Torn Between Two Worlds

Rate this book
Cassie and Kade. What do you get when you mix a spoiled and sassy miss from Dallas with a stern and oh so sexy Scotsman? Sparks, that’s what! From the moment of their first meeting, Cassie realizes that she has not only met her match, she has found a man who doesn’t disappear in her daddy’s shadow. As their relationship blossomed, Kade proved time and time again that he was more than capable of dealing with her attitude and tantrums. Now they’re engaged and looking forward to a bright future.

Then comes the call that shatters their plans, and they learn the truth of the adage, Man plans and God laughs. A tragic accident has killed both Kade’s uncle, the Earl of Berwick, and his only son, the viscount. Kade is now the new earl and must return immediately to Inverness and accept his responsibilities. As his fiancée, Cassie comes along, but after the funerals, when reality hits, she’s not at all sure this new life is what she wants.

The weather is cold and damp, the estate buildings are in poor condition and, worst of all, if she marries Kade now, she’ll become a countess, something she’s dead set against. Her heart is torn between her love for Kade and her desire to remain in Texas, where she can be simply Cassie from Dallas. Leaving her ring behind, she returns home to think.

How can she possibly choose between the man she loves dearly – a man who is now an earl in Scotland – and the life she’s always wanted back in Texas? And will Kade be content to simply wait, or will his all-consuming love for his little lass have him doing some thinking of his own?

Publisher’s Note: This book contains elements of power exchange and old-fashioned discipline. If these offend you, please do not purchase.

ONCE IN A LIFETIME LOVE

I always enjoy a story that has a great cast of characters, plenty of angst and humor, and keeps the pages turning. An Unwelcome Inheritance series does all that and more and is an ongoing saga that will need to be read in written order. It has its ups and downs and even some laughing out loud moments

Cassie Bellingsworth and Kade MacPherson were making plans for their future when the unthinkable happens, and death will change their life in a way that was never wanted. The death of his Uncle and cousin will pass the title of Earl of Berwick to Kade. In shock, they will immediately leave Dallas and return to Scotland, attend the funeral, and life for them will change.

“Sometimes life hands you unexpected situations, and this is one of them.” “Don’t let the estate make you lose sight of the rest of your life.” “Planning without action is futile.”

Cassie is overwhelmed by the changes, and new responsibilities thrust upon Kade. Knowing that he never wanted the title or responsibilities as an earl, she also learned it isn’t an option, but a responsibility. Listening as people refer to him as my lord is overwhelming and then to contemplate that she is to be a countess has her head spinning. Cassie enjoys being easy-going, carefree, and not one to conform to social rules and staunch behavior has her in a panic. Moving into the Earl’s residence is the last straw and Cassie must escape back to Dallas and decide where her future will take her.

“She knew she had to go away before she could think about anything—Kade, their love, his being an earl, life in Scotland, Dallas, her own family, what she was going to do for the rest of her life, and even what it would mean to be a countess.”

Together, they have a strong bond and can leap any hurdles. Apart, they are both lost and missing that link that ties them to each other. Will Harper Billingsworth, along with Kade’s grandfather be able to offer advice and help them bring the earldom back to its glory and out of debt? What will it take for Cassie to accept not only Kade’s new role in life but hers too?

“If you love someone, you can do whatever you need to.” “If you love him, you can find a way to make everything else work.”

Maybe absents makes the heart grow fonder, and the separation gives Cassie time to decide what her life would be like without Kade in it. The relationship between Kade and Cassie has been steadily growing. She has accepted his dominance and that he will love her and keep her in line, and yes, spank her when she needs it. He is what grounds her, and he has great respect for her and her submission. The intimacy scenes are not overly explicit but more implied. I look forward to the next book in this series.

I truly enjoyed this second book about Cassie and Kade. They had some very difficult issues to deal with that created a lot of conflict. The plot was realistic in that regard with Cassie torn between wanting her life in Texas and wanting to be with Kade. Although there were serious issues at hand, the author found a way to make it amusing as well. I'm looking forward to book 3.

I really enjoyed this sequel from Laura Hart to a "Sassy Lass From Texas".
This can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading book one to
familiarize yourself with the characters and their relationships.I was drawn
to Cassie and Kade's relationship and the Scottish scenery. The plot focuses
on the struggle their relationship is subject to after a tragedy in Kade's family
sees them move back to Scotland.Kade has to now balance what is expected
of him and Cassie's growing dissatisfaction.Their Journey is both heart warming
and heartbreaking at times.Cassie's sassy behavior continues and lands her
bottoms up over Kade's knees.Include tantalizing sex scenes,a jealous brother,
a social climbing mother and you have one entertaining book.

Cassie is madly in love with Kade who knows exactly how to take her in hand. When tragedy happens, Kade has to return to Scotland and takes Cassie with him. Unfortunately, Cassie does not like her new home and the thought of being a countess when they marry scares her. So she goes back to Texas and their happiness is at jeopardy.

The energy between Cassie and Kade caught my attention right from the beginning. Apart from a few kisses there is no intimacy. The characters are all very interesting. I enjoyed reading the story very much.

I love Ms. Hart's "Across the pond romances." She's got sassy women paired with sensitive, but firm men. These books are part of series- which I love because I love to read more about the characters. Her books are funny- Cassie has "daydread" about an upcoming spanking and in an intimate moment, describes her man's member as a "windsock" that "blows with the weather." I really enjoyed this book and hope there is a third in the series. I also hope her two series' characters cross over (fingers crossed). I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

This is the second book in the series that I have read. So far Cassie and Kade's relationship has been going from strength to strength until Kade's relatives are killed in an accident and he inherited the title of Earl. Cassie is not sure that she wants to be a Countess and she definitely does not want to live in the cold and run down estate that comes with the title.

This is the story of how love can conquer all of the obstacles put in their way including the jealousy of Kade's brother who wants everything that Kade has.

First and foremost, I could not stand Cassie. She was extremely childish for her age. I did like almost everyone else in the book. I thought the information about Kade's part of the world was really the most interesting aspect of the book.

I could see where this would be a sweet romance, especially if someone other than Cassie was Kade's love interest. I would recommend it in spite of Cassie. It was an interesting book.

Great continuation form book 1. I feel you must read this as a series so if you have not already read book 1 before this book. This is a fun read that has lots of humor, bratty behavior and loving domestic discipline. The characters are well developed and there are some surprises in the plot. Please read.

Kade is a real gentleman and mature. He has a good head on his shoulders with business and life in general. Cassie whines too much and wasn't supporting when he needed her.
The first book was better, but this also has a happy ending. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
