After ten years of marriage to the only man she's ever loved, why is Angelina so unhappy?
As a wealthy yet lonely wife, Angelina Rousseau pours all her emotions into her paintings. She's so desperate for affection and attention, she finds herself willing to do almost anything to feel loved.
Her husband Nick is determined to provide everything Angie could possibly want, including finally giving her what she's asked for most—time with him. When what seems to be the perfect investment turns sour, he's arrested for real estate fraud, and then learns that being accused of multiple felonies is the least of his worries.
As has been the case throughout their marriage, Nick's choices negatively affect Angelina. This time, however, she's forced to part with cherished possessions to finance his defense and protect her future. When Angelina's carefully built walls begin to crumble, both husband and wife must examine their emotionally bankrupt marriage. But discovering what went wrong may not be enough to keep Nick from spending the rest of his life in prison.
Could "having it all" cost Nick and Angie more than they ever imagined?

At first I wasn't sure about it. Angelina was the wannabe other woman in book two and I wasn't sure about her but she was actually a very lonely person and was just trying to find love the n bad places. This one her husband is arrested for fraud and she has to figure out if she loves him or not and it is pretty realistic. They have to sell stuff to get money for his defense and he just was so clueless but he did love his wife. There is quite a bit of faith based story lines so it may not be for everybody, but it really was good. The ending was too quick and I wanted more vindication for him and a glimpse into a future with them and maybe kids. I may go back and read the first story but I don't know. The last two were really good.
In the conclusion of The Barn Church Series, the focus is on neglecting a marriage and letting it wither and die. While this is a fabulous topic, I wasn't swept away by the novel.
What I enjoyed about the series was the marital issues brought to light. My favorite was The Spindle Chair.
A no-holds-barred story about how difficult it is to save a deteriorated marriage with a word of hope for those couples willing to listen to the One who sanctified marriage to begin with. Only He can heal the hurts.
Shellie didn't sugar coat anything, but she did show how a marriage can be saved and the attitude the couple involved needs to have to save it. And she did more than that. She illustrated how those of us who are friends to the couple can help: an outstretched hand, a sympathetic ear, a nonjudgmental demeanor. Even admitting our own failures--especially when we've overcome them.
Angelina and Nicholas Rousseau have a beautiful marriage at first. Then it turns bad because he's not home much and has different priorities that seem not to include his wife.
What a great story. I stayed glued to each page all the way to the surprising ending. The characters were real and interesting. I cheered them on when their marriage began to fail. Then when Nicholas is arrested I wondered how this would all end.
If there wasn't tension in the scene it was building to that point.
A great story with an important message for all married couples. Keep what is important-important.
I loved the Christian theme, inspiration, and clean writing. This is my favorite of all Shellie's books. Definitely looking forward to her next book.
This book starts in the present and the we are tossed back to the beginning of how everything start with Angie and Nick. Their marriage started like most of ours, happy, full of ideas how love is all you need. And then life happens.
But with Nick his desire to have more money and give Angie everything he thinks she wants drives a wedge between them. The author did a great job of showing the real and raw thoughts that go through couples minds. We should go talk to them, reach out, but we don’t out of stubbornness.
I really enjoyed this book and how everything worked out. It wasn’t nice and tidy but it was real.
A copy of this book was given to me. All opinions are my own.
I am in love with this writer. Here stories move the heart and her words are beautiful. Abide With me is no different. A great conclusion to her The Barn Church Series. I rooted hard for Angelina and Nicholas to get back on track with their marriage. I love the twists in the plot and the where is your mind moments that sprinkle every chapters. Abide With Me story line can stand alone. But you’ll want to read the Spindle Chair and Sticks and Stones, the first two in this set. After reading all three I’ve decided if Shellie Arnold’s name is on the cover I’m reading it.
The title for this book is apropos as a title. Both Nicholas and Angelina has gone so far off course in their marriage, and some bad decisions really seemed to make things go further off track. This book contained some great romance, lots of excitement, and redemption for both of these people. I recommend this series of books for those who enjoy romance with a little mystery.
Nick struggles to give Angelina everything he thinks she needs. It could lead to them losing everything they have, including each other. Gritty and real, their story pulls you in, engages you in their life - at times cheering them on, and at others, wanting to yell at them to get their act together. I loved this third book in the series as much as the first two. Shellie has become one of my favorite authors
Another wonderful book that shows the difference between being religious and truly walking with God, and relying on Him. The characters are very real, as always, and you quickly find yourself relating to them. As with her other books, you won't want to put this one down. I forgot to mention on the other book, but you never have to worry about a cliffhanger ending. Each book is complete in itself, although you'll see many familiar people in each book. Great series!
Book 3 of this series was no disappointment! I do recommend that you read the books in order, as there were some spoilers regarding the first two books. Again, a marriage is in peril due to issues of both husband and wife. Something new was the implication of one or both of them in a crime. That really kept me reading to see how it would all come out!
A wonderful story full of spirituality, pathos and love. Once started I could not put it down. I love it's twists and turns and how it keeps you guessing as to what will happen next
This couple are emotionally separated from each other and spiritually from God at the start. Will they find their way back to each other and God? I recommend this author to any reader looking for an excellent read.
I have read the whole series - 3 books. At first I wasn't sure it was my type of books. But so glad I read them all! Well worth reading. Forgiveness, trust, allowing God to bring us through all the situations in our lives.
A great conclusion to the series. It was interesting to see Angelica's story (she was introduced in book 2), and find out more about her and her marriage. It's interesting to see the mistakes they made and the difference that a new perspective could make.
Loved this book. It is clearly a Christian novel, but it is true to life, not preachy . This couple faced their issues realistically, and experienced what a true relationship with God can do to heal hurts. I will read more of Arnold's books and pass them on to others.
This was such an interesting book. Kept me reading to get to the end. Good Christian context still was able to keep you wondering what decisions were going to be made. Good lesson in why money is not worth giving up your family. Would highly recommend!!
I lived this story. The author did a great job blending the truth of the word of God perfectly into the story. She challenged me in so many ways. A story of hurt and love and forgiveness.
