In the middle of an alien invasion, will the bad boy berserker catch the geeky tech genius?
Computer genius Marin Mitchell is doing her part to help humanity survive the raptor invasion, working tirelessly to decrypt alien data. She spends her days working and drooling over a certain tattooed, biker berserker from Squad Three. But Marin knows the rules: geeks do not snag sexy bad boys. She spends her nights playing her favorite computer game where she is a kick-butt badass, and a match for her mysterious online fight partner, SuperSoldier3.
A member of the Squad Three berserkers, Ash Connors knows that whenever he reaches for something good, life slaps him back down. He gave up on his dreams a long time ago, and instead, focused on running his motorcycle club with his best friend. But after the alien invasion, he does what he does best, fight and take down the aliens. When cute, smart, and sweet Marin catches his eye, he tries to steer clear, but can't seem to stay away...online or in real life.
When Marin discovers information about a central alien data hub, her skills are needed to hack into the system. That means a deadly mission deep underground, right into the heart of alien territory. That throws her right into Ash's tattooed arms. As the sexy berserker fights to keep her safe, he also vows to show Marin that while she might follow the rules, he likes to break them.
Note to readers: This sci fi romance contains a lot of action (dangerous missions and deadly aliens), tough warriors (the badass berserkers of Squad Three) and a steamy romance (lots of sexy times between a sexy former biker and a smart, geeky gamer). So if you like it fast, and gritty, and sexy, this is for you!

The steam in this was off the charge. Delicious. 🔥🌶
I just couldn’t deal with their endearments. It was too corny for me. 🤭
I still love the hell out of it. The pace, the plot, the world-building is great. Simple, yet so intricate. I love the bad boy vs. geek girl. I love their dedication to keep their home safe. And I love that they don’t give up. Ever.

Four and a half Ok I'm starting my review with a little story about a shy , bookish girl who was asked out by a confident, somewhat cocky ' jack the lad'! She was convinced it was a joke , something done for a bet and didn't believe he actually could like someone as quiet and boring as her . No matter what he said for nearly two years she still didn't trust his motives and constantly pushed him away. Yet twenty seven years later we ( yep you'd guessed it! ) are still married with a family of our own. Why the long boring story you ask? Well this author got into Marin's mind set exactly! Marin is convinced that Ash couldn't really want someone like her. She truly believes that Ash would really much prefer some confident, sexy woman who struts her stuff. Leaving Ash with a quandary as things come to a head way before he's ready but he mans up like a pro ! However then he has the tricky job of not just convincing Marin that she really is the woman of his dreams but also keeping her safe because Marin holds the key to tracking down the Gizzida's plans! This series is such fun and each book just adds a little more danger and with this particular one possibly answers too. The Berserkers are wonderful and written as these big, bad and dangerous to know butch guys but each one has depths that make them truly feel like individuals. Here we see how the geeky Marin ties Ash up in knots as unfortunately she just keeps getting into deeper trouble. Ash isn't exactly what he appears as he's a guy who whilst admitting to previously been part of a biker club also had hidden dreams. Brave and confident yes but Ash is also much brighter than most give him credit for so never pigeon this bad boy biker! No spoilers but we are starting to see much more of Squad Three and I'm really liking these tough guys . For now though it's all about Ash and Marin who clearly suit each other but for this reader their romance which started off in a very naughty way just didn't quite set my kindle on fire. Expect sexy times but really it was the overall story that I think I enjoyed the most. If action, romance and adventure appeal to you then this series ( which probably is best read in order ) keeps things fresh and there are always new challenges. Most of all though after reading this book you just might want a bad boy of your own , I know I did! This voluntary take is of an advance copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
Not as good as some previous ones... I didn't feel the love here, but just a lot of lust! The heroine is supposedly naive and shy, but she doesn't shy from masturbating with the hero (she doesn't know who he is then!!!) via private chat... And the hero is obsessed with how he wants to do the heroine... he's hard all the time!!! Also, the most interesting part of the whole series, the what the aliens want to do, how they act, is sadly missing... There's no news on that front here... So, I'm sorry, but this was just 2 starts for me!
Finding love in an alien-apocalypse-survivor world is far from impossible, at least according to Anna Hackett, because all it really takes is a kind of desperation to survive, to cherish whatever you have, to live in the present and to take what you want—to the point where protagonists who wouldn’t have given each other time of the day in the ‘normal’ world actually work in this context.
More like a miniseries of novella than a full-length books, ‘Ash’, like all of Hackett’s books, is a fast read with a bit of instalove, with enough sexy times to scorch the pages and action-packed scenes that don’t let up. But I’ve missed this world of hers and ‘Ash’ is a great return to it.
Hackett tells a riveting story, as each book slowly advances the plot with a new discovery that helps flesh out this post-alien-earth, while serving as a catalyst at the same time to cement the growing relationship between the pairing in question. The geek factor is played up a fair bit in Ash/Marin’s story and it’s computer gaming that brings an unlikely pair together—a tech geek and an ex-biker who has had his own dreams dashed before the alien invasion. And while I do like the dynamics of Marin and Ash, I cringed a little at Marin losing her brains at the sight of a muscular, handsome ex-biker and becoming all awkward when she saw him.
As a novella however, Ash/Marin, like all of Hackett’s other pairings, find their HEA fast enough, given that there are bigger and more worrisome entities to care about. No time is wasted with their getting together, though a late twist in the game gives too much of a Deus Ex Machina moment for me to fully buy into it. Still, it’s a solid addition to the series as far as things go and it’s making me very curious about how Hackett will end this entire narrative arc in this universe when it finally ends.
Ash Connors was a tattooed biker bad boy, second to his bf since childhood in the Kings MC, and a college premed dropout, when the Gizida attacked Earth. Now he's a tattooed biker bad boy Berserker in Squad Three, a warrior fighting beside his bf for the future of the survivors of the alien attack. Marin Mitchell is a tech geek helping decipher the Gizida language and technology. They met when the Berserkers brought alien technology they found into the tech lab at base. Now they are partners in an online game, where she knows him only as supersoldier2. But even in virtual reality they are drawn to each other and are about to ignite. Then things get very real when Marin has to go into a Gizida data hub with the Berserkers as protection. A heavily protected data hub. This is a great addition to the Hell Squad series, one of my new Hell Squad favorites. Ash and Marin are an unlikely couple that complement each other in all the right ways, watching each other's backs in battle and setting the pages on fire off duty. I always look forward to a new release in this action packed series. Books like this one are the reason why.
Lots of fun-hot and sweaty action of all kinds. The video game element was a lot of fun! I especially liked the heroine of this story. She seems very real: smart, brave with insecurities that make sense- someone I'd want to be friends with. When she gets in danger or trouble, it's for good reason. She's the only one in the group who can really deal with the tech stuff, and when lots of the tactics end up involving cyberwarfare, you can't just have a bunch of people with bikes and rocket launchers. If you haven't read the other books in the series, read some of them first so you can get a better feel for all the secondary characters and the struggle humanity's going through.
Ash is not as crazy as Hemi but this is still a very hot read with the techie geek Marin. The ending was surprising. Now I'm really interested in Selena, the alien....
I’ve read the entire Hell Squad series so far, and pretty much loved every minute of it. But there’s something about this particular book that really, really worked for me. It took me a while to figure out exactly what made this one special.
It’s Marin, the heroine of the story. She’s a geek girl, and proud of it. She’s a valued member of Noah’s geek squad with a specialty in breaking Gizzida firewalls and hacking their tech. She’s also a girl gamer and one of the champions at the battle game that everyone in the Enclave is playing.
She knows who and what she is, and doesn’t apologize for any it, including the way she completely loses herself in a work the minute she has a new puzzle to solve, and doesn’t come up for air until the problem has been conquered.
She’s also a woman who knows how her world works, and one of the ways that the world works is that geek girls do not end up with hot bad boys. For any of us that grew up listening to Janis Ian’s incredible “At Seventeen”, Marin is a sister. She’s learned the truth that the rest of us have, that “love was meant for beauty queens” and that we aren’t among them.
Some of the heroines of some of the earlier Hell Squad books have been soldiers. While it’s fun to imagine being Claudia or Camryn, and it is fantastic to see them kick Gizzida ass, they are a couple of steps further into the fantasy of it all.
Geek girl Marin is a woman close to my heart. Claudia and Camryn read almost like Wonder Woman, where Marin is someone I could actually imagine wanting to be. It made her incredibly easy to identify with. I really wanted her to get her Happy For Now, but even more than that, I could see myself making some of her choices and also feeling many of her insecurities.
I hadn’t realized quite how much that would mean to my enjoyment of a story until I was in the thick of this one and just felt every step of her journey and loved it.
Escape Rating A-: I’m not going to do a traditional review for this one. If you even think that post-apocalyptic science fiction romance might be your jam, pick up the first book in this series, Marcus, and just dive in. Each individual story is a hot and sexy romance. And, there’s the overall arc of the series, all about the fight against the alien invaders and the need to kick them off Earth – with extreme prejudice to pay for all the death and destruction they’ve caused.
It’s a wild ride from the beginning to where we are now. And where we are now is that I think we’re seeing the light at the end of the long, dark tunnel, and I’m really hoping that it isn’t an oncoming train. It’s time for the Gizzida to go, hopefully with a stand up and cheer, kick their alien asses off our planet big scene just like the first Independence Day movie. Which the Hell Squad series will probably remind you of more than a bit.
I’ll stop squeeing now. Go forth and get ready to go to hell with the Hell Squad. Because the Gizzida devils really, really need an ass-kicking. And it’s all kinds of adventurous, sexy fun to watch the Hell Squad deliver it!
Ash is the newest entry in the Hell Squad scifi action romance series by Anna Hackett. While he isn't part of the infamous Hell Squad, he is part of the forces fighting against the aliens that have invaded the Earth.
Ash is a member of Squad 3, more commonly known as the Berserkers. They are a bunch of guys with questionable histories who go out on their motorcycles and fight the Gizzida. Ash was the member of a motorcycle club, and now he's fighting for the survival of the human race.
Marin is the tech genius on the geek squad. Her wild and crazy curls cover a genius brain who manages computers and invents all kinds of things that can help out at the Enclave. She loves to play a computer game that is very popular with the rest of the tech guys. She's been partnering up with someone called SuperSoldier3, but she has no clue who it is. What she does know is that the two of them have been getting very close as they do some dirty messaging after their missions. When she finds out that it is the uber hunky Ash, she's worried that he's only doing it to make fun of her.
This is another great addition to HS. Ash is a strong and fierce fighter who is more than willing to keep fighting for Marin, no matter if she's scared of what could happen. Marin is no less fierce and no less a fighter, even if she isn't always out in the field. When she has to go out in the field, she manages to do what she needs even if she's scared. I'm glad I read this and I'm looking forward to reading the next books in this series.
Another Berserker falls in love! I loved this one. Who knew Ash had a geeky side?
Ash and Marin were amazing characters. Ash is a protective badass who has a sweet side. I love how he slowly works up to a relationship with Marin by playing a video game with her. It was quite adorable. Marin is a tech geek who is determined to decrypt the alien cubes. She pushes Ash away at the beginning because she believes he can’t be attracted to a geek. He kept pushing until she gave them a chance.
“She might not be PrincessBadass with a carbine, but she sure as hell was PrincessBadass with a comp.”
Another thing that I loved about this book was that Marin was terrified about going out in the field but she still does it. I love that she didn’t become this badass soldier but just relied on the Berserkers to get her through. I just loved the romance between these two. It was emotional, powerful, and sweet. It was just everything I love in a relationship.
“God, I’m crazy in love with her. Every bit of her. From the wild curls and sharp mind, to her fucking pretty toes. I love every inch of her.”
Things are really heating up against the aliens and they are getting sneakier. I really can’t wait to see what they will do next. Also the ending of this book was so emotional.
I have got to bow down to an author that manages to make a tiny curly haired blonde super geek with no fighting skills to speak of, a strong take no bunk h who kicks ass in her own magnificent way. Honestly I love AH‘s Hero‘s they are always the stuff naughty dreams are made of, but she truly excels in her heroines, making her one the to Authors on my must buy list. Who I highly recommend.
Reread 2025 You know a book is good when, despite knowing there’s a guaranteed HEA, you still fear turning the next page because it’s so scary and intense. That’s exactly what this book is like. Every twist and turn is one step away from a complete tragedy. I loved it and absolutely adore Ash. He went after his Geek goddess despite a healthy dose of self-doubt, but he just didn’t let it stop him. I love him with Marin, they fit perfectly. I hope the tide in the battle against the raptors turns in favour of team humanity soon.
ASH is #14 in the Hell Squad series and moves the saga along at a fast pace with lots of action, both in battle and in the bedroom. I love the relationship between Ash and Marin. As with other characters in this series, Ash is a tough guy who could be easily pigeon-holed as just a biker bad boy but is a character with hidden depths. Marin, our leading lady, is a bit more awkward than previous heroines. She is a genius who tends to get too caught up in her work and is a little out of her comfort zone when outside her tech group. But the as a couple, they work. I think that this is one of my favorites in the series to date and, as with all of Ms. Hackett's series, it places a couple more pieces of the puzzle on the table. Love this series and if you haven't started, book 1 Marcus is free on Amazon. (What are you waiting for?)
One of my Favorite series and I have to say Anna Hackett doesn't disappoint. Ash the quiet bad boy biker that you could sit there and contemplate but, never truly figure out what this guy is really about. I thought you could not really get a better bunch of enigma guys than the hell squad but, I was wrong! The beserkers are a fascinating lot! Ms. Hackett's heroines are just as complex and interesting. She has perfected that fine line of damsel with a spine of steel in Marin. Usually, by now of book 14 of a series, I find the writing to be "mailed in" not so here! Ash was an unexpected pleasure. Looking forward to seeing what Levi is about and Tane You big quiet enigma Hmmmm....how are you gonna handle that! *wink*
This is a story that showcases Marin’s fierceness both in love and in her career. As for Ash, he knew better than anyone that anything good never stayed around. Once he had tried to take what he wanted, but if there is one thing he has learned in life, it is not to reach for things he didn’t deserve. Then there is Levi, Ash’s best friend since the age of 6-years; the man who is his brother even though they didn’t share blood. He too has his own demons. Ash and Levi are both members of Squad Three, the Berserkers and, as part of the frontline, they have been fighting the invading aliens for the past 2-years.
Marin grew up with a never satisfied mother and an oblivious father, leaving her feeling awkward in social situations. Nevertheless, Marin has a brilliant mind and loves her work, with a driving need to learn and figure out problems. Marin loves the challenge of decoding a problem, of untangling strands and working things out and testing herself. Marin has never been in love, but all her life she has dreamed of having someone who loved her for her. There is no pretense with Marin; she is smart, pretty and despite her protests, fierce in her own way. Ash wasn’t sure when his fascination with Marin started. He knew exactly what he was; a fighter, a biker, a big man with tough hands who got the job done. Once he had had a shot at a different life; the future had been wide open until it had all been taken away. Ash knew that Marin deserved more than what he could offer. The computer game, Pre-Emptive Strike, is one of the highlights of Marin’s life. Her partner is SuperSoldier3 and she has no idea which gamer geek is her mystery fight partner; she could find out but she doesn’t want to ruin the fantasy, never believing for a minute it might be Ash. A week into their gaming partnership the two start talking, sometimes for hours, and they tell each other things they have never told a soul before, until one night the situation takes an unusual turn. Just playing the game made Marin feel stress, elation and frustration; how would it feel to know it was real. Little does Marin know she will soon find out. When Marin realises that Ash is SuperSoldier3, she thinks he is just making fun of her, but he is determined to prove her wrong; he doesn’t want her to judge him by those she has dealt with in her past. Marin thinks her partner is someone off the tech team, not a Berserker. Ash has given himself away, but this wasn’t how he wanted to reveal himself. A mission to locate an alien central data hub takes Marin into the field and even though she is accompanied by Ash and Squad Three, there is danger lurking around every corner. Compromised on several occasions, Marin has to look for inward strength. While Marin gets the information she requires, she doesn’t realise that she has given the aliens an unwitting opportunity. This is quite an exceptional story and one I would have no hesitation in recommending. A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.
Ash Connors, one of the berserker, is secretly advancing n on Marin Mitchell, a tech geek of Noahs team. Ever since an encounter when he dropped alien cubes in the tech department, he feels an attraction towards Marin. And Marin feels it as well, but she knows that such two opposites, a biker and a geek, aren’t working in this world. Or maybe they are in the new world of the invasion? Convinced he is making fun of her, she tries to avoid him and focuses on her work. To spend some time and getting to know her better, Ash, is playing her favorite computer game. Together they are undefeatable and talk after the battles. Marin has no idea with whom she is partnering.
While on a mission the berserkers find a new clue and Marin might be the one to help.
This is book 14 in this series and while you can read each one as a standalone, the overall story unfolds over the books. Anna is doing a great job in introducing the characters, their relationships and the necessary background info in short sentences in order to being able to follow the whole story. But I have to say that it makes it much easier when you read the books in order.
Also, all the characters are strong, smart and still have their flaws which is key to her books. I mean, who wants to read about only perfect people? And she knows exactly how to write the warring emotions, the interactions and did I mention the action?
Our heros and their friends have to fight the Gizzida again and might be closer to get rid of them. You’ll also catch glimpses of possible new stories and couples. When you like sci-fi, strong independent characters, a lot of action and steamy scenes, then you won’t be disappointed.
Maybe it is only me thinking that the books get hotter. Ever since this one slightly darker one, I have the impression that we are seeing a broader variety of steamy scenes and I like it.
Therefore I can absolutely recommend the book, but be warned, it might be that you will be hooked.
Ash Connors, a member if Squad 3 Berserkers, has had his eye on Marin for a long time but never knew how to approach her. After all he's a badass soldier while she's a tech genius. Everything that was good in his life was eventually ripped away from him. So he's not expecting to find love in this crazy world since the invasion by the Gizzida. But he's on a new mission since revealing that his gamer name is SuperSoldier3 in Preemptive Strike. That's to prove to Marin's logical mind she is definitely his type n any further arguing is pointless.
Marin Mitchell is a member of the Geek Squad that keeps everything running in the Enclave along with providing new technical advances to help in the battle with the aliens. She's been playing Preemptive Strike, her moniker,PrincessBadass. She n her partner SuperSoldier3 have won most of their sessions. She has always wanted to ask the other geeks who was SuperSoldier but was to shy. After all she is not fashionable like other woman n is more comfortable in her jeans n baggy shirts. When she finds out that Ash is SuperSoldier3, she thinks that his squad mates "dared" him. Why? Because hot badass berserkers do not have sex with geeky tech girls.
I love reading Anna's book. She always surprises u with different plot twists along with interesting characters. Selena is another surprising character that has found herself estranged on earth after the aliens abducted her from her planet. No one knows her true nature except for her affinity to nature n plants. She says her kind don't have a concept of romantic love on her planet. Everything is intertwined. To have 2 people belong to each other is a foreign concept. I see what love does to u & I'm not sure it is a good thing. What comes next has everyone flabbergasted. As she demonstrates another part of her power. Get caught up in another episode of Anna's Hell Squad series as humans continue to do battle with the alien invaders who laid waste to planet Earth.
Fast, furious, sexy and fun, Hell Squad return with so much more Beserker action, as bad-boy biker Ash pursues the geeky, super smart Marin. This time around the alien action felt a little muted, leaving more time for lusty action, but I didn’t mind so much because it was all good fun.
Ash is, of course, so much more than his rough, tough Beserker persona. He’s pretty smart, loyal to the bone and wants Marin precisely as she is. So much about him is sexy, but especially the way he appreciates her brain. Admittedly, their romance is mostly about lust, but they do share some common ground, even if they don’t really explore it in this book. I liked Marin too, even if her super-genius geekness was practically witchcraft the way she managed to break code and hack into things without seeming to do anything at all.
Which leads me to the alien part of this book. It… well, it wasn’t as fierce and ferocious as some of the books have been of late. There is peril and danger, but the overall plot only inches forward this time rather than bounds on with convenient discoveries and strange new horrifying twists, with death-defying stunts that stretch all bounds of credibility. I didn’t mind this particularly, because it made for a nice breather, but there were moments when it just seems so easy for the humans, while the Gizzida clearly struggle to counter. Which does suggest there’s hope for the humans in the long run, but also risks becoming a little predictable.
However, on the whole, I found this fun and sexy. The romance itself isn’t particularly strong, relying more on lust than love, but since I could believe in this couple in the long run, I settled in and enjoyed the ride. It might be on the lighter side compared to the rest of the series, but I still liked it and can’t wait to read the next one.
War/military romance with accompanying danger and violent situations. I'd liked this one . It's still an opposites attract story but they're not as opposite as they think they are. Both main characters battle their insecurities and past experiences and thoughts about attraction and personalities. I appreciate that miss Hackett wrights them rounder than their stereotypical selves . I also like her reminder not all aliens are "out to get them" just as not all Humans are same either. Looking forward to where the author is going with that in future books.
The hacking scenario at the end was less believable. Then again, being the last known group of humans on Earth, Marion may have become complacent about fire walls and such. A valuable lesson learned, not all hackers are human anymore. Your Opposition is still out there listening. You have super spies and tech company leaders that I would think should be reminding you of these concepts. Even electricians know that the current goes both ways. Slopy, too slopy for a smart girl like her with so many years of experience to forget her computer training like that. Protect yourself, back it up, R.A.I.D., and if you can see them, they can probably see you with their alert systems. Knowledge is its own form of power. Yes, I know this isn't real life, but science fiction has its roots in science fact and possibilities. Otherwise, it falls into the fantasy genre with all that Dieus es Majica stuff or, is this mistake a plot point a tool in the over-all story arc? This too, remains to be seen.
Thoughts on the overall series. Will the two sides ever be able to co-exist peacfully? Righ now, the outlook is grim. Will readers have the energy to continue this series if there isn't some way for the humans and aliens to come to terms? This is book 14, how much longer can humanity last in the dark?
An enthralling story that hooks you from the first word. The outstanding plot, witty dialogue, and flirtatious innuendos wow you, breathtaking life-threatening incidents, horrific danger, gripping suspense, and action keep you turning pages and the toe-curling sensuous romance is oh so sweet. There is the heavenly happy ever after but many hurdles have to be faced before it is reached.
Marin is blonde with unkempt curls, a geek of sorts, and a curvaceous beauty; the problem is she just does not know her worth and how special she is when it comes to a man's interest in her. Bad boy Ash is tough, built with impressive tattoos; he has a past of hurt and believes he is unworthy of an intelligent woman like Marin. Ash decides to hold back his fiery desires of want for Marin until his best friend Levi shows him why he needs to go after her in a world of alien murder. When a dangerous mission of fighting off the aliens who want to destroy all humans puts Marin in horrifying danger, Ash feels a fear of losing the one woman who has stolen his heart forever.
Loved this absolutely fast paced most entertaining read with a full cast of praise-worthy characters. Ash is sought after by many women but his heart belongs to one. Convincing Marin she belongs with him takes much convincing which he is so fantastic at; adored him as a hero and his game plan to claim Marin. Marin turns from geek to sassy full of heat and is quite a force to be reckoned with; the unlikely couple is absolutely fabulous together. If you enjoy sci-fi with sexy heroes and risk-taking heroines this is a fabulous book for your library. I relished this book so much {I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy.} Without, reservations, I recommend this book.
Opposites do attract Ash Connors is a squad 3 Berserker who loves a good fight, and he is giving his all to killing the alien Gizzida. The ladies love the bad boy Berserkers, and sex-on-a-stick Ash is prime in their eyes. Before the invasion, Ash and his childhood best friend Levi ran a motorcycle club. After the invasion, Ash and Levi were the only club survivors, so they took off for the Blue Mountain Base, where they could help do what they did best: fight and cause havoc. The Berserkers are hellraisers, laughing and revving engines and blowing up stuff. These brave wild men totally enjoy fighting the alien Gizzida. Marin Mitchell is one of Enclave’s computer geeks; she’s a genius on a keyboard. Marin is a loner buried in the computer lab. About the only fun she has is role-playing in a group computer game. She…and her partner… totally rocks at the game, but lately, her partner has taken their anonymous partnership to new, sexy places. She would love to know who her sex God is. Ash wants his secret little fantasy tech girl, but he doesn’t know how much until she is put in danger while going on a mission with his team. SOOOO much is riding on what Marin can find out about the gizzada tech. She may be a geek, but she’s a mighty geek. Ash and Marin are perfect for each other. It is a beautiful love story combined with frightening life-or-death struggles. I am rereading this entire fantastic series. Linda
Loved this book, it's #14 in the series and if you haven't read the series you should start. They are great, they're action packed starting with Marcus from Hell Squad all the way to Ash from the Berserkers. We're at war with an alien race called the Gizzida and they are horrible. They only want to destroy every living being on earth and destroy the planet. The men and women at the Enclave are fighting the Gizzida and are trying to save humanity in their little part of the world. This is Ash's book and each and every book is telling us that there is something out there worth fighting for and it's love. Anna Hakcett takes horrifying situations and gives us great love stories. Ash sees a geeky techy girl, Marin and decides he wants her, but wonders if he's good enough for her. Marin is the shy type who never thought a guy like Ash, all out warrior and hero could ever see her as a sexy beautiful woman but the sparks fly when they finally decide to test each other out. The dialog between them is great and you really feel for them and the world that Anna has created. This can be a stand alone book but I would suggest you read them all, one after the other because once you start you won't be able to stop - they're that great.
Oh my goodness. Ash and Marin WORKED for me. The big, bad, tattooed former biker-turned-soldier and the sweet, geeky techie with ZERO chill in social interactions. MAN, I liked them. A lot.
What can I say except I like it when a badass has a hidden softer side. Ash is undeniably a badass, too. First off, he's a berserker. He gets prime badassery points for that alone. Throw in his past as a biker mixed with his desire to help others and he has a whole lot of layers all of a sudden.
Marin, on the other hand, is sort of entrenched in her role as part of the geeks. She absolutely can't understand how someone like Ash would want someone like her, but she's smart enough to listen when Ash tries to convince her. Figuring things out in the middle of an apocalyptic alien invasion isn't easy, but they get there. Both of them.
More about the aliens and their...well, I don't know if I'd call it a scheme or plan at this point, because details are coming to light, but we don't really know what they're planning. So, we're learning more about the Gizzida. And the things the survivors are learning could help destroy the stranglehold they have on earth. Eventually.
Ash Connors is more than a tattooed badboy biker! He harbours a healthy lust for the tech geek dealing with his team, the lovely Marin. Marin, like Elle, is a child of wealthy parents but that didn't make life any easier for her. More at home in a lab than in a society setting and she rocks as "PrincessBadass" her alter ego on the comp game the conclave use to pass time. Little does she know that her partner in the game is the one and only Ash!
Working on cubes that the beserkers had found, Marin determines that they may be able to crack the Gizzida firewall, but she is going to have to get into the field to do it. That alone is just about enough to make Ash lose control! But what will he do when an incursion into conclave territory leaves Marin in danger of getting up close and personal to the enemy!
Bad boy, smart mouth, sensitive soul and relentless tease, Ash is just superb. I loves learning all his secrets and Marin has a kickbutt side, it's just well hidden under all her geek! We get to catch up with Hell Squad and the Beserkers and poor Manu is going to have his hands full!!!
Sadly, this has been my least favorite so far. Didn't feel the love and we really don't learn anything new. As much as I love Ash and the rest of the Berserkers I just couldn't bring myself to like Merin. Normally I'm a big fan of geeky smart people, but I want them to own it, not talk a big game about it while really just being a wannabe badass. Also, she's so timid, which makes no sense given how smart she claims to be. Plus there are lots of different ways of being a badass, doesn't mean you have to charge blindly into a battle zone with no training, no plan, no nothing... She keeps harping on about how smart and genius she is, but all I see is dumb, stupid and a whole lot of hypocritical. Like the fallout from her actions, a self-proclaimed genius like her really should've seen that coming. Or how she tends to reach a verdict and then tries to make the facts fit rather than letting them speak for themselves. Leading the evidence, rather than following it. I've to admit a part of me wanted her to have to pay the price at the end. There have to be consequences for being stupid and reckless, it's only for Ash's sake that I'm glad she didnt.
Ash is one of the members of Squad Three Berserkers and he has a serious attraction to Marin one of the members of Noah's tech team. He has watched her from a distance for some time and he is finally going to do something about it. Marin is convinced Ash cannot possibly be attracted to a geek. Ash is determined to teach Marin that they are perfect for each other as he is not just a tattooed biker but has a depth of character she is unaware of and he will definitely not treat like the others who did not appreciated her worth. The aliens are getting more determined to destroy humanity and now even Marin who has never gone on a mission outside the Enclave has had to volunteer to do her part. Ash is not about to let her go into danger without him being there to ensure she will come out of this alive. The story keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering if anyone will be badly hurt or even alive at the end of this terrifying mission. Thank you to Anna Hackett for the entertaining review copy. Excellent Series. Highly Recommend.
Berserker men = extra crazy-fine! The gizzida are becoming ever more creative in their quest to conquer and assimilate all Earth’s survivors. As a heroine, super-smart, super-nerdy Marin has what it takes. She also has what it takes to draw Berserker Squad’s, Ash Connors’ interest. It is fun to watch them interact. She’s adorable, and having a hard time believing Ash’s interest in her is for real! Ash is intense and focused. Mostly on her! He’s a bit on the rough, untamed side (well, he’s a Berserker!). I love it!
OMG! The danger and the terrifying situations are truly intense. Our curly-headed nerd girl is WAY out of her comfort zone. But, she’s got a Berserker Squad covering her back. There are plenty of very close calls - be prepared! I’ll just leave you with this: “Nothing like a group of sexy, tough women to make a man’s mouth water.” Enjoy...I sure did!
Hell Squad book 14. Ash and Marin. She's a geeky genius that is more kickass than she knows. He's a badass biker alphahole turned super soldier. This invasion of aliens got everybody doing double work. They battle these raptors and now the geeky genius must come into the field to break the aliens tech. These two circle each other, while there is some serious bad juju going on. They balance each other if they could get over past issues. As the aliens get more bold and try to invade the Enclave, these two must stand together. It's like Weird Science mixed with Aliens but in a book. Dramatic, hopeful, twisty, badassery, angsty, action filled and smexiness.
