Wow...my first time reading a story by this author, and what a suspenseful, action thriller I found! This story is plausible, could happen easily today, with foreign enemies dealing with our intelligence officials and soldiers who anger them in any way. After the death of Bin Laden, there are many men left who want revenge, and working with others have nukes to use, to bring the 'Jaws of Death' to the Americans! There obviously has been so much research done for this book, every pages rings true, a very fast-paced story that grabs you and drags you along for the ride! We meet a university student who is doing a thesis on terrorist effects if they triggered a volcano. Her ideas are used by the enemy, eventually by the army to understand the horror the United States could be facing. The characters are perfectly explained and act according to their job. An absolute five star book, and anyone who reads Lee Child,Bradley Wright, Mark Dawson etc. needs to pick this enthralling story up! I received a copy of this book from Hidden Gems, who I thank as I am delighted to have 'found' a new author! I also am able to give my thoughts in this review so others may enjoy the reading experience of this story!!
This is a book I would read again, possibly multiple times. The plot was well thought out. The characters were appropriate for the story. A few things to consider for future writing; technical aspects of the equipment should be as accurate as possible (you referred to a Browning machine gun as a 50mm. It is a 50 caliber weapon. You also identified naval personnel as having the rank of sergeant. Naval enlisted are Seaman/Petty Officers. You are not the only writer to confuse some of these aspects of your book, and it's quite possible I am wrong about the two examples I provided, but having a technical shortcoming impedes the flow of reading. Thank you
Makes one stop and think. It is so plausible that it is scary. It grabbed my attention at the beginning and then lost me a little with the technological and extreme detail. Then It hooked me again when I could get back to the characters. One I finished I went back and read the section again where I was lost, because then it made more sense, and provided more depth. I sit here now and wonder about people out for revenge. About traitors, (broke my heart, but it is possible), about our intelligence agency and everyone who volunteers for this country. I received this arc from Hidden Gem and the thoughts and opinions are my own.
I VOLUNTARILY REVIEWED AN ADVANCE READER COPY OF THIS BOOK
I feel this book imitates the world as we now know it. Hatred for America leads other countries to join forces to destroy us. Loved the way the chapters led and tied to each other. The beginning chapter tying into the last one is simply genius.
A well written fast paced thriller that will grab your attention. This is the first book I've read by Mike Boshier and was not disappointed. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This is the first book from a new author. I expected a pretty poor attempt, just a boring pot-boiler. Boy, was I surprised! He has written it with the skill of someone very experienced. The plot is excellent and potentially likely to occur. There are enough interesting genuine facts to show he knows what he's talking about - he even includes some facts at the end which you can check for yourself. The story is multi-layered, covering events in multiple locations, but he brings it together perfectly. Once you start, you don't want to put the book down and when you get to the last 6 chapters, it's impossible to. Phones ringing, doorbells, cats crying - nope! You just want to read it until the very last word. Extremely well written and very enjoyable to read. Anyone who likes fast moving adventure thrillers with no fantasy but lots of realism will enjoy this.
Series of books following Lieutenant Deacon a leader of a deals team. First adventure to prevent a nuclear bomb exploding in the mountain of an island in the Canaries. One has already been made safe preventing devastation on American coast line. But continual fire from terrorists isn't making his job as easy as he first thought. Can't wait for next instalment
The blurb for this book really pulled me in and once I started reading kind of left me hanging. I really wanted to like it. I just couldn't get into it enough to keep reading. In fact, I haven't finished it yet.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a free copy of this book....
Some top Al-Qaeda leaders are killed by a SEAL team. A relative of one of them wants to seek some personal revenge against the Americans for this. He is high up and tracks the government moves of nuclear weapons. He hijacks an undercover transport and brings the nuclear weapons together with a kidnapped nuclear scientist. He plans to attack the American homeland with these weapons.
Bring together a female American student who lets a stranger into her life and tells him all about her studies. Studies that will have quite a large part in the plan being put together. Help from Iran, an ex USA Navy traitor, tales of a monster from centuries ago and SEAL teams fighting against IED’s and terrorists. This brings a lot into the mix.
The book is written with a lot of technical knowhow and terminology. Sometimes there is more of this than actual action or character building, which slowed down my reading pleasure. The story is still a real enough one, with action in many different countries, going from Spain, Hawaii, Iran, Afghanistan and Iran among others.
I received an ARC copy of this book from Hidden Gems and the story itself is a good one. The way it was put together just slowed me down somewhat, although I still enjoyed it. I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
