Family First

Relocating to California, away from the publucity and negativity of the Lisa Monroe case was what both Kate and Drake needed. Spending time with her parents was so important to them both. Drake worked in the ER at UCSF hospital, five days on and five days off and finds he really enjoys the challenge. Kate found studio space and began painting again but spending time with Sophia was their primary focus. Drake also began spending time with his son Liam because his ex-wife, Maureen, had left the boy with her mother and moved to Malaysia to be with her husband, Chris. It was incomprehensible to Drake that a mother would leave a child but Maureens mother opined that her daughter was depressed and not thinking clearly. After handling a particularly gruesome case in the ER involving a young child, Drake made the decision that he would pursue joint custody of Liam once all the trial mess was over and done. The day finally comes when Drake must return to Manhattan in order to be prepped for and to testify at Lisa Monroe's trial. Fortunately the preparation pays off and Drake does well on the stand but, it becomes apparent that the notoriety he's attained as a result of the trial is not going to go away quickly. Both Drake and Kate finally acknowledged that they miss Manhattan and take steps to move back permanently. Drake convinces Kate's father to move back also for part of the year and spend the colder months in warmer climes. One other thing gets added to Drake's plate when a half brother contacts him to inform him that Drake's mother has Alzheimer's and is in the hospital with a deadly infection. Drake finds out that he has three half brothers and a half sister as well as a stepfather. After 28 years he finally sees his mother for the first time and even though she doesn't know him he finally let's go of all his negative feelings for her. While it is a sad time and she does not recognize him, he is elated that he finally has the large family that he's always wanted.

Everlasting is book 6 in the Unrestrained Series by S. E. Lund and continues the story of Drake and Kate. One should read the previous books to acquire the full story, as Everlasting cannot be read as a stand-a-lone.

Everlasting takes place where book 5 ends with Kate and Drake adjusting to life in N. California. Drake’s past seems to be following him to San Francisco as his reputation has become known, due to Lisa’s trial in NYC.

We re-visit Liam, Drake’s son who is in remission from cancer and Drake has the opportunity to have some closure with regards to his mother. As he has to testify against Laura his lifestyle comes into question. He becomes retrospective of his life as the trial approaches.

His relationship with Kate is as strong as ever and she is finding her way as a new mother.

I enjoyed the story, but felt it ended without resolutions. What happens as a result of the trial? What becomes of Drake’s relationship with Liam? I hope that the story continues in a new release to answer these questions.

book 6 in a series

This is book 6 in the series. It’s one of the few series that you need to read in order. The books pick up right were the last one ended. It’s a very good series and you could easily connect to the characters.
Overview: Drake and Kate are enjoying their time in San Francisco, but with the trial going on. Drake is having a hard time with a staff member, but he likes working the ER. Drake also meets his mom, who has dementia. Drake also finds out that he has 3 1/2 brothers and a 1/2 sister. Liam, his son is struggling since his mom, Drakes ex wife, has left him with his grandma while she is in Malaysia. Drake wants custody of him, but scared to apply while dealing with Lisa is on trail and his face is splashed all over the news nationwide. Kate is enjoying her family and her new studio.

I don't think I will ever get enough of Kate and Drake.
Just when you think these two wonderful characters can relax and live their lives something else comes up to wreak havoc.

Drake and Kate have to deal with the stress of a trial for Lisa, who tried to kill Kate. Drake trying to establish a relationship with Liam. Kate wanting to find time to work on her art while Drake works crazy hours at the hospital. Throw in some drama caused by a nursing supervisor at the hospital and Sefton turning up in San Francisco, it's enough to stress anyone out.

Can't wait to see what's next for Dr. & Mrs. Morgan.

Missing the passion of the early days of Drake and Kate

Honestly, I love Drake and Kate and was looking forward to their continuing story. There was so much repetition throughout the book. I also felt like for being soul mates , Drake and Kate were really not honest with each other about their feelings. The passion between the two was almost non existent. Lastly, this book had some great story plots, but there really was not closure to them. The reader was just left with too many questions. I hope in future Drake and Kate books, we can find the spark they started out with.

I love this series but this was kinda blah for me. Kate and Drake have so much hotness and it was missing some of that. I really did not care for how it ended. What happens with Liam? Does he get custody? What happens with his mom and new step siblings? I can see if there isn't a total wrap up on this part. Does Kate go back to school? Does Drake go back to work when they return to NY? What about Ethan? There was so much potential to show more, I hope there will be another book.

Too long

Too much repetition could have been much shorter and enjoyable. However, things were resolved and ended happily. This series needs to be over.

Forever ......

Great follow up on the Drake and Kate story. What happens with the trail of Lisa is still unresolved but on the way. Happiness with some tears and overall a great continuation of their story.
