This is one of those goofy little comics that I swear is making fun of the Pokemon universe as much as it's a tribute.

And I must say, I absolutely loved it. Was it cliche? Totally. Was it adorable? Too cute for words. Was it predictable? I have no idea how, but not at all. O.o

It was adorable, it was funny, it didn't take itself seriously whatsoever. The characters are a hoot and so over-the-top you can't help but love them.

It had some of this:

And a lot of this:

And can't forget this:

And I was all like this:

(Note: Most of the Pokemon and trainers in the above gifs do not appear at all. They were more for the gist of things).

I loved it. If you're an old school Pokemon fan like I am and grew up on this stuff, read this and read it now.

(My only question regarding this series is why "bonus stories"? It's not like this series has a plot for the bonuses to be outside of.)

I think this manga can be best described as "Pokémon for girls" and that is not something good here.
The protagonist barely even knows what Pokémon are at the beginning, is only interested in a boy that she likes (the story starts with a love potion for him), solves basically everything by being nice and cuteness (and her dress that protects her) and her Pokémon (one of them can talk, which seemingly bothers no one) are all cute Pokémon (Pikachu, Clefairy, Jigglypuff) and even other Pokémon that are more than cameos are all cute (like Wigglytuff and Tangela). Aka exactly the kind of Pokémon that someone would chose who thinks girls would only choose cute Pokémon. When a girl in this universe doesn't want to become a Pokémon trainer or only chooses cute Pokémon that is one thing but the protagonist here has so many stereotypes in her, that I doubt that this is coincidence.
And the drawing style is nothing special either. Of the presented Pokémon only Jigglypuff, Clefairy and Tangela look like their anime counterparts and they are not difficult to draw.

omg <3 I read these as a child and I think they actually formed me, now that I'm going back and rereading them. They make me feel like life is still precious.

"Best pokemon derivative I've ever read, definitely magical." Ok so being totally honest, this was actually much better than I remember it being when I was 10!
