Recipe for a wild weekend: Take one geeky actor, a video game idol, and cinema’s best known towel model. Add a chocolate-box cottage, a liberal sprinkling of snow… make that lots of snow, and an oversized bathtub. Result: THREESOME! Join Lorne, Jasper and Mikayla as they shed their winter woollies, and get wet ‘n’ wild in the wilderness. Identities are mistaken, feelings get bruised, but plenty of hot stuff happens too. Like nakedness. There’s a lot of nakedness. And kissing… And kissing while naked. And sex. There is quite a bit of sex… Oh, and a bathtub, in case you haven’t guessed. PS. There might also be some feelings involved. Prepare to fall in love with one, or more, of the occupants of said bathtub.
Lorne and Jasper have just been cast together so they’re heading to a little cottage in the middle of nowhere to “rehearse” or that’s what they’re telling each other. Lorne wants jasper and booked the weekend away, Jasper wants Lorne enough to go away with him on the weekend of the big new game launch (yes he’s a huge gamer and this is a Lara Croft kinda game featuring the woman of his dreams Lana Bow) but he’s new to the whole guy attraction so Lorne has his work cut out for him.
And it’s going well, Lorne and Jasper start “rehearsing” and it looks like all is going incredibly well until they discover Mikayla (Lana Bow). Lorne isn’t happy at all but he’s nowhere near as upset as me. Yes I know I read the blurb I know this is a threesome book but Lorne and Jasper were working so well for me I wasn’t happy with the interruption. Mikayla has the wrong weekend (unbelievable I know but it’s a fun read just go with it) and initially it looks like she’s spoilt all their plans but there’s worse things than being snowed in with two hot guys.
Like I said it’s a light hot read but for me Mikayla’s presence kind of spoilt the book (which is odd because I’m no stranger to ménage books) while I knew she would be there I’d forgotten once Lorne and Jasper got together and while their scenes together are hot I kind of wished Mikayla hadn’t gotten her days mixed up.
The only thing that really annoyed me was the fact that Jasper (who’s a grown man) couldn’t seem to differentiate between Mikayla and Lana, which was understandable/acceptable at first but went on far too long, but again that could just be me wishing she’d go home.

Lorne, Jasper and Mikayla = ♡♡♡ This was a sweet and sexy and funny read but with a lot of heart and feels especially for a novella and I enjoyed every page. My first book by this author but with the lovely characters and the great writing def. not my last.

6 Stars! "Black Velvet if you please." I have never read anything written by this author before BLACK VELVET. Now I find myself saving pennies to buy up all the books I can find written by Madelynne Ellis. Her work is incredible. I found BLACK VELVET to be encompassing. The characters drew me in and wouldn't let go until the very end of the story. The reading of the book played out like a movie in my head. The characters' depth and the storyline's strength made the reading time fly by all too quickly. I may have to get a part-time job to afford my new Madelynne Ellis reading habit. But that's a good thing. Right?

I will not repeat the blurb – I think everybody is able to read... You can read this book as a stand alone – but it is part of a series 1 Crazy Love 2 Cherry Bomb 3 Bath Bomb 4 Sex Bomb
Lorne and Jasper are actors and they need to rehearse for an upcoming movie. So Lorne convinced Jasper to stay at a cosy cottage in the middle of nowhere in wintertime. And he has high hopes to convince Jasper for some hot action in the bedroom (and maybe outside the bedroom too). And he is not averse to the idea of being stucked due to heavy snow.
Jasper is not sure if he is open for a guy – until now never considered this kind of relationship. Unfortunately when everything seems to go into the right direction a third guest made an appearance - or in other words – they found her in the bathroom: Mikayla. She mixed up her reservation for the same cottage. Of course – who would be so mean and throw her out of the cottage? And it becomes apparent that she is not averse to a threesome.
While the sex was sizzling hot, unfortunately I never really connected with the protagonists. The only one I „cared for“ was Jasper.
I read the first two books and enjoyed them (and gave them 4 stars) and for sure I will read the fourth, when available. But this one was just a solid 3 star.
Poor Lorne. All he wanted to was to get Jasper to a remote cabin and seduce him. Lorne was pretty sure Jasper was bisexual, and Jasper had accepted a bisexual role that would put him and Lorne in very close quarters (they're both actors), so Lorne was hoping life could imitate art. But when they get to the cabin, Mikayla is already there because she mixed up the weekends. And Mikayla happens to be the muse that Jasper's favorite video game character is based on, so he is totally fanboying on her. Which annoys her because she never wanted to be a video game character and totally doesn't understand all the fuss. They're all stuck here with one bed due to the weather. But when Mikayla realizes Lorne's original intention with Jasper, she conspires with Lorne to get what everyone seems to want -- Mikayla really wants to see two guys get it on, Lorne wants Jasper (who is clearly bicurious at least), and Jasper wants Mikayla. Win-win-win, right? But once it's done, Lorne sort of wants Mikayla to leave, but Jasper wants to see where it could with the three of them. And Mikayla is game to give it a go... so a hopeful future is where it ends. There will apparently be a future book that explores where their relationship actually goes.
I first read this MMF book when it was called BATH BOMB by the pen name Clara Leigh. I enjoyed it back then but it would have been nice to have more background on the characters. Now that Madelynne Ellis has added chapters and more material which adds depth to Lorne’s character, I enjoyed this new version ( from the Stirred Passion Series ) so much more.
STIRRED PASSION SERIES Suggested reading order:
Cherry Bomb - book 1 Screw Driver - book 1.5 Black Velvet - book 2 Soul Kiss - book 3 Mint to Be - book 4
Read Cherry Bomb - book 1, Screw Driver - book 1.5, then read Black Velvet; you will find more depth in Lorne’s character than there was in Bath Bomb and you will understand better what motivates him as a character. I liked Lorne in Cherry Bomb & Bath Bomb; but I adore him in Black Velvet. I couldn’t help but to root for him. :-)
WOW...I flew through this book. I absolutely loved this book. So this book follows two men who book a cabin after booking a show together. One is definitely into the other one (who is clearly straight) and he booked the cabin in order for them to explore how they feel about each other. Their first day at the cabin they get a huge surprise when a random woman shows up after mixing up the days she had booked the cabin.
Can the three of them get along long enough to explore this relationship. What kind of fun and trouble can these three get into? Do any relationships form from this trio?
This book was paced perfectly and the story was intriguing. I absolutely loved every second of it. It is apparently the second book in a series, however I wasn't lost at all so it must be a stand alone series. I will definitely be reading more books from this series.
Actors Lorne and Jaspen, Lorne's co-star need to go away to rehearse for their scenes . Lorne would love to have other than acting scenes with Jasper he is hopeful that Jasper would love to have man to man action . Jasper wan't sure at first but he was soon convinced that this was for him
Lorne is extremely happy as he has always wanted Jasper and now this is perfect he thought until ... Mikayla who is an actress arrives , she has mistaken the weekend , but she shouldn't have worried as for her and Lorne and Jasper this was the weekend where two became three... I have much laughs reading this easy to read book .. Good storyline , hot sex , well written.
Lorne and Jasper were really great couple. They were super hot. I really liked them together with the whole exploring their attraction. But when Mikayla enters the picture some of that chemistry was lost due to her involvement (for me). I think this story would be better if it was just MM, but that’s just my opinion. Don’t get me wrong it was an OK read and I did laugh a few times and was biting my nails with the tension but I just wish there was more WOW factor when the 3 of them were together.
Because I loved Lorne and Jasper I’m giving this one -4*.

First things first, this is part 1 of the Lorne, Jasper and Mikayla triad and we have to wait for the next book, Sloe Screw; I hope it releases soon!
Okay I suspected that Lorne was somewhat in love with Dare and unfortunately my suspicion was correct; if you read Cherry Bomb, you know it doesn’t end well for our sweet nymph, Lorne. However, Lorne meets Jasper on his new tv show where they will be main characters, superheroes who are also a couple.
Now Lorne is mourning the loss of his best friend, Dare, but he is definitely open to something new with Jasper. Unfortunately for Lorne, Jasper is straight or at least identifies as straight, but Lorne has plans to test his theory. Once the plan is in motion, Lorne has an unexpected obstacle named Mikayla or at least she starts as an obstacle.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I was a bit scared about how it would progress, but it wasn’t too harsh. I was afraid that Lorne was going to break his own heart again and Mikayla was going to be a casualty; because when Lorne gets mean, he’s a real turdburger.
I was somewhat disappointed that book ended and it felt like there was still so much to explore: does Lorne actually want Mikayla? How will the ménage work since they are all so different? I would have loved to have them in a relationship instead of just sex.
However, it is revealed in the end that their story will continue in Sloe Screw, but I have no idea when it will be released. Update: the book may come out sometime next year.
Below are spoilers recaps of the entire book:
Spoiler Recap:
The book begins during the spicy interaction between Dare, Lorne and Flicka in the bar while the scene seemed hot in Cherry Bomb, when you see it from Lorne's POV, you realize how hard and heartbreaking it was for him.
Lorne and Jasper meet at his new TV gig, where they play 2 superheroes who fall in love
Lorne is still heartbroken over Dare, but still happy for Dare and Flicka
Lorne and Jasper go on a weekend getaway to "work" on their lines, but they are both there to give into their chemistry
Jasper identifies as straight, but he doesn't deny his attraction to Lorne in his thoughts
Everything goes great between Lorne and Jasper there is even some action, but things take a turn when they discover Mikayla in their outdoor bath.
Mikayla is a botanist who's ex-roommate shot her to gamer fame by using her image for his game; unfortunately, it causes problems for her in both her professional and personal life
Lorne is not happy with the Mikayla situation because Jasper is half in love with Mikayla or should I saw Lana, the character with her likeness
Mikayla made a mistake with the cabin dates and due to weather conditions she can't leave the premises which really pisses off Lorne
Lorne can feel Jasper pulling away from him and going towards Mikayla; however, Mikayla is very much attracted to Lorne
After Mikayla witnesses Lorne and Jasper having some private time fun, Jasper freaks out and tries to pretend it was all work related
Mikayla asks if she can watch them work and things almost take an interesting turn especially with the sleeping arrangements
Lorne and Mikayla talk about Jasper and the situation and come up with a plan to help Jasper relax and join in on the fun that all 3 can have
Jasper walks away upset because he thinks Mikayla only wants Lorne because he made a total geek of himself by continuing to call her Lana
After a convo with Lorne and a complete reassurance that Mikayla doesn't think he's an idiot they all go to sleep
Well things get heated between Lorne and Mikayla and Jasper gets jealous, but is quickly abused of that notion and they set forth into their first MFM interaction, very hot
After Mikayla is asleep, the men have their own interaction
When Mikayla and Jasper wake up the next day, they spend time together and Mikayla's feelings for Jasper get deeper which is a major problem since Lorne only agreed to share Jasper once
Jasper believes that all 3 of them are in a relationship which not the case and NOT what Lorne wanted
Mikayla tries to explain it to Jasper, but he doesn't listen; it seems Jasper fell in love with them both and while Mikayla feels the same, Lorne feels like he's being replaced by the female again just like Dare did with Flicka
The innkeeper drops by to tell them they should leave soon since the storm is getting worst and they could trapped for a long period of time; Mikayla decides to leave and Lorne doesn't stop her, but Jasper tries
Mikayla is getting ready to leave, but Lorne refuses to talk to her and is actually a huge ass to her which angers Jasper
As this is happening, the ex-roommate keeps calling Mikayla and Lorne yells at her to pick up the phone which leads to the roommate screaming at Mikayla about how she should be grateful or something
This apparently angers Lorne and he comes to Mikayla's defense and shuts the roommate down
All 3 decide to try a ménage relationship since the chemistry and feelings are there, but Lorne is still a bit skeptical
Epilogue: Dare asks Lorne to be his best man at the wedding
Lorne finally learns that Dare knew about his feelings for him all along and never intended to go any further
Dare admits he did tried to love him in the way he wanted, but he just couldn't do it and then he met his Flicka
Lorne reveals his new relationship status which seems to startle Dare, but the friendship wins and they try to move on
Lorne is feeling the sting of losing his longtime BF and secret love interest to the wild world of marital bliss. What better way to curb an aching heart than to sneak away and bury your sorrow in the arms of another.
Jasper has no idea what the plan is when Lorne whisks him away to the secluded cabin to rehearse lines...or rehearse horizontal situations? All is going to plan until an uninvited guest appears in the shared bathroom.
Mikayla finds herself sandwiched between two Hollywood hunks and has not one damn negative thing to say about it. Dirty, sexy, and smoking hot.
Black Velvet was a short(ish) read filled with all kinds of heat between Lorne, Jasper, and Mikayla. Lorne & Jasper head to a cabin to rehearse after being cast together for a new project, and things are heating up between them. Mikayla ends up there with them, and it's definitely on at that point. This story is all heat, and fun, so a break from the reality of the world right now. There are all kinds of feels packed in as well, so how does it all pan out?! You'll have to hit those one click buttons to find out! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Two friends go to a cottage together & end up having a bit of fun together. Then a woman comes to the cottage, & that’s where they find out there’s a problem with the dates the cottage is booked. Lorne seemed to be a bit too full of himself, which didn’t make the story as likable as it could have been,
Side note - Indentations should be more than the space of one single letter... A paragraph should be indented by at least two spaces. For this reason, it sometimes seems like there’s no indentation at all.
I read this as part of the Some Like It Geek anthology, and it was awesome! Lorne and Jasper are actors who take off to stay in a remote cottage to rehearse. They can't seem to decide just what (or who) they want, but when Mikayla mistakenly ends up in the wrong place, the trio find themselves stuck together. Loved this hot and hilarious story - there's gaming involved and, yep, a bathtub, and plenty of heat generated by these three! This was a fantastic, fun read!
This is a steamy, sexy book, with lots of reference to heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, and threesome sex acts.
There is a deep character development to this book, it is book #2 in the series, but does not require you to read the previous book to follow along. I was not sure about the book when I first started reading but it really grew on me.
This book is fun and made me laugh a few times and feel for them in the next.
Black Velvet seems to pick up right where Cherry Bomb picks up but instead of following Dare's story this is all about Lorne. It is a quick fun read about Lorne and Jasper going away and figuring their relationship out when Mikayla enters the picture. The twosome quickly turns into a threesome. I haven't read that many books that are m/f/m so I don't have much to compare this too however, it was a pretty good story line.
This book is part of "Some Like it Geek: A Really Big Set of Romances"; this is my honest review. Lots of hesitations, some unfinished business. Could have been a bit longer, especially details after they all leave the cottage. Loved how they had their threesome. Is this for ever after? It doesn't say but I'm guessing yes.
Oh my gosh! This is so sweet and angsty. I love how deep into the emotions this story goes. Balancing three personalities in a single relationship can’t be easy and this book shows us some of that. It also shows some of the amazing rewards that are only possible in a triad. I’ve fallen in love with these characters and I badly want to know even more about them.
This is the first book of Madelynn’s I’ve read. Black Velvet is an interesting story that was easy to read. Although I didn’t personally connect to Lorne, Mikayla or Jasper I was intrigued at how Madelynn was going to combine M/M and M/M/F relationship. Plenty of moments that tugged at my heart. Definitely steamy moments too! I’m interested in reading the rest of the books in the series.
Instalove that seemed quite unbelievable. Also this feels like a prequel to a real story of these characters and even if there is a note on a second book on these characters, it’s not available which is a pity because these very different characters could have made a nice story if they were given more time to develop their relationship and love.
Heartbreaking, heart wrenching and yet heartwarming too. This story will grab you and literally gut you with rampaging emotions but by the last page you sigh and smile and be glad you tagged along on this journey!
4 stars for Lorne, and 3 stars for this story. The setup stretches credibility but there are some honest relationship development moments in the mix worth reading. Jasper's puppy energy grows on you, and I liked the way Mikayla and Lorne understood each other. More rtc (I hope).
Not my cup of tea, slow going and no romance. This genre I read occasionally when it has a little sensitivity, and someone is always left behind and bound to get hurt.
I bought this as part of an anthology when it first came out and loved it then, but I love having books by my favourite authors as standalone titles too. So I bought it again.
And oh my stars! I’d forgotten quite how hot and steamy it is. The sexual tension between the three main characters sizzles off the pages as Lorne, Jasper and Mikayla find themselves stranded in a remote cottage with only one bedroom. Lorne already had his eye on Jasper and the unexpected addition of Mikayla irritates him at first.
Jasper on the other hand is delighted to find the woman of his dreams in front of him, and less sure about his growing attraction to Lorne.
It’s a delightful, sexy romp that is so much more than “just sex”. You can feel the connections being made as you turn the pages. And if you’re like me, you are willing them to work it all out and find a happy ever after, or at least, a happy for now.
I first read this story when it was called Bath Bomb. I wasn’t a fan of the title back then, but I understood where it came from. Black Velvet suites this story a heck of a lot better though! Also, this version has, I don’t want to say better but I am lol, storyline all around.
No one, and I seriously mean that, writes M/M and M/M/F like Madelynne does in all genres she writes in. I am highly familiar with her Historical Erotic Romances and she is a queen at sexually driven storylines. This is one of those stories. However, it is also a deeply emotional story if you pay attention. If any of you are familiar with a character named Trey Mills from the series Sinners on Tour by Olivia Cunning, then you will totally get why even though this is a very sexual book, the emotional weight behind the storyline is what really drives the story-line. The ending was a bit bittersweet for me and I could have done without the entire last chapter but *shrug*
