Star light, star bright, the first star I see tonight… A childhood chant turns near deadly for Lily Locke when she’s swept into The Faction’s latest triumph—the overthrowing of the hidden, magical city of Wishery. When Ainsley and her team at MAGIC, Inc. beg Lily for her help, she agrees, taking on a load of problems that pile up faster than she can say Abracadabra. A new revolution in black magic stumps the island’s burgeoning Mixologist, while a haunted house, a surprise birthday party, and rising familial troubles back on The Isle compete for her already-limited time and attention. Lily’s barely hanging on by a thread, juggling life, love, and the pursuit of magic, when islanders start disappearing—one at a time. When a man warns her the next disappearance is imminent, Lily must crack the curse…before she’s next. I wish I may, I wish I might…have the wish I wish tonight. ** ** Long Isle Iced Tea is the fourth book in The Magic & Mixology Mystery Series. Though it can be read as a standalone, it's best read in series order. For additional news, updates, and information, please sign up for my newsletter at ginalamanna . This novel is a full-length, humorous cozy mystery featuring a splash of magic, a handful of witches, and a dash of romance. It's rated PG-13 due to mild language and some romance.
Originally from St. Paul, Minnesota, Gina LaManna has also called Italy and Los Angeles home. After studying numbers and equations in college, she realized multiple choice tests were “just not for her” and began writing books instead. She loves cappuccino foam and whipped cream and would subsist solely on sprinkles if possible. She currently lives in St. Paul with her wonderful husband and family.
Long Isle Iced Tea truly took me on a journey. To a world that I couldn't ever imagine myself. I was able experience a magical world that I honestly transported to and it was mind blowing.
Long Isle Iced Tea was filled with twists and turns only to spit you and then suck you right back in with a desire to live in this story forever. I am in desperate need of the next book.
"It seemed everyone wanted my help, yet nobody wanted to listen."
Lily faced lots of trials in this story, from personal issues with Zin and Lily, tribulations with The Core and her relationship with X. On top of all of that she had islanders seeking her help for seemingly endless problem. Not to mention the looming threat from The Faction and Lily's father.
Gina LaManna slayed Long Isle Iced Tea! I was sucked so far in that I had tears trickling and fear coursing through my veins. I was terrified multiple time throughout this story. I was also filled with wonder and awe at this world she created, the depth and magnitude were brilliant.
Even if you have never picked up a paranormal or magical read, this series is a must read!
Mixologist Lily Locke is working on a special project for her cousin Poppy's birthday. She is making a transformation spell called Long Isle Iced Tea for all the guests to take at the party. The spell makes the person appear in the costume of what they want to be most, and the antidote will remove it when the party is over. Right now the antidote needs a little tweaking, but the costume aspect is splendid.
Meanwhile there are signs of impending doom. Lily fears that her father is about to appear in her life and she wants nothing to do with him or the Faction. An innocent wish on a star changes things in her life and gives her knowledge that she will need to face the Faction.
Life on the Isle for Lily and Ranger X is wonderful. They are in love and enjoying time together. When her cousins have issues, people start disappearing, and her life is stressed, the mixologist does what she must do-she puts the others first and rides to the rescue!
I hesitate to say any more because you A.) wouldn't believe me and B.) I would spoil your pleasure in discovering all this story has for it's readers. So let me tell you this instead. The very talented author has once again given us a magical story that is over way too soon. The characters, the descriptions of the locations, the danger, the love all combine to bring you the 4th book of a fantastic series. You won't want to miss this one!!! AND if you haven't read the others (WHY NOT?) start at the beginning with Hex on the Beach and read the series in order. You will be wanting to go to Minnesota and look for the Isle and join Lily before long! I want to go next week!
Intrigue, mystery, adventure and magic all wrapped up in one amazing story.
Gina Lamanna has a wonderful way with words and Long Isle Iced Tea hit every mark for me.
Lily Locke, Ranger X, Zin, Poppy, Gus, Hettie and the rest of the Islanders are all back for more mayhem and magic with a few new potions from our favourite mixologist and this story comes with loads of bangs, surprises and Pop.
Lily is certainly fitting into her life on the Island well and she is an awesome mixologist, she is even getting more comfortable with Ranger X and their love...lol
Book 4 in this series was just fantastic there were enough lot twists to keep me gripping the pages and I just couldn't put it down.
Lily is back in another fun installment of the Magic in Mixology Series. Lots of fun, laughs, and romance kept me turning the pages. Can’t wait for more!
I think this will be my favorite series of Gina’s, can’t wait for the next book! But of the 3 series I am reading of hers I know I will probably read them all, I love her stories!
always a fun read, Gina’s books are pure entertainment for a rainy afternoon. They are a lot like eating chocolate. Sweet and too short. So curl up with a caffeine cup and enjoy.
4.5 stars for the whole series ⭐️This is a review for the WHOLE 8 book series. I did the audiobooks. In my opinion this was a perfect audiobook read.
My rating is based on MY ENJOYMENT of this series not necessarily because it was the best series or books I have ever read. It just hit the spot for me.
🌟Brief Summary: ‼️Such a fun and delightful series! Gah I loved it. ♥️SAFE! ‼️Closed door romance ‼️Cozy Magical world ‼️Building storyline w each book ‼️Great Audiobook ‼️Likeable characters ‼️Sweet and swoon Romance ‼️Quick short books that are jam packed
‼️This series follows Lily when she finds out she isnt human but a witch with magical powers. She is THE Mixologist. There is only one in the world at a time and she is the MOST powerful to come along maybe EVER. She is taken by her two aunts to a magical island where her family lives and she has a whole mixology bungalow and store.
‼️We follow Lily as she finds out secrets about her mom and dad, falls in love, learns about magic and becomes more powerful. She is very kindhearted and always has to solve mystery each book BUT also the over arching plot builds and gets better with each book.
♥️The Romance is so sweet. To me it was very balanced w the mystery and plot WHICH I LOVE. It’s hard to find decent Romance in these types of books that are not set to the background.
Around book 4 the mystery and plot line does get slightly darker. Not a crazy amount but the stakes get higher and higher.
Things I Did 💔 Not Like
-As the books go on I found myself confused by Lilys Reactions to things sometimes. At times she was just immature and jumped to extreme judgement without all the facts. It got annoying after a while.
-Zin is not m fav character she is very selfish. Infact sometimes certain members her family annoyed me
-This sometimes reads very YA. When these characters are late 20s early 30s.
🥀 Hero: Ranger X- Lead Ranger on the island He’s Hot 🔥 He’s super swoon😍 He is head over heels in love with Lily ♥️
He’s very powerful and very secluded from any form of relationship or romance. It’s his job that keeps him that way. The way of a Ranger is that they don’t have personal connections. But our boy changes EVERYTHING to be with his one true love ♥️
🦋 Heroine: Lily- THE Mixologist She is kind hearted At times immature and reactive Sometimes takes a while to get the clues together But overall is sweet and kind and doing a great job with what she has been thrown at her. I can’t say I always understood her but overall the good out weighed the bad
💭 POV: Single first person POV told through the h
😡/😍 Angst level: Low with occasional medium
❤️🔥 Sex & Burn Rate: Slow build but def tons of chemistry throughout there is immediate attraction but it’s not acted on. By the end of book 3 they are together but still have issues to work through -Closed door-
🌓 Push/Pull: Mild for the first few books. There is reasons they cannot pursue a relationship so there are complications.
☠️ OW/OM Drama: None
🤮 OW/OM Sex / Fluid or DNA Exchange: None
🤬 Cheating: None
👰🏼♀️ Virgins: None No history given for either, No past brought up Neither had loved anyone before
⛈️Separation/ 3rd Act Breakup: None They def have lots to work through but once together they never separated
🎧AUDIO ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ great I think the narrator did great. She showed emotion, changed her voice for diff characters and she had a good clear voice.
Safety⚠️Triggers🗡️: Nothing major typical bad guy stuff but there was some death in the family and some bad daddy issues
🌈Epilogue: There is a few lead ins to a spin off connected to this world with new characters small and short.
Yes! Not far in the future but def starting to work HEA!
🥂HEA: Yes! Married and got the big baddie
❌My opinion is just that… MY OPINION.❌ I know we all get passionate about our favorite reads and characters but we should respect each opinions a thoughts. ~Thank you
This is a great book; this is the fourth book in the Magic & Mixology Mystery Series written by Gina LaManna. This book can be read as a standalone, but once you read it you will defiantly want to go back and catch up with the other books in this series. Lily’s barely hanging on by a thread, juggling life, love, and the pursuit of magic, when islanders start disappearing, one at a time. When a man warns her the next disappearance is imminent, Lily must crack the curse, before she’s next. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
Whimsy, Wonder and Wishes with a whole lot of Isle chaos mixed in.
As usual, Lilly really has her work cut out for her, good thing she is always up for a challenge. With parties to plan, weird happenings on the Isle, family drama, and relationships questioned, Lily is about at her limit.
I love the world that Gina has created in this series . I love the characters and the plots. There are so many twists and turns in this book, it will keep you guessing. I really wish Lilys Long Isle Iced tea existed! With each book , they just keep getting better. There is a bit of foreshadowing at the end which is normally a put off for me. But it's not a cliffhanger. It does have me pumped for the next book!
Lilly's relationships with almost everyone in his book is questioned in some way, but come back together stronger than ever. Well, most of them. Her father makes one heck of an impression. Ranger X approaches his relationship like everything else in his life, with complete dedication and commitment. I think I fell more in love with him in this book.
What would you wish for, if you could have your true hearts desire??
If you need to get something done, don’t pick up this book and try to read it until you have some free time. It has all the greatest elements of other books in the series, except there are more of them.
In this one, Lily, who without fail, always bases her life on her family, has to do everything she can to save the ones she loves, including Ranger X. This is nothing new, since she does it all the time. However, the way she does it, and what is at stake is different. There are new situations to worry about, and new allies, as well as foes. She really pushes herself to the limit in this story, and we learn some things about the ranger that you have been dying to know.
There are so many special parts in this book, from heartfelt and sentimental scenes, to portions where there is so much strength, that it is impossible to describe fully.
What I can tell is that you want to read this if you love the series, especially if you love Ranger X.
At the end, you will have laughed, cried, and maybe even had to pick up your mouth from off of the floor a couple of times.
I received an ARC and reviewed this book voluntarily.
Gina LaManna is brilliant! Love this series💜 So many things happening in Long Isle Iced Tea and it all starts with a wish! Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight, wish I may , wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight. What did Lily wish for? What did Ranger X wish for? You will be surprised! In this book we learn more about both of them💏 People are disappearing from the Isle. The Rangers are investigating but when one of Lily's family members disappears she starts investigating to find her. With the help of family, friends and magic will she find them in time? Or will she be the next one to disappear? If you haven't read the other books in the series I highly recommend you do. You can read this first but you'll be missing key elements. Like when Lily meets her father for the first time. Bad bad man! Long Isle Iced Tea had me on the edge of my seat! I was holding my breath for some scenes and screaming in other ones. Love. Laughter. Suspense. Perfect!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
This is the fourth installment in the Magic & Mixology series. Each book gets better as we learn more about the characters and all their abilities. In case you couldn't tell, this is a 'cozy'ish' series with supernatural/paranormal elements. There is also some romance involved, (but all clean.) Even though there is a form of violence in it, it isn't anything terrible. No blood and gore. If you are new to the series, I highly recommend starting from book one, as there is a continual theme running through the series. The main mystery is solved in each book, but there is lingering troubles to this little Magical Isle that aren't completely solved. While this does not end on a cliffhanger, the next mystery is introduced at the end of the story.
The characters are well thought out and have various attributes to the story. There are some humorous scenes, but this book is a little more serious and a little deeper than the others thus far. It is well written and has a few surprises. Lots of imagination in this book! :) It reads rather quickly and easily. Safe for teens and up.
I always get so excited whenever I learn about Gina LaManna having a new book released. It doesn't matter which series, I love them! She has a fresh and lively way of writing that once I start reading a book of hers, I cannot put it down. Long Isle Iced Tea is another winner! Again, she has brought Lily and her island neighbors to life and I love them all. I don't have a favorite character. They each have their own charismatic personalities. I love stories of witches, shifters and magic. And all of those are right here in this book. Magic! Laughter! Suspense! Romance! If you like any of those, you'll find it here. But, if you like all of those and so much more, you are in luck, because they are all right here just waiting for you. I cannot recommend Long Isle Iced Tea enough. Just get the book. You'll see what I mean. ;)
Oh....how I wish I could live on an island just like the one in the book. That would be so cool!
I was given enough a free copy for an honest review.
The most exciting book yet- more involved with twists and turns and cliff hangers than the previous books! A MUST read!
Another home run for Gina LaManna! This series is fantastic, the characters are well developed and quirky, you just have to love them! This book in the series has so many twists, turns and surprises everything from people disappearing from the Isle to working on a special potion for Poppy's surprise birthday, to saving Wishery to Lily's kidnapping, to her finally being able to meet her father, to a war to free Wishery, to the heating up of Lily's relationship with Ranger X. So many twists and unexpected events but through it all Lily has her family always by her side. I couldn't put it down! Each book in this series leaves you with wanting to read more and with the questions and cliff hangers left in this book, you know there will be more! One of the best series of its type I read. I received and ARC from the author, but the opinions here are strictly my own!
Finally! After a whole year we are back at the Isle where Lily is busy mixing a drink for Poppy's birthday. She is alerted to the disappearance of several islanders and Mimsey tells her something upsetting. Lily's relationship with Ranger X has unforseen consequences. We are again taken on an adventure!
Warning: this book is not a standalone. You need information from the earlier books to follow the story.
While reading I was - again - in awe of the story the author came up with. How does she do it??!! Her imagination must work overtime and I can't wait to read what is next in store for Lily and her friends and family (and a certain hot Ranger).
I was given an ARC but opted to buy my own copy. I love the series of Gina LaManna.
This latest instalment in the Magic Mixology series is the best so far, we have gotten to know so many great characters and this book continues their development and their adventures. The excitement and suspense is nonstop with unexpected turns to keep you on the edge of your seat.
There is so much ongoing action with Lily and misadventures on both The Isle and the mainland, and of course Ranger X is often by her side and getting in on the action.
This is a thrilling and gripping instalment in this series and yet also make a great stand alone book (but I would recommend reading from the beginning).
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
I started this series on book 2. I still haven't listened to the first. I wasn't really that crazy about book 2 or 3 but, I had to like something about them since I kept listening. It was good background noise for me while I am at work and library books are free........ I enjoyed this book more than the rest and I think it was due to the action. There is the whole dark father aspect which is not original but, it is interesting. There is a new twist with Liam which makes me interested in the next book. I love all the family characters. I actually like all of the side characters better than Lily and Ranger X.
I picked up the Magic and Mixology Book 1 bc a fellow Harry Potter fan told me I’d like it. I was told it was similar to Harry Potter and Twilight. What I learned was that it’s much more than that! Within a few days, I was whipping through the series. To say I adore it is an understatement. I’m losing sleep because I can’t stop reading!!! I’m ready for Book 5 now, but I’m hesitant to start bc it will bring me closer to Book 6....the last one.
So here’s the deal: I love the characters. I am completely invested in them....in ALL of them. This book series is everything I hoped for AND more. I am enjoying it more than ANY series I have ever read. That’s a big statement!!!
Lily is trying to help out her cousin Poppy for Poppy's birthday. Being a Mixologist, Lily can help bring more fun to any party...if she gets it right. When some of the people from the Islanders start disappearing, Lily needs to up her game. The cast of characters in these books are great! Funny, quirky, and of course there is some romance between some of them. Gina's story is a fun, light hearted read that will make you wish you were a Mixologist and that it real. I voluntarily reviewed ARC of this book.
“Long Isle Iced Tea” (the 4th book in the Magic & Mixology Mystery Series) is the best one yet. Ms. LaManna continues to amaze me with her plots. I couldn’t put this one down. From Lily’s relationship with Ranger X to investigating the haunted house to her fighting The Faction, this book just blew me away! Ms. LaManna’s books are fully developed and multi-faceted. They are an excellent escape into the world of magic. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes cozy mysteries, a little magic and a lot of intrigue!
I decided to try this series after reading the Lacey Luzzi mafia series, and I am glad I did. Although I enjoyed Lacey, towards the end I didn't really feel like she was growing as a character, making the same mistakes every time. I feel with this series we have a strong heroine who grows and shines in Lily Locke, and her enjoyable and supportive (and sometimes hilarious) friends and family. I recommed this whole series and look forward to more.
"Long Isle Iced Tea" is the fourth book in "The Magic & Mixology Mystery Series" by Gina LaManna. There is never a dull moment for Mixologist Lilly Locke. With Poppy's birthday coming, a mysterious person staying in an old witch's cabin, and the Calla Lilly going nuts, Lilly has a lot on her plate. Will she be able to handle everything or will she have to wish on a star for some help? Overall, I enjoyed reading this novel. It was a great addition to an amazing series. I can't wait to see what happens next in Lilly's life.
This is just a series i cannot recommend enough. The characters are so cleverly written, enough humour not to make it silly, enough romance enough so it's not cheesy, and plenty of action and family written in with everything else. Highly recommend, and i also suggest you read it on series order this way you can enjoy the story arc that does through the series and get to know Lily, her family and ranger X in a way that will have you nesting down to enjoy the series they are like a certain type of crisp because once you start you can't stop
Gina LaManna’s books are always enjoyable. I love her quirky characters. Lily has truly bonded with her family & friends on the Isle. Her powers as the Mixologist are growing & her relationship with Ranger X crackles with heat. The plot thickens & becomes more tangled as many secrets are revealed. This series becomes better & better with each book! Can’t wait till book 5 releases!
I don't know how it is possible but the series keeps getting better with each story. I loved this book and the continued development of the characters. In each book in the series we see them grow and face the increasing harrowing trials together. You hate to reach the last page because then the story is over for now ....cant wait to see what is next in the series.
This is my favorite book of the series!! It has just gotten better and better. I love that there were a few new characters without adding in too many and bringing back favorites from other books/series. This series along with its companion series (magic inc) are both nice relaxing reads without being those books that you feel the need to rewrite as you go along because they are so formulaic. I can’t wait for the next!!
Loved this book. I enjoy all the interaction with the main characters and how Gina adds in new characters that you hope will return, like Belinda. Glad to see Ainsley's made another appearance in this book as well. The book was full of twists and turns and left you wanting more. The characters develop more and more with each book, something many authors forget. Can't wait for Book 5, not to mention other books in all of Gina LaManna's many series.
