Well, it’s a new year, but I’m up to old tricks. You know, just reading books and offering my thoughts. Same ole, same ole. What’s the first book on the docket for the new year? Well, it’s from an author you’ve heard me gush about (for good reason of course): B.C. Burgess. It’s the penultimate book in the Mystic Series, Annihilation.
Annihilation, the latest installment in the Mystic Series picks up after its predecessor, Devotion. Layla & Quin have returned, and with them their lovely family, their menacing enemies, and of course, their…wait for it…epic love! Okay, I’m sorry, but these characters hold a special place in my heart, and have ever since I first met them. I’m not sure why I’m so attached to these characters, but the depth of each character, even side characters is so realistic and the relationships and the dynamics of said relationships are so believable that these characters feel like they could be real. If you know, if weren’t for the magic.
Speaking of magic, once L & Q make it to the magical city of Maganthia, things become that much more magical, pun intended. In a city that is protected by magic, and exclusively occupied by magicians, having a literal angel like Layla visit, brings with it an expected amount of fanfare, drama and epic-ness. Watching Layla grow more badass with every chapter is something to behold, and seeing constant displays of power, loyalty, and trust only works to make these that much more endearing.
Drama, magical action and emotional rollercoasters. What more can you ask for in a magical epic romance story? I honestly don’t know how this series will end, but I hope it ends happily. I don’t have that much faith that it will, considering the revelations made and how things ended in this one… Here’s to hoping I’m wrong when the final book comes out later this year.

I honestly do not know how BC Burgess does it.
How the hell can she write a story that truly grabs you emotionally and rips you apart?
A fantasy story at that?? She's not normal, that has to be it!
In this next to last installment, you are truly torn apart!! Layla and Quin's emotions are felt on every damn page!
Trials and tribulations are vast and furious....as is Layla and you witness that on a few occassions.
Waiting almost another year for the last book is going to keep everyone on their toes, that's for sure!

L&Q’s journey is one I never want to end!
Layla has grown so much since book one, it’s wonderful to see her wear her confidence. This couples love tugs at your heart strings, while you root for them and their family to succeed. If you haven’t immersed yourself in this beautiful world of magic and love, then you should set aside some time; because it will be awhile before you want to come up for air!

Ohmygosh
Bonnie, you didn't, really but you did..........and I have no tears left, you wrung me out, ugly cried my way through the first half, and then you leave us with this and a year to go. All those bad scenarios after devotion just multiplied in my head. More nightmares about how you are going to end the series. And Bonnie just got to say love you and the magic.

Throughout this series I've laughed, cried and fallen in love with some truly amazing characters. I'm so excited to see how this ends but also very sad to say goodbye to Q and L. This series has everything! Magic, romance, an epic heroine, action, drama.
It's a series I've re read time and time again because I love it that much!

Emotion Explosion, Mysteries and Magical Action!
WOW, I wasn’t sure my heart could take reading Annihilation! There is deep sadness as we approach the final battle to save the world. How do you say goodbye to family knowing you might not survive, but must succeed to save them? We see Layla in a new light as she demonstrates her inner strength while Quin struggles which gives the book emotion we rarely experience. The book switches to adventure and action with the mystery of who else is on the side of evil and may betray them. The end was a twist I was not expecting and I have no idea how everything will be resolved in the last book Ascension (the title scares me though)!

I fell hard in love with these books after the first few chapters. The characters, values, story lines of all 8 books is so amazing and you feel everything the author wants you to. I swear I’m a part of the coven! I’m trying to name my next born Quinn. I have read all 8 books about 25 times and I’m currently on 26 waiting for number 9. I have never loved a series more in my life!!!!

I have followed and loved the Mystic Series from the beginning, and book 8 is no exception. The magic, drama, action, thrill, love, family, loyalty, and suspense has captured me again and again!

I can’t say enough good things about this series! Annihilation made me feel so many different emotions. I am so excited for the next and last book in the series.
