This book was given to me free of cost in exchange of an honest review. So here I am writing a review after reading the book.
Hmmm. Is the book good or bad? Did I like it or not?
Let me tell that a little differently this time.
From my very childhood animals and books have been most dear to me. Therefore I was super excited when I saw Lola the Buhund combines these two.
So one fine afternoon I sat down to read Lola the Buhund. It's a fantasy. Well I like fantasy. It's a book for children. I like that too. All's good. I cozied up in my favourite corner of the house and started reading.
Did I doze off? It was a lazy afternoon you know!
Suddenly I saw a white dog standing in front of me. And she was smiling. I was a little confused but I smiled back (didn't I say that I liked dogs!). Then she did something. She said "hi". The dog can speak! I was so dumbfounded that I completely forgot that I also can speak.
But the dog( being the smarter one) understood my problem and said "it's magic you know. Do you believe in magic?" I could just nod my head. And then she introduced herself " I am Lola. I am here to take you for an adventure. You in?
By that time I have gathered myself was really curious. So I joined Lola.

And WOW. What an adventure I had. I went to a new land named Prithvi . There I met a very kind good natured human being named Venice. A remarkably wise rooster (he can talk too), a kind hearted girl named Aurora. Two sages - grandmother and mr. Rose. A notoriously cruel witch named Reanja delle Catene di Ferro and her monster of a son. One new type of monster named Bogba'el. A caco spirit who thrives on the negative thoughts of the living beings.
Not only did I meet Lola and her gang but also came to know about their predicament. I laughed at Lola's sarcasm, cried at their loss, got scared when they were in danger and danced in joy when they survived it. I saw how they fought for their land, their people their sun ,moon and stars.
And when the adventure ended, Lola asked me "how was it?" I hugged her and replied in a simple word "beautiful ". Lola and all the others smiled at me. Then all of them bade me goodbye. Lola was the last to go. Before leaving she came back to talk to me one last time and said " don't ever loose hope . Bye till we meet again ". She winked (she really did) and vanished.

The hopeful Buhund fought the witch and brought back the celestial bodies which were onces clutched in chains by the cruel witch.

The dog with his friends embarked on the journey of finding out if the Grandmother, the old sage, was right about where the light of the land actually went. Crossing different hurdles and the Bogieman, which nearly ate the dog: Lola the Buhund, they went straight up North in search for the answers from the queen which turned out to be the main culprit, the witch, who deceived and married the king in order to ruin the order of the universe.

The dogs love for her human will tear up eyes.

In a world where the sun and stars went out years before, an unusually intelligent dog, her owner and some friends go on a quest to bring back the light. What can I say about this book? First off it is amazingly consistent to the intended audience. At no point does it delve into any ploy to bring in a wider audience. From the dialogue, to the plot and the action it is all straight forwardly a children's fantasy adventure book. At points it uses all of the standard troupes that is seen in tales for this age group, with a slightly new spin to keep things interesting.
The charm of this book lies not with dialogue, but with the honest purity of the message: that one should trust themselves, strive against evil, never lose hope and change the world for the better. This is something older readers will have a difficult time enjoying, but for the intended younger audience, this will help them figure out how to exist in our world.

It's been over a decade since the sun, moon and stars illuminated the country of Prithvi. What happened? No one knows, but the pitch-black conditions are dire. Amidst this darkness, a mystical elder only known as Grandmother delivers a young Behund dog to a struggling carpenter, Venice. Soon after arriving at her new home, Lola has three encounters with strangers that result in talismans being placed on her collar. Those events are soon followed by a visit from the spoiled earl of the royal family to collect a newly devised property tax, which ends badly for Venice and many of his animals. Despite the disaster, Grandmother believes she knows what the talismans represent, but to be sure she casts a spell on the dog allowing it to speak. The spell also unexpectedly extends to a rooster. Amidst this fantastical turn of events, the group sets out to visit the queen's castle, where Grandmother suspects the answer lies to the empty sky. Along the way a young lute player named Aurora joins the journey, a trip that includes stops in numerous towns, treacherous detours into the Nightmare Forest and Marsh of Sorrow, and unexpected helping hands. The story certainly requires some suspension of disbelief, as do most fantasy tales, but the heart of the story isn't magic, it's relationships. And that gives the tale some emotional heft. Along with writing the novel, Elbot Carman opens each chapter with an illustration of a pivotal moment about to occur. Even in the darkest moments of the story, the pictures add a bit of levity, with a few of the characters resembling Rugrats. "Empty Sky" is intriguing and often funny, and a frightening character introduced in the epilogue sets up the book for sequels. It's aimed at young adults, but any reader should be able to find something to enjoy.

Book Title: Lola the Buhund and the Empty Sky
Author: Elbot Carman
Format:  Kindle

Book Title:
The title of the book ' Lola the Buhund and the Empty Sky ' is mysterious and fancy

Book Cover:
The cover image of the book is a cute illustration of the characters in the story.

My review:
Did you ever think what will happen if the sun, moon, and stars disappear from the sky?
What if the seasons' summer, winter, and attributes like rain, wind, and clouds are also absent? The idea seems crazy but, in the story, it is what the concept is.

Lola, the protagonist is the Buhund dog that lives a life of farm dog with its carpenter owner. here is all darkness in the world. Lola solves the mystery. How does it solve, is what the story is. With a nice and unique storyline, the book is a nice read. What I liked most is the word Prithvi, which ins Sanskrit means Earth but the author used it for another purpose. I felt home when I read the word.

What I like:
1. The whole storyline
2. The character names
3. The sensible and honest narration
4. The story is suitable for readers of any age
5.  The mystery element which is a surprise
6. The cute illustrations incorporated in the story are beautiful

What I didn't like:
There is nothing to be disliked

Characters:
All the characters irrespective of nature are etched very well

Narration:
A very engaging and interesting narration is found in the story

Language & Grammar:
Lucid and easy language is found in the book.

My Final Verdict:
Sweet, Interesting, and witty!

Book Title: 4/5
Book Cover: 4/5
Plot: 4/5
Characters: 4/5
Narration: 4/5
Language & Grammar: 4/5
Final Rating: 4/5

Thank you Elbot Carman and @Booktasters for allowing me to read this book for an honest review.
I really loved this, it's well written and very interesting. I love how the main character is a lovely little Buhund dog named Lola, it was a breath of fresh air-having a dog save the world. I would really like to read more of Lola's adventures. Children of all ages will love this story.

A fascinating adventure story about a reclusive carpenter and his loyal farm dog, which want to save their dying planet, Lumea that's been doomed into darkness.
Owing to the author-illustrator's vivid imagination we can discover an unknown world under an empty sky, with a large cast of interesting characters. The quirky comic-style illustrations enhance the story well.
All children will enjoy reading this, especially dog lovers. I found the dialogue, particularly the repartee between Lola the Buhund and Rock the rooster very entertaining. Also, I was really rooting for Lola to succeed in saving her friends from the Marsh of Sorrows, for me it's the best part of the story. Readers will learn the importance of having hope and also, that dogs love unconditionally, and for Lola, sometimes that means making sacrifices.
It's an easy, fast-paced read, the simple prose flow and it's often very witty. I thought that some of the present-day phrasing used, didn't quite fit the setting, and that it required a wee more editing. This book will captivate its readers therefore I recommend it!

The story begins with a world slowly dying as the Sun, Moon and stars have disappeared from the sky. The last and best hope is a ragtag bunch consisting of a clueless youth, a mouthy rooster and an irritable hound named Lola.
This is a good old fashioned quest story in the same style as Lloyd Alexanders Prydain Chronicles. There is danger and thrills and some pretty nasty villains. All the characters are endearing and you really start rooting for their success. There were quite a few things which set it apart from other books of this type. The idea of a dog as 'the chosen one' with the human characters as sidekicks is unique. The magical elements such as the Swamp of Despair and the iron chain monsters are also a nice touch. Overall, I really enjoyed this story and I'd like to follow the further adventures of Lola and friends. It's a nice addition to childrens literature and adds some new elements to it.

This is one book that all adults and children would love to read. The premise on which the story has been built is very interesting. Not to spoil the fun of the book, but how the world would look like without sun, stars, and moon? Can you imagine what would happen to the people then? This whole book is based on one young adult and his pet dog going out to solve this biggest problem and the antics/emotions they both display all along. Having a pet at home, my kid could immediately get attracted to Lola's character in this book. Lola is what kept him going, though the concept it a little higher for an eight-year-old kid. But as stated earlier, the premise of the book and the illustrations, and the way story was being narrated holds the interest of all ages and no one can put this book down without finishing. Thanks a lot, @BookTasters for giving us a fantastic book for my kid to read during this lockdown.

This is one of those books which I wish I had read as a child. However, even as a adult I really liked it.

Lola is buhund dog who lives a farm dog with her carpenter human. 15 years ago something happened to the world which threw world into realm of eternal darkness. Will Lola save the day? One should read it to find out. No one will regret reading this one.

All characters are amazing. I personally liked rooster. Story moves in great way. Sense of mystery and adventure keeps us reading further and further. However, it needed tad bit of editing there were few errors here and there but those doesn't stop us from enjoying the books.

Illustrations are wonderful. One more star for them. Highly recommended for adults and know kids alike.

Lola brought me into her adventure along with Venice, Rook and Aurora to fight against the evil queen to save their sky from the darkness.

I love Lola speech “hope is one of the most important things we have; because it is only without hope that would we truly ever have nothing. That is why it is my sincere wish that my actions have given to all of you what I could truly never lose: hope.”

fiction, fantasy or real life I think what Lola said is relatable. Because without hope it means nothing. And without hope Lola might not save Prithvi and live a life in a darkness forever! Never lose hope!

If you take this book for what it is—a straightforward children’s fantasy in the vein of The Hobbit—then it’s quite enjoyable. Younger readers will of course love the animals and the dangers our party overcomes; older readers will appreciate the unique setting of the “empty sky.” If you have kids, this seems like it would be fun to read to them.

A book which I enjoyed reading being an adult and I am sure kids will love it too. Not spilling the story in the review. I must mention all the characters are very good and amazingly written. There is no wrong direction in the narration. The presence of adventures, thrill and mystery - all three are my favourite made this book unstoppable for me. Glad I read it and highly advisable to all.

LOLA THE BUHUND AND THE EMPTY SKY

Brace up all canine lovers! This masterpiece of Elbot Carman, Lola the Buhund, and the Empty Sky will walk us through nature, journey, and the ultimate purpose of a bubbly, witty, funny, and kindhearted, talking dog Lola. Lola will captivate our hearts from the beginning until the end of the tale.

I will manifest this beautiful line of the novel:

Humanity spends their entire lives learning how to love. Dogs, however, are born knowing how to.

Lola, with her equally lovable friends, Venice, Aurora, and Rook, will embark on a challenging journey that aims to change their world. Dark is their world for more than a decade, literally and figuratively. The sky is empty: no sun, no moon, and stars, no clouds, no rain clouds, all are spaces of darkness. Their world is lifeless. Their journey to find out what causes this darkness points out in one place: the palace of the Queen and her obnoxious son, the Earl.

Together with Lola and her friends, let us acquaint ourselves with some funny and seasoned sages. We shall revere their exceptional adaptability and innovation- the growing of the vegetables without sunlight and the likes.

Let us meet up with fantastic magical creatures, immerse ourselves in various tricky places as their mission pushes forward to recover the sunlight.

Let's not forget the presence and roles of the high spirits, middle spirits, and low spirits- Amah and the likes.

And oh, be at home with food along the way for sustenance, either plant-based; meat and or beverages, which are innovations from the current, no sunlight set-up and only require minimal light and heat like the sausage, which the major stuff is coming from a dormouse!

The author is sharp and dauntless to pursue the intricacies of the plots. It never shied away to touch social problems and engage in arguments.

A bonus, the author has a profound knowledge of dogs.

Overall, I find this novel very delightful and thought-provoking. It is light, meaningful, and funny. I laugh a lot!

To Sir Elbot Carman, hats off to you! I cannot wait to read the sequel!

“Lola The Buhund” is a story of hope, courage, determination, trials, evil, friendship, disappointment, triumph, magic, lose, adventure... Life!
It tells of the journey that Lola, her owner and friends, take on a quest to find the solutions to problems ailing their land.

It is a story filled with so much adventure — the writer brought that feeling out and makes the reader want to be in on it too.
It is imaginative and i found myself visualising, imagining, and wondering what it would be like to live in such a dark world with no sun, moon, or stars. Very interesting indeed.

The writer gave a perfect description of the on-goings in the scenes between the characters. And the dialogues were captivating and interesting, sometimes with humour.

I like how the author told the stories within the story seamlessly. And the backstories of the characters directly involved, such that by the end of the book, the reader has a clear understanding of each characters early life upto the present moment.
Letting the characters tell their own life stories in the dialogues or memories without veering off from the main story was apt.

This is a book that is interesting to read by readers of all ages — both children and adults alike. I give it a 5-star rating definitely.

I was given a copy of this book for free in exchange for an honest review via Booktasters and the author, Elbot Carman. Thank you so much, I am most of the time pleasantly surprised with the above average content that I am able to read.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was great to go on such a journey with the characters in the story. A talking and wise dog, Lola the Buhund, and a talking rooster? So possible in the context of this fantasy. Where did the sky, the sun, the moon and the stars disappear to?

It was a great adventure, with the human, a carpenter, and a musician, who joins them on their quest. It takes a while to get into the atmosphere and space of the book, but the suspense and wonder of the milieu keeps you reading. What is happening, and what is going to happen? Where's the light? We get the answers in the end. Just keep reading!

This book is fantastic escapism, and a fantasy that's worth getting immersed in.

Can't wait to read the next book.

Elbot Carman brings forth an interesting tale in Lola the Buhand and the Empty Sky. The story shows how Buhand was very hopeful and as such went on a fight against the witch.

In doing this, it ensured that the celestial bodies were brought back after they were clutched in chains by the witch’s cruelty.
The story also shows how the dog together with his friend undertook a journey with aim to find out if the Grandmother, considered an old sage was either right or not considering where the light of the land departed to. Subsequently, they overcame various impediments in their way, including the Bogieman who almost consumed the dog, Lola the Buhand.

The book has great depth and very well written in an adventurous way that takes you on a journey. This book is also specially designed especially for those young, adventurous and want to read an intriguing book.

It is a fantasy that is suitable for all age. An amazing storyline unfolds that makes it an interesting story to children and has immense good values in the aspect of human behaviour. I would absolutely read it for many more times just to get the magical feeling again.
The speaking dog acts as a tool that tells us how dogs feel about their human and how they are born with love.
Anyone who reads this book will have their hope restabilised, feel the friendship kindling and will ultimately believe that good always find its way.
I recommended this book to my teen sister and a friend.
Hope you have a magical time reading this book too!

I’d like to thank booktasters on Twitter forthis opportunity.

First off, I love how majority of this is from Lola’s perspective and not Venice’s.

Second, as much as I enjoyed it, I can’t give it five stars. While reading, I found myself skimming through half of it, especially the beginning and end. Something else I noticed were parts where I had to reread sentences because they didn’t make sense. Lastly, there were different fonts, mainly towards the end, which caught me off guard. I personally found it to slow me down.

Before I start, I just want to say that this story is so perfectly written. I loved how I was really able to feel the darkness inside the universe, like, even the premise of this book is so fresh already and how everything was so easy to read yet still so packed with value. It was so beautiful and even though I had to skip some part because how slow the pace was, it was still a wonderful journey. I love the characters and how they seem so honest to us the readers. I loved this. Thank you so much for this story.

The story is well written I was happy with the endings surprise twist. I hope to see more from this author and hope one day to see it as a cartoon series on TV. A very entertaining book, with exciting adventures and fun characters that children will enjoy very much. Lola and her friends will not only keep you up to date with all their adventures, but they will learn to trust themselves, to rely in the people they appreciate, as well as not to give up on their tasks, to maintain hope and to do the right thing, no matter that seems very difficult. I think children and anyone who loves dogs will enjoy this book.

It is such an adorable story! The characters are detailed, the plot is cute, the conflict is great, the words are very neat. I don't know how Earl actually works, but it didn't make me wander too much throughout the reading — in fact, I gained some new info about Earl.

The only problem I found was there are no page numbers. It was a little difficult to search for certain page. But easy, it's no big deal. I give this book 5/5✨

This was a delightful children's story. I thought it was very fun and quirky, with some fun and unique characters. Sometimes, as a child, I would read a book, and find I loved it so much that once I finished reading it, I would just pick it up and start from the beginning again. I could imagine this being one of the books that my younger self would have chosen to do that with. I thought the illustrations were very cute too.

This is a great story. Lola is sassy and good-hearted and they have to go on an adventure in a land where there is no sun, moon, or stars. This book considers how a world might function if there was no longer the sun to grow crops etc. but in a world that has more magic. The world has interesting and fun mythology. (Rook is my favourite character though!)
