally find love with each other.
Dirty Little Secret has everything I love in a romance story... angst, drama, secrets, family feud, scorching chemistry, a great storyline, great characters, and of course, steamy scenes.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Ethan and Ava have so much baggage that didn't really have anything to do with them. Now they have a chance to get reacquainted without everyone knowing. This book hits the spot. Super read! Enjoy!!!
I just loved Ethan and Ava!! He was her brother childhood best friend and she was the little sister!! Years later they found each other again and it was a long road but the fell in love. I would recommend this book to anyone!
I liked this book better than the other bonus books that the author has with it. The plot line was easy to follow, there was a little bump here and there but overall, I enjoyed reading Dirty Little Secret.
arc review for honest review ethan is ava former brother best friend years later they get togather this causes ava is having hard time. this was a awsome story of ethan and ava lives togather and what they go through.
Dirty Little Secret was a well written, quick read. It had drama and heat. The characters were diverse and likable. Glad to see a strong heroine determined to charge ahead alone and a hero not afraid of hard work!
This is an amazing story that kept me going from the very beginning. Ethan and Ava have lots of obstacles from the past to overcome if they want to be together. Jess has once again written a story that has the characters coming to life.
