U.K. Crush: The Complete Anthology

Rate this book
“Wait, are you the interpreter? Not the, um, assistant or student intern or something? Are you joking?” You know how you applied for a job as an interpreter for a movie company filming a movie in Japan, and wound up getting pitched, head-first, into life with one of the most popular and successful bands in the world? Yeah, neither did Aileen, but somehow that’s what’s happened to her. The always youthful looking and very naive Aileen is in for the shock of her life when she winds up being interpreter for UK Crush, who are filming a documentary in Japan. She meets (and falls for, to a greater or lesser degree) the four members of the band, lava-hotties all, though one guy in particular captures her heart very early on. The next seven years bring tumult, great joy, agony and sorrow as Aileen, or Tink, as she’s known to the guys, seamlessly and irrevocably binds her life to that of the band and its members. From Japan to New York City to the Maldives to London, she does her best to live her crazy life. To love the guys and be loved by them is a great gift, and not one she’d ever give up, even though sometimes it seems like she might have to. I was born in Japan, raised in central California, and am now lucky enough to live in New York City. I've wanted to write for so long, and decided to celebrate my birthday by finally doing it! Anyone, everyone who wants to, DO IT. Write what you love, what makes you happy, otherwise what's the point? There's nothing like getting a tearful text from an advance copy beta reader asking, "Why?? Why did you do that to her?!" Being a substitute teacher for fifteen years gave me some good ideas for what today's younger readers would enjoy, and I hope you do :o)

What a series, oh my days.
The amount tears I have shed due to the events captured within the pages of these books can undoubtedly be compared to the continuity of rushing water in Niagra Falls - it happens VERY rarely that I cry whilst reading a book.
Tani is such a gifted writer, and it daily blows my mind that she isn't the most well-known Young Adults fiction author in the world.
These are 100% the best books I have read in a very long time.
They're phenomenal, as is the author, who is the KINDEST, LOVELIEST person you could have a conversation with.
Exceptional, extraordinary, remarkable, outstanding, amazing, heart-wrenching, astounding, stunning, staggering, tear-jerking, marvellous, magnificent, wonderful, unforgettable, sensational, breathtaking, unputdownable are just a few words to describe these seven brilliant books.
They now have a very large nestling place within the 'Library' section of my heart.
These several books are all written beautifully too, nurtured until they have the ultimate amount of every emotion imaginable, not too much of one and not too little of another.

-Tani, thank you for spending your time writing these gorgeous books and leaving them out here for teens and young adults to find and become obsessed with; it truly means a lot that there are these orbs of light tucked away within the world of literature/

Phenomenal

I finally took the courage to buy the book that has always been at the back of my mind and I was not disappointed it was a roller coaster from laughing to crying to being utterly happy and sad it was everything you want in a book in my opinion. I was not disappointed Tani this was wonderful. Tinker bell and the boys are so strong and I’m so glad I got to read their story. Buy the book people !!

This is a book about Aileen, a college student who fate smiled at when she was asked to interpret for actors in Japan who were to film a movie. Unbeknownst to her, and fortunately, they weren't just actors, but a famous boyband group of four ridiculously handsome boys known as the UK CRUSH.

Having to be by herself in the most part of the 22 years of her life, Aileen is particularly a conservative, shy and private girl.
On the contrary, the boys were exposed to fame at an early age, which makes them very open with their feelings towards each other and the way they relate to others.

Theodore Shelley the British guy, Gethin Wren, the guy from Wales, Ronan Donohue the Irish guy, and Matthew Campbell the Scottish fast became friends with their translator, Aileen.
For Tinker Bell, as they nicknamed her, it took a little getting used to.

With time, they became inseparable, and what started off as a cordial relationship grew to a love story.
One of the boys was bitten by the love bug, and the romance between the two leaves a reader smiling and breathless too!

The boys soon became men due to the love for this new member of the group, the tests and trying times which they overcame. It changed their lives so much that it also had positive effect on their music.

Those who'd enjoy this book are those who like boybands, vocabularies, movies, music and funny words like "absofuckinlutely".....which is my favourite. Lols.

Also, it is a fairy tale romance, with detailed sex scenes that keeps you in a constant state of horny alert! Lols.

Several swoon worthy scenes and rib cracking moments, thanks to Ronan, as well as heart wrenching parts.....it's an all in one book.

The author gave it her all....very detailed, with no gaps in between. A very big thank you for this beautiful piece 😍 .

I loved this book so much that I stopped seeing them as characters but as actual living persons, and I'm going to miss our time together 😘 .

Through this book, I've learned never to give up because of a bad chapter in my life and to believe that each day brings me closer to my happy day ❣.

One of my favorite series

I absolutely love this series!!! I've read it three times and I will continue to re read this series for years to come. The last book is my favorite though. I'd like to know what happens with the other guys from UK Crush though.

I tried so hard but it just never happened

So, I dislike giving low star ratings but it was so very hard to enjoy the book. I tried so hard to like it but it just wasn't my cup of tea.

The characters were likeable enough but after getting to 18% of the complete anthology, my brain was pretty much fried. The characters, males and the female, seemed to all do is CRY. I love me some emotional read but come on... The MFC cried at everything. The male characters who were "rock stars", cried at everything. Even things that weren't anywhere close to needing to shed some tears.

I couldn't find any kind of enjoyment even though I found the storyline to be interesting because of all the CRYING, pretty much in every paragraph. That also includes the immature dialogue between the characters. I get the MFC is all innocent and pure but really? She's supposed to be smart and talented but comes off more like a ditz. I didn't even care about the editing needs because all the crying over shadowed it. Yeah, this authors style of writing just doesn't do it for me.

Good read but....

I enjoyed reading U.K. Crush but, I wish the author could rein in her tendency to describe a scene or a situation to death. I frequently found myself putting the book down or skimming a section when the descriptions became tedious. Having said the worst first, I now want to say what a fascinating story. The behind the rocker facade aspect of the story was riveting and Theo and Tinker Bell's story was both heartbreaking and triumphant. I am glad I pushed through the slower parts because the series is definitely worth the effort. Ms. Hands is a gifted storyteller and I will gladly be reading more of her work.

The whole U.K Crush Series was great stories. At first 3 books, i really not a fan of the people inside. However, when i read book 4 until 7. To be honest, author killing me. The books really play with my emotion. There's laughing, heartbroken, anger, sadness etc. Sometimes need to hold the breath for few second to not crying while reading, to not get the emotion take over but most of the time i failed. That's how i really into the book. Thank you to author for the great books. Wish you all the best for another books.

I tried, but this just isn't for me -- I will say a lot may have to do with my age; although, I usually like YA books. However, as the mom of 4 girls, I would say there were a lot of things in this book that really require caution. You don't just take a job far away and not know whom you are working for....etc.

Just wasn't for me. Sorry.

Solid

I don't know of a teen girl who would not absolutely love these books. Perfectly set up for a spin off for the rest of the boys. Some strong language, and serious topic matter, but the sex was incredibly mild.

This is a decent YA series that I think I'd have enjoyed back when I was in fact a YA. It was emotional without being too angsty, and I liked the characters for the most part. I did skim through some of the parts that just bogged down a little, but I never felt the desire to just give up on it.

The only thing I can say about these books is that they are exceptionally written by an exceptional author. They are a bit tear jerking and at the same time funny as a result of the characters. This book is a must read.

Pure perfection

One of the first series' of Tani Hanes that I came across.
Tani clearly did her research for these stories, the plot itself is brilliant, well written, beautiful and harrowing all in one.
The varying colloquialisms of the different nationalities were spot on, location descriptions were perfect. Its the little things like these that really make a story come alive.

This series provides the ultimate wish fulfillment for anyone who has ever been in love with a boy band. Over the seven books, we get to experience the journey of Tinker Bell Foster as she navigates all the triumphs and challenges life has given her since joining mega-band UK Crush as their interpreter. An entire world is created with these stories, one where both the greatest love and tragedy exist, complete with larger than life personalities of both the protagonist and the band members Theo, Gethin, Ronan, and Matthew. These stories ooze rich descriptions of culture, what life may be like for musicians, and swoony romance. They're the perfect escape.

Lovely and rereadable

I feel like the highest compliment you can pay a book or series is to reread it, and few series are as lovely, charming, or rereadable as the UK Crush series, or any of Tani Hanes books. The characters, like the books, are delightful and leave you wishing that people in the real world were more compassionate, kind, and caring like the main characters of this series. Through difficulties, miscommunications, and outright horror and tragedy the best aspect of this series, the love between the characters, binds them together and gets them through. This is my third reread of this series, and won't be the last.
