Her Master's Redemption

Rate this book
**THIS BOOK IS A STANDALONE WITHIN THE SERIES. READING THE OTHER BOOKS IN THE SERIES IS NOT NECESSARY BEFORE READING THIS NOVEL.** I was a Master. To understand me, you must understand my past. My heart was destroyed on a clear summer day when my child was stripped from my hands. Redemption for my crimes was lost, and loneliness like a man should never know was gained. Until I found Seraphina... She thought she could deny me. She thought she could choose her fate or determine the course her life would run. She thought she would never love another because she couldn't love herself. With a shattered heart and rebellious mind, she believed her life was broken. She chose death as an avenue to escape the life she was given, and she believed there was nobody who could stand in her way. Having been the man who rescued her from a cliff, it was my duty to show her... ...that all her beliefs were wrong. ** This book is intended for mature audiences only of 18 years of age or older. This story discusses sensitive topics.

descriptionThe cover on this one is OK. Fairly good representation of the story. Good composition and title work as well.description

descriptionThis is probably going to be the most bizarre review you have read in a LONG time. I didn't like this book. Hated it in fact. It was SOOO far beyond my comfort level. It made me physically ill. So I bet you are saying to yourself "Why the hell did you give it a 4-Star rating then?" For the very reason that it DID make me sick to my stomach. Because I spent the whole book with a giant lump in my throat. Because I HATED every male character in this book. Because my heart broke for every female in this book. Because it kept me hooked from page one. Because it was fantastically well written. Because it pulled SO many different emotions from me (anger, fear, hatred, disgust, pity, hope, redemption). Because it made me think, and feel, and question what would "I" do if placed in such a situation. Lord was I SO uncomfortable reading this book. But good god can this author write a story.

description

And honestly, isn't that what a GOOD book should make you feel? Shouldn't it make you think? Make you cry? Make you rage? So for all of the above reasons and about a thousand more I am sure I will think up later on, this one gets two thumbs up from yours truly. On a side note, I will NEVER read Aiden's book. Nothing will ever make this guy redeemable in my eyes. At least Anthony had a bit of compassion in him. What Aiden put Sera through at the end of this book was absolutely disgusting. And frankly, I don't think my heart or stomach could take a complete book of just him.description

Genre: Dark Romance
Type: Standalone book 3 of Masters Series
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

Anthony Bernal was once a well respected Master in the Society. But a personal lost took away his desire to remain in the lifestyle. However, when faced with another broken soul, he couldn't help but wanting to save her.

As a courtesan, Seraphina Ashland was supposed to be the pride of her owner. But from the beginning of her servitude, she was stripped of her humanity and forced to endure traumatic existence. She thought she needed an escape, not realizing that freedom could come in a different way.

From last book, I knew Anthony is going to be different. I was intrigued by the idea of how the dynamic would work.

He didn’t fool me with his soft voice and exotic accent. Behind his eyes lingered the shadow of a monster, of a person that had no qualms in stealing a woman away.

Anthony was the type of Master who preferred to demand submission in the form of seduction instead of a heavy hand. But that doesn't mean he was soft which I appreciate.

"What good is my life if my soul no longer exists?"

Seraphina was not what I expected her to be - which is a good thing. She has been through a lot, but there was still fighting spirit in her when pushed enough.

It wasn't like a Master to shatter along with the courtesan he trained. And although she wasn't technically mine, I would shatter nonetheless.

When it comes to D/s stories what I enjoy the most is seeing how characters break. In this case they were already broken to start with so that made it more interesting in how they'd respond to situations. I also love the manipulation aspect of the story even though a lot of times I feel those scenes stole the spotlight from another.

Her Master's Redemption follows two broken souls who learned to heal each other. It would appeal to readers who enjoy the psychological aspect of BDSM.

"...the simple truth has more value than diamonds or gold."

It is with the foresight of having read the four main books in the “Masters” series that I can say that this book, Her Master's Redemption is my very favorite. And…while Aiden’s story is most compelling and he is a too cruel and devastatingly enticing dark hero, I have fallen most ardently in love with Master Anthony.

The storyline in this particular dalliance into the dark world of Master/Courtesan, created so graphically, lyrically and compellingly by the writing of Ms. White, is like the unfolding of a complex puzzle box. Every piece fits intricately in and around the other; the whole giving the illusion of a simple form. Redemption, the pervasive theme of the book, is not an overly complex idea. It is vindication, absolution, reclamation, rescue, repossession. The deep dive into the psychological twists and turns of the Master/Courtesan relationship written in the development of the three main characters make up the puzzle of this story of a Master’s redemption.

The story begins with Master Anthony rescuing a woman falling off a cliff. She was intent on suicide. It seems her self-loathing began years ago with early drug abuse. While we applaud Master Anthony for rescuing her, our dark heroine, Seraphina, we become very unsure if he was wise to bring her to Master Aiden’s house.

Told in first-person alternating POVs, Anthony and Seraphina detail an erotic adventure once again not fit for the overly sensitive, judgmental, (those readers who feel the characters need to behave according to their social mores and constructs) or faint hearted.

If this is a world you can walk your psyche through, there is so much beauty and truth on display. And…for the vengeful beast inside of you, just enough comeuppance for the true evil doers. But…for the sinners…ah, you guessed it…there is “redemption”, the Master’s redemption.

“To a man like me, seeing a woman give herself fully, to see her find the sexual creature inside and glorify herself within its power, was the same as seeing God.”

Anthony Bernal is an exacting and mature Master that lost his edge due to a tragedy; but when a second chance is offered, Anthony immediately acts in an attempt to find closure. Due to the logistics, Anthony seeks refuge in a fellow Master’s home but is surprised to discover that the Society’s rules dictate how to handle this unusual situation.

“What you would have so easily thrown away, I have acquired. Your life is no longer yours, but mine.”

While suffering at the hands of monsters, Seraphina Ashland exhibited incredible fortitude and is desperate to control her own destiny. In making certain choices, Sera’s life comes full circle when she realizes the identity of her rescuer and how she must fight yet again and confront her biggest demon.

“How much did the universe hate me to pluck me from the moment I thought it all would end, just to plant me back at the beginning?”

What ensues is series of events involving Anthony and Sera that test their own limits. For Sera, she has been tortured using unimaginable methods and while she is broken in many ways, her last bit of resolve is centered toward someone that has the ability to ultimately break her. By cracking into tiny little pieces, it also gives Sera the opportunity to rebuild but only if she can truly submit.

“Your life is no longer yours, but mine.”

The emotional pain these characters experience is profound but when adding the psychological and physical elements, the gravity of their situation is compounded and it’s palpable. Neither has an easy situation and regaining their wholeness comes with a price.

“I’d been stripped down to the bone, every bit of my pride and self-worth peeled away until all that was left was an empty husk.”

While on the surface Anthony may seem like a Master with a big heart, he is also serious and demanding. Seeing him as calculative while also being compassionate endeared his character. When it came to his dealings with his good friend those moments tested the tenacity of both men and feeling such intense emotions ultimately propels Anthony into thinking like a Master again.

“Once I was secured, he tucked his palms beneath my ass cheeks and buried himself inside me so deep I was barely able to take him in. My chest arched up, my breasts hungry for touch, as he moved inside me like a man gone mad.”

From the beginning, Sera won my heart due to her ability to carve out a protective shell to survive. The most satisfying moment for her character growth was when she was willing to confront her fears despite knowing the depths of hell she would have to experience again.

With some twists and characters from the previous books, the plot takes the reader down a dark path of redemption where the characters become more broken than they were from the start. While it is cruel and evil at times, it is also the way the world functions for Masters and courtesans in the Society. Is it depraved? Is it wrong? Is it manipulative? Is it intriguing as it pertains to the human condition? The answer is yes to all!

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed (and painfully at times) the chosen path for Anthony and Sera. I also welcomed the inclusion of Aiden as a strong secondary character and was relieved to see he hasn’t softened in any way.

For those who truly appreciate psychological manipulation and can survive in the most sinister of environments, I highly recommend Her Master’s Redemption!

*Side note:
Even though this book can technically be read as a standalone, this series should be read in order. If book one seems too dark then please start with book two. Her Master’s Redemption has spoilers for the previous books and to fully understand the depth of the plot and how it affects all characters, it’s best enjoyed in order.

***DISCLAIMER***

Although you can read this as a standalone (mainly because it's THAT well written), I don't recommend it. I truly believe that you need to read the others (at least the first installment) to grasp the entire picture that will be laid out before you in this book.

You know that moment you finish a book and just....stare at the last page? You try to blink your eyes in hopes that another page will appear so that it's not the end, but, it just doesn't happen. And then you're stuck trying to unwrap what you've just read, only to STILL stare at that page. Well, that's exactly what happened to me. I wasn't staring because I didn't like the book. I wasn't staring because it didn't make sense. Nope, I was staring because although I knew it had to come to an end, I didn't want it to.

Seraphina is completely broken. She's been dealt a very hard life, lived through it, but no longer has the desire to live. While attempting to rid herself from her world, she's saved. But she's not ready. She doesn't want saving. And the last place she thought she'd open her eyes was in an extremely familiar place. One that she just can't seem to escape from.

Master Anthony is lost. Well...he's just not the same since a tragic accident changed his life, and the last thing he needed was a reminder of what changed everything. But that's what he gets while driving one day. Not only was it a reminder, it was way too close and he feels as though he needs to make amends. Is the Master back from the dead? Can he find his redemption?

(Sigh) This book. This book has left me dealing with many things. As you can guess, with 100% accuracy, your mind will be blown. Even when you think you know what's going to hit you, you have no idea. Then there's the fact we're given a broken woman who has reached her breaking point, only to be broken even further than you think is possible. And let's not forget Master Anthony and the things he goes through. This has become my absolute favorite Master's book thus far. Not only are we pulled in to Anthony and Seraphina's story, we get to re-live all that is Aiden. And THAT is worth reading over and over again!!! After all, it's all about redemption.

Title: Her Master's Redemption
Author: Lily White
Series: Masters #3
Genre: dark romance
Themes: abduction, BDSM, forced slavery
Heat: 3/5
Rating: 3/5

I really wanted to obsess over this book. Her Master's Courtesan is one of the best dark erotic novels I've ever read, so when this was announced, I was all over the place with giddiness. Perhaps my expectations were too high but I was left feeling a little disappointed.

This was, by no means, a bad book. It was good—it was interesting, it had a twist or two, and White's power play is always one of her strengths. I was just hoping for darker. It seems almost as if White shied away slightly from the descriptive brutality of Courtesan. There were plenty of opportunities to delve into this but they were often glossed over, and that's where this novel failed to live up to the first in the series.

I also felt that the twist at the end was a little forced. White tends to write stunning ones, beautifully woven into the story, but this felt too far-fetched in my opinion. The power play should have perhaps been highlighted a little more, and the relationship at the centre of the novel also needed more focus.

Overall, entertaining and a decent read, just not matching the highs of the first book in the series.

Although most if not all the major players make appearances in this 4th installment, so far this was my least favorite book in the series. I say this because the first half of the book was rather slow with a lot of talk and very little action. However, this is a Lily White book so of course, things do eventually pick up and as expected, I was totally and completely consumed by the time I flipped to the final page! Oh Aiden Oliver.... he never ceases to amaze me! I hope and pray that Ms. White will continue to grace the reading world with this enigmatic, one-of-a-kind character!!!

This was my first venture into Lily White's Dark Romances and while this one wasn't an out of the park homerun for me it does have me wanting to read more of her work. I enjoy a good dark read and that is exactly what we have here, If you are looking for butterflies and sunshine this is not the book for you, but, if you enjoy Dark reads you should give this story a go.

This story had me feeling a bit nauseous at times with the way the women were treated but I was in the right mindset for the DARK read thankfully. I have to stress that this is a DARK read there is nothing Light and Fluffy about it. So if you're up for a good dark read I would recommend this book.

This is yet another beauty by Lily’s masterful hands. Anthony is a man that’s haunted by his past. Sera is a woman that’s given up because of hers. He stops her from committing suicide and brings her to the home of Aiden,Master in a group called the Society,so that together, they can bring this poor girl back to life. That man....damn that man! He really is in top-form in this story.... The twists and turns keep you on your toes along with Sera. You’d think she’s been through enough, right? I dare you to find out for yourself what happens and trust me when i say:brace yourself,it’s one hell of a story!

Master Aiden has always been the most intriguing and mesmerizing of all the villains I've read.......ever!. The MoFo has the cruelest streak and hardest hand when training courtesan.
Though the book has Seraphina & Anthony at the centre of all turmoil, This story has Aiden's shadow all over. He is still in charge, holding the whip and Sera's heart.

"He cast you aside after forcing you to love him. He handed you to the wolves, beautiful girl. He didn't care whether you lived or died. But he can still have you. No matter how much you hate him, he can still do to your body what he does to hers. And there's not a damn thing you can do about it."

Sera is jumping over the cliff..literally and her life has been nothing but surviving in a pit full of ghosts of her past. She's had enough . So she finds a nearest cliff to say goodbye to the cruel world but as fate would have it , Anthony saves her.
Sera actually dies on the bridge, a new sera takes her place . Finders keepers as they say .Her life , graciously saved by Anthony, now belongs to him. To break her and rebuild her again. But you can't break the already broken, you can't scare a woman who has nothing left to lose, no will to live. She craves pain, wants torture, begs for death.
An uphill task ahead for both masters indeed. Here's where The astuteness of being a True Master comes into being.
Aiden takes over ( Yessss!!)

"A Master does his job by knowing his slave better than the slave knows themself. We read what a person is saying through non-verbal cues. We know when they've been pushed too far, and we know when they need to be pushed farther."

The story in part is really amazing, the parts where Aiden steps in , that is. Anthony is all heart and soft emotions. Sera is broken and struggling, only Aiden has the ability to foresee everything and set it right.
The most amazing parts were how Aiden walks her through her torture , in order to heal her. He can sense which parts of her life haunt her, give her nightmares and since poison kills poison, he walks her through them, in turn purging her demons.
What will it be, Seraphina? Do you fight for your life or give in?

So Bravo for that Ms white !!
Some places I felt that the scenes was left undescribed. The real dark themes that lily is famous for were more fade to black. The theme was very intense, mood of the story ominous . Yet somewhere it just left me hungry for more.
She's still the True Black Blood Queen of The Dark , no doubt , the book is excellent, just not my favorite of the series.
The END!! .. Master Aiden actually admits something!* gasp*
I'm gonna have to buy skates , cause the Hell has frozen over !!!

Unfortunately, I read until 49% and I just couldn't get into the story. I did not form a connection with Seraphina or Anthony and found myself exasperated by Aiden's part in the story. I absolutely adore the author and her previous works but this one I just personally felt fell too much inside the lines and didn't engross me.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

Her Master's Redemption is the third book in Lily White's Masters Series. You can read this book as a standalone but it was recommended to me that I read Her Master's Courtesan first. I got a better understanding of Aiden and I got to experience an amazing book that I had owned for quiet a while and hadn't had time to read. Bad mistake on my part. This book is not as dark as Her Master's Courtesan but it does have dark elements.

Anthony was a Master. To understand him, you must understand his past. His father was a Master. His mother a Courtesan. He was raised in a business that trained women to become everything that the men who owned them desired. He was taught to train with a strict hand ...but to seduce with a kind heart. He followed in his fathers foot steps never once finding love, but almost gaining a son. This event destroyed his heart on a clear summer day when his child was stripped from his hands. Redemption for my crimes was lost and loneliness like a man should never know was gained. Until he found Seraphina. She thought she could deny him. She thought she could choose her fate or determine the course her life would run. She thought she could never love another because she couldn't love herself. With a shattered heart and a rebellious mind, she believed her life was broken. She chose death as an avenue to escape the life she was given, and she believed there was nobody who would stand in her way. As her Master it was Anthony's duty to show her that all her beliefs were wrong.

Holy wow what a book. Like I said before if you have read Her Master's Courtesan you know exactly how dark that book was. This one is not quiet as dark but has its moments for sure. Anthony is a broken Master and has all but quiet The Society. Visiting Aiden, he is on his way back to his hotel when the memory of the life he lost turns out to be a girl standing on the edge of a cliff about to throw herself off of it. Death is the only thing that Sera can think of that will cure the pain she is in and she welcomes it. And we end up along with Sera at Aiden's house once again. She is broken. Anthony is broken and Aiden thinks that Anthony has lost his mind but gladly steps in to help his heal this courtesan. Turn out Sera was one of Aiden's first and he was a failure at it and the cause of what has happened in her life. However, there is so much more to what is going on with both Anthony and Sara and you will just have to read it to find out what is going on and what happens.

In true Lily White fashion you are taken on a journey that will capture your mind and heart and leave you breathless. I will warn you too that if your a fan of Aiden you are so not going to be happy with him in this book. In fact I hated him. I could have strangled him a time or twenty. But as we all know there is a method to the madness and Lily White will wind you around and around, up and down and out into the light.

Master Anthony is finally here!

Her Master's Redemption is the third book in Lily White's Masters Series. It is suggested that you can read this as a standalone, however to understand the whole "Society scene" and the man that is Master Aiden, I would recommended that you read Her Master's Courtesan and Her Master's Teacher first.....you will thank me later.

So in HMR, we have two very broken souls, Master Anthony and Seraphina (I love that name). I'm not going to give to anything away, but expect a very dark, distrubing, heartbreaking and beautiful story. As with all Lily White books, it's not an easy ride and there were many occasions I got teary eyed and then I wanted to punch something. I really fell in love with Master Anthony in the previous book and I was not let down by him in this story, he was divine.

Master Aiden does make a necessary appearance in this story too and oh how I love and hate that bastard! He is the one character that gets under my skin, I hate him.....then I love him.....then he makes me laugh out loud.....then I hate him again....then I'm back to loving him and actually understanding the games that he plays with people.

Those that have read the previous Her Master books will not be disappointed. Lily is one exceptional and beautiful writer and this is another masterpiece!

Fans of Lily White and this epic series will be shocked with this third book, shocked because although the darker scenes are set and your thirst for darkness will be met this book is so much more and shows you who and what a true Master is all about.

Lily White made me laugh throughout which I never thought I would be doing reading this series, made my cry tears of sadness but also tears of joy. The sexual scenes are hot in every kinky way!

Loved that all previous Masters starred in this book and Master Aiden - I want to shake his hand!

No spoilers from me - Master Anthony & Seraphina's story is not an easy one, two broken people giving up on life with no end in sight.

I hope we get more in this series, with a better understanding of the Master's I think people will not be so fast to judge this series in a negative way.

dnf @ 60%. It wasn't bad. The writing was good, and plot coherent. Excessive use of descriptive language and fade to black scenes took away from the story for me. Anthony and Sera's POVs were too similar, the same flowery language was used by both of them. It's a shame because I liked how the POVs were ordered, the story flowed well. It had a lot of potential, I see a lot of people liking it. I just wasn't in the mood for the poetic descriptions.

You see that beginning paragraph in the blurb that says Her Master's Redemption is a ‘STANDALONE WITHIN THE SERIES’ Let me tell you now, that is a lie. You really, REALLY, need to read the previous books in the Masters if for nothing else to prepare you for Aiden.

Finally! The book we have all been waiting for. No not where Aiden gets what’s coming to him. Anthony gets his book! We finally get to learn what about the Master we all adore and discover what happened to Anthony to make him so sad. Oh, what a heart-wrencher it is, too. Then there is Seraphina. There are too many YIKES to describe her past. A courtesan in the wrong, abusive hands. Her life broken, so many scars on her body and soul. All she seeks is the oblivion of death to escape her life. Not if Anthony has any say on the matter, and as a Master, only his opinion counts!

I can’t decide if I was more excited to learn Anthony’s story or to get sucked back into Aiden’s world. It’s a close toss up but I think, in this case, Aiden came in second. Anthony and Seraphina are of two certain peas in a pod. Both broken lost and floundering through life. Who is the braver one: The one who wanted to end it or the one who persevered? In her own way, I think Anthony saw her as a mirror to his pain and a second chance to do it right this time. I’m not going to hash it out on what transpires between them. All I will say is, Anthony is proof that you don’t need to be a sadistic (Bleep!) to be a great Master.

Now for a word about Aiden. SMH… Just when I think, he has gone as low as he possibly can go, Ms. White finds a new level of depravity to take us to. In its own way, Her Master's Redemption is more than just redemption for Anthony and Seraphina. There’s some for our favorite lovable, sadist. Seems Master Aiden hasn’t always been the perfect Master he is now. Guess everybody needs to start somewhere.

Pardon me while I still work to find my words at the brilliance and mastery of the story of courage, love, trust, forgiveness, and yes, redemption found in Her Master’s Redemption.

In Her Master’s Redemption, we meet Seraphina. Sera is a survivor. One hell of a fighter. But she’s also a bit broken. A woman who needs to be brought back into line. One who Anthony desperately wants—in his bed and under his control.

But Anthony is a bit broken too. He’s not the Master he once was. He’s riddled with guilt over his perceived failure to himself and his abilities as a Master. But after such a long time away from the Society, he’s finally at a point to where he wants to try.

I was immediately drawn to Sera and her strength. I was desperate to know her full backstory. Desperate to see her live and find herself again. Yeah, even if she was a sex slave under Anthony. And Anthony. God, I just wanted him to get his mojo back. To stop living in the past. To become the Master he was.

Twisted, right? But there’s so damn much more to this story. The writing is seductive. You won’t want to stop reading. I know I didn’t. I planned to read just a chapter or two before bed, next thing I know it’s 2:30 AM and the book was finished.

I have loved the dark, disturbed characters Lily White created in the first Master’s book, Her Master’s Courtesan and I loved catching up with each of the Masters in Her Master’s Redemption. Aiden and Rebecca have pivotal roles in Her Master’s Redemption, and Holland and Elise appear as well.

Brace yourself. Her Master’s Redemption is dark. It’s disturbed. It’s gut wrenching and sexy AF. It’s brilliantly written and I hated for it to end. ~ Missy, 5 stars

Whenever I begin a new Lily White book, I'm never quite sure what dark road she will take me down and that anticipation and uncertainty always adds to my enjoyment. Her Master's Redemption is the third book in the Master's series. While it can be read as a standalone, I highly suggest reading the other books first so you can fully experience this world of Masters and Courtesans.

Anthony is an interesting and unique Master. He's been out of the game for awhile because of a personal tragedy that has left him quite broken. When he meets Seraphina, he is drawn to her and can't help wanting to save her. His uniqueness comes from his technique. Though string and firm, he believes in obtaining submission through charm and seduction. It appears a much kinder and less harsh method than we have seen in the past. Though, as you read on, you realise both Anthony and Seraphina will be facings challenges and a dark path neither probably expected or foresaw.

Seraphina has dealt with unimaginable abuse and longs for freedom. When she meets Anthony she thinks he's the answer to all of her unspoken prayers, not realizing his kind of salvation will require her to be broken completely in order to find a new life. Considering all she went through, she has tremendous spirit which makes her a very compelling female lead. I definitely squirmed at times as she endured one seemingly awful situation after another. When some of the other Masters and Courtesans enter the story the squirming intensified.

Her Master's Redemption is a well written, story that will take you down dark and uncomfortable paths and will leaving you hungering for the continuation that has been building along these books. I can't wait to see where Lily White ultimately takes these characters.

description

Two souls, both dark and damaged; Anthony by his past failures and Seraphina by the society that had her before.

I was immediately taken by the opening to this story. We find Anthony in a similar place to what broke him and Sera at the end of her ropes. Then the story begins and you see if these two broken people can put the other back together. There is a lot of fight left in Seraphina regardless of what she came from and there is only some patients left in Anthony's willpower.

Anthony used to be one the top Master's in the society until it all fell apart. He lost his "thing" and had decided not to take on another courtesan until he find Seraphina. Sera who is running from a less than stellar existence can't imagine going back to where it all began. Watching these two battle it out was one of the things that drew me into this story and held me there until the end.

This is not my first book by this author but my first of this series. She has a poetic and captivating way about her writing that I thoroughly enjoy. This story can be read as standalone but I did feel like I was missing some depth from the other characters that I think I would have gotten had I read about them before. If like a dark BDSM with chilling characters and backstories than this is series that you should check out.

Her Master’s Redemption (Master’s #3)
By: Lily White
4.5 Stars

We waited and waited for another book in the Her Master’s Series…The wait was certainly worth the wait. This is book 3 in the series but can still be read as a standalone if you have not read the previous books.

In this book we meet Seraphina (Sera) a broken, lost, at her wits end and ready to throw away everything young lady. Trained as a courtesan, sold and abused, she has finally escaped and trying to survive.

Aiden is trying to survive in his world that has been turned upside down in the worst imaginable way!

Together Aiden and Sera will save each other if Master Anthony doesn’t enforce the ‘rules’ of the Society.

What a ride!

Twisted, dark and mind games galore, this is what Lily White's books deliver and she didn't disappoint with this latest read of hers.

The main characters are brilliantly crafted in fighting so well with each other, especially when it comes to relinquishing control. I loved the banter, the animosity between the hero and heroine and the pull they cannot resist towards each other.

There are thrilling and suspenseful plots throughout the book that have you feeling frustrated and pulling on your heart strings especially with the pull the characters have towards one another. There are mind games galore and if you like dark erotica themes then this read is for you.

This book can be read as a standalone but I would recommend reading the others in the series to understand the society that exists in this storyline.

Oh my.... I have missed that sadistic Master Aiden, although, this story focuses more on Master Anthony and his newly acquired courtesan, Sera.

Sera has faced more demons than any other character I've read. She is literally standing on a precipice, unsure how much more she can endure, when Master Anthony steps in, making that decision for her. Through their paces, Master Anthony must face his own demons....is he strong enough to shoulder their combined past? Is Sera?

"As her Master, it was my duty to lead her to the light, regardless of how deep the shadows were that terrified her."

Master Aiden, whom we all love to hate, or is it, hate to love... proves once again that though he may appear to be a cold-hearted, ruthless bastard, and in fact may very well be, but he does indeed know what is best, and will do anything to prove it.

I cringed, I cried, I laughed and sighed... Lily has a way of weaving and capturing the beauty of the most horrific events, pulling you in beyond the surface, and immersing you into the world of a Master and courtesan.

Amazing!

Oh how I have waited for Anthony's story.
Has he claimed a piece of my heart? Yes
Was it worth the wait? Definitely
There were so many reasons to love this book.
Anthony a fair but every bit a brilliant master.
Seraphina so full of fight even when broken.
This story is beautifully put together.
We have the enigma that is Aiden. His part in this story is not only crucial it allows us another dimension to consider. Rebecca is very much at his side.
There is also Holland and Claire. Who have been included very cleverly by Lily White.
I do not wish to give away the plot.
All I will add is that if you love Lily White you will be sucked right back into The Society. The darkness is not far away. The hope, the complete submission is the saviour. Can redemption be found?
