Havenwood Falls #4

Covetousness

Rate this book
Welcome to Havenwood Falls, a small town in the majestic mountains of Colorado. A town where legacies began centuries ago, bloodlines run deep, and dark secrets abound. A town where nobody is what you think, where truths pose as lies, and where myths blend with reality. A place where everyone has a story. This is only but one…

Graysin Ravenal hasn’t seen her sister in years, but when she learns Jenni has mysteriously died in a library fire, she leaves her upscale beach community for the mountains of Colorado in search of answers. She needs a job, and Havenwood Falls happens to need an interior designer for the new library. The last thing she needs, though, is to fall for the dark and sexy Everett Weston, aka her new boss.

Their undeniable mutual attraction aside, keeping their relationship professional proves impossible as their lives collide in more ways than one.

Graysin finds herself immersed in a world heavily guarded by secrets and lies—a world Everett seems to know quite well, making him her only hope in finding the answers she seeks. As they work together to unlock the mystery surrounding Jenni’s death, their ever-increasing passion must be denied, no matter what their hearts say. Because the story they’re thrown into is one of desire and danger that not only uncovers a centuries old secret that could destroy the town, but also reveals the darkness of Graysin’s family’s past—a darkness that changes her life forever. And some secrets just can’t be forgiven.

This is a New Adult paranormal romance in the Havenwood Falls series of New Adult and Adult fantasy novellas featuring a variety of supernatural creatures. The series is a collaborative effort by multiple authors. Each book is generally a stand-alone, so you can read them in any order, although some authors will be writing sequels to their own stories. Please be aware when you choose your next read. We do recommend that you read Forget You Not first as an introduction to the town and its eccentricities.

Everett Weston is one sexy character! Graysin had no idea what she was in for ! It's hard enough not only losing a member of her family. But dealing with the hurt and uncertainty of so many unanswered questions was terribly frustrating for her . My heart went out to her throughout this entire book. Not knowing who to trust sent her on an emotional roller coaster. This book totally caught me by surprise! It was intense and such a great read!!

Pretty good addition to the Havenwood Falls series. I’m really starting to love the mention of the other characters in the other novellas and loving that we can recognize the town and the shops. It’s like we can picture it all in our head and know exactly where what is and who runs which shop and who works there. Lol

I received this ARC from Red Coat Publishing and the author in exchange for an honest review.
That was a lovely treat. Elements of mystery, paranormal and romance all come together for a highly entertaining read.
The characters were quirky, full of life and interesting to follow. The protagonist was a refreshing change from the all-too-well-known special snowflake that needs a fresh start. She was witty, awkward and realistic. I cannot express how refreshing it was to read a story about a young woman, who doesn’t expect a red-carpet reception wherever she goes.
The plot was straight forward with some unexplained mysteries still surrounding the continuing story. It was easy to follow, but never boring.
The writing was great. I was impressed by the author’s style of creating dialogue that flowed so effortlessly and that created a mental picture of the scene unfolding on the page. It was fast-paced, but never filled with unnecessary details or fluff. And the intimate scene added just the right amount of heat, spice and adult excitement.
Overall, this novella was just the right amount of fun, mystery, romance and the otherworldly. A tease that makes the reader want more in just the right way. I would definitely recommend it to anyone, in the mood for a quick, sexy, mystery filled paranormal story.

I Shall Covet Thy Neighbor – the Gargoyle
Whenever a new book makes its way to my Kindle from the sassy spitfire Randi Cooley Wilson, I expect greatness. She’s set the bar high; her gargoyles are my reverse harem fantasy. =) But when I heard she was participating in the joint Havenwood Falls venture with some of my favorite authors, I was really interested in how it would work. Not an anthology, HF is instead a collection of books and novellas set in the same fictitious town full of supernatural characters (it even has a spinoff YA series called Havenwood High!). Wilson’s gargoyles are so very unique – and living in their own very developed world – I wasn’t sure what she would bring to this new project.

The answer: Everett Weston. Hot sexy, daaaaaaaaaaaamn gargoyle deliciousness.

Wilson’s novella follows intrepid Graysin Ravenal, in search of answers to her sister’s sudden and shocking death, in the festival-filled hamlet of Havenwood Falls, Colorado.

Before I go further, I now want to adopt a baby so I can name her Graysin – or convince one of my kids to add it to their future names list. Ok, aside over.

So Graysin comes to a town filled with witches and wolves, Romani (gypsies) and gargoyles. She is clearly seeking more than just the truth of Jenni’s death. Graysin is searching for her own life, in her own world. She’s outgrown her childhood home and she wants a chance to put her interior design chops to the test.

She finds challenges, friendship, mysteries and some serious lust, too.

I am absolutely stunned that Randi is able to create such a developed character arc in the short span of a novella, and yet somehow she does. Graysin feels real, and as though she is growing. From her first caffeinated disaster at Coffee Haven through to her Founder’s Day resolutions, she figures out who she is.

So, now let’s talk about Everett. A member of the Barcelona clan, I desperately love that he is so different from her other protectors. They each have such unique personalities, and he is no different with his quiet strength. He has none of Asher St. Michael’s bossy dominance, or Gage Gallagher’s dark. broody deliciousness. Instead, he is the quite constant we all want to be behind us, loving us when we don’t even know we need it or want it.

Now, let’s talk about 69%. Ladies and gents, at 69% of this book, you will find yourself squarely in one of the hottest sex scenes I have read in a while. It isn’t dirty; it isn’t gratuitous. It’s just 🔥. I asked Ms. Wilson about the numerical significance and she claims it’s a coincidence.

Mhmm.

So, what I love… it’s a fun sidestep out of the traditional protector world and into a new landscape. I love the characters – all of them – and look forward to reading more in the HF world. I love her nods to her gargoyle books, and was particularly touched by the inclusion of Camilla Gallagher’s name. I suspect there will likely be some crossover action in her upcoming release, Dark Paradise, as Everett and the Gallaghers have clearly crossed paths.

What didn’t I love… well, I want more. I am a selfish beast and I need to understand all the things. I want to know “who’s the daddy???” (read it to understand) and what’s the backstory of the Barcelona clan? What are Roman and Ada doing? Why aren’t buns standardized to fit the hot dog?

It’s just so much I need, and I know Randi can’t give it ALL to me, but maybe a little more? Maybe something in the future?

Say maybe? 😉

So should you read this? Yes. If only for 69%, friends. If only for 69%. But in truth, if this is what we have on the horizon with Havenwood Falls, I am truly excited to see what everyone brings to the center of town. I’ll be waiting with a plate and a purple pig!

I feel like Covetousness suffered from short story syndrome. The issue where it is a shorter story and there is too much story to fit into the short amount of space. Because this book could have been really interesting, I think I would have really enjoyed it because it is different from other paranormal I have read, but everything just happened too suddenly. Plus you are told all the information in this giant data dumps which would have worked better had this story been longer. If you would have drawn it out, let Graysin figure things out slowly and whatever between her and Everett happened more naturally it would have been interesting. I thought it would be more of a mystery adventure, but it is more of a here is what is happening, okay now here is our next info dump, everyone is in love, the end. Way too quick for the amount of story trying to be told.

Graysin's sister died in a mysterious fire. She hasn't seen her sister in years so when she finds out she died she is determined to figure out what happens. So she goes to the town where she had been living and...strange things start to happen and she meets Everett and two seconds later they are in love and she knows everything. The end. Really this story made me want to search out more books with the kind of paranormal creature Everett is as it is something I haven't read and think I would enjoy. Maybe I will give this author another try with one of the authors longer stories and see if I enjoy it more.

WARNING: This review may have some spoiler's in it. IF you have not read it then WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR go read it. This book is another great book by a great Author. It is a standalone book but it is also part of an amazing series Havenwood Falls. SO far I have read every book by different authors and I am loving every single book that has come out. Well this particular book is about Graysin and Everett. In the first couple of chapters I thought that Graysin was a little snobbish if you will but after that I got to liking her. By the 6 chapter I think and all of the teasing between to two and all of the sexual flirtation I was like JUMP HIM ALREDY. And then the very next chapter they jump each other. LOL. After I got to know Graysin I found that in all of her awkwardness she was actually pretty funny. Especially after she found out what was in Havenwood Falls. The comment about the Vampire was priceless. I don't want to give away too much of the book and ruin it for the ones that has now read it so I am just gonna say that I gave this book a five star rating because of the amount of laughter in here and I thought if was an amazing story as with all of the Havenwood Falls Books have been.

COVETOUSNESS is one of the books in the Havenwood Falls series. This one is written by Randi Cooley Wilson.

Graysin Ravenal is heading to Havenwood Falls for two reasons. Firstly she has a new job there, and secondly, it's the place where her sister died and she wants to know exactly what happened.

Everett Weston is Graysin's new boss, he also plays a big part in the strange goings on in Havenwood Falls. Graysin doesn't know what to make of Everett, but she does know that she is very much attracted to him.

When Graysin discovers that her sister's death isn't as straight forward as it seems she starts looking into it. Some people aren't very happy about it, and it's Everett's place to keep her safe. Her world as she knows it ends when she discovers things about not only her sister's death, but about the town itself and most importantly something about herself.

The story was a nice quick read, with some steamy scenes between our main couple. There were intrigue and suspense, and danger afoot, never a dull moment. I think perhaps that the story ended too quickly, but on the whole, I did enjoy the story.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers' copy of this book.

Received an ARC from the publisher for an honest review.

I think I need to go back and read more about Havenwood Falls.

Let me start by saying I'm impressed with how much backstory Wilson was able to get into this somewhat quick read about this town that's full of supernatural beings and mortals. While there were a few things that I was still unclear about (mostly the Roman connection and the different covens), I think that if I was more familiar with the town, it would be a little clearer.

Now to Graysin and Everett, along with a few of the other characters. I do think the author rushed things a bit and glossed over things that I would have enjoyed to see. There were a few instances where a few weeks passed and I feel like I missed out on seeing Graysin's relationships with the townsfolk (and Everett) develop.

All in all, this was a fun read with a whole world of supernatural beings that I couldn't help but want to know more about, which is the whole point of a novella, I guess. It had some romance and a sassy best friend. What more could you want?

I received an ARC and have voluntarily left a review. Covetousness is a novella by Randi Cooly Wilson and is part of the rich, mysterious Havenwood Falls Series. I have to admit that I wasn't sure about several authors writing with a cohesive vision of a complex and diverse setting like this series, but I'm blown away with each installment. Each novella is stand alone and builds one everyother story and characters. With each novella, I can't wait to read more and find out more of the hidden secrets that are so a part of this world. This Novellas focus is on Graysin Ravenal and her search for answers surrounding her sister's death in a fire. Jenni, Graysin's sister, moved to Havenwood Falls, married and broke off contact for years. Just before her death, there were some short messages, but nothing that made sense. Graysin takes a job in that very town an is determined to find out what happened. What she finds is mystery, secrets, danger...oh and a very hot boss, Everett. This was an amazing addition to the series and I can't wait for the next installment.

This is the fourth book I have read in the Havenwood Falls series. This story takes place obviously in the super-secret, mysterious town of Havenwood Falls. We are introduced to Graysin Ravenal, a young interior designer who finds her way to Havenwood Falls on a mission to find answers about her sister's death. As Graysin searches for answers to her sister's tragic death she quickly picks up on the town's unique residents. This book kept me on my toes and I didn't put it down until finished. The content was interesting - back stories were explained and made sense. Nothing about the story drug out or was rushed. There is some surprise and plenty of steamy romance. This story is wonderfully written and seemed to have a natural flow. I LOVE the author's writing style and use of words. Overall this was a GREAT read and I would love to read more from this author and find out more about the characters.

Covetousness is a novella in the Havenwood Falls world and was the first one for me in this book universe. It follows the story of Graysin Ravenal, a young woman who travels to Havenwood Falls, a town filled with all kinds of supernatural residents (unbeknownst to her), for an interior design job and to unlock the mysteries behind her sister's death. She winds up falling for her gorgeous boss who has secrets of his own, like most of the residents of this town. I felt like the author crammed in way too much for a novella and this would have worked much better as a full length novel. There were extended periods of time that the author would skip over which I felt could have informed the main characters development and motivations a bit more. Regardless, I find the concept behind this paranormal series intriguing.

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thanks to Red Coat PR.

Covetousness had a bit of a darker feel to it than the previous books in the series. From the very beginning there feels like there is a cloud over Graysin as she travels to Havenwood Falls after hearing of the death of her sister. When she arrives and things don't seem to add up.

Everett is instantly intrigued by the woman sent to help design the new library restoration. And he works with her to uncover secrets of the past, his gargoyle nature to protect and guard will be put to the test. He finds himself helping Graysin figure out what happened to her sister. I really wanted more about this - I felt like I was completely left out of some important details.

Overall, this was a fantastic book and a great look at the darker side of Havenwood Falls and some of the ancient creatures that live there. I just wish I'd had a little more completion - loose ends just weren't quite wrapped up for me. Maybe they will be in another story?

Wonderful Reading

Another great story in the Havenwood Falls collection. This was one of those stories that have intrigued and secrets blended right in to all of the pages. One Minute you think you might have everything figured out, but then boom, it wasn't what you thought at all.

This was one of those books I didn't want to put down until I was done, but alas life came first. You can feel the sadness that Graysin is feeling over the loss of her sister. When some secrets are revealed you cannot help but shed a few tears as you feel just as heart broken as our Graysin.

Come and discover more of the town's little secrets and discover if these secrets will bring our two heartbroken love birds together, or will it push them farther apart.

I love this book and can't wait for more of their story in the future.

Until Next Time... Tabi

Another amazing book from Randi Cooley Wilson, and another adventure into the world of Heavenwood Falls and the inhabitants. If you havnt had the chance to read any of the other books in the Havenwood Falls collection dont worry, each book is a stand alone read but having read them all they are amazing books and great if you love to have a comfort series for when you are between books. Covetousness will instantly have you on the edge of your seat, and Everett and Graysins tale is stemmy to say the least. If you have read Randi's Revelation series then you are in for a treat as some of you best loved names crop up................ and some new revelations. Just make sure you read this when you dont have anything to do, as you wont be able to put it down.

This is the fourth book I've read in the Havenwood Falls series. I love love love getting to hear and know more about the characters from all the other books in the series. I've always loved to read books that have connections to others; it makes everything more interesting. This book takes place in Havenwood Falls where we meet Grayson and Everett; they are two newcomers to the town for (almost) the same reason. This book had a ton of mystery and I never saw the "big" reveal coming...especially in the steamy scene! I can't wait to read more of these two and their secondary characters! I sure hope there is a second story to this novella so we can learn more about Roman and Ada's secrets and see where Graysin and Everett are.

My feelings about this book are all over the place. I love the concept and love the characters. I truly love the story but felt the author in some places jumped around and in others did too much. The plot was great and while there were issues I loved the story. It had everything you want in a good book, betrayal, passion, lies and secrets, hidden agendas and supernaturals (duh). Personally I think novellas cheat the authors of an opportunity to really flesh out a story and make us become even more invested in their characters. In this case it would have made a good story better.

I have read other books in the series and I am really loving Havenwood Falls with it's unique occupants. This is my first read by Ms Wilson but not for Ms Cook and I really want to read more. Good stuff.

As part of Kristie Cooks Review Crew I was delighted to be able to read Covetousness on pre-release.

As another novella in the collaborative Havenwood Falls series, this book introduces us to Graysin Ravenal and Everett Weston, successfully pulls us into their story, picks up characters introduced in other Havenwood tales, adds in a healthy dose of mystery, mixes in more supernatural characters and serves up a story of secrets, danger, love and loss.

I confess that I hadn't heard of Randi Cooley Wilson prior to receiving my review copy, but I enjoyed Coventousness and will certainly search out more of her work.

Randi has done it again! Covetousness was the 9th book I've read by Randi and as always, her work was AMAZING! Covetousness is a story in the Havenwood Falls series and it was by far my favorite of the series. We are introduced to Graysin and Everett and I loved every bit of the both of them! Graysin's awkwardness around Everett's sexiness is ALL of us. The story was amazing and omg that twist with Graysin?! I never saw it coming! Each time I read Randi's work, it makes me want to read all of her other books all over again (trust me-she's that good) If I could give this more that five stars, I would. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I loved This book, Randi wrote another amazing read in this fourth book of Havenwood Falls collaborative, all written by various authors. If you haven't read any of the Havenwood books you are missing out! Randi takes us to the secluded and hidden small unique town of Havenwood Falls that is full of Magic and questions. We meet Grayson and Everett where all is not as it seems. A mystery is needing to be solved and the intense heat these two create is outstanding. Not all is what it appears with these two questions are asked and secrets are revealed. You don't want to miss this book it was awesome.

Somehow I missed this little gem when it was released, but found it when going through the titles of the books released so far in this series. I downloaded it to read today while doing laundry and couldn't stop reading until it was done. I really enjoyed this story with its introduction of gargoyles. Everett and Graysin make such a good couple, but she needs to lighten up and let herself go. She needs to let go of her fears about love and just admit to herself and Everett that she's in love with him. I felt the story was fast paced and had just the right amount of intrigue. I could see a sequel in the future though it's not required.

I couldnt put this book down!! I love Randi's books and I am so glad she was able to be apart of the Havenwood fall's books! The story line was not rushed, which I feel some novella's push love or the danger and solution to quick. But Randi was able to capture to love, loss and mystery part just right. I love Graysin's character, her awkwardness saying what she is thinking or feeling and how Everett doesnt necessary laugh at her and accept her weirdness. I love how Asher and Gage was mentioned in this book and how Graysin was able to learn more about the person she is becoming!

Randi Cooley Wilson does it again! Covetousness delivers an amazing story and great characters. Randi perfectly ties in with the rest of the Havenwood Falls series and sets up for future books. (heres hoping) We are introduced to new characters (Callie just might be my favorite), especially a new sexy gargoyle. Everett is just as sexy and cocky as Gage and Asher. #damngargoyles. I love that she tied in some of our favorites from the Revelations series. Youll find Covetousness offers everything we love in a Randi Cooley Wilson book. This is a stand alone.

Randi Cooley Wilson is one of my favorite authors and what a joy it was to be able to read another world that she is a part of. The characters are fun and fleshed out. The mystery is just enough and at a great pace. She does a great job have the timeline jump so the characters have time to be together without it seeming unrealistic. I can't wait to continue with her other characters that were hinted upon. My only slight issue is the ending...without going into spoilers...it's just patched up fast but I think it being a novella it's okay to do it that way.

This is the 4th book in the series and this is definitely my favorite so far. I liked Randi Cooley's writing style, it flowed well and I liked her word choices. I would have liked more of the story line about Graysin's connection to Everett, especially toward the end. I was worried I wouldn't get enough information about the sister, but I found the storyline complete without wanting or needing to want to know more. I would recommend this to others and I can't wait to read more in the series. I did receive this ARC for an honest review.

This was an interesting story that introduced new supernatural races to me that I had no idea existed so I enjoyed that part, would have loved if the author explained them a bit better. The pacing of the book was a bit rushed toward the end, too many things explained very quickly so you are left with tons of loop holes about the story. The climax scene seemed like the author had an idea and then changed her mind so you get confused while reading it.
I would give a chance to the author if she continues the story to see how the characters develop over time

I am becoming addicted to the Havenwood Falls books, each one lets you loose yourself in a magical town full of mysteries waiting to be discovered. I wish these books were longer because I get so wrapped up in each one I feel bereft when I get to the last page.

Randi didn’t disappoint. The tension between Graysin and Everett kept me turning the pages I couldn’t wait to find out what would happen as they uncovered the truth about Graysin’s sister and what it would mean to them both. If you are looking for a fast paced quick read this book is for you

Each book in this series is a standalone title and can be read in any order. Ahhhh this novella was just so good. I just loved getting to reenter this world and meet some new characters. This book features Graysin Ravenal and Everett and I just love this couple. I was just dragged in their lives and I just couldn’t get enough of them. This was just such a quick and easy read. Loved this!!

What an amazing concept this book is a part of. The only thing about novellas is the awesome story is over way too quickly. I loved this book. It was the first of the Havenwood Falls series I've read, and I chose this book because I love reading work by Randi Cooley Wilson. I'll definitely be reading more from this series and it'll be great to read stories by authors I've not heard of as well as ones I love.
