През 1100 г. един от тримата синове на Уилям завоевателя управлява Англия (останалите двама дебнат в засада), саксонците са третирани така зле от норманите, както те самите преди това са третирали британците, а Антиохия и Йерусалим са бойно поле за кръстоносци и сарацини.
Най-якото в сюжета е средновековната атмосфера - авторката си е дала труд да я пресъздаде в доста детайли, ненатрапчиво и с хумор. Завърнал се от Светите Земи кръстоносец норманин е натоварен да изпълни мисия сред богатите евреи в Англия и същевременно да завлече Саксонска девойка при един от синовете на Уилям Завоевателя в качеството и на подкуп от заговорничещи благородници, избили семейството и. Настава пълна лудница, съвършено фантасмагорична, но пада забава. И свършва с кралеубийство и неплатени дългове към еврейските банкери. Е, и хепи енд. Перфектно. Даже един от героите е заек (плюс монаси, джудже, принцове и малко разбойници).

DNF AT 60%. I really liked another one of the author's books so I kept reading this for a while hoping that it will get better. But it didn't.

This historical romance is rich with detail, is a bit sexist (as fits the time period) but ultimately is a really fun read. I tore through it easily in a week.
