From the illustrator of The Last Viking and The Last Viking Returns, comes a second graphic novel in the S. Tinker Inc. series. Sally has built a machine capable of enlarging any object, but when she tries resizing a slice of pizza she accidentally enlarges a dung beetle to scary proportions. As the hungry beetle rolls itself a dung ball large enough to crush an entire town, Sally races to fix her new machine but not before Sally’s baby brother Joe makes himself enormous and saves the day.

James Foley makes children’s books for children who read books. If you’re a child and you’re eating his books, you’re doing it wrong.

He is the author and illustrator of many picture books and graphic novels, including Stellarphant, Happy Barry Capybara, Secret Agent Mole, Bigfoot vs Yeti: A Love Story, Dungzilla , Brobot, Gastronauts and Chickensaurus. A bunch of his books have won awards from the Children’s Book Council of Australia and the International Youth Library; more importantly they also have some pretty funny fart jokes in them.

James has 4 books coming in 2026: Happy Barry Capybara Gone Bananas, Fuzzball, Oh No! and Amazing Astro Animals.

He is an ambassador for Books In Homes, Room To Read and the Barking Gecko Theatre Company. Legend says James can grow a beard in an afternoon. He is a massive Marvel movie nerd and comes from a long line of queuing enthusiasts.

He lives near Fremantle/Walyalup in Western Australia with his wife Renae Hayward (also an author), their 2 kids (wannabe authors), and a labrador called Frankie (not an author).

This graphic novel is a perfect mix of adventure and science. It introduces scientific facts in an hilarious magical realism concept. The storyline is rich in laugh-out-loud moments and lots of toilet humour.

This newest edition also includes a bonus story that features a stolen cloned pachyderm and a trip to Mars in Sally's latest invention.

Recommended age: 8 - 12 years

4.5 would be a better rating.
Sally Tinker is back and has invented a Resizenator! Great graphic novel with plenty of problem solving to be done (involving a dung beetle). Fun read which can work as a read aloud. So useful for primary schools. Use this to introduce insects or for firing up kid’s imaginations and even for drawing lessons. There are teaching notes available from Fremantle Press. Bonus!

This is a very cute and funny book. There is a little science, some serious adventure, inventions and hijinks. Poop humor is of course throughout the book but there's also a lot of information about dung beetles and scientific principles. This could he considered a graphic novel. I think kids as early as 2nd grade could read this and 3rd and up will love it. Boys and girls.

Charming story, well executed with some great female characters. A great book for kids looking for an adventure tale with a giant dung beetle in it. Lovely to read and very satisfying.
