не уявляю чому з-поміж купи справді класних і цікавих ромкомів українською перекладають такі банальні та дурацькі книжки. навіть магія Різдва не рятує ситуацію.
британська школярка за обміном Шарлотта не може вчасно полетіти з Нью-Йорку домів через погоду, її літак затримують. в аеропорту вона бачить як дівчина кидає парубка заради іншого, і Шарлотта рілейтиться з тим покинутим, бо вона і сама нещодавно пережила розставання. вони проводять разом Святвечір і, звісно ж, забувають своїх ексів та проникаються взаємними найніжнішими почуттями.
нічого оригінального, я не прониклася стражданнями героїв і не повірила в їхнє нове кохання.
на певному етапі Шарлотта купує в жебрака цуцика, якого називають Помилка і тягають його, бідолашного, всеньким містом. принаймні цуцик був милим.
мене дуже насмішив переклад, бо тут є сцена, де одна з персонажок - стильна і стурбована своїм виглядом панянка - вдягнута у "white walker coat", що нам перекладають як "пальто Білих Блукачів". істинно так, у Грі престолів усі білі блукачі носили пальта! насправді "walker coat" - це просто пальто для прогулянок, а "white" - це його колір, себто, білий.
ще у перекладі навіщось накидають на чикліт, дописуючи до нього зневажливе "чтиво про жінок", що трохи смішно, враховуючи, що перекладачка сама є авторкою такого роману. в оригіналі, ясна річ, ніякого "чтива" не було.
може в перекладі були ще якісь приколи, не знаю, я могла глянути тільки початок, що містився у безкоштовному зразку оригіналу, бо я не настільки дурна і багата, аби купувати книжку, що мені не нравиться, ще одною моовю.

Charlotte hat ein Auslandshalbjahr in New York gemacht und möchte zu Weihnachten zurück nach London fliegen. Aufgrund der Wetterverhältnisse wird ihr Flug verschoben. Auf dem Flughafen wird sie Zeuge, wie ein Junge von seiner Freundin den Laufpass bekommt. Die beiden kommen ins Gespräch und verbringen die nächsten Stunden zusammen in New York. Beide möchten über ihre jeweiligen Expartner hinwegkommen und verlieben sich dabei ineinander.
Mein Leseeindruck:
Ich muss gestehen, ich hatte mir etwas mehr erhofft von diesem Buch. Die Geschichte ist zwar ganz süß, aber irgendwie auch sehr seicht. Die Handlung plätschert so dahin, und die Gefühle der beiden Protagonisten konnten mich nicht wirklich erreichen.
Hinzu kommt, dass einige Begebenheiten wirklich sehr unrealistisch für mich dargestellt wurden.
Die Handlung spielt direkt an Weihnachten, aber weihnachtliche Stimmung kam bei mir leider auch nicht auf.
Trotz dieser Kritikpunkte ist das Buch aber dennoch gut. Es ist halt eine recht leichte und unkomplizierte Geschichte ohne großartige Überraschungen.

Kiss Me in New York is a cute read that will cheer you up this winter. Although a bit clichéd, the story of two strangers meeting at an airport in New York is so entertaining. The idea of two people bonding over a breakup is heartwarming, and the main character is logical and doesn’t whine. This story is super short and can easily be read in one sitting.
This book tells the story of two people who meet at an airport coincidentally after they are both dumped. Together, with the help of Get Over Your Ex in Ten Easy Steps, they attempt to move on from their past relationships while exploring New York City at Christmastime. I loved watching Charlotte and Anthony’s relationship grow as they complete each step in the book, and reading about their adventures and mishaps is so entertaining. Kiss Me in New York is a super short and quick read that is perfect for fans of books like Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares.
I really enjoyed Charlotte’s character in the book. She is a British girl on her way home to her family after studying in America, but her flight gets cancelled and leaves her stranded. She is strong and not too whiny about the cancellation, and I liked how she is both rational and impulsive at the same time. Because Charlotte is British, she uses British slang, and it is so comedic watching Anthony, who is American, react to the difference between their words. Charlotte and Anthony are both enjoyable narrators, and their relationship is so adorable.
Kiss Me in New York is a short and sweet read that is perfect for the Christmas season. The main characters’ adventures in New York are so amusing, and Charlotte is a strong and considerate main character. Definitely add this book to your winter TBR!

Me encanta la Navidad, así que estaba deseando leer algo navideño y me topé con este libro, así que no dudé en leerlo.
La historia es sencilla y sin ningún tipo de pretensiones, donde una chica y un chico, que acaban de ser dejados por sus respectivas parejas, se conocen el día de Nochebuena en el aeropuerto de Nueva York y deciden olvidarse de sus ex a través de unos pasos que tiene un libro y ¡en una sola noche!
La verdad es que la trama no tiene más, tampoco están muy explotados los personajes ni nada de la novela, pero me ha resultado muy entretenida, tierna y cuqui. Eso sí, un poco predecible en ciertos momentos, pero no me ha molestado mucho.
Si os apetece leer algo ligero y sin mayor pretensión que la de disfrutar de un libro romántico, tenéis que leerlo.

I read this for my Christmas reading challenge. Honestly, I had no idea what the book's about until I found a list of YA Christmas books and apparently THE STORY IS SET IN NEW YORK CITY (kinda obvious) DURING CHRISTMAS (not really that obvious)??!! New York City + Christmas = two very awesome things, so before reading this book, I already knew that it was going to be awesome.

Ten Easy Steps for Getting Over Your Ex
Hahahaha, I had no idea why anyone would take those steps seriously. Charlotte and Anthony did, and I laughed so much! I really loved how Charlotte and Anthony follow every rule in this book and even adopt a cute puppy in the process :D
Charlotte + Anthony are so perfect, and THEIR EXES CAN GO *goes to Google and looks up "creative ways to die"* PUT THEIR HANDS IN THE TOASTER AND ADD WATER (wow I didn't know you could die like that?).
Charlotte and Anthony talk about everything, and they just kind of click instantly when they meet. I'm not a huge fan of the "insta-love" trope, and some people wrote, in their reviews, that it's unrealistic that they have only met for a few hours and are already falling in love. But I kind of like it? And I'm so glad that they manage to move on from their old relationships!
MAYA AND COLIN ARE THE HUGEST DOUCHES? THEY BROKE MY BABIES' HEARTS (in case you were wondering, yes, Charlotte and Anthony are my babies. They're soo precious <3)! MAYA WAS CHEATING ON ANTHONY + COLIN SAID HE'S JUST HAVING FUN WITH CHARLOTTE AND THAT THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN IN A SERIOUS RELATIONSHIP? NO. NO. NO. YOU HURT MY BABIES, I HURT YOU. (Sorry for the over-usage of caps.)

абсолютно нічого особливого тут немає. ця книжка може сподобатися підліткам 13-14 років, а може й ні. читати було нудно, багато безглуздих вчинків героїв.
по сюжету. Шарлот навчається в Нью-Йорку, її кидає хлопець і вона збирається відправитися додому в Лондон, але рейс затримують. тут вона знайомиться з Ентоні, якого кинула дівчина прямо в аеропорту. у них виникає щось на кшталт взаєморозуміння, тому вони вирішують забути колишніх разом. все б і нічого. було трохи милих моментів. наприклад, цуценя, яке Шарлот купила або як вони каталися на горці. але для мене такий швидкий перебіг подій нікуди не годиться.
ДАЛІ МОЖЛИВІ ЛЕГКІ СПОЙЛЕРИ
як взагалі можна в один день розійтися з однією людиною, яку нібито «кохав» і в той же день іншій людині зізнаватися в «коханні»??? цього я не розумію. поставила 3 зірочки, бо все-таки це було нормально читати, хоча задумка історії добряче шкутильгає, не моє. без захоплення. на один раз прочитати і забути.

I don't know if I didn't like that book, because I was reading during the summer, but I really couldn't feel the characters. The characters were really annoying and unrealistic. Seriously those were the most unrealistic characters I have ever read about. First of all they are practically strangers. They meet and a couple of hours later they are in love.
The only things I liked about this book were the double points of view.
I liked the whole Christmas and winter atmosphere. Right now where I live it's so hot that I feel as if I'm melting. And the characters are celebrating Christmas and playing in the snow.

Після цієї історії мені захотілося опинитися в іншій країні та просто цілий день та ніч гуляти якимось класним містом. Звісно, не самій, а з людиною, яка буде мене розуміти та з якою буде спокійно і так добре.

Так оце сталось із головними героями цієї історії - Шарлот та Ентоні. Їх обох недавно кинули кохані. Через випадок рейс Шарлот затримують, а Ентоні прямо перед Різдвом в аеропорту кидає дівчина. Натомість до нього чіпляється Шарлот, яка хоче розважити засмученого хлопця, та підбадьорливими словами все не закінчується, бо в неї є книга "Забудьте своїх колишніх за десять простих кроків", а їх як раз кинули, тож... Чому б не спробувати?

Із самого початку стає цікаво, чим же обернеться експеримент Шарлот та Ентоні, отож у читача немає шансу знудитися, бо книга дуже динамічна, крок за кроком герої дістаються до 10 пункту, після якого на них чекає справжнє відкриття.

Це легка та романтична історія. Не треба очікувати від неї чогось особливого. До того ж фінал досить просто прорахувати, але тим не менше читати буде так само цікаво, бо ж не відомо, до чого призведуть спроби виконати всі 10 кроків і як саме герої намагатимуться їх втілити в життя.

А ще в цій книзі створена неймовірна святкова атмосфера великого міста. Точно кажу, відразу захочеться до Нью-Йорка в саме Різдво потрапити.

Єдине, що мене збентежило, це те, як швидко герої відкрились одне одному (не минуло й дня). Невже справді за такий короткий проміжок часу можна так легко когось впустити в життя? Та певно, такі випадки рідко, але бувають, до того ж на Різдво.

Читається історія швидко. Вона сама невелика, але й стиль у авторки хороший. Написано від обличчя Ентоні та Шарлот, розділи чергуються, тому читач може бачити історію з позиції обох героїв.

This was a really cute and fast read, I finished it one sitting.
The characters were well developed, in my opinion they were one of the best features of the book. I also loved the way the magic of New York and the Christmas atmosphere were embroidered in the text, I could practically smell winter. The dual-POV was pulled off masterfully too, and not a lot of writers can do it so well.
I did find the plot slightly clichéd, but it was still fun to read; I was on the hunt for a fluffy rom-com, this book came at the perfect time. However, and I can’t really drop this, it was a little too insta-love for my liking.
Now, if you don’t mind insta-love stories, this book is a perfect read for you. If you do, I still think it’s worth to witness the POVs and the portrayal of the atmosphere.

I did find the plot slightly clichéd, but it was still fun to read; I was on the hunt for a fluffy rom-com, this book came at the perfect time. However, and I can’t really drop this, it was a little too insta-love for my liking.
Now, if you don’t mind insta-love stories, this book is a perfect read for you. If you do, I still think it’s worth to witness the POVs and the portrayal of the atmosphere.

Cette romance n’était pas faite pour moi. J’ai eu beaucoup de mal avec la plume, les personnages ou encore l’histoire… moi qui pensait lire une romance de Noël toute mimi en plein cœur de NY.. plutôt déçue de ma lecture, on a trop peu de références à New York, donc l’ambiance n’y est pas. Les protagonistes m’ont agacé et leur histoire est bien trop fade (et rapide !! Je t’aime au bout de quelques heures ….)
J’avoue avoir hésité à dnf ce livre, mais puisqu’il est très court et se lit vite j’ai préféré le finir. Les chapitres sont longs et il ne se passe finalement pas grand chose selon moi. J’ai trouvé pas mal d’incohérences également. Malheureusement, cette romance ne me correspond pas … j’espère qu’elle pourra plaire à d’autres.

Kiss Me in New York is a warm and fun contemporary romance novel for young adults, set in beautiful New York on the brink of Christmas.
Charlotte is a British foreign exchange student, who's waiting for a flight home for Christmas. She wanted to try studying in New York, because she dreamed of something bigger but now, dumped by her boyfriend, all she wants is to go home and spend holidays with her family. When her flight is cancelled because of a blizzard, Charlotte meets Anthony, who is in the same situation as she - his gilfriend broke up with him on the airport, right before everyone's eyes. The two of them decide to spend Christmas Eve together and try to put past behind and get over their breakups, while following the steps from the book Charlotte got at the airport - " Ten Easy Steps for Getting Over Your Ex".
This was such a cute, feel-good book, perfect to read around the holidays! On the surface, it may sound like any of your YA contemporary stories, but the plot was really fun and actually surprising at times, going in a way that you wouldn't expect. One thing that made me excited about this book was the setting: New York during Christmas, and it definitely didn't disappoint! The descriptions were great and as Anthony showed the city to Charlotte, I felt as if I was there with them.
The characters are easy to sympathizse with and I liked Charlotte and Anthony right away. They were also both well developed and had interesting back stories, despite the book not being too long. Their adventures were really fun and I also enjoyed all the side characters, especially Mistake :D The writing style is easy to follow and engaging. The the book is a dual effort of Stephanie Elliott and James Noble who write under the pen name Catherine Rider and I think that they did a great job of creating two easily rocegnizable and different points of view. And although the story takes place in such short period of time, I like how it still manages to touch upon a theme of finding yourself and your place in the world, still keeping the light tone that's characteristic for such Christmas stories.
I would recommend Kiss Me in New York if you like YA contemporary stories or if you're looking for an entertaining read to bring some holiday spirit into your life.

Очень милая и легкая книга, с который приятно скоротать вечерок. Я бы даже назвала это некой подростковой версий «Неспящих в Сиэтле» и «Хоть раз в жизни». Лично я проглотила книгу буквально за один вечер, она очень небольшая, но наполнена множеством событий, при всем этом автор умело раскрывает характеры героев. Несмотря на то, что в книге действие не стоит на месте ощущения «перебора» тоже не было, что на мой взгляд очень и очень важно.
Итак, на что похожа эта книга? Возьмите огромный прекрасный город, добавьте к этому огромные белоснежны хлопья снега и легкую романтику, витающую в воздухе. Представьте двух подростков, которые оказались в канун Рождества совершенно одиноки и потеряны. Их сердца только что вдребезги разбили и новогоднее настроение помах��ло ручкой на прощанье, громко хлопнув дверью.
Очень приятные герои, совершенно разные и непохожие друг друга, очень понравилось, что Шарлотта и Энтони часто не понимали друг друга и даже подбешивали. Никакого взаимопонимания с первого взгляда и полуслова, как это обычно в подобных книгах. Вполне вероятно, что именно из-за этой реалистичной детали, так и хочется верить истории, рассказанной автором, словно вот такое и правда могло с кем-то произойти в этом большом мире.
А еще автор наградил Шарлотту замечательным чувством юмора, я улыбалась всю книгу. Так что завернитесь в большой теплый плед, налейте себе кружку горячего кофе и насладитесь этим небольшим, но очень важным приключением Шарлотты и Энтони.

This book is adorable! It reminded me a bit of Dash & Lily's Book of Dares since it takes place at Christmas. I really liked the characters, especially Charlotte. She reminds me of myself, except she's so much stronger! I loved that about her. I wish the book had been longer though... I read it in one sitting! "Persigue tus sueños. La mayoría de ellos no se hacen realidad, pero al menos podrás decir que lo intentaste".
Me recomendaron muy, mucho este libro como lectura navideña por ser fácil de leer, sencillo y romántico. Y bueno, sencillo es, demasiado diría, y hasta simple. Fácil de leer, depende, a ratos aburre así que... Y el toque romántico lo tiene, eso no lo niego, pero a mi no me ha llegado.
Aburrido, soso, simple, plano y muy predecible. Personajes superficiales y una historia sin sorpresa ninguna. Le doy 2 estrellas por Nueva York que es de lo poco que merece la pena en el libro, aunque podría haberse explotado mucho más.
Total que llevo una racha de libros navideños, y lecturas en general, malas, malísimas. A ver si el próximo es de los buenos y acabo este 2020 tan extraño al menos con un buen sabor de boca.

As the holidays grow near, reading books like this is like savoring my favorite cookie. They are sweet, but they also evoke the feelings of the holidays and give us the warm fuzzies, which is welcome as the days grow colder.
Charlotte and Anthony have both been dumped and they serendipitously meet at JFK. Charlotte is dismayed at the prospect of a night alone in a random hotel room while she waits for her flight back to London. Anthony is reluctant to join his family for reasons we find out later in the book. They decide to follow the advice of a self-help book and forget their exes. A night of adventures ensues and NYC becomes a main character in the story.
I picked up this ARC mostly due to the plot occurring in NYC at Christmas. It did not disappoint. A big thanks for the opportunity to read this digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

I had this on my reading slump and I find this my comfort reading for the clarity on its plot. The book was not all magnificent but for now, I think it was enough to help me to get my momentum back in reading.
The flow was pretty much envisioned but I think it is still well made. I love the excursion that both of the characters have while trying to sort themselves out after the breakups. It was not all insta-love as you can see the author put it well for the characters to develop and progress from stranger to lover throughout the time they spend together.
For the most part, I am happy and satisfied with the book.

Прочетох книгата за няколко часа, влюбих се в историята, толкова много ми харесаха приключенията на Антани и Шарлот, на пътя който извървяха из заснежените улици на Ню Йорк. Книгата си заслужава, чете се изключително бързо и определено е много добро начало на декември.
