The title Beauty's Daddy should make it pretty clear as to why I chose this book. I was looking for something hot and heavy into the DDlg world and this sounded like just what I needed. I did enjoy it and I'm glad I found a new author for this genre but it didn't exactly meet my expectations.

For a full length novel everything still ended up feeling very rushed and I lost that connection between Sawyer and Annabelle. They moved very fast to Sawyer demanding that she call him "Daddy" and it seemed a little forced and not as part of the story.

I found the heat to be a pretty good level though, even if I did wish for more at time, but it worked with the story. It wasn't overly sexy like I thought it might be yet I liked those little hints of heat that we got that always grabbed my attention. I'll definitely be looking for more to come from this series and I would recommend it for anyone looking to get into this genre.

3/5 "Maybe I should teach you to mind your mouth by filling it with my cock." ayyyyy

TROPES:
~beauty & the beast retelling
~enemies to lovers
~age gap
~slow burn
~forced proximity
~grumpy/sunshine

"There's one thing you need to know, little girl. While you're here, you'll do what Daddy says."

Annabelle is having a bad day. She accidentally bumps into a huge, hulking man on her way to work, and then later, there's a car accident involving her mom who has dementia and the same man. That man, her enemy, slowly turns into being her Daddy.

I wanted to punch him, hurt him, kiss him, and fuck him. God. How I wanted to fuck him.

It was a wild, sexy ride. Overall, I enjoyed it! Here's a run-down of my likes and dislikes!

WHAT I LOVED:
~the sexual chemistry between Annabelle and Sawyer is chef's kiss.
~she isn't a shy little girl, she's bratty & sassy af
~she's self conscious of her weight, but he proves to her that she's beautiful just the way she is.
~there were some twists & turns that I wasn't expecting!
~he thinks she's "adorable" a LOT. He never voices his opinion, but he thinks it a lot which is cute!!
~there was a BC talk, which was shocking and not something I see a lot in romance books!

WHAT I HATED:
~ Sawyer thinks/talks about his dead fiancee quite a few times- how much he loved her, missed the way she "submitted" to him, etc.
~ "honey". That nickname...
~ I never read slow burns but I was intrigued by this one. The sexual chemistry between the h and H is incredible throughout the book, and it leads to (at 78!!!%) sex finally starting... and ending in the same PARAGRAPH. That was my biggest dislike of the book.

SAFETY:
Ages: 20h, 32H
Virgin/celibate: virgin heroine, celibate for years hero
OM/OW drama: none
Cheating/sharing: none
Triggers: death of fiancee (off-page, but talked about frequently), car wreck (nobody dies)
Kinks: daddy, spanking (with and without belt), praise, lots of "good girls"
HEA?: yes!

Did i read in one sitting a twisted tale of beauty and the beast with some daddy kink yes yes i did.. and it wasn't bad pretty fast pace...

Annabelle has been having a rough time.. her mother is well trouble and ends up in a car crash with cold, angry Sawyer.. she met him already when she accidently spilled something on his suit.. and well he is a beast. He makes a deal with Annabelle he won't let her pay a dime  back to him if she agrees to be his wife for 1 month.. total control, obey and his... she agrees.. the sexual tension between the two was good.. he was a beast that temper when she would sass him.. and it was quick when she started calling him daddy 🔥

Some twist and turns alittle push and pull between the two andddd drama from "Gavin" who wants Annabelle for his wife..

Shall I read the other fairy tale books.. maybe..

No ow drama slight om drama, no cheating, slighty tiny secondary charas, sexy times,
Drama-ish, virgin gal and celebite guy

Recommend- yes if you enjoy d-kink

"Beauty and the Beast" meets Daddy Kink... I know what I was expecting when I started this book. Sawyer and Annabelle's story was kinda sweet and "vanilla" compared to other books I've read by Jane Henry. It was just ok.

This is the first book in the series but I read it after reading the second one, they both are complete standalone, so u can read in any order.
The beginning of the book was good but then things started getting weird. H is an arrogant, stoic, billionaire who people belives is on house arrest for the murder of his fiance. h on the other hand is poor, doing a job at a cafe, has a mother who has dementia, and is just trying to meet ends. So it makes sense that when she gets an offer to pretend to be H's wife for a month for 10 times her salary, she grabs it. but H clearly said that she would only have to pretend, that would have separate beds and blah blah, he also asked for her to obey him and the punishment for not obeying which he failed to mention would be spanking, and when she later when finds out she enjoys it rather than protesting, which is ok if you are into it but there was no basis to it for me. Also, u don't see the connection building between them, and at the end of one week, they are madly in love with each other. seriously.
so in short not my kinda book.

5 SCINTILLATING DADDY SAWYER STARS!!

Jane Henry enchants with BEAUTY'S DADDY, an deliciously erotic retelling of the Beauty and the Beast fairytale! I was immediately swept up into this sweet and delightfully sultry story and fell instantly in love with wide-eyed innocent Annabelle Symphony, who is in dire need of a helping hand, and the big, Beastly Sawyer Gryffin who tempts her with a brazen proposition she cannot possibly turn down.

As the town public enemy #1, accused of a heinous crime, the filthy rich Sawyer has been living in misery in his self imposed prison in his cold, lonely mansion overlooking the rocky cliffs. He is a dark, broody, tortured soul, tormented by the past, and when a mishap with her mentally unwell mother puts Annabelle at his mercy he strikes up a bargain with the beleaguered Beauty.

Sawyer needs a doting fake fiancée to help clean up his dastardly rep and the hefty sum he offers in exchange for the ruse will keep her financially strapped family afloat for a long time to come. As part of their arrangement, Annabelle will live with the stern, surly-tempered Mr. Gryffin for a set amount of time and she will want for nothing but the one caveat is she MUST obey his every command!!! Little does she know that before this deal is through he will mold the achingly innocent virgin into his obedient little girl and make all her wildest dreams come true! But can Beauty ever truly tame this beast?

Sighhh...I loved EVERY MOMENT of this alluring Beauty and the Beast tale! Daddy Sawyer stole my heart, fueled my every wickedly wanton fantasy and had me aching to submit!!! BEAUTY'S DADDY is so sweet and infectiously charming it made my toes curl, and the chemistry between Annabelle and Sawyer was off the charts hot and gave me yummy tingles throughout. Ms. Henry's clever nods to the classic fairytale were brilliantly woven into the story while still offering a fresh twist that's guaranteed to titillate.

This book is in my opinion her finest work to date and ticks off everything on my naughty wish list...breathtaking romance, sparkling banter, searing emotion, exquisite tenderness, scorching interludes, panty melting hot spanky times and a plethora of swoon-worthy moments to set your heart all aflutter!

The author did a masterful job of showcasing how the sweet, bubbly Annabelle brightens the dark corners of Sawyer's desolate world and helps her big, growly beast heal from the past. And in turn he lavishes her with tenderness and nurturing and love, helps lift the heavy burden she has been carrying all alone for so long, and opens her eyes to a world of infinite possibilities!

Ultimately, BEAUTY'S DADDY is a MUST READ for fans who love their fairytales served with a sprinkle of sweetness and a hefty dash of naughty!

The daddy/girl theme was an interesting one. From all the romance books I’ve read, I think this is the first with that fetish, which is kind of surprising, come to think of it. So, props to Henry for thinking outside the box on that one. What I didn’t like was how repetitive it all was. I think the fem MC is a brat, a person who gets into trouble on purpose so they can get a reaction out of their Dom, which was fun because that too is something I haven’t come across in books before, but she was constantly getting into “trouble” with the male MC. She’d talk back, he’d ask her if she needed to be “taught a lesson”, she’d sass some more, he’d tell her to “come here” and crook his finger at her (nearly every fricking time), she’d go, get spanked, have an orgasm, which isn’t too bad a punishment if you ask me, then they’d resume what they were doing just to have everything repeat again like 10 minutes later as if the previous “lesson” hadn’t friggen happened! I would figure, as with actual children, if you really want to “train” a sub/girl the punishments should escalate (or at least be actual punishments) if the “bad behavior” continues. They didn’t. It was a spanking and an orgasm. Every. Single. Time. The imagination in the bedroom was lacking which was super disappointing because the author showed they were imaginative by picking such a theme. So much potential.

I also thought some of the things the fem MC got scolded for doing were kinda minor. Like wanting him to rest after he got stabbed. That’s a legit concern whether you’re in the lifestyle 24/7 or not. She may not have phrased it as he would have liked, but the affection and worry for his health was there. I feel like he should have acknowledged her thoughts and gently redirected her, that would have gone a long way in building actual intimacy between the characters, versus his actual reaction (which got very repetitive as well)- “anger” and a immediate reprimand. I didn’t like how much the male MC’s “anger” was mentioned. It must have happened over a 100 times. Maybe 50, if I’m being less dramatic, but it felt like over a 100x he was constantly “feeling his anger rise” “trying to control it” and failing. I don’t think he was really angry, I think he just overreacted all the time. There was no heat behind his words, even though he was yelling or throwing shit. So I’m not really sure why the author called it “anger”. I also wanted to know why the male MC was so “angry” all the time. This book has tenuous roots in “Beauty and the Beast” and we know the male MC in that story was “angry” because he felt unworthy, ugly, ashamed, and lonely. So his reactions made sense. There is no such clear source of this male MC’s temper. Yeah, his wife killed herself and his social life went to shit after that, but he said he had a temper before her. Why?

The echos of “Beauty and the Beast” were a little forced at times. Like him throwing all those precious things around his room in the “west wing” when he caught her snooping. He had kept them all that time even though his wife had been gone for over a decade, they must have meant something, why didn’t he freak out when he saw he had destroyed them, or react at all? The MCs also regularly called the male MC “a beast” not because he was an athlete, or because of his sexual prowess, but just…because. I don’t know why that was a thing. He was hairy, and humongously tall, and had a “temper” (which no one but his staff would have seen because he didn’t go out into the town) but that’s it. The Gaston look-alike was forced too. In the movie, Gaston is just so narcissistic he can’t imagine anyone wouldn’t be attracted to him and when he’s snubbed by Belle who shows feelings for “the Beast” he turns vicious and tries to exact his jealous revenge on both Belle and the Beast. It’s a friggen great story because though he doesn’t talk (or sing) all that much relative to the MCs, his actions broadcast his thoughts and emotions so loudly you can’t misinterpret them. The “Gaston” in this book was not well fleshed out. He is flat, no personality. Why does he want the fem MC so badly? It’s never discussed. And the attempt to bring the old story into the future by setting up “Gaston” as a reporter who uses social media to whip the community into a frenzy was an interesting idea, that wasn’t solid enough for me. We were told that the community still thought the male MC was guilty of his wife’s murder, but we never directly saw their hatred, it was only through secondary means like people talking about it or their hate letters. I needed more about how many people thought he was guilty and why. There’s always gonna be ornery people who are just looking for a hate wagon to jump onto in every town, but to have an entire city’s worth? It would make more sense if the dead fiancé was loved in the town or he was, but just a rando woman “murdered” by a rando man? Eh. People will always talk, but hate? Just how quickly the “abduction” story blew up, the fem MC had been with the male MC a friggen week, to where it was literally everywhere was hard to swallow.

The “pretend to be my dead wife to save my reputation” plot point was weak sauce and wasn’t necessary. It seemed like the book forgot that thread regularly because it wasn’t brought up often after the fem MC was in the house. Honestly it didn’t make much sense. Maybe I missed something, but I’m pretty sure the fem MC said she had grown up in that town (she went to school with the police officer that documented her mom’s accident in the beginning) so why in the hell would it make sense to claim that for the last 10 flipping years she’s been married to the male MC and in isolation? As soon as everyone saw her face on the news they would have recognized her as a local and known she wasn’t married. That was a huuggeee plot hole.

I wasn’t convinced by the MC’s “love” for each other, damn now I’m being repetitive. It seems like there is a common thread in a lot of more sex-inclusive romance books where if the MCs bone in any capacity, they have to be in love by the end of the book, no matter how tenuous the emotional relationship. Not about it. These two hardly talked about anything real, there was a moment when the male MC showed me what hope felt like when he said they could spend the next few days chillin with each other and getting to know one another better, but nothing came of it but sex, sex, and more sex. The male MC is in love with the fem MC’s ass and the fem MC is in love with the sensation of the male MC’s hand on her ass. That’s it. And did I forget to mention it’s been A WEEK? Too fast for them to form a deep and lasting affection/knowledge of and for each other when nearly all of their conversations have ended with “Yes Daddy”. There was a real opportunity, as a minority fetish in the romance world, to show readers the depth of Daddy/girl relationships. It’s not just about the sex, it’s about the trust, it’s about the learning and teaching that goes on between partners, it’s about the affection and joy the relationship gives the participants as is so with every stable, extended consensual, sexual relationship. This book was missing that entirely, and it was disappointing.

I FEEL LIKE I STEPPED OUT OF REALITY AND RIGHT INTO THE PAGES OF A FAIRY TALE

I enjoyed this modern day Beauty and the Beast fairy tale of the common girl, Annabelle Symphony and the billionaire beastly of a man, Sawyer Gryffin. The story is full of mystery, suspense, accusations, mistrust, secrets, and passion.

Annabelle’s life changed with the death of her father when she was fourteen. Her mother couldn’t cope, Annabelle had to become an adult early, giving up a chance for college and take care of her mother who now has dementia and help raise her sister, who is now in college. Working a dead end job waiting tables at a local diner just to pay the bills and care for her family will bring her in contact, literally, with Sawyer Gryffin.

Sawyer is a recluse billionaire with a haunting past hanging over his head. The questionable death of his fiancée, Samantha, had him acquitted at trial but still found guilty by the media and locals. Coming into town is rare, and the one day he comes for a meeting, a girl runs into him, spilling his coffee on him, and then a crazy woman runs a light and hits his car. The Symphony women are out to get him.

The plot will have Annabelle pleading for mercy with Sawyer, and he will give her an ultimatum that she will live at his home and obey him for one full month. He will pay her ten times her normal pay, but she must remain with him. Sawyer needs to present himself in a positive light to the media for his international business and comes up with a plan that will include Annabelle. Is she an innocent who has made her way into his lair? “She was only a pawn, after all. Only an innocent bystander.”

Is Sawyer plan to punish Annabelle for what has happened to him in town? The story will have plenty of angst between them, she has agreed to obey, and he plans on holding her accountable. Making her call him Daddy and telling her she needs his control.

“Daddy—It was so wrong—It was so hot—Taboo—Sinful—Delicious.”

“Maybe the good girl thing was so overrated.”

“He was a full-grown man, bearer of terrible secrets, so filthy rich he wanted for nothing. Larger than life. He was arrogant and angry and had a temper that scared me, sometimes. But he could be sweet, and kind, and gentle. My big beastly, gentle giant of a man.”

Maybe, just maybe, these two people need each other differently. She can save him from himself, and he can free her from her burdens. When they are faced with a crisis, will it pull them apart or bring them closer together? Together the dichotomy of their relationship may just lead to a fairy-tale ending of happily ever after.

“I would not be the beast to her. I would be what she needed—her lover, her caretaker, the one who met her every need.”

This was the first erotic retelling of a fairy tale I've read (my favorite fairy tale, at that), but now I need to go find some more; or, I'll just wait until Jane Henry writes more as she's one of my few automatic one-click authors. Jane Henry captures you with the first sentence and keeps your attention until the very last. I never want her books to end, but sadly, they must, and they do. This book was no exception.

Annabelle is a kind and caring, poor, down on her luck, intelligent girl who had a promising future come to a crashing halt. Now, putting her own dreams and future plans on hold in order to work to support her mother and younger sister, who is in college, she's miserable as a waitress. A series of fortuitous events, however, lead her a future she would have never guessed, let alone dreamed of; one that she's completing deserving of. Sawyer is a man who is haunted by his past. In a self-imposed exile as punishment for a traumatic event that was no fault of his own yet one he blamed himself for, he's the definition of a broken man. Quick to anger, I can see how he's the 'beast' in this tale.

Told from a dual POV, this book was one that kept me turning the page, soaking it up. I was so engrossed in the story that I didn't even realize that there were only 2 sex scenes, and not very detailed ones at that. Trust me, that's not something I usually miss, as that's one of the reasons I read erotic romances. To be honest, I probably didn't notice because the domestic discipline scenes had my phone screen on FIRE! Whew! I would bend over for Sawyer in a heartbeat (it doesn't hurt that I pictured Dwayne Johnson as Sawyer while reading the book). Also, I'm not usually into the Daddy Dom/little girl dynamic, but boy oh boy was it arousing. Though I'd expect nothing less from Jane Henry. :-)

There was mild BDSM in the book, spanking galore (hallelujah), and an alpha male I'd absolutely love to take a bite out of. Yum! My only complaint about the book, and the reason I took off a star is because the ending felt rushed and then rather abrupt. Perhaps that's what the publisher wanted, or Ms. Henry was under a deadline, but either way, I would have preferred that the ending be extended a little. Believe me, though, that's not a reason to pass over this book! I received an ARC and also purchased my own copy, so I recommend it! Don't miss out!

Jane Henry has become an auto buy for me whenever her books come out. This is a take on Beauty and the Beast and I have to say it's one of the best versions I've read of this classic tale. Sawyer and Annabelle are perfect for each other and their story is HOT. It has all the things I like in a story, struggles, attraction to each other, and sexiness all around. Do yourself a favor and pick this book up, you will love it!

I really loved this book. I love it when the leading male is falsely accused of something or made out to be a monster when he isnt. Sawyer was that man in this book. He was ruthless and could spank the back talk out of Annabelle. This book had me entranced from the very beginning. I will absolutely read more from this author. LOVED. *audiobook obsession reviewer*

Beauty and the Beast retelling doesn’t get old for me. I enjoy reading all kinds of books, and Jane Henry’s “Beauty’s Daddy” is the daddy-shmink version that I didn’t know I needed to read. Sawyer convinces Annabelle to pretend to be his temporary wife for compensation. Annabelle agrees because it will help with the care of her mother, who has dementia. While she is with Sawyer, they live together in his mansion, where Sawyer has locked himself away as a punishment to himself, which he hides from Annabelle. All the while, the townspeople believe horrible rumors that are spun up about him, Annabelle, and her family.

I liked Jane Henry’s version of the fairy tale. It was sweet, with some steam, and it had a nice twist.

I've read many books but this one came very close to the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale theme. It was just like the original book but happened in modern times with technology and all. I'd recommend this book to all the beauty and beast fans. The audio book version was awesome. Both narrators were amazing especially the male narrator with all the gruff and growl in his voice. they did justice to the book.

I'm always on board for a Beauty and the Beast retelling/reimagining, so when I saw this one, I had to pick it up on Audible. I had high hopes for this book since I also enjoy a daddy vibe romance, but sadly, it just didn't work for me. I was left with too many questions regarding the secret club, the roles of the brothers, and their father. I also had trouble connecting with Annabelle's character in the later part of the book. This could be a me issue and this book may be perfect for another reader.

The narration by Gunnar Qualen was amazing and I could listen to him all day long, but Jenna St. Claire just didn't seem the right fit for Annabelle's character, in my opinion.

Modern Beauty and the Beast retelling with a younger girl and older man with Daddy kink.
I enjoyed Annabelle and Sawyer's story. When Annabelle's mom who suffers from dementia totals Sawyer's car, he proposes she pretend to be his wife in exchange for not prosecuting her mom. Even though he lives alone and has been accused of murdering his fiancee, she agrees.

Once she is living with him the story picks up. The daddy kink is full on, so if that is not your kink, this is not the book for you. I enjoyed their sexy times, his over protective alpahness and the development of their relationship.

Annabelle Symphony is having a very bad day! She's late for work. It's pouring rain. As she races around the corner in a mad dash, she crashes into a gorgeous hulk of a man, spilling his coffee down the front of his expensive, hand-made suit. He's beyond furious! Even though Annabelle apologizes profusely, offers to have his suit cleaned, the man's temper flares out of control. After dismissing her like a child, Annabelle's livid herself. What a total jerk! The man's insufferable! But she has to get to work and does her best to forget the incident. Just as she settles into her work day, she hears the unmistakable sounds of a car crash outside the diner. As she tears into the street, her heart stops! She recognizes the beat-up Buick mashed into the other car. It's her mom's. Panic stricken, Annabelle doesn't even notice the other driver. Her mom, in the early stages of dementia, isn't supposed to be driving. How had she even gotten the car keys? Worse still, what is this going to do to her family? They have no money. They're barely making ends meet. Then the impossible happens. The other driver is none other than Mr. Gorgeous Hulk himself, Sawyer Gryffin, the town's most infamous and richest man, the very same man Annabelle nearly ran over earlier. His anger at her ruining his suit is nothing compared to his current fury. Confrontation at the hospital following the accident brings changes to both Annabelle's and Sawyer's lives that neither ever saw coming. An unlikely proposition is made and accepted. But does Annabelle truly know anything about Sawyer Gryffin? Can she trust him to keep his word? Are the rumors true? Has she made a deal with the devil himself? As for Sawyer, he's in the deepest of pain. He's never forgiven himself for the past. Can he live up to the promises he's made to Annabelle? Does he even want to? What will this do to his carefully constructed world? The agreement they've reached has the potential to destroy him in ways he never thought possible. He's lived with unspeakable pain and bitterness for over a decade. Can he live with what's right in front of him? Outside forces want to take both Annabelle and Sawyer down. As danger and conspiracy loom, destruction appears inevitable. Sawyer and his business are at risk. Annabelle and her reputation are on the line as well. There's the very real possibility that Annabelle's family will be torn apart forever. What can be done to stop the forces threatening everyone near to both Sawyer and Annabelle? Is there any way to prevent the loss of everything either one holds dear? Or will the past repeat itself? Will death once again reign supreme, or is there a way to stop the cycle of loss and pain?

Jane Henry's writing is phenomenal! She has taken the iconic fairy tale of Beauty and the Beast and transformed it into a spectacular work of fiction that is totally enthralling and riveting. This is the first book in a new series for Ms. Henry, and it's an amazing beginning. It's delicious, dark, inviting, and very erotic. The combination of action, adventure, good, evil, and erotic romance is so well-crafted and enchanting in its detail and creativity. This is a bit of a departure from the other books I've read by Ms. Henry but it works so very well. I'm beyond impressed! I couldn't put my Kindle down. I give Beauty's Daddy my highest recommendation without reservation. Thank you, Jane Henry, for a unique, imaginative, and thoroughly captivating reading experience. This book is extraordinary!

Sawyer Gryffin (32 y), Annabelle Symphony (20 y)

Y = an

Samantha McGovern (ex de Sawyer, morte)
Melody (petit soeur de Annabelle)
Gavin (journaliste, harceleur de Annabelle)

___________

Il me veut.

« Tu as bien dit Monsieur Gryffin ? »

« Fais juste attention, Annabelle.

Jane Henry's story is definitely a Beauty and the Beast story, but don't read this story if you aren't an adult or don't like spankings, dominant daddies, or twisted tales. This story is definitely all of the above, and so, so good.

Annabelle is just living her life, trying to keep a roof over her family's heads, keep her sister in school, and take care of her mother. Sawyer is the reclusive billionaire who no one ever sees, and who hides away in his house. He was accused of murdering his fiancee years ago, and for his penance, he has locked himself away in a house full of dark memories. When they collide, quite literally, sparks fly.

First, Annabelle runs into him, which ends up with Sawyer's clothes being coffee stained, then Annabelle's mother runs into his car and completely wrecks it. Sawyer tells Annabelle that she needs to come to his house to meet with him to talk about a repayment plan, says he'll send a car to her house, and to not be late. Annabelle doesn't like his attitude, so keeps the driver waiting, which doesn't please Sawyer all that much. Sawyer makes her an offer that would make full reparations for the damage her family caused. She needs to stay at his house and pretend to be his wife for a month, starting right then. He's trying to boost his image, and having a wife would help with that. The story would be that she is as reclusive as he is, but they are granting some interviews.

So, does it work? Are they able to play off being husband and wife? Will Annabelle end up over Sawyer's knee or will she end up driving him nuts? Is the answer to all my questions all of the above? I'm not telling, just go read it and see.

It's a great story, with plenty of plot to go along with all the sex, which is always nice. Annabelle stays true to herself the whole time, feisty, stubborn, and loyal. She doesn't let Sawyer or his expectations change who she is inside like you sometimes see in stories. It's a good, solid story, with a good, solid HEA for everyone involved. I definitely recommend this book to just about everyone.

I received an ARC of this wonderful book, you received my honest and voluntary review. What you do with it is up to you.

I read this book through the night. I could not put it down. What a storyline!! This is a fairytale brought into modern times. The word beast is redefined, and I certainly want a "beast" of my own now! The little hints of the original fairytale are like Easter eggs, just waiting to be found. Jane Henry's writing captivates her reader and creates an escape into the world of Beauty's Daddy. I cannot wait for the rest of this series!

Sawyer, a successful businessman, is shuned by the town because they believe he has killed his fiancee. He has lived as a recluse for years. The one day he decides to venture into town, Annabelle cannot seem to get out of his way. A deal is struck for her to pay the debt to him and the story unfolds. Annabelle is an independent young woman and taking orders from anyone is very difficult for her. Sawyer growls orders as he learns to love the sassy Annabelle. Annabelle learns to love the beast in Sawyer. Who would not? Wealthy, tall, dark, handsome and muscular are all what makes Sawyer so attractive. Protective, romantic and dominant are what make Sawyer so lovable. Annabelle may not be a princess, but she is a very lucky girl!

Gunner Qualen and Jenna St. Claire narrate this stost beautifully. Mr. Qualen is able to bring out the beast and the best of Sawyer. All of Sawyer's struggles and triumphs are strongly felt through Mr. Qualen' s passionate narration. Annabelle is sweet, yet strong and Ms. St. Claire narrates her perfectly. The narration enhanced the story experience and brought life to the book.

I love fairy tale retellings. Unfortunately, the writing of this one was less-than-stellar, to put it mildly, with countless unfinished actions and scene-shifts and a jumbled, nonsensical timeline. The plot was off to a good start, but was later too much 'tamed' for my taste, especially considering the premise, and too rushed towards the conclusion, and, therefore, fell flat.

I can't resist any book that have to deal with fairy tales. The sole reason I wanted to read this book because it was supposed to be the retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Came in excited and came out disappointed. This wasn't for me, the story didn't progress as much as I would like. It was a struggle to finish.
