I’ve been waiting for another Hope Town book for the longest time, and I was so happy when Shane and Nikki’s story landed on my kindle! The Hope Town series is a spin off series of Harper’s Corps Security books. The last one was about Ember (Maddox’s daughter) and Nate (Axel’s son). Although Nikki and Shane aren’t Corps Security kids, Shane is Nate’s business partner and friend, and Nikki is Ember’s bff.

Shane and Nikki both have the same problem. They both have a dreaded ex that won’t go away. Nikki has the grand idea that the two of them could have a mutually beneficial arrangement. They could have some hot sex, since it’s clear their chemistry is off the charts, and pretend to be in a committed relationship to get their ex’s off their backs. Shane isn’t sure if this is a good idea at first, but Nikki is able to persuade him.
“This is a dangerous game.”

“Dangerous is my middle name,” I joke, winking at him and still not releasing my hold. “I like dangerous.”

Neither Nikki or Shane expected things to turn out the way they did. Feelings become real, and these two connect on an entirely different level then either one expected.

Nikki was a great heroine. Like most of Harper’s leading ladies, she didn’t take any crap and was comfortable being herself. And then there was Shane… our little control freak who speaks french. Sigh. Shane is the best kind of hero!

Drunk on You is by far one of Harper’s hottest books! If you’re looking for a sexy read, you won’t be disappointed! Nikki and Shane’s chemistry was beyond off the charts hot! I love the combination of emotion, humor, and steaminess that Harper has in this series.

This book has elements of friendship, falling in love, and acceptance. I loved how Nikki accepted Shane for who he was and never wanted him to change. I loved both Nikki and Shane and it’s always great getting to catch up with characters I love from the previous books as well. This is one I think you can read as a stand-alone, but I love the other books in the series so much I’d recommend you read them all! I’m excited to see whats next in the world of Hope Town! I’m hoping we get a book with Shane’s sister and a certain Cage boy!

I am a huge fan of the "Hope Town" series as well as the "Corps Security" series. Actually I have loved every single book this author has written !! So you will understand my level of giddiness, when I got my hands on this gem ;)

tumblr_inline_n578vpribf1ro6nvl.gif (245×186)

Just like with the previous 3 books, I absolutely fell in love with this 4th book and the characters in it !!

Shane and Nikki were both awesome characters but, they were also extremely HOT. I think this is one of the hottest books by Harper Sloan that I've read...which is saying something because they are all flaming !! Shane is quite the dirty talker ;)

20645218.gif (437×245)

Now those of you, who have read the previous book, "When I am with you" , are already familiar with Nikki and Shane. Nikki is Ember's best friend and Shane is Nate's. I would advise everyone to read this previous book first since Nikki and Shane do play a big part in that book. Actually... I would advise everyone to read the whole series and the Corps Security one because they are that freaking good !!

jaydenkiss GIF

Nate and Nikki are kind of struggling with the same issue. A crazy cheating ex, who just won't take a hint and get lost.

After both being stalked for about a year by their exes, these two come together and start a plot. They are both extremely attracted to one another, and since they were both burned by their exes, they aren't looking for anything serious....

Why not take advantage of this chemistry between them, and convince the rest of the world that they are in a serious relationship in the meantime ?? That should take care of those crazy exes, who are sniffing around....and it would also take care of this crazy attraction between them.

So they make a deal... They will be a "fake" couple and enjoy each other, as long as is lasts for their exes to finally take the hint.

21552393.gif (445×281)

They didn't expect that there would be such a huge connection between them though... Shane is quite the dominant man, and being in control is one of the most important things in his life... especially when it comes to sex. Nikki never knew she would get this turned on by his controlling ways... She is the perfect submissive to his dominant side.

Now for those of you who are not into BDSM... no worries. There isn't any hardcore BDSM going on. This is more about who is in control...which leads to some delicious spanking and Nikki getting tied up :P

"Ça va être mon plaisir de jouer avec tois, chèrie" .....

Translation.. It's gonna be my pleasure to play with you, darling

21885904.gif (500×281)

We all know though, that when you play with fire... you might get burned and these two are definitely playing a dangerous game. Soon the lines between "fake" and "real" start to blur.

But will they be able to move on from their pasts, and put their trust in one another....

Like I said.. I absolutely loved this book. It was a bit lower on the angsty side than the previous books though. I think that is because, even though this book deals with some crazy exes, this couple mostly struggles with problems on the inside. They need to conquer their own demons...especially Shane.

What I also love about Harper Sloan's books, is that I am guaranteed a heroine, I will like. It's so hard for me to find books with likable heroines and she has never let me down. Nikki was absolutely wonderful and as for Shane.... damn I need to know where I can find a Shane for myself !!!

12550954.gif (500×272)

I highly recommend this book, and this is definitely one of my favorite mf series. The next one will be about Shane's sister Libby and one of the Cage boys..though I have no idea which one yet. Can't wait. Keep writing Harper Sloan ... and I will keep reading ;)

Drunk On You is Harper Sloan's fourth release from her Hope Town series and follows Nikki and Shane, whom you've met already if you've read this series. Both are dealing with crazy exes that don't want to leave them alone and also their attraction to each other that seems to have doubled in heat since they've both learned the other is single. Which leads to the perfect idea for how to get both of their annoyances out of the way, start fake dating.

As romance readers we all know that "fake dating" will eventually turn into something more. But with Nikki and Shane their attempt at fake dating kicked that something more right out of the way and became the sexiest and most intriguing thing I've read in awhile. They had steamy chemistry and I loved reading those long glances they would take of each other from across the bar. And if you needed the reminder, Shane is a sexy beast that you can find shaking his tightly toned ass on his bar.

Don't let the crazy ex thing deter you from reading this book, though. As crazy as they were Harper Sloan still didn't put in an excessive amount of drama involving them, which I really appreciated. There was angsty moments that intrigued me but nothing that had me rolling my eyes and skimming. i loved how Nikki and Shane handled those moment and it actually had me falling for them a little harder.

Because there's only a slight connection between these characters and the rest of the series I would say that it could be read as a standalone with no problem. It's a big recommend from me for anyone that likes some hot as hell scenes that go along with all of the chemistry between characters. I think Shane will actually surprise some people so I can't wait to see what everyone else thinks of him.

SACREBLEU!!! *cue dousing myself with cold water*

Yeah, Harper Sloan always gives us smoking hot books, but ladies, this one was OFF THE CHARTS!!! One of the hottest books I have ever read, without a doubt. So considered yourselves warned – Panties may self combust with Mr. Control Freak himself, Shane Kingston! ;)

If you’ve read When I’m With You, Nate and Ember’s story, Shane and Nikki are no strangers to you, as the best friends, respectively, of the couple.

Physically attracted to one another from the moment they met, they never acted on it, first, because they were both in relationships at the time, and then when they were both cheated on and had to break it, because they were not aware the other was single, given their exs couldn’t seem to let them go. Well, Nikki has reach her limit, so why not use their unmeasurable attraction, to kill two birds with one stone, and get rid of the clingers, faking a relationship, while indulging on their bodies craving for one another?! Sounds simple enough, right?! LOL

I miss the connection I’ve deprived myself of. The chemistry between a man and woman. Companionship.

I was completely in control of my life now. Nothing would change that.

Of course, Shane is not that easy to convince – hello, Mr. Control Freak after all – and tries to prove that to Nikki, and show her all the reasons for which it can be a bad idea. Not, mind you, because he doesn’t want her (oh boy, does he WANT her), but because he knows that nothing is simple about their volcanic connection.

Until the day that changes, I’m going to keep doing what I’ve done since the day she crashed into my life … ignore the twinge inside me that demands I claim her.

“A man like me … I would ruin you and have you begging to be ruined all over again once you’d recovered.”
“Don’t underestimate me, Shane Kingston.”

Oh, that’s right, also because he’s truly a control freak in every way, but specially the bedroom! That’s right, you can call him SIR! Like that man needed to be any hotter! With moves and sex appeal like his, poor Nikki, she stood no chance!

All I can do now is pray that she meant what she said because, one way or the other, Nikki Clark will be mine.

But Nikki isn’t the only one being surprised, because not in a million years, would Shane have guessed that the sexy, sassy and outspoken Nikki, to be a submissive at heart. Well, lucky for them! Match made in Kinky Heaven! ;)

Until this moment, I never would have guessed I had a docile bone in my body, but there is no doubt Shane dominates every single part of me.
Body and mind.

“Your body burns for me, Nikki, and all I’ve done is tasted your mouth. You think it matters if we know each other past that to fuck? I barely touch you, and you come alive.”

A we all know, there is never anything simple on a fake relationship arrangement, specially when the couple is burning up the sheets, at the level these two are, so evidently feelings can’t be deleted from the equation, on either part, and that apparent simple agreement is just the start of something SO much deeper.

With just her hands and mouth, she fucking owns me.
And I’ll gladly let her.

The last thought I’m aware of floating through my mind is that I’ve just been ruined for any other man. I’m so royally and literally screwed now.

“Not sure I can be your fake anything, mon colibri.”

Just like the last time with him, my mind fogs and I become drunk on the feelings he brings forth with his touch.

Yep, we knew it, and deep down they knew it too, so when the feeling became too much, too strong, and to apparent, there was nothing left but take them to heart and assume all they were to each other. I loved that them didn’t roll around in denial for almost all the book, it took a serious event, and a bit of help from their friends, but upon realization there was no more denial, and it was full steam ahead. And if there was one thing these two had in abundance it was STEAM!

“The first time I felt that hummingbird vibrate against my naked skin, you became mine, and there wasn’t a fucking thing fake about it, Nicole.”

“Do you see how hard I am for you?”
“Yes, Sir,” she pants.
“Never, Nicole. I’ve never wanted someone as much as I do you.”

I have to state this out, Shane was a pack of male deliciousness! Seriously, Harper gave us a irresistible male character with this man, a smoking hot package with unaccountable sex appeal, rocking the bedroom talk with his domineering ways, speaking and saying the sweetest things in the language of love, like we stood any chance, declares and pours his heart out in the most swoon-worthy matter! Even his thoughts were gold I tell you!

When you have the real thing, you can see how cheap the imitations you had in the past hold up in what matters in life.
Almost two months ago, the girl I had a crazy-as-fuck crush on gave me an opening. I didn’t realize she would become my everything when we started our fake relationship. Now, I know there was never anything about it that wasn’t real. She’s meant for me. I was made for her. Two halves of a fucking whole and I know, without her, I’ll never have happiness again.

Sure, the whole sexual/sensual dancing with teasing and grinding for other women was something that put me off, personally, because I’m far too possessive of my male characters and my man to allow that (LOL), but Nikki was perfectly fine with it. She even got off on it, so you know, whatever rocks your boat.

Even if he was stripping it all off like he used to, I think I would still feel the same way. He’s mine and I’m his. The rest is just a show.”

It really was a beautiful and well written story, and I enjoyed and loved reading about these two, though I would have loved even more without a doubt if not for his – and hers – insistence on the whole ‘show’ side, because there was one or two moments in those events I really wish it weren’t featured there. I could live with a stage performance, with zero contact with the audience, but the way it happened, that was just a major turn off for me, and made me mad with Shane, and not for the same reasons Nikki was, LOL. It’s no news how jealous and possessive I am with my Hs! Yes, I’m weird like that. ;)

There was also a couple of character and development inconsistencies, that caught my attention, as well as a too big emphasis on their attraction from the moment they met, but easily discarded that I know it was the right attitude at the time for them, but I didn’t wan’t emphasized so much, and more than once in the present. I don’t want to be reminded more than once they were instantly and constantly attracted to one another, but easily moved on to other people (specially in Shane’s case), and didn’t fight for that connection. Their love story starts in the present, so let’s forget all about those feelings in the past.

Don’t get me wrong, those are just a details, because Shane really was close to perfect, and the way he grovels in the end… WOW! I fell for him and his french silver tongue right then and there! Full on dreamy devotion to Nikki! Sigh…

You have all of me. “There is nothing more important than that, mon amour. Every single inch of me. Inside and out. Body and heart. My control and trust. It’s all yours, Nikki.”

Drunk On You – which is the perfect title, btw – surprised me in the best of ways, and like I said before, you can’t forget something that is easily one of the HOTTEST stories you have ever read! It’s a really high bar that Harper Sloan set here, with these two. I devoured this as fast as starving person faced with a decadent chocolate cake – ok, with Harper Sloan’s I always do, lol – , and I wanted even more of these two, but I’m sure that just like with Ember and Nate, that we got to see quite a lot, and I loved every second, Shane and Nikki will get plenty of air time in his sister’s book, the next Hope Town! Can’t wait!!! <3 <3 <3 <3

“Je t’aime,” she gasps, her whole body shaking as she continues to cry, only now she’s smiling the biggest grin down at me. “I love you,” she repeats. “I love you so much it hurts.”
“Je t’aime, mon amour. Je t’aime.”

In the end, we both got our exes out of our lives and won the greatest gift of all.
Each other.

A solid 4 stars ! Harper Sloan is truly a master at true romance with easy characters to cheer on. I will never get tired of her books and the happiness they bring me. Loved Shane & Nikki together. They were both great strong characters and the sexual heat between these two was off-the-charts HOT!

“Think real hard about taking this, Nicole. If you put your number in there, you’re as good as mine for however long we decide to … handle each other. I’m not the kind of man you want to be playing games with.”

Boy, do I love this series! Harper Sloan never fails to deliver a love story full of emotions. Having these characters still around brings me so much happiness because I don't think I will be able to handle saying goodbye to my beloved Corps Security and Hope Town crew when the time comes. Thank God there is more coming our way!

Drunk on You is the fourth installment in the Hope Town series and just let me be perfectly clear on this: Harper Sloan knows how to write an extremely hawt control freak! This story is about Shane Kingston (Nate's business mate and best friend) and Nikki Clark (Ember's BFF and a school teacher): two people who have been out of relationships for a while but their exes are still in the picture. What is the wonderful idea that comes to their minds because of that? A "fake" relationship, of course!

“Think real hard about taking this, Nicole. If you put your number in there, you’re as good as mine for however long we decide to… handle each other. I’m not the kind of man you want to be playing games with.”

Let's just start by saying that these two don't need to fake anything AT ALL. Shane and Nikki are very attracted to each other and when they act on it.. pure sizzling chemistry! My Kindle (and myself!) was burning because damn.. this couple is off-the-charts hot. I mean, Shane knows how to dominate (in delicious French language, YUM!) and how to move that sexy body too.

His touch was as intoxicating as a drink to an alcoholic.

Again, as with all the other books created by this amazing author, we have a fantastic list of characters. You probably noticed by now that I REALLY enjoyed this couple but I also love those marvelous secondary characters. I love all the relationships shown troughout these novels and Drunk on You was no exception to that. It was a great reading experience.

“Vous avez tous moi,” I softly tell her. You have all of me. “There is nothing more important than that, mon amour. Every single inch of me. Inside and out. Body and heart. My control and trust. It’s all yours, Nikki.”

Therefore, I am rating Drunk on You with 4.5 STARS because it brought me all the things that I love in a book by Harper Sloan. I do have to say Nate is still my favorite Hope Town hero but Shane is very close to him. Also, Nikki and Ember were sassy as hell and I love it! I literally cannot wait for the next installment (sounds so good!). So yeah, definitely recommend this one!

Overall Opinion: This was a fun, sexy, light read. It had a good bit of ex drama, but it was pretty low angst in the long run. I enjoyed it for what it was, but I wasn't really expecting anything super deep and meaningful. We do get a little deeper into the characters, but I wanted more. I also wanted a little bit more of them spending time together that wasn't just sex. Yes, the scenes were hot -- but I wanted to watch them connect more on an emotional level. Overall, an enjoyable read but not going on my favorites shelf.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Nikki and Shane's story. They have know each other for years and secretly crushed on one another for just as long since their best friends are married. Nikki is fed up with her ex showing up and trying to rekindle things, and when she finds out that Shane is facing the same situation she suggests that they pose a fake relationship to get them off their backs. She also proposes that they start a no-strings-attached sexual relationship along with the fake relationship for everyone else. The more time they spend together, the more they are unable to stop stronger feelings from developing and they fall in love. There is some ex drama, some hot sexy times, and a few funny scenes...and they get a HFN ending.

POV: This alternated between Nikki and Shane's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good. I never skimmed, and I thought it flowed well.

Instalove: No, they take a while to develop stronger feelings.

H rating: 3 stars. Shane. I liked him for the most part until their big conflict where he bugged me a bit with his lack of communication.

h rating: 3.5 stars. Nikki. I appreciated her sweetness and her loyalty.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Hot. They have some hot tension, chemistry, and scenes

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW/OM drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: No (see Trigger spoiler below).

Cheating: Not by mcs

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This had an abrupt ending with what I would call a HFN ending. I wanted more! Why not give us a bigger glimpse into their future as a healthy, happy, committed couple?!

Safety: This one is probably Safe with exception for most safety gang readers

"4,5 You Have All of Me Stars"

"Not sure I can be your fake anything, mon colibri."

This book was....

description

Everything about this book had me hot and bothered and yearning for my own Shane. I was surprised it didn't catch fire while describing those damn vivid sex scenes or those hot moves Shane and Nate did on stage. Ohhh God those moves....

description

Shane was great! I loved him and his sexy as HELL body! Those tattoos... He was a classical HS's character I might add, so obviously I would have fun reading about him. He was a possessive alpha male and I loved it when he got jealous over Nikki, with every little thing. And my favorite part he was a Dom and for some reason that surprised me, because I thought this would be a sweet book. The joke was on me but that's ok I enjoyed it immensely! I think Shane will be one of my favorite in this series, but there are a lot to come so we'll see.

"The first time I felt that hummingbird vibrate against my naked skin, you became mine, and there wasn't a fucking thing fake about it, Nicole."

description

NOW let's get to the hot stuff. Their chemistry was H.A.W.T.!!! Their kisses, their touches, even the way they looked at each other was so damn vividly hot! Their sex scenes were out of this world amazing! Shane was such a control freak in the bedroom and Nikki was so submissive to his demands it wasn't even funny...I enjoyed very much their activities between the sheets... Very entertaining for the reader.

"This time, Nicole, don't hold yourself back. When you're ready to come, I want to hear it. I want to see your thighs soaked with your come. I want my ears to fucking ring. I want your neighbors to hear you, so clear through these walls that they can't help but get off on how much you love what I do to your body. Scream, cherie. Scream loud and don't hold back."

description

Nikki was also a great heroine, She was lovely, kind, funny and needed some hot stuff to get her enjoy life even more. Lucky her, Shane was the Man for that. And he rocked her world with his moves on and off stage. I really liked Nikki because she had an asshole ex that just made her miserable and treated her like shit. But that didn't hold her back from moving on and trusting the new person in her life, which I might add is the key, when the asshole ex screwed up your trust.

...She's the kind of woman who would steel your heart, and you'd just beg her to fucking keep it.

I was so glad Shane and Nikki found what they truly deserved! They went through a lot so in the end they found HEA! I enjoyed this one and can't wait for more to come in Hope Town.

description

P.S. I liked Liberty so I hope a great book will come with one of Cage's sons!!! *Finger crossed*

Obsessed. Intoxicated. Addicted. Yup, those three words pretty much sums up my love for Harper Sloan and her books. There is just something so spellbinding and beautiful the way Harper writes a love story. She allows her readers like myself to get drunk on her words, characters, and the raw emotions she evokes. Whether there be a little drama or angst thrown into the mix, she definitely doesn’t forget the alpha male characters who makes their presence be felt throughout the book.

Drunk On You is the fourth installment of the Hope Town Series and can most definitely be read as a standalone. Do I advise it? Prolly not, since I am a huge fan of the series and you won’t be doing yourself justice in not knowing the gang of characters who have practically become like family. But if you don’t have time to read all three books, I highly recommend you to read When I’m With You so you will at least be familiar with Nate, Ember, Shane and Nikki.

3f930a7b06a277bd5a177e17129aadWhen was the last time I gave up enough of my control to allow a woman to take this much from me? Never. The answer is immediate and shocking. What is it about Nicole Clark? ”

Nikki is a second grade teacher and has been single for the past year after catching her boyfriend, Seth cheating on her. Nikki is ready to move on but it seems her ex hasn’t received the message. Seth would constantly show up and call her non-stop begging her to forgive him and take him back.

Shane is part owner of Dirty Dog, a nightclub that he co-owns with Nate Reid. Shane, too is also dealing with an ex that doesn’t seem to get the message that it’s over.

#DrunkOnYou

So when Nikki goes to Dirty Dog for a night of fun, she sees Shane performing a dance routine on the bar. Intoxicated and filled with lust, Nikki goes up to him. It is there she whispers and informs him that she is single and ready for a night of fun.

Shane has always been attracted to Nikki and so with them both being single, they both decided to act on their sexual attraction. Soon Nikki finds herself tangled in the sheets with Shane and learns of his sexual kink of control. Shane somewhat becomes her real life sexy version of Christian Grey. But I must admit, I love this dominant version of Shane. First of all, he speaks French and whispers sweet nothings in her ear. Second, he is sexy AF.

Since Nikki wants to let her ex to know that she has moved on, she and Shane both come to an agreement that they will be in a fake relationship so both their exes can see that they have moved on and take the hint to leave them alone. With the agreement of fake relationship and lots of sex, it shouldn’t be a problem right since they both agreed no one should fall in love?

3f930a7b06a277bd5a177e17129aadThe last thought I’m aware of floating through my mind is that I’ve just been ruined for any other man. I’m so royally and literally screwed now. ”

Well, it didn’t take long for the lines of their relationship to get blurred. Soon Shane found himself wanting, needing, and craving Nikki. He never expected to fall for her so fast and hard but he did. Breaking all his rules about being in fake relationship out of the window, Shane and Nikki soon find themselves in a committed and real relationship. As Nikki falls hard for Shane, what happens when doubts and old issues of trust begins to linger? Will Shane be able to let go of the hurt caused by his ex and trust that Nikki is not that kind of woman?

Shane and Nikki’s chemistry were off the charts. It was blinding energy of passion, love, and raw honesty. It screamed soul mates. Yes, Shane and Nikki were each other’s missing piece. They just fit together like no other. And so reading about their love connection was just pure bliss and perfection. Seriously, I'm still swooning and grinning like a fool!!!!

#DrunkOnYou (1)

Drunk On You was a sweet, sexy blend of passion and raw emotions. Everything about this book was intoxicating. The writing was visceral. The characters were charismatic. And as far as the story line, it was seductive, heartfelt and palpable. All in all, this book made you drunk off Harper ability to create a romance that was a burning inferno of love. And most importantly, it made me eagerly excited for Liberty’s book and which of the Cage sibling she will end up with.

Drunk on you is positively addicting.

Shane and Nicole had been acquaintances through their best friends for years. They shared a mutual attraction to each other for years but have not been able to act on it because they had been in relationships themselves. But after a year of failing miserably to make sure their crazy, stalkery, cheating exes understood that they were unequivocally over, Shane and Nicole decide help each other out by acknowledging their attraction and start a mutually beneficial fake relationship.
“I’ve never had someone make me feel intoxicated, drunk, and craving the only thing that can keep this high buzzing through my system. Desperation, for him. Any way I can get him.”

The problem is that not only is their attraction very much real, it's downright incendiary. Not to mention there’s an easiness between them which along with the incredible sensual highs the take each other on, stokes a powerful emotional relationship. But will his past experiences hold back the closed off ex-stripper from trusting and loving completely?

I've been a Harper Sloan fan from the start! Since Axle from the Corps Security series came out I've loved her over protective sexy alpha males, their adorable partners, the heartwarming bonds of family and friendship formed between each couple all recounted with skill, humor and heart.

So I was a bit put off when a douche canoe lover like myself couldn’t connect with the hero. The bigger the @-hole is, the harder he falls in complete and absolute love, right? Even though I’ve read my fair share of D/s stories, there was something about Shane though, that I wasn’t liking. Perhaps it was his use of words like obey and punishment. But you can deduce by my rating that something changed my mind and confirmed my bigger/harder theory.

The story was absolutely hooking, regardless of my previous statement, I enjoyed the developing relationship between Nikki and Shane very much. They complimented each other perfectly. Shane might be controlling in bed, but out of it Nicole handled him wonderfully. She’s hilarious and smart, she gave him cute pet names no alpha male would want and didn’t put up with his ridiculousness. Shane wisely recognized her allure and slowly let’s her see his more gently and sweet side.
“She’s the kind of woman who would steal your heart, and you’d just be her to f*cking keep it.”

I didn’t just fan myself from the sparks that flew between Shane and Nicole and the sexy Magic Mike dances, I also laughed out loud with their respective best friends and generally had a big smile throughout the story. I can’t wait to see what’s next!

Drunk on You is book #4 in the Hope Town series by Harper Sloan. Hope Town is a spin off the Corps Security series and Drunk on You is a delicious contemporary romance escape brimming with sexiness. Told from both points of view and has a happy ending.

REVIEW: 3.5-4 DRUNK STARS
"Why do I make you nervous, chèrie? Is it because you're not used to the type of man I am, or because you aren't used to the way the type of man I am makes you feel?"

I have been invested in the crew from The Corps Security Series since I originally read them and then, of course, I have followed their kids in the spinoff series: the Hope Town Books. I have loved all the stories in these two series, but this was a fun little jaunt outside of that dynamic to the best friends of Nate and Ember. I anxiously awaited this one, and it was such a good story. I needed this book BAD!!

At first, the beginning was a little shaky for me between transitions from conversation to actions/scenes, and I was slightly concerned! While I was only 5% in, it didn't grab me immediately like Harper's books always do. It wasn't reading 'deep' to me and I knew there was some power behind this love story, so that didn't sit well with me. But, I continued on because I love this crew and I knew that Harper could whip up a story that would grab my attention. And then all of the sudden, WOAH!! BAM!! Longest first 9% ever , but I think I needed a cigarette and a drink after that! Holy shite!! To put this nicely, Shane was HOT. He had a mouth on him that didn't quit. Holy cow, he is naughty in all the right ways. He made me squirm. And blush. And smile. And yeah, he was just so sigh SEXY. Holy cow. YES.

"A man like me...I would ruin you and have you begging to be ruined all over again once you'd recovered."

With some quick witted comebacks and some giggle-worthy moments, I became thoroughly engrossed in these two. This was a story of love and trust -- and the reality of the necessity of said trust in a relationship. And for someone who cannot stand FAKE relationship storylines, this one was actually done RIGHT. I don't know why, but I generally hate fake relationship storylines because they're never really written to the point of belief for me, but this one was easy once we got into the thick of the story. Throw in some seriously sexy times, mix in some jealous exes and add a dash of signature Harper-Drama, and you have a book that actually kept me quite entertained.

I feel like the actuality of the relationship, the depth of it, was what helped smooth out the book for me. I honestly couldn't get enough of Shane and Nikki together. Shane was a very strong man, but Nikki was one strong woman as well. She had a few hangups, but so did Shane. I actually liked seeing them wade through the waters of insecurity in their relationship. There was an undercurrent of reality to their problems, and I liked seeing it play out. Again, some of it was a little overplayed, but that's Harper's signature.

OMG - I need to mention this: THE sexiest thing ever was Shane speaking in French to Nikki!! Yes, please. It was such a turn on. The meaning behind it had a great backstory and I loooved it. I was bummed that the translation for his smooth and sexy quotes were AT THE END of the chapter. It made it tedious and hard to find, and by the time I got to it at the end of the chapter, I'd already forgotten the context in which it was used in. It was lost on me at that point so I was seriously bummed out. UNTIL I pulled my head out and realized there was a translation button on my kindle app. I'm ok now. Yes, that was a complete USER ERROR. Super sexy Shane can speak to me in French any day of the week!! I freaking loved it.

"His touch was as intoxicating as a drink to an alcoholic."

I love when a title makes perfect sense to the story you're reading. This title FITS this book! I loved the meaning behind it and I felt the emotion behind it. Overall, a really great book. I really love this little extended family Harper has written and I will forever follow this series. I am completely in love with it and can't wait for more. I am actually quite excited at the setup for the next story that we got to see in this book.

"I trust you. I trust you with all that I am. All I've ever needed."

Drunk on You was the fourth book in the Hope Town series by Harper Sloan.

Shane Kingston was the gorgeous ex stripper and current co-owner of the Dirty Dog Club. He was also the best friend to Nate (When I’m With You, book 3). He was guarded, controlled, brooding and uber sexy.

Nicole “Nikki” Clark was the hilarious, smart, independent, driven and beautiful best friend to Ember (When I’m With You, book 3).

Both were running from cheating exes where they had been broken up for a year, but neither ex was willing to let it go and it was now at the point of stalking. They had been secretly attracted to each other for years but with both in relationships, neither gave a second thought to it. However, once they realized the other was single and they had an off the charts chemistry, they decided they could help each other out and have some fun at the same time. They decided on a fake relationship, with benefits, until their crazy exes got the point and moved on.

Sloan took us through the relationship developments with a lot of crazy hot sex while simultaneously unraveling the layers of Shane. It was a journey of healing, awareness and relinquishing total control through trust.

Drunk On You was a quick and enjoyable read. I️ love Sloan’s trademark alpha males and feisty women. Shane and Nikki didn’t disappoint. Sloan also prepped us for the next book in the series focusing on Liberty, Shane’s sister, and one of the Cage brothers. It’s a promise for more sizzling fun and I️ can’t wait!

I liked the heroes.
Both are coming out of relationships where partners cheated them and are reluctant to get involved with new people.
The story has developed well and held my attention from start to finish.
Their interaction with the secondary characters was good and the craziness of the exes, too.
I'm a little tired of the whole BDSM thing, but didn't spoil the story.
You finish the reading with a good feeling and feeling that the characters are old friends that you're willing to meet again.

Drunk on You is part smoking hot Dom/sub story, part fake relationship romance. Shane is a former stripper who now owns a bar with his friend, Nate. Dirty Dog (the bar) is one of the  most popular bars in town and that is due partly to the hottie bartends (with Nate and Shane occasionally) dancing on the bar top! Shane feels that he can't really have a relationship because no woman would be okay with his job, even though he doesn't take his clothes off. His ex, Lacey, didn't seem to mind...but she was sleeping with another woman! Now that she realizes her mistake, she is desperate to get Shane to take her back.

Nikki is a 2nd grade teacher who just got out of a terrible relationship with a man who was somewhat verbally abusive. She caught him cheating on her and ended the relationship. Months later he has decided he wants her back and begins what can only be labeled stalking behavior. Nikki makes it clear she isn't interested but he is persistent. So, her idea to handle it? Start a fake relationship with Shane. Well, one that includes very non-fake sex.

Nikki is a study in contradictions. An adorable 2nd grade teacher by day, and a woman who sends naked pics by night. Once she decides she need to actually MOVE ON from her ex, she decides to act on her attraction to Shane. Shane makes it VERY clear that she can't fall for him and this is sex only. There is some drama from both exes but it wasn't as crazy as I expected. There is some drama between Shane and Nikki as they muck their way through whatever it is they have. I really felt for Nikki as a fellow educator in a private school. Those morality clauses are for real and its no joke. So, when you read it, know that YES that is exactly how it works. Crappy? Sure, but you agree to the clause when you take the job. The only other option is taking a public school job.

Personally, I have never been a fan of the BDSM stuff. While this book isn't excessive, it wasn't my thing. Aside from that, I enjoyed the story but I really enjoyed seeing Nate and Ember again!

I was so happy when I found out that this book was about Nikki after meeting her in the previous book she was just so freaking funny and deserved her own HEA and Shane is a HEA any red blooded female would want.

Nikki is Ember’s best friend and they have been together through everything. It’s been a year since she found her ex Seth cheating on her and he still hasn’t got the message that she never taking him back, after a night out at Nate and Shane’s club she decides that her and Shane could have a mutually beneficial arrangement seeing as he is having the same issue he is with his ex Lacey not getting the message that he is done, they embark on a fake relationship to get their ex’s out of their lives for good. But when these two come together the chemistry combusts. They have a connection that neither expected, and their relationship is anything but fake, although Shane isn’t as sure of their relationship after previous jealous outbursts and behaviour from his ex Lacey can he trust that Nikki isn’t going to become just like her. Can Nikki forgive Shane's lack of trust in her feelings and let him back in or has he blown the best thing to ever happen to him?

I really loved this book and have to say this is the hottest book in the series so far there is everything you could possibly want romance, friendship, acceptance and trust. This is on story where I was worried my Kindle might actually melt. Cannot wait for more from this series especially with the hint of a book with Shane’s sister Liberty and a Cage boy……

Somehow this got buried on my kindle, so during this wonderful world of shelter-in-place I've been rereading some of my favorite series. Shane is Nate's business partner and BFF, and Nikki is Shane's wife, Ember, bff. Nikki and Shane hookup to try to get rid of their ex's who just won't go away. This evolve and they fall in love. Shane loves to be in control and loves to redden her arse, but of course, he a guy and does something stupid that he has to apologize for.

Now there's a note at the end saying look out for Shane's sister's book and one of Cohen's brothers....but that was in 2017....where is it?

Drunk on You is the fourth in the Hope Town series, which is a spinoff of the Corps Series, and it brings us the story of Nikki and Shane. Nikki is Ember’s friend and Shane is Nate’s friend and business partner at Dirty Dawgs.

Both Nikki and Shane share an attraction, but until now both had been in relationships. Although both relationships had ended some time ago, both exes refused to leave, leading the other to believe that neither were unattached. But after one tease of a dance, the wall has been breached and these two start to give into their attraction. With rules of course. But we all know what happens when you start a no-strings, sexy-time only relationship....

The heat gets turned WAAAAAYYYYY up with DOY, as we get a little dirty talking French, some major moves and some GRAY SWEATPANTS action. Harper Sloan delivers big time with this sexy friends to lovers story. I never expected Shane’s story to have such depth and loved that Nikki was feisty as hell. Toss in the antics of Nate, and I was in LURVE.

A stellar release and my favorite of the HT series so far.

This is hundred percent a porn book, too many sex in details and forget the story. The structure is there but not so many pages to tell us Niki and Shane, we did know both because the pervious book, so if this is the first one u have u know nothing of them, u may wondering why they together, why they act like that and why they can fall into each other.

For the past two days, I read the latest of the series, both the series has been running over ten books, it's time to end it, because so many repeated lines, especially this one putting too much sex senses, I love read that, give me so much imagination but I love the story line much more.

3 "expecting more"stars. A little disappointed I didn't fall in love with this as I was expecting to. Just alittle to much Fifty Shades and Magic Mike in the storyline. A solid safe read though. Looking forward to read Liberty's story.

I was drunk on this book! I loved it! Harper Sloan really sucked me in on this one.

I loved Nikki and Shane. They had great chemistry and both very likable. What I wasn't a fan of was the insta-trust that happened in the book. There's a BDSM aspect in this book and I felt that even though they knew each other for years that sort of trust doesn't just happen. It wasn't believable to me and kinda brought me out of the book for a bit.

That being said, I did love them as a couple. Both Nikki and Shane are looking to move on from their exes but not looking for a relationship - just something fun with no strings attached. However, what they both feel for each other is just too strong.

The angst in this book is low and the laugh out loud moments we usually get from Harper Sloan (think Corps Security novels) just isn't there. Although there's one scene I particularly liked that involved Shane's business partner and friend, Nate and Nikki that I particularly loved.

Is the book worth the read? Totally! These small things don't take away from the overall book. I'd totally recommend Drunk on You to others. If you've loved the previous books in this series and Corps Security you'll enjoy this one too.

Let's start with... this book was SO worth the wait.
Sexy.
Sultry.
Love and banter so well balanced you forget you're actually reading a book.

Harper Sloan has this way of writing, that feels more like you're catching up with old friends. You instantly get wrapped and lost in her world that it seems like no time has passed. You pick up where you left off without a hitch. I also hope Ms. Sloan knows she needs to write books for everyone in Hope Town. EVERYONE. From the kids that the sexy Corps Security produced to their friends and then some. I'm greedy and need more.

I seriously loved, LOVED Drunk on You. Shane and Nikki were a hot and fun couple. I truly love Shane's alpha possessive side just as much as I loved Nikki's confidence and strength. His need to protect her and himself made their story richer.

If you haven't read this book, series, you are seriously missing out. This a book I highly recommend.

I received an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review. Review can be found on *Milky Way of Books*

While I haven't read the previous books of this series I liked how familiar all the secondary characters felt. The story centers around Nikki and Shane who through their common friends come together in a bit of explotion, along with a friends-with-benefits relationship.

Quickly though they both devolop feelings for each but their insecurities stop them from expressing themselves. The book is quite steamy with a slight touch of BDSM in it (nothing FSOG worthy I promise.)

Drunk on You (Hope Town 4) by Harper Sloan
Contemporary Romance. Standalone in a connected spin-off series.
4.25 Stars

I love Harper Sloan’s books, but my stand-out favorites are the Hope Town Series. Drunk On You may be the hottest one yet! But it’s been a long time since the last came out, and although I loved the books, my memory sucks, so I can’t say I remembered much of these particular side characters from previous books. It didn’t matter, I think this could have stood alone OK, but would be better if you at least read When I’m With You first. Nate and Ember from that book are featured very strongly in Drunk on You.

Nate and Shane own the hottest club in Atlanta. Both former strippers, the club features them and other hot guys dancing on the bar every night. Shane has been broken up with his cheating girlfriend for a year, but she wants him back, despite her being a jealous bitch when he does his job and dances for other women. Nikki is Ember’s best friend. She has been broken up with her cheating boyfriend for a year also, and he is stalking her, which can be really bad for the second grade teacher and her morality clause.

But when visiting the club one night and drooling over Shane, Nikki has an idea.
"You want to play, Nicole, make sure you understand what you're asking for."

They’ve both been attracted to each other for a long time, but never made a move because each thought the other was taken because the exes were always around. But pretending to be in a relationship might just get rid of the stalky exes for good, plus, they both know the sex would be so hot together.
“Think real hard about taking this, Nicole. If you put your number in there, you’re as good as mine for however long we decide to … handle each other. I’m not the kind of man you want to be playing games with.”

Shane has decided that women can’t deal with his job, so he refuses to even think about getting attached to someone and then have them leave him out of jealousy.
"Don't fall for me, Nikki--it will only end badly."
"Maybe you should be worried about falling for me, Shane."

Nikki was feisty and confident. She loved watching him dance, and it turned her on knowing that every woman wanted him, but she got to go home with him.

It’s been a while since I read a book with a Dominant man in it and I forgot how much I love reading about that kind of sex! Holy “Hot Hunnam on a stick” I almost combusted.
“But when I’m in the mood to play, I’m the master of your every move; you will obey me or you will be punished.”

Wait a minute…I am saying it was H-O-T!
“Don’t keep your sounds from me.” I lift my hand and smack her pussy. The wetness making the contact louder as it echoes around us.

But I never felt that full-on Dom feeling that I get from other books where usually the guy is really closed off and detached. And I liked that. I liked that he seemed real, just controlling in the bedroom.
“Just relax. It’s my job to take care of you.”

And holy sex-on-a-stick, the guy whispers french in her ear!

I got right into Drunk on You and it totally hooked me. I will say, that this one was a little more sex than emotion for me. I don’t mind that, but with the first three, I think I cried and hugged my kindle at the end. This one didn’t bring me that level of feels, but I still loved it start to finish.
“Is this when you tell me not to fall in love with you?”
“No. This is when I tell you I’m going to make you do just that.”

Sidetone- this cracked me up:
“Will you beat me like Christian?”
My head jerks back. What the fuck? “Who the fuck is Christian?”
Her cheeks flush. “From the book … well, you probably would know the movie over the book because you don’t strike me as a romance novel reader. Fifty Shades of Grey. Christian is from that series. He … uh, well … I think so at least, is like you.”
“I don’t get the reference, but no, I won’t beat you.”

Likes:

•You don’t have to remember details of earlier books.
•Sexy male dancers (I have a vivid imagination).
•HOT Dominant sex.
•Shane is all about control. And speaking french.
•I loved Nikki. She is so confident and spunky.
•Visiting with characters from earlier books.
•Very low angst.
•Great lead-in for the next in the series

Dislikes:

•The sex overpowered the emotions on this one. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some hot sex, but I didn’t get quite the depth of emotion that I usually do from Harper Sloan’s books.

The Down & Dirty:
Mmmmmm….Shane, that sexy little control freak. Not only can he dance sexier than Magic Mike, he is also a Dom in the bedroom! There are some super hot scenes in Drunk on You and I loved the feisty, confident heroine, Nikki as well. I picked this up when I couldn’t focus on reading because a hurricane was headed our way. But when I started Drunk on You, I tuned out the weather and got lost in the story. Drunk on You is the hottest in the Hope Town Series, but it may have sacrificed story for some of that heat because it didn’t quite bring out the emotions that the previous 3 in the series did.

Rating: 4.25 Stars, 5 Heat

I’ve been waiting for Drunk On You forever and I must say this book fell flat for me. There were parts of this book that I absolutely loved and parts of it that I found myself skipping through.

Nikki and Shane have had crushes on one another for what seems like forever, but have never made a move. Both have an ex that needs to be out of their lives, so when an opportunity presents itself to be in a “relationship” with one another to get rid of their exes they take it. Nothing can go wrong right? Well Shane and Nikki quickly learn that developing feelings for one another is something that they promised they wouldn’t do, but are having a hard time keeping the promise, throw in Shane’s dominant personality in the bedroom and you have an interesting story.

One thing that I really had a hard time grasping was how quickly Nikki accepted the Dom/Sub relationship in the bedroom with Shane without asking any questions. He said do this, and she was like OK! I mean, don’t get me wrong, it was HOT, but in most cases, there is a dom teaching and she would have had a lot more questions going in then what happened in this book. It seemed that she just wanted Shane and he wanted this type of relationship so she went with it. It ended up working for them and it was definitely hot, but just how it came to be just didn’t set well with me in the beginning.

There isn’t much drama in this book, and I really did enjoy Nikki and Shane when they finally figured out their relationship wasn’t fake, but all the build up to figuring it out was a little too slow for my liking. Once they finally figured it out I really enjoyed it and the drama that ensued, watching them figure everything out, getting to navigate their relationship and seeing where they went from there. Seeing how protective they were of one another, etc was beautiful, but seeing all of the terms of endearment that Nikki would use for Shane was kind of annoying, which I think was part of the story, because even Shane got annoyed with some of them.

Like I said in the beginning of this review, there were parts of this book I really enjoyed and others that just really fell flat. I truly love the Hope Town Series, so maybe I’m being harder on this book than others, or maybe it’s because this book didn’t center on any of the kids of the Corps Security characters like other books did? I’m not sure, but I will definitely be picking up Liberty’s book when it releases next year! I do see I’m in the minority with my thoughts on this book, so if you’re a lover of this series, or if you’re looking for a BDSM’ish book to read, then you should consider picking up Drunk On You by Harper Sloan today, you may feel completely different about this book than I did.

Another fake relationship turning into a real one. Nope... This story is getting old, come on, we have had enough.

***

Also, the hero was a stripper before he is with the heroine and he still dances on his bar on occasion with keeping his clothes on but there is one scene in the epilogue where he exposes his naked butt and part of his c*ck to a bar full of women with the heroine.

I wouldn't like that!
