I'm so excited about this book! The authors work in the field of sexual therapy, so they know their stuff after years of treating couples and helping them through tough times. And I loved how they included the science of what’s going on with different aspects of intimacy. For a long time, I thought I was more of a language nerd and science was just okay, but at this point in my life, I’m finding that I love scientific explanations for everyday topics that may have seemed confusing and mysterious, plus I just like learning all the cool ways God designed us. Side note: This book is written by Christians, but I believe its content will be useful for everyone.

The book addresses all sorts of issues with intimacy, but its main point is reflected by the title Enjoy! Listen up, everyone, because sex is meant for women to enjoy, and if you don’t know how to do that, this book will break it down and help you discover why. Fascinating and practical knowledge!

Though I’m a single mum now and don’t know what the future holds, I wanted to read this book to understand more – about my past, my present and whatever comes in the future. The days of being ignorant are gone for me, and the authors have helped me pinpoint things that I would do differently and how I would maintain a healthy attitude toward sex in marriage. When I read about dating and marriage, I’m looking to be prepared, which I don’t feel I was the first time around. Thank you to the Penners for their contribution to this period of healing!

My main takeaway and favorite tool from this book was their intimacy formula. It was a map of organized ideas that my husband and I had gained through mentors and counselors, but to see it laid out so simply makes it incredibly handy and easy to apply.

I’d recommend this book to newlyweds (<5yrs) or those seeking a foundational understanding of healthy sexuality between husband and wife, especially as it pertains to discovery and communication.

I was expecting more practical application on healthy exploration and technique based on the title but it seems like they reference their other book “Restoring the pleasure” many times in regard to that topic. So, those looking to learn more to practical technique for their repertoire should probably start there.

The title of this book was intriguing to say the least. I had not heard of the authors previously, but it
was endorsed by Focus on the Family, so I thought I would request a copy. It was written by a couple who have over 40 years of experience as sex therapists and educators, good information, not groundbreaking though.

The authors recently released two books targeting married couples, this one is primarily for women and it's counterpart is called The Married Guy's Guide to Great Sex. In the book, they lay the foundation for great sex- women need to figure out why we may not be enjoying ourselves in the bedroom. They encouraged me as a woman to listen to my body in certain ways: hormones, brain, body, sexual triggers and potential. They believe that intimacy takes time and intentionality, what they recommend is a formula for intimacy available at passionatecommitment.com

Two things that were thought provoking for me were assessing my current beliefs and attitude toward and about sex as well as prior to marriage. Secondly, now I am training children, there were some helpful charts and pointers on helping our children have a healthy and biblical view of human sexuality.

I'm not really sure about this book. I think it is perfect for someone who see's a relationship with their spouse as a duty rather than a pleasurable experience. Although, I do think it was well written and presented. There are many women who I believe would benefit from reading this book, provided they didn't mind the large lettering on the front of the book. Otherwise, it is interesting to read.

I did receive this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

As a newly married woman, I really enjoyed (see what I did there 😉) this book. Not only do they address sex from a biological standpoint, but a Biblical one, using scripture to emphasize their points.

The Penners clearly have a lot of experience and expertise in sex therapy so the exercises and activities they encourage couples to practice are very useful. I’d recommend this to anyone who is married!

Boken ger många värdefulla perspektiv som även jag som man tyckte var givande. Generellt sätt var den mer positiv, praktisk och livfull än The married guys to great sex. Deras appendix med övningar för gifta par och större fokus på biologi var några av sakerna som gör den lättare att rekommendera än dess "manliga motpart".

En förlovad mans perspektiv.

A short little book that could have been condensed even further into a pamphlet. Most of the information was vague. Or the authors just brought up a potential problem area and then referred you to another one of their books. There was lots of repeating and cross-over information in the chapters.

A good book that starts to undo the damage of the approach many Christians and churches have taken in regards to sex. This is a refreshing read and a good companion book to others this author has written. Well-informed, researched, and reinforced with practical advice.

Read for pre-marital counseling per our counselor. It was okay. Seems more for those who are already married and have kids?

This was a very sensitively written and easy to understand book. Written by a married couple who are sex therapists and educators, Joyce and Clifford Penner's premise is that women can enjoy sex within a marriage relationship and indeed have a right to enjoy it as well. It contains exercises throughout which are designed to help build a woman's confidence in expressing what works and doesn't work for her with her husband.

What is most impressive about this book is that when the doctors were giving guidance to help women in discovering their sexuality it was always within the marriage context. They took much of their understanding from what scripture says about how husbands and wives should behave toward each other, and that includes women being empowered to speak to their husbands about the most intimate aspect of their marriage - sex.

This book is written primarily for those women who find themselves having problems, but women who have been married for many years may find its contents very beneficial for their own intimacy. When a couple have been married for a long time it is quite easy to fall into a slump, so it’s reassuring to read a book like Enjoy: The Gift of Sexual Pleasure for Women which says that it’s not only OK to enjoy this part of your marriage but that it is essential for the woman to feel truly at one with her husband.

This is an exciting book that brings balance to the mindsets and paradigms that have affected women’s view of sex. This book brings out the woman as a critical and important partner in a couple’s sexual relationship. The wife comes out as someone who can change the bedroom climate

I would recommend that a couple purchase this one together with the married guy’s guide to sex so as to bring balance

The doctors allay fears that married women have of exploring themselves and become engaging partners in the sexual relationship from a Christian perspective. It is indeed a must buy to couple whose sexual life is getting into the doldrums
