"Intensely sexy and packs an emotional punch!" - #1 New York Times bestselling author Lauren Blakely on Make Me Beg
Claire Collins has always been good—except when it comes to bad boys. Or one bad boy in a tattooed musician as skilled with her body as he is with his guitar. But he wasn’t ready to be a father, so she left him to raise their daughter on her own. Only fate had other plans, and suddenly, Ryan is back in her life, disrupting everything. This time, though, she’s determined not to lose her heart…even if she still craves his touch.
Ryan Thomas never expects to see Claire again—especially not in a small mountain town in Washington on the last show of his comeback tour. But when the lights come on, there she is, more beautiful than ever. One incredible night with her won’t be enough… But he’ll have to prove he’s not the man he used to be, if he wants to keep her—and his family—for good.

Rebecca Brooks lives in New York City in an apartment filled with books. She received a PhD in English but decided it was more fun to write books than write about them. She has backpacked alone through India and Brazil, traveled by cargo boat down the Amazon River, climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, explored ice caves in Peru, trekked to the source of the Ganges, and sunbathed in Burma, but she always likes coming home to a cold beer and her hot husband in the Bronx.
Make Me Yours by Rebecca Brooks is a reunited lovers story with a bit of a twist.
Meeting up and coming rock star, Ryan Thomas, was a heady experience for good girl, Claire Collins, and he turned her world on its axis in more ways than one.
Almost six years after Claire left Ryan, her world is thrown into a tailspin when he shows up in the small town she has chosen to raise her daughter and he finds out that she’s been keeping a secret from him. They both made mistakes, but once they are reunited the attraction burns bright and the more time they spend together the harder it is for them to remember what kept them apart especially when their daughter, Maya, is completely enamored with her Mom’s new friend, Ryan. A bit too predictable scenario gives Claire a reason to lash out at Ryan and sends him running; thankfully they both have good friends to knock some sense into them for not only them, but for their daughter.
I enjoyed parts of this story quite a bit, but I really wished we would have seen more of them bonding as a family, more scenes with her friends that have helped her through the tough times, and more of them as the couple they are today. Most of all I wanted to see Claire confront her parents because the choices they made affected all three of them, and that story line was left hanging.
While at times sweet and sentimental and at other times sexy as hell, this book was lacking the substance needed to make it an outstanding romance.
Received an ARC for my voluntary review for netgalley. This is the fourth in series of Gold mountain. This was Claire's book, with her ex- Ryan. Claire was pregnant with Maya, when she left Ryan because he could not get his act together. Ryan was so drunk that he could not remember that she told him that she was pregnant, so five years later he was shocked. Ryan is now sober, and he wants to meet his child, at least one time and then go back to his life of being a rock star. Claire does not want him to meet Maya because she will get confused, and Claire does not want to get heartbroken again, well that part last a whole minute, because she gave in to him pretty quickly. She does give Ryan a chance, and he screws up drastically, and I wholeheartedly agree with Claire, Ryan was irresponsible with Maya. She does end up forgiving him, and they have there HEA.. It was great reading about the crew.. My favorite couple is still Mack and Cole.
A second chance lovers dream, Make Me Yours was incredible. A chance second meeting brings former lovers Ryan and Claire back to each other.
Raw emotion makes up most of their journey. The storyline can get tough at points, and these characters manage to keep going with their heads held high.
I loved the character development, Claire’s strength and Ryan’s remorse. I felt a few things went left unanswered, which dropped my rating a tad.
Make Me Yours reads perfectly as a standalone and is recommended to any reader who loves a good second chance love.

Ryan would rather show than tell, “it’s not little right now, baby,”he said and brought her hand to feel the bulge that all her thinking and worry was doing nothing to lessen." I liked this book, Claire was such a good mom and Ryan he was a good guy and the man tried his best.

Favorite quotes: “It’s always been you in my heart. Even when you’re not with me – even if you don’t want to be with me ever again – it’ll still be you in my heart.”
“If he’s sad that he’s in Chicago, and you’re sad that he’s in Chicago, and I’m sad that he’s in Chicago, and Dino’s sad that he’s in Chicago” – Maya held up her stuffed toy – “then what’s he still doing in Chicago?”
Thoughts: Make Me Yours is a bittersweet romance about second chances with a little rockstar romance thrown in for good measure. Ryan is a somewhat battered character that just can’t seem to get anything right and has messed up more than once – as a reader you can sympathize with his character though and connect with him while desperately hoping that he can redeem himself for good. Claire was a genuinely loveable character and a strong female whose real weakness is Ryan. It was interesting to gain insight into her character, and to watch her struggle with what her brain is telling her as opposed to her heart. Not to mention her strength to do what was best for her daughter.
Make Me Yours was an emotional journey but it is well worth it in the end. It may even wrench a tear or two away from you. Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed it and rate it a five star read!
After not caring for the last book in this series, I was hesitant to pick this one up but I'm so glad I did! Wow...this book is just amazing!!!
First I love how the author portrayed the realistic life of a musician and how easily they call fall into alcohol and drugs as part of crazy lifestyle. I thought her portrayal of what Ryan and Claire went through as a young couple trying to start a life together was incredibly accurate. The financial struggles and relationship stress was everything that I would have expected it to be.
My heart broke for Claire and how she struggled after leaving Ryan. Although she had a few close friends she was essentially alone, raising their daughter by herself with little support. She assumed he wanted nothing to do with her or their child again, but she couldn't have been more wrong.
I loved that the physical attraction was still there between them after all these years and that Ryan wanted something more. Usually this is all on the female, but for once an author portrayed a man who wanted a relationship and a female who was resistant.
Loved the slow burn of the developing relationship and the drama at the end.
This book was the best second-chance romance I've ever read, hands down. There were real reasons for Claire and Ryan to be apart, for Claire to not believe that Ryan was ready to be a father, and that time apart made them stronger and better for each other. This book was so good. It didn't leave me aching (highest praise for me in a romance), BUT I'm giving it five stars anyway, because I loved it, and it hit super close to home.*
*My husband has an anaphylactic peanut allergy and my dad is a former alcoholic who has now been sober ten years. And this was an excellent representation of both medical issues.
Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for the advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review. And a special thank you to the author, for writing this book and this series and for normalizing things like alcoholism and severe allergies. I can't wait to read the first two books in the series (and re-read books 3 and 4, obviously). ❤
Rebecca Brooks has been on my reading wishlist for awhile now. Make Me Yours marks my first time reading her. This is the fourth book in the Men of Gold Mountain series and is easily a standalone read.
Make Me Yours is a second chance love story mixed with a secret baby storyline. I’ve been on a secret baby kick with my last couple of reads so I was excited to read this book. Unfortunately, the story and I didn’t always see eye to eye. For starters, I would have preferred to have had a prologue detailing at least some of Claire and Ryan’s backstory. Instead, I had to figure things out as I read the story. This left me confused most of the time as to why Claire said and did certain things.
Claire and Ryan’s relationship is extremely complicated. For almost half of the book, I didn’t like Claire. It took me having to be objective to see her side of things and potentially understand. In fact, I struggled with the book through about the first 100 pages or so. But it wasn’t until the climax, when I saw myself in Claire that I could say that I truly became invested in this story. I realized that I was looking at things all wrong. I started reading Make Me Yours thinking it was going to be a cookie cutter story. In fact, it’s anything but. Rebecca made this story real. There are always reasons why couples break up. Claire and Ryan didn’t break up for superficial reasons. At a young age, Claire made a good, hard, tough decision to do what was best for her, her unborn child, and ultimately Ryan. While I struggled with Make Me Yours, I loved that Rebecca didn’t make the reconnection between Ryan and Claire easy for them. She didn’t act like the painful past didn’t happen. She put them through real life trials and she made them work for the relationship that they both wanted and deserved.
I was surprised to find myself crying at a certain part of this story. It really did make reading this story worthwhile. An added benefit is that the heroines from the previous books make appearances and prove to be true friends.
**Received a copy from Entangled Publishing and reviewed the book voluntarily.**
This one I did not enjoy. Too coincidental, and the child just seems like a prop rather than a person in her own right. When they want to jaunt off for a weekend, the child is conveniently not there, yet when there is Plot Business to advance, she is There Causing Trouble. That is something that I personally do not enjoy.
Claire is a single mother. She will do anything for her daughter Maya. Maya's father Ryan was the love of Claire's life, but things didn't work out between them. Ryan is a musician and their life together wasn't easy. Claire hasn't seen him since the terrible night she left him many years ago. Her friends are encouraging her to go out more and when she's finally ready to go to a concert the first man she sees is Ryan.
Ryan never stopped looking for Claire. She's the one for him, but he messed up. He'd like to make things right, but didn't think he'd have the opportunity after years without any news of her. He never expected to find her in Gold Mountain, a small town in Washington. Now that he knows where she is he wants them to have a second chance. Will Claire be willing to give it to him and will Ryan be able to convince her he won't make the same mistakes again?
Make Me Yours is a sexy and romantic story. Claire and Ryan have a lot of chemistry. There's also a deep emotional connection. They went through a lot, when they were together and after they split up. They both came out stronger, but they do have scars. Ryan messed up, but he's determined to show Claire that he's changed. It's clear from the start they belong together, but the question for Claire is if love will be enough. I couldn't wait to find out if she could give Ryan the chance he so longs to have.
Rebecca Brooks has written another terrific story about a strong independent woman. I love that her heroines can take care of herself. Her writing has an easy flow and her stories are perfect to read in one sitting. I like how her main characters are soul mates, people who are each other's one true love. It makes The Men of Gold Mountain a fascinating series. Make Me Yours is a great addition, it's an amazing entertaining, hot and charming story.
4.25 stars - My review cross-posted from Wit and Sin
Once upon a time, Claire Collins fell fast and hard for bad boy Ryan Thomas. But Ryan was an up-and-coming musician whose alcoholism was making him spiral out of control. When Claire found out she was pregnant and Ryan was too drunk to even talk to her about it, she did what was best for her child and left him. It’s been more than five years since they last spoke, but when Ryan comes to Gold Mountain on his comeback tour to find not only Claire, but the daughter he didn’t know existed, everything changes. The chemistry between Ryan and Claire is as hot as ever. But even though Ryan is Claire’s weakness, she always puts her daughter first. And if Ryan wants a chance at winning the heart of the woman he loves and the daughter who immediately grabs his heart, he’s going to have to prove that he has changed.
There’s nothing I love more than a good second chance romance and Make Me Yours is exactly that. Rebecca Brooks has a talent for delivering wonderfully human characters which is what makes this story compelling.
Ryan is a recovering alcoholic who lost everything. He’s worked hard to remain sober and rebuild his career, and I respected the hell out of that. Ryan is a flawed hero, one who makes a number of mistakes. But he’s also incredibly loving and is working to be a better man. Claire’s life was turned upside down when she got swept up in Ryan’s world the first time. Since leaving him, the businesswoman and single mother has worked her butt off to build a life for herself and her daughter. She’s strong and protective and definitely wary of letting Ryan in her heart again. Upon seeing each other again, the two of them strike sparks. Their romance is both emotional and incredibly sexy (I’ll never look at rock climbing the same way again). I liked that Ms. Brooks didn’t make things easy on them; there are a couple of ups and downs and even when the characters messed up, I could understand why they made the mistakes they did – there’s no false drama in this book.
Make Me Yours is by turns sexy and sweet and I may have sniffled a time or two. I adored Claire and Ryan together and I loved catching up with Claire’s friends, the previous Men of Gold Mountain heroines. All in all, Make Me Yours is an engaging story with characters who grab your heart and don’t let go.
FTC Disclosure: I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I kind of skim read this book not too long ago but wasn't in the mood to read it back then, but I needed a bit of a break from my Bethany Kris binge and thought I'd give this a proper go. This book had a good premise and potential but there was a lot that just didn't do it for me.
Somethings I liked first though, I liked that in the first chapter from the hero's pov you do feel his regret on how things went down between him and the heroine but he fully acknowledges it was his fault and his doing. I liked the tattoos he got and what they symbolised and thought they were a really nice touch, along with the way he used to google her to try and see what she was up to. I also liked that the author did have the hero think about how he used to take her money that she made from waitressing tips and blow then on cheap alcohol to feed his addiction.
I like that when they hero does find out about his daughter he never plays that "what if you would have stuck around maybe I would have gotten my shit together" game and again acknowledges that nothing would have changed and he would have been a shitty dad and the heroine made the right decision on getting herself and their baby out of that situation. I also like that he understood why her parents lied about him getting in contact and I'm actually on their side in this situation. Lying to their daughter was probably the best thing they could have done for everyone involved because god knows the heroine does not have the backbone to say no to the hero.
I also liked the way the kid was written, she was never over the top cute the way authors try to write them but was just a normal weird kid who had a fixation on dinosaurs. I loved that moment when the hero swears in front of her and she whips her head to look at him for doing so, it remined me of my cousin the same age who acted similarly to my brother saying bitch in from of her.
The heroine I thought was okay but just really frustrating at times. She made some dumb mistakes in the past like dropping out of school to follow a guy to New York just so he can chase his dream and having to be the one to get a real job to support them. But I feel like not a lot changed and she hadn't really learnt her lesson because she gives into him way too quickly and sleeps with him almost immediately. The one good thing she did was introduce him to their daughter as mommy's friend and nothing more. Her friends I thought were okay for the most part but at the end they annoyed me when they told the heroine she was being too hard on the hero for making one mistake that anyone could have made when it was clearly bigger than that just made them look like dumb bitches.
The thing I really didn't like in this book though was the hero and his actions. First up I don't think he ever properly apologises to the heroine or makes amends with her the way he should have for the shit he put her through. I really think that at some point these two needed to have a really sit down and have a real conversation instead of him in his thoughts being all like "I don't want to hear about how I treated her". I also never felt he was all that much into his kid or cared really, he's just like I want to meet her once then I plan on going on with my life. Even if you draw a line under the past drunk him, I don't think present sober him had grown up all that much and was a pretty selfish guy. Like at one point he decides to take the heroine out on a date to show he's changes and is responsible now but also to give her a break, but he takes her rock climbing which is something he likes to do and not something she enjoyed all that much. How was that thoughtful or showing her you've grown up?
Then there's the whole thing where he almost kills his own kid that really cemented how selfish and irresponsible this guy is. He gets a call from one of his old friends to talk about some sort of music work thing (the author never gets into any sort of detail about what it actually is) and they agree to meet at a bar and bring the kid, he does think about how maybe he should be bringing his kid into a bar and should suggest somewhere more appropriate. but he didn't want to come across as unaccommodating so they wouldn't want to work with him. This guy puts the comfort of the guys who could potentially give him the career he wants over his own child. It's only when after ignoring his daughter to focus on his meeting and she ends up eating nuts and is struggling to breathe, does he finally realises that this kid's life matters more than his.
When the heroine finds out and is rightfully pissed as hell, he does the same half-assed apology and asks shouldn't she cut him so slack because this was really hard for him and one of the worst moments of his life. For me this reminds me so much of the moment when the heroine told him she was pregnant and asks what they were going to do and he says can't you see I have a headache. This is why the heroine's friends reactions annoys me so much because it wasn't just a little mistake, it's who this guy is at his core and the decisions he makes and how he handles them. He has no level of maturity or responsibility whatsoever. I mean this guy thinks that the fact he picked his daughter up from school once and cooked and cleaned for them a few times is enough to show the heroine how much he's changed. Man of the year right here ladies and gentleman.
Then there's the whole big romantic gesture that is the stupidest fucking thing I've ever read. A man who has constantly put his ambitions and music career before everything and everyone thinks an appropriate apology gift is to write and record some songs to show how he feels. HOW DOES THAT FIX ANYTHING. This is why I really dislike the big romantic gesture at the end because a lot of the times they never acknowledge or fix the problem in the first place. It's slapping a plaster on a stab wound. But of course the heroine is bough to tears over this and calls and forgives him right away and apologises for being too harsh. Then there's the epilogue where the hero get's everything he's ever wanted without having to sacrifice anything, or even having to be an actual adult.
Overall, this book could have been something good and an interesting take on surprise baby trope. But instead it's a guy who gets to fuck up time and time again and then all the women around him swoon after he does the bare minimum. If anything it's realistic to the real world.
This time we get to meet Claire and Ryan, two people with a loooog story behind them. I felt for both these characters, they were both hurting in their own way after their break-up. However, they were able to create a life for themselves apart from the other, a life that had them… content.
I was really curious to see how they would handle this new meeting, since there were a lot of misunderstandings from their past. They both made a lot of assumptions about the other.
Still, it was fun to see them reconnect and build a new relationship, only this time any life altering decision would be made by the both of them.
Good addition to the series and looking forward to reading more of it.

Claire Collins has finally made a life for herself. She had left college and moved to New York with her aspiring rock-star boyfriend, Ryan. But chasing the dream, finding some success, and wild partying took its toll. Claire was left alone a lot and Ryan became an alcoholic. When he was around, she was cleaning up his messes and finally she left – for good. Now that she’s got a business, and a home in a town she loves, she is finally content. But she still misses Ryan and lives with a constant reminder of him in their daughter. When he shows up for a concert in her town unexpectedly, she is blind-sided. And when he wants to meet his daughter, she wrestles with how to handle the situation. But Claire has another problem – Ryan has cleaned up and their electric attraction has only gotten stronger. But leopards can’t change their spots, can they? While the idea of a life with Ryan is everything she’s ever dreamed, she isn’t sure he can be trusted – with her heart or their daughter’s heart.
Ryan Thomas screwed up his entire life. On the road to fame, he lost it all – including Claire. When he sees her in a crowd, he knows he has to make contact. He needs her to know he’s changed. He had no idea about their daughter and is completely floored at the idea of being a father, but he is determined to prove to Claire that he is worth the risk. But Ryan isn’t sure he’s ready to leave the rock-star life behind and a near-fatal mistake could cost him everything – again. He has to express his emotions to Claire, but he’s always failed at that so he turns to the only way he knows how to say the words he feels.
I absolutely loved this book! It was both realistic and raw. Ok – maybe the whole dating a rock star thing is not quite what people deal with on a daily basis – but the characters were deep and engaging. Claire is everything I would imagine a single-mom to be – struggling to maintain some semblance of balance in her everyday routine, pay the bills, keep up her business certifications, be a good mom to her daughter, be a good friend … you know. Life. I’ve dealt with some of that struggle and I felt like her reactions, while sometimes over the top, were relatively in line with a woman in her position. And Ryan? I absolutely loved him! He hits bottom and claws his way back up. He struggles to make amends with past wrongs, and is in uncharted territory with suddenly becoming a father. But I adored that, through it all, even after hurting one another and living apart for years, their love remained. I also really appreciated how, in the end, everything is stripped down to the basics and all that remains is love and how it is communicated.
This is book 4 in a series and I am definitely interested in the first 3 books now. All couples from the first books were mentioned within this book, but this book reads wonderfully as a standalone. Ms. Brooks creates characters that you can’t help but love and want to see flourish. She magically crafts a world in which the good and bad balance out and love prevails. And don’t think for a second that this story isn’t super sexy – the sinfully delicious interludes between Claire and Ryan are beyond hot with an undeniable sexual chemistry. The added bonus of depth of character within such a short space of pages is a masterful talent, executed perfectly by Ms. Brooks. If you are looking for a quick read, with tortured lead characters who have to battle back for their happy ever after, coated in some seriously hot sex, look no further. You have found it.
Kindle version provided by NetGalley/Entangled in exchange for an honest review.
Claire Collins loved Ryan Thomas so much, but she never expected to see him ever again, not after the way she left. She did the right thing for her unborn baby at the time, especially since she was never able to deny Ryan anything. However, as they get to know each other again, Claire has to decide whether she's ready to let Ryan back in after working so hard to move on. Will Ryan be able to convince Claire that he's changed and is ready for love, family and happiness, or will the unthinkable happen to make Claire send Ryan away?
Having just recently read the other books of this series, I couldn't wait to dive into this book, because I wanted to know so much more about Claire and why her relationship with Ryan went awry. What did he that tore them apart? And after reading this book, I've got to admit that this is the best book of the four in Ms. Brooks Men of Gold Mountain series, as Ryan does everything in his power to win back the woman he's always loved. Will Claire be able to forgive and start over since Ryan has clearly done all he could to overcome the things that drove Claire away?
As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the history between this couple, but it was also hard not to be affected by the emotions alongside the characters, as they cherish their second chance at forever after; find it within themselves to forgive the past; and earn redemption along the way. Well, Ryan does, as he realized how much he lost. Furthermore, the heroine was resilient, courageous and I liked how determined she was to take things slowly with Ryan, even though that plan didn't work out quite as well as she hoped. I also liked how good of a mother she was and that she was willing to give the hero a chance to get to know his daughter, even if they have an agreement about how much they want their daughter to know.
While the hero, he made so many mistakes when he was with Claire in the past, but he's managed to overcome so much since Claire left him, and I liked how well he's doing for himself in his professional life, considering all his rocker lifestyle once cost him. His relationship with Claire ending and his bandmates deserting him was hard, but I liked how hard he's worked to overcome his problems. I also liked how determined he was to prove to Claire that he's changed and that he would do anything to win her back, even if it meant sacrificing a career he's worked so hard for.
Overall, Ms. Brooks has penned another wonderful read for this series where the chemistry between this couple was intense; the romance fan-your-face hot because of Ryan's need for control; and the ending had me wondering whether this couple would achieve their happy ever after because of Claire's over-reaction to what she believes is Ryan being irresponsible again. Will she be able to forgive Ryan, considering what happened could have happened to anyone? However, in saying that, I loved how things worked out for this couple in the end, as Ryan will do anything to be with Claire and his daughter and I liked that Claire finally was able to be honest with her daughter about things she's been keeping from her. I would recommend Make Me Yours by Rebecca Brooks, if you enjoy second chance romances or books by authors Daire St Denis, Cathryn Fox, Samanthe Beck and Amy Andrews.
I have been following the Men of Gold Mountain series since the very beginning, and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that I'm addicted. Like so addicted that I want to move to my very own Gold Mountain. It seems impossible, but each new story in this series is better than the previous, and Make Me Yours is no exception! Claire Collins has always been a good girl with one noticeable flaw, she cannot resist bad boys. So when she met Ryan Thomas, the tattooed musician, it was game over. But as Ryan was moving up in the music world, his drinking was also along for the ride, and when Claire found herself pregnant along side of Ryan self destructing, she had to leave him to raise her daughter in a better environment, which is how she landed in Gold Mountain. Little did she know that fate would step in, and she would come face to face with Ryan where she lives almost 6 years later. And Ryan isn't going to let this chance slip through his fingers, as he wants to desperately show Claire that he's a different man now. WOW! Like I said at the beginning, I have been addicted to this series from the get go, but Make Me Yours has become my absolute favorite. Claire and Ryan have been through the ringer, both having different flaws. Yes, Ryan screwed the pooch with Claire years previous, but since he's gotten his act together, he had the tortured soul yumminess healing into a good man. And Claire was a great heroine, except for stubbornness, which while I understood, still didn't stop me from wanting to shake her. It was great to see the entertaining cast of secondaries from the previous stories, as they gave a comedic relief from the angst filled storyline, especially a tiny human named Maya. There's no doubt that Rebecca Brooks has a very talented writing style, but with each new story, it only hits higher levels of excellence, and I cannot get enough! So in conclusion from all of this fan girl gushing, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND Make Me Yours to ALL!
This is the fourth story in the Men of Gold Mountain series and it is my favorite! It is an emotional, roller coaster ride of a second chance romance! You will smile, laugh and cry! I would give this more than 5 stars if I could!
Ryan and Claire have a complicated history. Years ago, Claire gave up her aspirations for college to follow Ryan to New York, supporting him working as a waitress while he pursued a career as a musician. Unfortunately, he spiraled downward into a life of alcohol. Claire leaves Ryan after a particularly hurtful episode (I don't want to give anything away here) and moved back to Washington, giving birth to her daughter Maya and began a career she could support she and Maya with. Ryan, in the meantime, goes through rehab and, 5 years later, has embarked on a comeback tour. His last stop is a small town in Washington where he just happens to find Claire in his audience.
This is a very emotional story for both characters. Claire is working so hard to make a perfect life for Maya and is always there to care for her friends as well, that she spends little time on herself. She's always working, trying to make ends meet, very focused on Maya. Seeing Ryan unexpectedly throws her for a loop. She's angry and hurt but also feels the same pull towards him that she felt over 5 years ago.
Ryan has plenty of baggage of his own. He wants to show Claire that he's not the same guy he was. And yet, he can't even remember how badly he (emotionally) hurt her. Then, when he discovers he has a daughter, old self doubts surface making him unsure of how he will fit into their lives.
There is a depth to both characters that will draw you in. You will feel the anguish both of them experience. There are a lot of bumps along the way for both Claire and Ryan, but a lot of bright points too! Can they make it work in the long run? Read this and find out!

Make Me Yours, Men of Gold Mountain 4, Rebecca Brooks
Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews
Genre: Romance
A fun read, I hadn't read the earlier novels but each are stand alone and I don't think it would have made a great deal of difference, i was certainly able to get to grips with the story easily.
I liked Claire, loved little Maya, and really felt for her. she had been stupid when it came to Ryan, but when you're young and in love we do act in stupid ways. when the chips were down though she pulled herself up and used her strength to build a good life for her and her daughter. Ryan, in a world where everyone smokes, drinks and does drugs its hard not to give in to one of them, and like so many he just doesn't realise or recognise he's an addict until its too late, Claire has gone. he doesn't know why or where and when after five years he sees her at a small venue he's not letting her go. there's a huge shock in store for him though... She's determine to stand strong but the attraction between them is still there, steamingly sensual. She still holds a bit of herself back though even when she's given in to that. He seems changed, but is he? well, Ryan is determined to prove he is....until the ultimate test.
Its a sweet story, some serious heat, well written and fitting the story. Its very real in many way, parents do have to be "on" 24/7 but inevitably mistakes happen. There's a point in this book where something is pointed out - and i just knew what was going to result. I would have liked a bit more surprise, that felt a little too predictable but it worked well to move things along, and there's a beautiful ending to this.
Stars: four, its a neat romance, sexy and fun but no deep dramas or real heartache.

Needs proofreading and the way the book is formatted, with sentences cut off mid page only to finish on the next line, I give this book 3.5 stars.
Claire Collins is a good girl. She has responsibilities to do, a mortgage to pay for, a business to run, and a child to care for. She refuses to let anyone help her out. She stopped trusting anyone 5 years ago when her heart was crushed by her ex boyfriend. When Claire was in college, her weakness was bad boys, she went to a bar with her friends and saw a live band. She hit it off with the lead singer, tattooed, Ryan Thomas. Claire started missing classes, not doing homework, then finally dropped out of college and moved to NY from Seattle to be with Ryan. After being together for a few years, she saw the REAL Ryan, it wasn't pretty. When Claire found out that she was pregnant, he didn't take it well, he got drunk. So she left him.
Ryan Thomas has always loved Claire. He doesn't know why she left him. Having called her parents house for months looking for her, which is where she was, only to be told they didn't know where she was; devastated him. But it was his own fault. His drinking destroyed their relationship and then his career. So the last place in the world he ever expected to see her was in a bar audience in Gold Mountain.
When he locks eyes with her from across the stage, she runs out of the bar. He shows up the next day at her massage therapy business and when she walks into the room she recognizes that tattooed back. So they start talking. When he tries to pay and he refuses, he sees a picture of her daughter on her desk. To say he's shocked is an understatement.
Can the rock star prove he can be there for the 2 girls he loves the most? Will Claire let him try?
Claire has always been the "good girl", except when she wasn't. She dropped out of college, followed her rock star boyfriend across the country, and got pregnant. When she tells Ryan she's pregnant, he goes out and gets drunk or more drunk than he already was. Tired with Ryan's drinking and lack of devotion, Claire packs and leaves. Everything she's done since then, has been for Maya. Until Ryan walks back into her life....
Ryan, not knowing where Claire went, is broken. He can't understand why she left, only that he can't remember. Ryan drinks to forget his past, drinks to forget Claire, then just drinks. When he finally stops drinking, he's also lost his career. Seeing that he needs to change, he checks into rehab. Playing with a new band in hopes of jump starting his career, he wonders into Gold Mountain and Claire.....
When the lights come up, he immediately sees Claire as she runs out of the bar. After he completes the set, he decides to stick around and search for Claire--now that he's found her. Imagine his surprise when he sees a photo of Maya. He had no idea Claire was pregnant with his child and that was the reason she left. He knows he's not "father" material, but wants to meet Maya before he returns to Chicago and his life as a rock star. But the longer he sticks around trying to show Claire he's a changed man, he's not so sure he can leave....
This is the fourth novel in the Gold Mountain series and may very well be my favorite. I don't generally read "rock star" romances because I don't like all the booze and drugs that always go along with the stories. BUT, alcoholism and it's devastating effects on others were dealt with grace. It was an emotional read, but not cry your heart out. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book This is my first time reading this author and I LOVED it Claire Collins has finally made a life for herself.
It's not at all unusual for Rebecca Brooks to bring us a steamy read with the sassy characters from her Men of Gold Mountain series, but with this latest book in the series, she touches our hearts even more. Circumstances tore them apart but neither has ever forgotten or loved another the same way they did each other. He was at a destructive point in his life, she was willing to turn the other cheek for way too long ... but when a dawning brought a vision of the future to come into her mind, she finally found the courage to walk way. This story is about reconnecting with a lost love and being strong enough to prove you've changed and proud enough to stand tall about your accomplishments. I've loved the entire series, but this one just had all the feels!
Claire Collins has always been on the straight and narrow ... except for that short-lived time in her life where she fell in love with a musician and threw caution to the wind. Her life never quite recovered, but she wound up with a beautiful daughter out of it all. She might not have been strong enough to demand what she needed, but she would have moved heaven and earth to give that child what she deserved out of life!
Ryan Thomas lived his life hard, and it cost him everything he had ever dreamed of ... but he's worked hard to come back from the ruins he left his life in. Claire walking away was the low-point in his life, and he's never once stopped wishing she'd walk in again ... so when their eyes meet at the start of the last show on his come-back tour, he thinks all of his dreams have come true! Claire on the other hand isn't willing to trust that he's changed ... he was always the smooth talker and promise maker ... so what makes this time different?
Holy hell, what a fantastic book! This is my favorite of the series thus far! I ate this book! I didn't put it down and definitely kept my mind off post hurricane Irma woes. This is an absolute must read.
This book we meet Claire and Ryan. The depth of these two characters was so amazing and Rebecca's writing was so vivid you can clearly see the place in Washington that Claire lived. The last place Ryan would think to see her. The last place she'd imagine Ryan to show up. The place where her life and his would change in a most interesting way. The range of emotions in this story took me on the ride of my life.
Claire and Ryan have history and then some. Claire was in college and Ryan's band just taking off, he jumped in with both feet; his poison of choice was alcohol. Too many promises broken, too much time alone, too much everything and when Claire discovered she was pregnant, his response was to leave a drink some more. She leaves him there. What happens during this time was eye opening. I'm not spoiling a thing with this one, you have to read it yourself. It's about two people who loved each other hard and then one fell apart. Ryan has to earn his way back into her life, just as his second chance in music is also happening. Are there choices and decisions to be made? You bet. Gotta read the book.
This book made me excited to read again. That's the honest truth. Yes, it was that good. Grab this one and allow yourself to sink right into this story and feel it. It's Rebecca at her best.

What a book – now this is it when it comes to second-chance romance i tell you.
The last book from the author didn't do it for me but this one made me a fan. While reading I was either blushing or crying like a baby. It was breaking my heart to see how much effort Ryan put to change who he was, how much love he had for Claire and above all how much he loved his daughter.
Ryan was hit hard when he found out that they had a child and that he couldn't remember that Claire had told him.
»He'd seen the photograph, but that didn't prepare him for the real thing. She was beautiful. He took it back – there was no way and part of her was him. There was nothing in him that could be so good.«
The more time he sent with Maya the more he fell for the little girl. »It was so weird, these fucking feelings. How one second he could be grateful and happy, leaning over to brush the dark hair form Maya's cheek so the ice cream didn't get in the strands. And the next second he could feel his heart breaking, that she was his girl. His daughter. And her life was better precisely because he wasn't in it.«
And when she called his ” Daddy” for the first time??? I was bawling.
This whole book made my heart dance and that hasn’t happed for a while now and I’m so happy that I got the chance to read it.

This is my first time reading from this author and the description at first glance called out to me because second-chance romance is my book jam! You have Claire who has made a new life for herself in a new town after leaving behind the love of her life five years prior. She sees A flyer for a band that will be playing at her friends bar and decided to give into her friends demands and 'have fun'. Surprise to Claire that the eyes that she looks into on stage is no other than her ex whom she left a drunken mess, Ryan! Ryan can't believe that he is now face to face with the one that got away due to his demons and has been haunted by her for 5 years. He is now on the mission to talk to her, to understand why she left and is totally caught off guard when he see's a picture of Claire's daughter!!??(Not a spoiler) HIS daughter! Ryan isn't sure he want's to be a father and Claire, she isn't sure she is over Ryan and now all the emotions are rushing back. The interaction started off timid and sweet, Claire isn't the burned man hating women you'd think she be after what she thought went down with her and Ryan all those years ago, and Ryan, is a changed man. The chemistry they had took me a little while to believe, but when it happened it HAPPENED! The passion was off the charts and the interaction with them as a family was sweet and awkward and I loved it. I am fairly certain this is an author I will read again!
The idea was clever. They were a couple for a while, he is drinking and they split. She is pregnant and she ends up bringing up the child alone for 5 years. I don't want to give away the plot too much to explain how they both excuse the lost time between father and child but it is a good original reason. The issue I have is the meet up, by accident so agree to have a chat and they sleep together. After everything she has been through I wanted her to have more backbone, at the same time she hasn't been involved with anyone else and she really loved him but still I wish she'd made him work for it first. I don't normally read rock star storylines as I hate the rock star view of women that is often portrayed in books but the hero in this is not a manwhore and if he does get involved with anyone else in the time apart it isn't discussed. It's believable that he has been alone due to his issues and she's been busy working and being a mum so it works but if he did then it's refreshing not to hear about it.
This is a rock romance which is all about second chances. Claire was with Ryan from the very beginning of his music career but as time went on Ryan’s notoriety gained and along with it some of the demons that come with this rise to rock stardom. It wasn’t long that Ryan had no other choice than to go to rehab. His drinking lost him his career which was on the rise and most importantly, Claire. Just before Claire left Ryan she had told him something very important but Ryan was in one of his drunken stupors again and doesn’t remember a thing with Claire said.
Five years later and Ryan’s career is beginning to take off again and he takes a side track to a small town and sees someone in the audience that looks very familiar to him. Secrets, trust, and a few surprises is what comes to the forefront of Ryan and Claire’s reunion. You have to read to find out all the things that went in to making this a book which was hard to put down and gives you a very heartwarming HEA.
I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley for a freely given and honest review.
