This story no matter what is a great great hot read.
The author brings so much of it seems like herself to each read that your left gasping in all the right places and frustrated in others.

Hotness in the making and add a little lick or two and you've got the perfection in this book.

**I received this ARC in exchange for an honest voluntary review** Sad to say that I could not get through this book & pushed to even make it to the 56% mark. Was looking forward to this since it's way darker than anything Nikki has previously written. Normally I don't mind a dark romance but this didn't do anything for me at all. Both Luca & Sarah have addiction problems and are such contradictions that they just came off as annoying, Sarah more so. She's a stubborn woman yet she likes flirting with danger through her sexual encounters by being used and then she gets mad when she's called out about it by Luca? Seriously? Just a big no to this book :(

Oh my this story was a bit twisted with some darkness, addiction, and a little bit of mystery. The story of two people, Luca & Sarah who have known each other for a while but haven't seen each other in 5 years until she comes home to her brother Peter's funeral. Luca was Peter's best friend and promised him that he would look after his sister when she comes back. Sarah has lost her father and now brother and only has her drug addicted dead beat of a mother left. She needs a release and the only way to feel during her grief is to be used and abused by a man, she's a one night, no strings attached type of woman but when Luca answers her ad, he tries resist his urges that he has buried for a long time. Try as he might, she teases until he relents but he is hiding something from her and when she finds out it may break them....if he doesn't break her first.
Oh my the steamy scenes that had my heart pounding and needing a cool drink but what really got me were the characters. Luca was rough and gentle, cruel and sweet but that's what Sarah wanted and he delivered. I loved reading how he tried fighting his urges with her and how she completely surrendered to him, they both craved it making them the same kind of crazy. I also enjoyed how they stuck together where her mother was concerned and worked together to handle her. The mystery of why he wanted into the clinic and what he was protecting Sarah from was a bit of surprise as it was not what I had guessed but Nikki Chase did an amazing job of keeping the suspense throughout the whole book, wondering what the secret was. Not only that but there weren't jealous exes lurking in the background, there was sparks, there was steam, the writing and story flowed perfectly, the characters were flawed and addicts but their addiction now was each other...put it altogether and it was one amazing read.

Love how Sarah describes Luca “scadorable” when he looks both scary and adorable while in his dominant persona. He’s dark, intense, cruel, rough and gentle, while keeping Sarah safe. There’s an underlying conflict which involves her witch of a mother, and the real secret Luca is committed to secrecy. Great resolution and satisfying epilogue. Nikki Chase hits a homerun with My Brother’s Best Friend, The Dom. It’s intense, dark, and intriguing. She really knows how to stretch the secrecy until the end. And wow, lots of kinky, sexy goodness.

Now Sarah is left alone to run the family animal clinic. Grieving is taxing and Sarah looks to satisfy her addiction to dominant no strings attached sex to give her the pain she desires. Luca a tattoo artist was Sarah's brother's best friend and made a promise to him to watch over his sister. Luca's sexual tastes are just like Sarah's and when he sees her profile on a website he answers her request knowing he will protect her from the danger she seeks. Keeping his hands off of her is a problem since she awakens the darkness she begs for!

Impressive titillating read that pulls you into the story as you visualize each enthralling scene. Sarah and Luca have their dark and sweet side which makes them the perfect couple; their romance is blazing hot but the devotion they have for each other shines in this fabulously written story. If you treasure romance with a dark twist this is definitely a fantastic book for your library. {I loved this story so much, I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy.} Without reservations, I recommend this book.

This book has Nikki Chase's normal complex and slightly flawed characters which makes it so very good and enjoyable. There is a slight difference though: the intimate sex scenes in this book are much darker that her previous books. The plot line was also slightly darker and had more secrets.

This book takes place in Ashbourne, the same small town that Nikki's second book "Stripped" took place, but other than a passing mention of Sarah treating Jessica's dog when he was poisoned, the two stories and the characters never interact with each other. It was cool to have a previous book of hers mentioned even obliquely like that, but you don't have to read "Stripped" before reading this book at all. But now that I think about it, the main characters in both "Stripped" and this book are very similar in their tastes. I thoroughly enjoyed "Stripped" so it's no surprise that I enjoyed this book as well. If you have read "Stripped" and enjoyed it, I highly recommend this book to you. If this book looks intimidating and you want to see if you'll like it, then I suggest you try reading "Stripped" first.

Overall, I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys hot, steamy, HEA reads with powerful men and strong women. However, there are some themes in this book that may not be for everyone, so if you are offended by themes if drug abuse (past drug abuse, in the main characters, present in the periphery characters) or strong sexual themes, this book may not be for you.

This is a little darker than what this author usually writes but it is well written and I loved it.
Sarah just lost her brother and now she is alone, other than her mother who was never a part of her life and is a drug addict. Now she returns home for her brothers funeral and to take over the veterinarian clinic that her dad started and brother took over. Luca was her brothers best friend. He was asked to look after Sarah and keep her from hurting herself or getting into drugs or alcohol. Luca is trying to follow the last wishes of his best friend so he makes up stuff so that Sarah will move in with him. He tells her it is only until he feels that she has dealt with her grief properly and not in ways that will get her hurt or worse. She sees in him something dark and realizes that he is into the same kink that she is so she starts acting like a submissive to get him to do to her what she wants. He tries hard to resist but can only resist so long. Her mother tries to convince her that he is a drug addict and dealer but she doesn't believe her. When Sarah finds pill bottles at his shop that are from her clinic she has all kinds of doubts and moves out. When he finally tells her the truth about what he was doing with them will she believe him? Will they be able to work things out or will her mother continue to come between them?

Sarah and Luca are the quintessential representation of broken people. They both come from difficult backgrounds and they both share an affinity toward dark BDSM encounters. However, the way they discover each other's proclivities is by chance, and the development of their relationship crosses lines both of them have clearly marked. There are deep dark secrets extending from her brother's death, and they threaten even the smallest chance of these two finding any kind of closure. As outside influences work against them, we are left wondering if there will be any kind of happiness for these two tortured souls.

Ms Chase takes us back to the bare bones of erotica in this story, and keeps the majority of our attention in that arena, which is right where it needs to be. There is a such a base need emanating from these two characters, and watching them attempt to avoid their desires while quenching that need is a treat. The underlying story is important in that it gives us a reason for these two individuals to meet each other once again and gives them the necessary purpose they need to share the same space. But, the passion and hunger are real for them, and it really is entertaining to watch them try to avoid each other as long as possible. The story was hot and passionate and more than satisfying.

This was a kinky-hot story, of a promise made that somehow became permission for them to be together.

I received an Advance Reader Copy for My Brother’s Friend, the Dom written by Nikki Chase and voluntarily reviewed this book. Sarah Ellis returns to town to attend her brother Peter’s funeral and spies his friend Luca, who is now even more sexy, tatted, and has an ex-convict reputation that followed him to their little town of Ashbourne. She now intends to stay in town to run her family’s animal clinic, as she will be the only vet in town for miles. However, dark feelings well up after the funeral in Sarah, sexual needs that require her to be used and dominated.

Luca could not believe his eyes when he recognizes Sarah on his Kink-Chat site…he has a past with her that he has kept to himself, but now that Peter is gone, Luca is going to keep a firm hold on the promise he had made to keep an eye on Sarah. And it is a promise he is going to keep…if only he was not so drawn to her, even more so this time - because they were made to fit even better together, it seems. But what happens when their relationship is tested by Sarah’s suddenly caring mother? Trust is a huge element to their Dom-Sub relationship.

Sarah has come back to her hometown because her brother has died, Peter
helped raise Sarah when their father died. Her mother is a drug addict.
And disowned Sarah years ago. Sarah fights an addiction of her own. A dark
addiction, Sarah likes to be a submissive but only for strangers.
Luca is/was Peter's best friend for years, He is the towns tattoo artist.
Luca also inked Sarah and then had sex with her when she was 18. The next
day Peter went and had the same tattoo inked on his skin, That is the day that
Luca and Peter became friends.
Peter had secrets that he didnt tell Sarah but Luca knew those secrets and also
had a promise he had to keep for Peter. One of those promises was to watch over
Sarah and protect her. But when he happened to see that Sarah was on a dark site
and setting up a meet with a stranger for BDSM sex he had to step in. PuppetMaster
meets livingdoll. This book is dark, sad, with secrets, addictions and betrayal but
also has a great HEA ending. If you have certain triggers be prepared.

My rating on this book is 4 3/4 stars...I enjoyed Luca and Sarah's story. It was dark, hot, secretive , it had some parts that made you laugh, sign, have tears in your eyes and saying oh no! Sarah has returned home for her brother's funeral, not what she wants to have bring her home but never the less she is there for that reason. Peter was the last person in her life that she felt truly loved and cared for her. He raised her after their father died, she doesn't want anything to do with her mother as she is a drug addict. Sarah has an addiction of her own and Luca plays a part in that. They haven't seen each other in several years but she had fond an vivid memories of that last meeting. Luca was her brother's best friend, he has secrets and demons of his own! Because of Sarah's own secrets she doesn't do relationships only one night stands and seeks those out over the internet! She contacts someone called the Puppetmaster to silence those urges. This book has a dom/sub theme and if that is not your cup of tea then this would not be a book for you! I want to thank Nikki Chase for giving me the opportunity to read an advanced readers copy of this book prior to its release.

This was a different type of read for me and I wasn't to sure if I would like it. Turns out I really loved it! It's not as dark as I was anticipating but it was a lot darker than anything I've read before. I found myself sucked into the story and wanting to know what was going on causing me to not put the book down!

Sarah has had life toss her some not so good situations in her life and finds herself alone! She's lost everyone she loves and when things get out of control she turns to her one addiction. Luca has lived a life no one would wish on their worst enemy but he manages to keep it all together as best he can! When he discovers that the one person he is supposed to protect shares his same dangerous addiction all bets are off and he will do what he can to protect her! Can Sara and Luca find what they need in each other? Or does life have other plans for them?

I recommend this book for anyone who loves second chance romance as well as friends to lovers! Amazing book with gut wrenching twists but a story that will have you hooked from beginning to end!

Holy Moly, this book is hot - scorching hot! I've been a fan of this author for some time, and this book is just one more reason why. Sarah and Luca's story is a second chance romance, and it's deliciously dark and at times, absolutely heart-wrenching. Chase pulls out all the feels as she goes down the dark path of addiction and loss, but there's also hope and sweetness in this love story. And make no mistake, it is erotic and twisted at times, but it is, more than anything, a love story - love of family, love of friends, and love of that one person who can see your darkest parts and and still loves you back. There's an air of mystery about Luca and his motives, and he often comes across as a not so great guy, but there's also a sweetness that comes through when you least expect it. He and Sarah are so good together, both in the bedroom and out, and I couldn't help but root for their happily ever after. All in all, another great read from this author.

There is Sarah, who lost her father & now her brother. She is approached by his best friend, Luca. Luca tattooed her first tattoo and then did other things to her. She was leaving for college and said it was only a one time thing. She doesn't do relationships. Same is true today but now she craves something a bit darker. She hasn't indulges in quite a while but the stress of her brother's passing has deepened her craving. Her brother charged Luca with keeping Sarah safe. When he learns of her kink and that she is going online looking to be a slave to whoever will have her but only for one night, he know he needs to stop her but it also brings up his need to control and dominate. Will Sarah get what she wants? Will he be able to make it just a one night thing? Can Luca control himself and not really hurt her? You'll need to read the book to find out. I enjoyed this book and hop you do as well.

This is a dark, somewhat bleak story, about returning to a place you were happy to leave, finding the person for you where you least expect it, and secrets.

Luca and Sarah are both engaging characters, with secrets that could tear them apart. Luca has promised her late brother, Peter, that he will look after and protect Sarah, especially from himself and his dark desires. But does he need to?

His discovery of Sarah's secret, that she has equally dark desires, throws him into a spin at first. Eventually it does lead to a Dom/sub relationship, with scenes that make you squirm they are so well written.

It is Henry's secret that may tear them apart, with a push from Sarah's estranged mother.

Do they split up or is there a chance for a HEA?

The plot moves swiftly but in a realistic manner - there is no instalove, there is no glossing over their problems - it is gritty and down to earth.

Nikki Chase did not hold back in this captivating, hot, mind boggling read!
Going in, I wasn't sure just what I was getting myself into- was it a light BDSM, with a sweet story? Or heavy on the dark side with an HEA?
What happened when I started reading? I became quickly intertwined in a tale deep dark despair, addictions of all kinds, loss, grief and how Luca and Sarah use each other in ways some may not find 'reasonable' to heal the demons of the past and present to find their light through all that darkness. With a heart tugging, make me want to hug it out romance blooming in the background.
Not at all what I could have even begun to imagine from this author- but I got to say, I loved every dark, deep depraved loving moment of it!
Nikki Chase has blown my mind with this one!
IMO This is an excellent dark tale with a perfect HEA- I recommend this to anyone who handles dark themes/ with triggers ( drug abuse ) heavy BDSM in parts.

Bel libro con trama e personaggi fuori dagli schemi. I temi affrontati, l’elaborazione del lutto e la dipendenza da farmaci, sono decisamente diversi dal solito e ben sviluppati.
I due protagonisti sono due personaggi intensi e sfaccettati. Luka è un solitario che accetta di interpretare il ruolo del dominatore solo per aiutare Sarah, non per provare qualcosa a sé stesso o agli altri. Sarah è una donna forte che ha saputo costruirsi una vita professionale, non la solita ragazzina ingenua che accetta di essere sottomessa perché priva di personalità e capacità.
La trama è ben costruita e non banale e il finale, per quanto lieto, non è la solita cascata di melassa.
Molto ben scritte le scene di sesso, gli elementi di BDSM non danno poi tanto fastidio perché sono giustificati dalla trama e questo fa sì che non si cada nel ridicolo o nel grottesco.
Purtroppo gli altri libri scritti Nikki Chase finora non sono all’altezza di questo, speriamo per il futuro.

When she is craving something a little darker, she goes online and leaves a post on a message board. She is looking to be used and abused one time only. She isnt looking for a relationship. Luka promised to watch over her and then he finds out about her kink and addiction. He wants her. He knows what she needs but he is afraid to let his dark side out. He thinks he will break her. Together they are beautiful. They share a darkside and a painful past. They learn to overcome the obstacles around them even the ones they placed there themselves. This book blew me away. It was sexy and dark, but also sweet, and beautiful. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy.

Wow! Not much to say about this amazing book. It is very well written. I liked the story line and plot.
It has instant love and attraction between the main characters. It has dark secrets and thoughts but these only give the story an edge to keep you caught up in the book. I had to read it in one sitting. There is an over the top chemistry between Sarah and Lucas. They are both broken and needs some one to help them out of their darkness. There is lots of frustration, gasping, passion, lust, attraction and emotions involved but they try to avoid each other. What happens? You have to read the book. No spoilers here.
I love the way Nikki Chase uses a style with the word to involve the reader in a way they feel they know the characters and that we are there. An amazing read and I can only recommend this book.

Loved Sarah and Luca's story. A steamy and dark romances, with a sadomasochistic Dom/Sub relationship. Sarah has come home to bury her brother and take over their fathers veterinary practice. Luca hasn't seen his best friends sister in five years. Her cold reception is going to make it hard to keep his promise to Peter. Watching out for Sarah. Then he learns her secret. While her total submission calls to his dominant nature he has to protect her form herself and him. Sarah has other plans. She sees a man how can provide the total dominance she needs. She proposes a no strings no emotional attachment mutually beneficial arrangement. Luca can't deny his attraction. Then they both start to feel.

Wish I had a hot, sexy, dom brother's best friend who wanted to take care of me! Whew...what a read! I love Nikki Chase's books, they never disappoint, and keep me up till wee hours of the morning as I can't stop till I finish the book. Sarah has returned home for her brother's (Peter} funeral. She is planning on staying and working at the vet clinic her dad and brother both worked at. Luca, Peter's best friend, is worried about her and essentially makes her stay with him. Luca has a secret ... Peter made him promise not to tell Vivian. The bedroom scenes are dirty and not for the faint hearted. Very well written story but I would expect nothing less from Nikki! Can't wait till her next book!

Wow!!! Luca & Sarah's story is unlike any of the other books that I have read by Nikki Chase. Such a hot dark romance!

I love that Luca & Sarah could relate to each other on a level where no one else could. I love their need to help each other. To lean on each other. Luca & Sarah together are stronger than when they are apart.

This book does have a dark theme so it might not be for everyone, but I got sucked into Luca & Sarah's world. I loved watching their relationship develop and reading through their trials.

I love Nikki Chase's writing! I am so glad that through this book I was able to see her talent of writing dark romance.

This is a hardcore BDSM in my experience which is a bit much for me. Pain is not part of steamy romance for me; however, this is still an excellent romance author! Sarah is a vet who returns home to bury her brother and is addicted to the submissive lifestyle needing pain and my perception of humiliation for the ultimate orgasm. Her brother's friend, Luca, is the consummate dom. There is enough romance for me to enjoy the romance but too much BDSM for my ultimate enjoyment. I can tolerate some light BDSM but this is more than that. I received a gifted copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review. I honestly like the romance and love this author!

So this is a different book in the way it came across. I really can't put my finger on what made it different in the other dark and sexually charged books that I have read, it just was. But so not in a bad way. This is a great read and man what a read. It deals with a lot of the way addiction comes across, whatever your addiction may be, cigarettes, drugs, or the way your sexual cravings maybe. In this case, Luca and Sarah have needs that they feel must be met and come to find out they can help each other out. This is a hot book that needs to be read. One hot read

Sarah and Luca's story started out being a sexy, kinky read as a result of personal choices. Then the story developed a very real depth as it explored needs and the tragedy of early death and palliative care that is not very caring. I really liked the messages in this book and how Sarah and Luca rose above the sad and bad things that had come before and grew together. Misunderstandings and deceptions and a mother from hell, but they set those things aside in the end and realised that love does conquer all. Really good read. Nikki Chase writes a very good story.

I have read and enjoyed all of Nikki's books but My Brother's Best Friend, the Dom might be the best one to date. This is not a lighthearted story but I was totally immersed in this emotional story from beginning to end. Both a little damaged, Sarah and Luca are great characters, well-defined and three dimensional. The connection between them is amazing. The sex scenes are simply scorching! Their story is heart-felt and emotional and really touched me. I loved it.
