The was an amazing book. It shows you how these “animals” will say little lies or do little things to get away with so much, and in the end become who they hated and worse.

Never in my life have I felt such animosity towards a book. I feel sick and violated by it, which is the point of the book.

It is childlike in its story telling and on the nose about every metaphor and simile. In this case I see it as a strength. If you want to warn the masses, you write for the masses. This book is unequivocally and unapologetically about the dangers of corrupt leaders and unchecked power. It is a book that should be on every curriculum in every school in every country, for we have forgotten its warnings, and are repeating them in real time.

Never have there been a more poignant and accurate portrayal of reality, and it was written 80 years ago.

I can see why this is regularly studied in schools. The satirical nature allows it to highlight the "those who don't learn from the past are doomed to repeat it" message along with the message of power being a corrupting force in a brutal and in-your-face way. Still just as relevant an observation as it was when it was written

Tengo que volver a leer libros felices porque leer 1984 y Animal Farm al hilo te deja mal (mis próximos libros a leer son Un mundo feliz y Fahrenheit 451,,, quién le dice)
La idea del "cuento de hadas", como dice el subtítulo, pero metáfora del Stalinismo y las revoluciones corruptas en general es fantástica. Y la verdad me gusta que George Orwell te deja clarísimo lo que te está queriendo decir, no deja lugar a especulación o dudas. Al final literalmente te dice los animales de la granja son la clase baja y los chanchos son la clase alta gobernante opresora, por si no habías entendido.
La pasé muy mal con Boxer y la estafa del trabajo duro siendo recompensado por el Estado. Y con el hijo de remil putas de Squealer y su manipulación.
Bueno, librazo, subrayé un montón y lo dejé lleno de post-its. Te amo JorJor.

For me, "Animal Farm" was always this one book that I heard people make references to, or just generally talk about. Finally, being in my twenties, I decided to give it a try. I really enjoyed "1984", so why not to explore both "JorJor Well" classics?
And I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. At first I was sceptical, hearing that its about revolution and quite complex ideas, I thought I had to be in the right mindset to even comprehend what is written. Oh my, how wrong I was!
Hats off to Mr. Orwell for masking such complex political ideas as an understandable, digestive story about farm animals. I know it is quite an obvious aspect of this story, but it truly is amazing how clearly he presented such complex political ideas, masking them off as an animal tale. It is not an easy thing to do! That's what I loved about this book, I knew I read about the story about animals, but I felt like I was reading a historical essay. Very cool!

Animal Farm reminds me of when the news tells you people on average now have more to spend than before, or house prices have gone down by whatever percentage they like to throw at you. I think this book can be applied to many things in life, it shows us how easy it is for us to forget and to be lied to. How when we struggle in the system the system protects itself by making us blame ourselves. Yet despite the hardship and worsening conditions we will uphold that which hurts us because we don't know any better, being told we are free. But knowing we are not.

Brilliant and timeless.

More than 70 years after it was writen and it still is a perfect representation of what happens in many places. With recent "revolutions" in the last years that have ended with equal or even worse tyrants in power in many countries.

Animal Farm is the story of a farm where the animals overthrow the humans and take control themselves.

The story is a very obvious commentary and parody on revolutionary Russia, but also relevant on authoritianism and facism in general. I liked it.

Richtig gutes Buch, über das man schmunzeln kann. Die unterschiedlichen Menschen bei einer Revolution in Form von Tieren sind sehr gut nachgestellt. Man kann sivh zwar das Ende vorstellen, aber möchte trotzdem weiter lesen (habe das Buch in zwei Tagen gelesen)

Everybody's favourite class traitor George Orwell delivers one of the most concise and digestible parables about the slow creep of totalitarianism. He is also a fairly annoying writer. An enjoyable enough read.

Not much to say here other than it is quite excellent (if a touch repetitive). An allegory about absolute power corrupting absolutely. Timeless.
