Born in Lancashire, I've been a teacher, bookseller and in a mad moment, a smallholder on the freezing fells of the Lake District where I tried my hand at the ‘good life’, kept sheep and hens, various orphaned cats and dogs, built drystone walls, planted a small wood and even learned how to make jam. I now spend the winter in Spain and summer in the UK. I have now published 48 books including many bestselling family sagas and historical novels. may 1945 the war has ended and evie talbert is overjoyed to be abled to get all her family back together. but its not that easy a lot has changed and not for the better. this is the third in the trilogy that i have really enjoyed right through, this author writes wonderful books and they keep getting more enjoyable. recommend to all saga and war readers
Prepare to meet the Talbert family in this post world war two novel. The mother Evie in the beginning has lost track of where her three children are after the war finishes and when she does eventually find them again she realises that they all have had traumatic experiences that have left them with emotional and behavioural problems. When her husband returns home she finds he too has problems after being a pow. It's up to Evie to try and bring this family back together again and after many set backs, money problems and job worries, she finds herself at the mercy of a most nasty man. As the story progresses the family goes from strength to strength and goodness in her family overcomes the badness in her previous employer. An easy read that will appeal to anyone who enjoys a good wartime saga.
I Really Wanted To Like This Book .. I Did Enjoy The Basis Of The Story But I Struggled With The Speech. I Know The Author Has To Set The Scene And Share Details That Are Relative But It Seemed Very Fake And Repetitive. From Reading Reviews Before Writing This, It Seems This Isn’t One Of The Authors Best Books So I May Give Another One A Go
At first I was very confused as to who was who as it jumped between the characters. It was an interesting book although it felt quite shocking at times. I'm glad that the police were involved at the end. I also felt that the epilogue at the end gave me consolidation to how there lives went on afterwards and the fact that they do all live happy lives in the end.
