A life of darkness only pays while the sun stays hidden.

The shadows of the past follow me no matter where I turn. Mistakes I thought were long dead and gone seem to nip at my heels and tear at my soul.
I’m not a good man. Not worthy of redemption.
As President of the Lost Breed MC, I fight, fuck and take what’s mine.
But everything changed in the blink of an eye, and now I got a kid, my brother’s kid. The teenage bastard is just like me.
And he’s gone missing.
My only hope is that the pretty cop down at the station is willing to help a criminal like me out.
My focus should be on the kid, but I can’t stop thinking about owning her, marking her, making her mine. She thinks she’s going to be able to resist me forever. She’s wrong.
I’m driven mad with the desire to gain her affection, to be the one that wakes her up in the dead of night to take advantage of her softness and remind her who’s King.
But what cost would the reaper require to give me such bliss?
And am I willing to pay it?

You bet your ass I am.

Ryder is a 55,000 word standalone novel in The Lost Breed MC series. No cheating, lying, but maybe a bit of stealing. It's an MC - come on! Hope you enjoy the opening novel in my new stand alone series.

1 Ryder and Dani Star

This review has lots of spoilers. If you want to read the book without spoilers then suffice to say , it did not work for me as the male character was hugely unlikeable IMO. No cheating but explicit sex scenes with two different women and the ending was HFN.

Detailed Review with spoilers.

I did not like this book , mainly because the main male character was so utterly unlikeable. I can't even call him a Hero because in my eyes he was not one. I always try and find a positive in a book but honestly , I struggled with this novel.

If you know me , you know that I love MC romances. I have read lots of them and it is a genre I have always enjoyed. I prefer them to be heavier on the romance than the gritty MC stuff but I will happily roll with the punches even in the edgier MC books. Equally, I am a fairly new recruit into the Mafia romance genre and am relishing each new Mafia World that I come across. But, what was this book? Was it MC or was it Mafia? I don't know. I'm still not sure.
Too many characters got introduced at once and for the first time ever , I didn't like anyone.

Ultimately , the absolute kicker for me was that the book opens with the male lead having explicit sex with the woman he has loved for over ten years. He hates her. He loves her. He had plans to marry her and have babies with her until she stitched him up but still, she walks into the bar and he has hours long , explicit on page sex with her. He is not with the female lead at this point but even when he is with Dani , I never believed in their connection. By the end of the book , I was not convinced that Dani and Ryder had a relationship that would stand the test of time.

To give an idea of how Ryder feels about Candace , his ex, here are a few quotes:

"I watched her go and sat down on a box nearby, my body spent and my heart aching. Candace was the only woman I'd ever loved, and some part of me still did."

""Ryder. It's been six months."
"Ten." I finished my beer and stood up, ignoring the tent my dick made in my pants. She had a way of making me burn for carnality. The things she'd let me do to her. Fuck. The things she'd done to me in our ten-year relationship. I was just a boy when she found me, but she grew me up as fast as she could.

"Why would you sleep with her?"
"I didn't sleep with her. I fucked her like a whore and kicked her out."
Axel let out a long, exhausted sigh.
"But why?"
"Because I still love her." I turned to him and glared down at him . "Shut the fuck up about it, or I'll treat you like a whore too." He held up his hands and nodded. "Alright. I know when to back off."
<>/b>

"Where I didn't want the woman in my life anymore, there was still a part of me that cared about her."

At one point near the end, he gets stabbed and nearly dies. Candace is dead at this point and the outlook for Ryder is not good. Whilst clinging to life by his fingertips he doesn't once think about Dani. He reflects on who he would meet on the other side.
"Maybe it was time to go. My Mom and Dad would be waiting anyway. Roberto. Candace."

Not only do we read about him having sex with the love of his life , Candace, a bit later we are treated to him having on page oral sex with one of his garage's customers. To be fair , again he has not met the female lead at this point but even so, I hate the hero or heroine of the book having explicit scenes with anyone else.

And finally , everyone is bonking everyone in this book. Ryder fell out with his best friend years ago. His best friend is also Candace's brother. The reason they fell out? The guy walked in to find Ryder having sex with Candace and the guy's Mother. Ryder said he had got high and thought he was having sex with Candace.

Candace becomes pregnant in the book and the suggestion is it is Ryder's baby (the dates did not work and there was no way it could have been) but in fact the father turned out to be Ryder's 17 year old nephew.

Ugh. I need a comfort re read of an old favourite now.

HEA? More HFN and I don't believe this couple would last.
Cheating? No. Both only slept with each other once together.

This was a pretty good read that I liked. Ryder broke away from his good friend Tanner and set up his own MC Club called the Lost Breeds he is the President. Ryder used to be with Tanner's sister Candace and things didn't work out between them because of drugs. Ryder is the guardian of his brother's son Jacob who gets into so much trouble and Parole Officer Dani who come to the club house. His nephew is getting too close to Tanner's crew and he will do anything to protect him. When his nephew goes missing he and Dani start looking for him. This two had a lot of sexual chemistry but Ryder is a manwhore. I did not like Tanner he will use anyone to get what he wants including his mother and sister. I really liked Dani she was a strong female lead and Ryder is a hot sexy biker who is a badass Alpha male. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Another biker book that needs a shit ton of trigger warnings. First being the OW drama that drags out forever in this book.

I didn't like Ryder, he was a huge dick for most of the story and the fact that he is so NOT over his ex pissed me off! There is nothing sexy or romantic about a hero who gets boners for another woman and isn't ashamed to admit he will always love/care for her when his supposed "heroine" is already in the picture. If Candace hadn't been written off the way she was, I don't think Ryder would have remained content with just Danielle. There is no way, after all his confessions of finding it hard to resist Candace, would Ryder not go back to her if she'd stuck around.

Things aren't much better when it comes to the heroine, Danielle is supposed to be a bad ass officer of the law but she's a spineless doormat heroine for a good lay, who has her own emotional baggage she needs to work through. The fact that she lets her lust for a bad boy lead her into danger wasn't commendable. More like grounds to commit her crazy ass!

Neither character was someone I could like, let alone root for. I honestly finished this because I'm kind of OCD about DNF-ing books but there was nothing I liked about this story. It was graphic and had plenty of sex but emotionally it was a cold ass read that left me feeling dirty (and not in a good way!)

Would I recommend? I don't think I'd recommend this to anyone, honestly. I made it to 45% and then skimmed the rest to see if there was anything redeemable about Ryder. The short answer is hell no. And Danielle was a weak heroine who lets her hormones lead. Every. Freaking. Time.

First let me say that I read the book in one sitting.
From the moment I started this book, I knew that there would be lots and lots of sex, which I love with a good story. This book was heated! When I downloaded this book. I was expecting a real motorcycle club book, and this is not what I got. I’ve read tons of MC Romance books since I discovered them, and this was nothing like any that I’ve read. Where were the club whores, the old ladies? Where were the motorcycles? They work on cars…really?
I felt like the characters were all playing a role in movie. It didn’t seem real to me…no substance.
They did have the brotherhood, but seriously only seven brothers…again lacking the MC feel for me dawg (in my Randy Jackson voice). Although they were hilarious at times…but a motorcycle club that explains nothing about the club. As a matter of they were in the club once in the entire book. This was not a realistic view of a motorcycle club, but what do I know? I’m just comparing this with all the other books that I read this year. Maybe more research is needed on the motorcycle club lifestyle
I felt like there were missed opportunities for the author (s) to provide more details or character development. Honestly, I love my book with tons of sex—good sex. This did it, but it was almost like porn, but only with a story—barely.
I did like how Dani found her sexually, especially because her husband cheated on her. She discovered the woman that she really can be.
As I mentioned, there were missed opportunities for character development and I’m still deciding if I like Ryder (Johnny) or not. As a matter of fact, I am still deciding if I like any of the characters in the book.
Well I continue with the series? Yes, I will…as soon as I finished writing this review.
Just hoping book two has a better story and more substance.

It was just plain bad

I picked up this book because it was free and I don't mind an MC book, this however is not an MC book at all, other than Ryder calling himself the "President" and having a group of friends that have a clubhouse.

In all honesty it was just bad. I kept reading because like a car crash it was hard to look away but I was constantly rolling my eyes. Thank goodness it is a short story.

The H and h are not likeable and their actions are ridiculous. From the the way they speak, to their declarations of love - which is next level insta love.

I was put off straight away when in the first chapter we are getting a detailed sex scene of the H with his ex. Call me a romantic but I prefer the explicit scenes to be between the H and the h.

I think I get what the author was trying to achieve with the plot and there were a few paragraphs that were good storytelling but overall I found no redeeming or likable qualities in anyone, continuity was a bit off and there were unbelievable scenarios.

Sorry

This is a very fast paced action filled story. I liked the story but sometimes it seemed as of the story was so fast moving that I missed something. The timing of events seemed a little off. there must be other connected books. Dani and Ryder meet when she is tasked with finding his nephew. She is a is his probation office. When she meets Ryder, they are instantly attracted to each other and the romance progresses within a matter of days. Ryder is a the president of his small MC and at times seems like a good guy. Mostly he is a jerk. He has been hurt in the past by his first love. He is a straight manho. Dani is trying to avenge the death of her sister. She loses focus on her life. Her marriage collapses and her relationship with her father suffers. Both characters are easily manipulated and have some TSTL moments. Overall, I liked the story because of the action. The romance was ok.

A romance should never include pages worth of detailed sex of the hero with someone who isn't his heroine, especially when he's in love with this other woman for half of the book. Then he get a blowjob from another woman minutes before the heroine enters the scene and he's instantly lusting after her with another woman's spit still on his dick. A real prince of a leading man.
That's how this book began and it went downhill from there.

Not my kind of MC romance.

Dani has lost her sister and is a cop. She is on the sex crime unit until she meets Tanner king. Her captain moves her to Juvenile probation. She meets Jason and his Uncle /guardian, Johnny or Ryder to his MC gang.

Ryder enjoys being the president of the Lost Breed MC and he adores his family. Trying to take care of them and his nephew Jason, can be tricky. When he meets Dani something stirs.

When they figure out they both know Tanner and need to take him down things start happening around then. Can these two take Tanner out and keep their relationship or will his ex -girlfriend ruin it?

A fun and sexy read about second chances and making things right. A page turner that you will not want to put down and will hate to see it end. Great start to a series that you will want to get.

A first from this author for me and wow what a book. Not your usual MC book but brilliant none the less.
Ryder is the tough MC Pres who has a twisted background with a guy called Tanner. This Tanner is evil and has a female cop chasing his tale with something to do with her past. She and Ryder fall for each other and fight together in a twisty turny path to bring him down.

Not for me!

I read lots of motorcycle club books. Great cover. Just the worst writing I have ever read in a club book. Gonna delete from my Kindle now....

This book isn't bad but I had hoped for a little more. She is a copy after her sisters killer. He is the man from the wrong side of the tracks. They are both after the same person. Ryder falls quick and hard for his brother's son's probation officer. She feels the same. They both fight it until she gets kidnapped.
Dani knew before she even met Ryder that she was attracted to him. After one failed marriage she wasn't ready for that type of commitment. Until the moment she actually met Ryder. From there those two where on a whirlwind of violence and love.

Definitely a page turner! It was really good! The story was hot, gripping and full of action! Couldn't put it down! Ryder is so intense! I loved him but in real life he would scare me to death. Dani was a cop who will do what she needs to to get her job done. I loved these two together. Hard, sexy biker and innocent, hard working cop. Once they get together its like an inferno. I loved this book! My first book by this author and it won't be the last!

Ryder is the president of the Lost Breed MC , he's used to answering to nobody and getting what he wants ..no matter what , but his brothers teenage son's manic attitude and poor life choices are about to help launch a feud between two enemies ...Even with a female cop in the crossfires .
An MC president and a cop ..Well I thought I had read them all.
This was a suspenseful , exciting storyline full of twists and turns that kept me interested . Who doesn't like a Sexy, Dominant Biker that ends up falling hard for a strong female. That was Ryder and Dani they both had their own issues and hang-ups to deal through, but The forbidden romance between them sizzled in the bedroom , while everything around them exploded into a chaotic war zone that I felt ended abruptly . I wanted more of just them .

The storyline was good but I am a huge fan of MC and to be honest I was very disappointed by this book. I can’t really say it’s a MC story, because I was waiting to read about the life of an Motocycle Club. Where were the club whores, old ladies, all the different title that make a MC and the drama???!!

Not my style

It was easy to skim through this book because it isn’t my style/genre. I have no understanding of the violence that consumes some people neither do I understand how women can have such little respect for themselves. So rather than read the book, I skimmed it.

Another MC book that was different from the norm. Thankfully. I ended up enjoying this story- even through I struggled with it being written in past tense form as things happened in the present tense- therefore causing my mind to reword everything as I read along.

Ryder was not your typical Club President- but neither was his MC. They were about living two lives, in a way. They had real honest jobs and liked good honest women.

I'm glad Dani had a good head on her shoulders. She needed it for the games that were being played though out the book. She wasn't a doormat, stupid, needy heroine. Nope - she could handle her own.

I liked the relationship between Ryder and Dani, as well. And thankfully he wasn't stupid in some areas either.

I thought there was a good little twist towards the end. It surprised me. And I liked the whole issue with the bad guy, cop, and MC.

Over all- good story. I'll be interested in more about this MC, but I would like it to be written as it's happening and not as if it already happened.

Mc and mafia book are my all time favorites. However they can be difficult to write because there is a fine line between good and absurd. This one wasn't so much absurd it was more a that the duel between making the H a good hearted guy and a bad ass that damaged everything. It just bored me. This one wasn't for me.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book...

I love the authors of this book; however, I was a little disappointed in the story-line. The plot had potential. Ryder wasn't your typical bad boy mc president which put me off a little bit. Dani was just naive with no backbone for a vice cop. The story was fast paced and really lost some of it's appeal because of it.

Well written but I didn't really like any of the characters. At the beginning I at least had some sympathy for them but by the end I didn't give a hoot about any of them but the female lead and she barely caused a blip on my radar.

***I decided to review an ARC of this book.***
A late ARC thanks to previous kindle issues.

Dani and Ryder

Very cute story of a good cop, bad biker, there just wasn't enough of it. Ryder was over by 19%, and just don't understand that. I would rather just read a cute, short book knowing that's what I'm getting myself in to, than a short book with a lot of other stuff I may not be interested in.
Cute story, could deal without the extra.

It was a horrible book, thank god it was free! Honestly it was cliche. The h was a pathetic, weak, and inexperienced cliche. All the H did was sleep with ow. I mean the first few times we got to read his POV he was screwing some “wh*re”. H walk all over the h and she was just like “wow he’s so hot”.

There aren't a lot of good things for me to say about this book. I did not like Ryder one bit. I'm all for an over the top alpha, but Ryder was way too pushy and didn't understand the word no. He didn't care about anything but what he wanted it when he wanted it. I didn't like how he basically forced himself on her every time. This story wasn't for me.
