Rate this book
Sometimes the best thing to happen is for best laid plans to fall apart...

Socialite Isabelle Rochester's life has been planned out for her since she was a child: marry well and live a life of luxury as one of Ottawa's elite. Her fiancé has other plans. Humiliated after being jilted, Isabelle turns to Miss Hazel Hughes to find her a husband who will make everyone back home jealous -- especially her unfaithful ex.

Dermot Strickland only intends to be a Mountie for five years, then he's hightailing back to Vancouver to take over his father's booming lumber empire. But life in the Yukon can be cold and lonely, and he still has more than three years to go, so on a whim he agrees to marry a woman he's never met.

When Isabelle's train pulls into the town of Moose Lick, she wonders if she's made a mistake. When she sees the tiny cabin she's expected to live in -- and clean -- she knows she has. She just has to survive for a week until the train to Ottawa passes through again. Not even Dermot's rugged good looks or charming personality could make her change her mind, but that doesn't stop him from trying. After all, when a man finds the the perfect woman, he'll do anything to keep her.

Isabelle's life and marriage has been planned all her life and when she gets a letter from her finance' she is humiliated as he married someone beneath them all. Miss Hazel comes to the rescue and ask her to come along to marry a mountie.

Dermot is from rich parents as well but his parents were very loving and nor proud. He had most people believing he only cared about himself. What does he need with a wife.

When she arrives she sees Dermot as a tall nice looking man until they arrive at his cabin and she is shocked she should have listened to Miss Hazel and all the other girls. He expected her to clean it and they fight the first night can these two work on their relationship or will Isabelle leave on the next train out?

Another great story in this series and seeing these two people grow and learn what life is really like an how love blooms is a nice treat. There are some funny moments which make the reader like the characters more and more.

I WANTED AN ADVENTURE, AND THIS WAS AN ADVENTURE

The stories are the creation of talented multi-authors and each focus on Miss Hazel Hughes, a self-appointed matchmaker and the mail-order brides she locates for single members of the Royal Northwest Mounted Police. Each story in this series will read as a standalone. Whether you have read any of the other stories, you will be able to follow along. If you read, Bride for Nolan, we met Tilly in that story, and she will often be mentioned in this one, as Tilly had worked for Isabelle’s family.

Socialite Isabelle Rochester will face embarrassment when her fiancée that her parents have arranged marriage to elopes with a barmaid. The humiliation will have Isabelle turning to Miss Hazel Hughes, an appointed matchmaker for finding brides for Mounties in the Yukon.

Dermot Strickland has looks, clout, and comes from a wealthy family. His father has made his fortune in lumber, and Dermot just assumes it will one day all go to him. What a shock when his father gives him an ultimatum, either become a Mountie for five years or be disinherited. Finding a bride wasn’t in his plans, but living the bachelor life has its downside too.

The plot will have Isabelle, along with three other brides arriving in Moose Lick to meet their grooms. While Miss Hazel did her best to prepare them for the area, the conditions, and how to cook, Isabelle doesn’t take the information to heart. What a shock to see the little one room building that is to be her home. What? No maid, cook, housekeepers?

“Lady, I’m a Mountie. This may surprise you, but my superior officers really don’t care how much my father is worth.”

“He’d thought he was getting a dutiful wife who would could and clean for him, but he’d received a pampered socialite who barely knew how to use a can opener.”

“They were two peas in a pod, birds of a feather, cut from the same cloth.”

The marriage is on shaky ground from the moment they arrive home. She is ready to leave and run back home, and he is at his wit's end as to what to do. Can they find happiness and future, or should they have this marriage annulled?

Isabelle will learn many lessons in life that aren't taught in finishing schools. How to hunt and prepare game, to chop wood, to cook and clean. But will she and Dermot be happy together?

“I feel like I’m doing more than surviving. For the first time in my life, I feel like I am living.”

“Mounties are heroes, but I want to be your hero.”

A wonderful story that brings two people, both raised in luxury, and wealth, yet without a happy home life or love. Can love be found in the Yukon between Dermot and Isabelle? Their adventure is a lesson in what is truly important, it isn’t things or social status, but the people in our lives who make the difference. This is a clean historical, with strong moral values.

A heartwarming and intriguing romance!

Bride for Dermot is a well-written and unique story. The story line is fresh and moves along at a steady pace while being engaging, appealing and attention grabbing. This story hooked me from the very start and I could not put it down. The characters are easy to connect with and well developed. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and liked that the author didn’t make the relationship easy. The characters had to learn to live with each other, to love, and that money/status doesn’t decide what the heart wants.
Cassie Hayes knows how to create a story with enough romance and action to keep the reader entertained and fascinated. This is another brilliant book from a remarkably talented author.

Cassie Hayes is one of my go-to authors. She writes incredible stories that will not leave me disappointed. Even though this is part of a series, each book can be read as a stand-alone. I can’t wait to read more in this series. If you are looking for a top-notch romance then I recommend any book from Cassie Hayes. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a heartwarming and sweet romance with the happy-ending we come to expect.

E-Reader Romance

Socialite Isabelle Rochester of Ottawa asks Miss Hazel Hughes to find a husband for her.  Miss Hazel matches women to become a wife to a RNWMP Mountie in the Yukon.

Five including Isabelle travel by train to Moose Lick train depot. They'll meet the Mountie they are to marry the same day.

His name is Dermot Strickland and he's the most handsome standing on the train platform.

After they are married she leaves with him on a horse drawn wagon filled what she was allowed to bring.  It took 3 hours to arrive at what he called home.  A one room cabin, which had so much clutter & dirt she was horrified. They had quite an argument that first night.  It had one bed, table, chair & a pot belly stove to heat the cabin & cook on.

His territory included the Kaska tribe, part the Crow indians and anyone else who lived there.

She found out his father knew hers & both rich families.  She told him he needed to fire his maid!  She thinks she better leave on the next train and go home.  But that's a week away.

There is so much more that happens and many characters.  You need read this book to find out if there will be love or did she leave him.

Isabelle Rochester is a socialite who has been raised to be a proper wife to a wealthy gentleman, is scandalized by her betrothed. Not believing in love, she runs to the wilds of the Yukon for another chance at a prearranged marriage.
Dermot Strickland has his own reasons for becoming a Mountie, but the one thing he's lacking is someone to come home to. The last thing he expects is a wife who expects to be living in style and riches. Together they must decide if this marriage is going to work out for either of them, while discovering who they really are.
Usually I can't stand the snobby girls who expect to be waited on hand and foot, but when Isabelle decides to learn how to survive, she captured my heart. I love her stubborn, sassy ways. Dermot is a rogue the first night, but understandably so. As he comes out of his shell and lets Isabelle in his heart, it's a wonderful journey to watch them grow as individuals, even with the threat of the marriage possible not lasting. This was a great book, and another wonderful addition to the Mail Order Mounties series!

Isabelle has been embarrassed by her so called fiance. And her uptight snobby parents want nothing more than to place her within another loveless marriage. But she has other plans. She is going to marry herself a Mountie. But to do that she must become a mail order bride. And nothing is quite so terrifying as venturing from the life she has always known into the unknown.

Dermot is lonely. And out in the Yukon there really is no other way to get a wide other than a mail order bride. But will she be beautiful and all that he expects? He's used to having the pick of women so how can he possibly take on a mail order bride?

As these two meet and butt heads about everything, one thing is for sure. Neither one was ready for the other. But as time and patience win out over frustrations and fears, they start to forge a relationship that just may have a chance. But when the past comes calling for Isabelle will she make the choice for what she has always known or follow her heart??

Isabelle has decided to marry a Mountie to escape the embarrassment of being dumped at the altar. She wants to start a new life and adventure and Ms. Hazel could help her achieve both. She just wasn't prepared for what awaited her.

Dermot only plans to be a Mountie for 5 years then he is returning to take over his father's business. He decided to get a married because he was lonely and it seemed like a good idea.

I enjoyed this story because each person learned something about themselves. They were both hung up on society's expectations from their previous lives. I liked how their relationship developed and how they began to see each other for their true selves.

I received a copy from the author to read and review. This is my own opinion of this book.

Dermot and Isabella. Two disheartened people from Societies elite. Dermot comes to the far reaches of the Yukon as a Mountie, Isabella as a disillusioned Lady. Their clashing starts the moment she sees where they are to live. Dermot is a little bit unaware of how life will be when he arrives in Moose Lick and makes the best of things learning about his new life and responsibilities. Isabella is totally unprepared for this way of life and lets training by Miss Hazel go right past her. Soon she adapts and learns a few things about survival.
They both are in need of sharing their pasts with one another and until that happens, they won't truly gel as a couple.
A tumutulous journey awaits them. Could not put this book down!
I received an advanced copy of this book for review.

Isabelle Rochester grew up in a well to do family but wasn't really surrounded by love. When the suitor her parents set her up to marry stands her up at the altar and marries a bar maid she decides to take her fate into her own hands and become a mail order bride. Dermot Strickland comes from a well to do family but his wild ways cause his father to issue an ultimatum to join the Mounties for 5 years or be cut off. Dermot finds himself in the Yukon and while he loves his job there he is lonely and desiring companionship. I found this to be a short, sweet, historical read with wonderful characters.

I am really enjoying this series. This one was my favorite one yet. I love the mail order bride theme - and I love that this book is two people trying to find themselves. The characters are well written and well developed. The story line is sweet and light hearted. I laughed and smiled throughout the entire story. You will love reading Dermot and Isabelle's story.

Bride for Dermot

Bride for Dermot is a mail order bride sweet historical romance. I enjoyed reading Dermot’s and Isabelle’s story. They both grew up with wealth and end up in the Yukon for different reasons. The Yukon teaches them som valuable lessons. My take away from the story is you don’t have to be who your parents or other people expect you to be. Be yourself, there you find true happiness and love.

Finding your true self

Isabelle and Dermot are two people who had it all. High society, money and looks. Through a series of events Isabelle joins Dermot as his mail order bride. Cassie Hayes touches so many areas of their lives. This tender story of finding their true self beneath the layers of falsehoods they had been led to believe was fact. I really enjoyed the friendships between Dermot and Kelu but especially between Isabelle and Janey. The epilogue was beautiful.

I laughed a lot reading this book. Isabel is a proper lady and socialite in Ottawa but her fiance up and married a barmaid totally humiliating her. So she came to Miss Hazel and asked to me sent to marry a Mountie. Miss Hazel told her she would have to take classes on wifely duties and she said fine but didnt believe and didnt pay attention. Dermot was to be her husband in the Yukon. She arrives with 6 trunks and he has a one room shack. He also came from a wealthy family so doesn't know how to cook, clean or do laundry. The disasters that happen are funny and sad at times. Good read.

No longer a debutante

Isabelle has rich parents and is rejected by her chosen rich fiance. She decides to marry a Mountie to survive the embarrassment. She's spoiled and thought her new husband would have a big house and staff in the Yukon. Instead he has a one room dirty cabin and expects her to cook and clean. After a bumpy start they begin to find their way. This is a clean romance.

I enjoyed meeting Isabella who we get introduced to in Rose's story. The fact that Isabella wants to turn around to her society life as soon as stepping off the train is a believable reaction. I think if she had wanted to stay the story would have lost believability. Dermont is a good match for her, in that he knows the life she is accustomed too. I enjoyed watching Isabella grow up in ways that her previous life style didn't allow her too and Dermont's fight to keep her in his life.

Delightful insightful reading

I enjoyed watching two rich and selfish people learn about real life. So wish our politicians could have that experience. It had delightful twists and turns, fun humor. I enjoy intrigue but I like a light read. This is good for anyone to enjoy and just feel good.

Excellent Sweet Heartwarming book

I very much enjoyed reading this book, which had great characters and storyline. The characters were well developed. Loved the attachment the women had for an infant fox. I am sure I will read this book again in the future. Strongly recommend it as a clean sweet romance.

I loved this story. It is really good and shows how when times rise up against you, you can either accept it or take charge and learn to do things for yourself and others.
Very inspirational and has lots of twists and turns and when all seems lost, love prevails.
I highly recommend this story and all of the RNWMP stories. This is a really wonderful series.

Dermont and Isabelle

I love how the character development is enhanced by this couples likeminded ways. Enjoyed to see how Clara not only made it into this story, but how her involvement drew the Mountie and his bride to each other. Kept me reading right to the end. I would strongly recommend this author and any book she has written. Thanks for a great read!

Nice Series!

This is the third book in the Moose Lick part of this series, eighth overall. Isabelle has been raised to be a wealthy lady. Dermot was also raised in a wealthy home, and very spoiled because of it. They each find their place in the Yukon territory helping an Indian tribe. It was a very enjoyable story.

Warm and humorous true reality of struggling to survive in the wilderness when you barely have any skill at living and are spoiled. Hearts reach out and find the way to over come whatever comes there way.

I just adore these Mounties and the women they love! Isabelle had a real change of heart once she joined Dermot, and came to value not only herself, but others as well. They both finally experienced the delight of true beauty, and found that beauty within each other. Loved the epilogue too!

Ms. Hazel does it again. Another bumpy road turned smooth sailing. Dermot and Isabelle are basically two spoiled socialites who learn through trial and tribulation that there's more to a successful union than money and possessions.
