Reviewing this book is very difficult. If it weren't for the fact that the stories collected within were donated to raise money for breast cancer, I would have given this one star. They were though, so I'm giving it three stars. I can't expect great editing from a book made by volunteers for charity.
That being said, I think the contributing authors could have proofread their works. Maybe ran a spellcheck on Word. Anything. Words are missing from sentences, there are random capitalizations everywhere, comma splices galore, incomplete sentences, subject-verb disagreement...and of course, we can't forget the dreaded alot. These authors aren't fans of Allie Brosh, clearly.
Most of these stories were dreadful. I guess because of the breast cancer theme, several focus heavily on boobs. Most of the ones that do I had trouble figuring out if the authors were trying to be satirical toward the horror genre's typical portrayal of women or if they were just creepy dude bros. Can't help but lean towards the latter. If they were going for satire, they missed the mark.
If you're a horror fan looking to help a good cause, pick this up. If you're looking for a more professional anthology of zombie stories though, consider getting The Living Dead from Night Shade Books to go with it.
