Sir: The Awakening

Rate this book
Nate Stone is the kind of man that makes a girl fall–fast and hard. I can’t let that happen if I want to protect my heart. But if I take what he's offering, will it be enough?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hollywood heartthrob Nate Stone returns to his south Louisiana hometown to direct a movie, but once he gets there all he can think about is the pretty waitress at the local diner. Tori Wilson knows that the smoking hot actor-turned-director will stop at nothing to get her into his bed, but he can only offer her a short affair–and he’s asking for a lot more than simple sex. Tori has never wanted anyone as bad she wants Nate, but is she willing to let him take control when she’s already been burned before? And if she submits to his commands, will he dominate her heart?
For the health of my tablet, I am calling it a day. Don't let my DNF deter you as I still think the writing is very good but the hero is just too big of a douche for me to get onboard with. And, just an FYI, but this also ends on a cliffhanger and I don't see myself being invested enough to continue. So best to stop while I am ahead.
I've read the first instalment to this story when it came out and i had to give D.L. Hess props for creating an interesting story for her debut novel. Now that i was a little more comfortable with her writing style, i was really hoping for the second book in the series to grab me as it did its predecessor. First, i have to applaud this author for her thorough, and simple, way of explaining what BDSM entails and how each individual who lives and practices it take from it what they need and what works for them. Personally, i felt that she managed to describe it in a way that doesn't lead to confusion.
4 breath taking dreams
While i liked Tori and Nate's story, i felt as though the story and their evolution [of their relationship] was starting from scratch... considering the previous book had ended in a cliffhanger, i was hoping to see a little more happen between these two other than the history of their pasts... that being said, i still found Tori fascinating and Nate intriguing and most likely catch up with them when the third instalment comes out, curious to find out what'll happen to their relationship.
Holy Cow! What a totally sigh moment book 2 in this series is. In Sir, The Awakening, Tori and Nate continue their flirtatious relationship. Nate wants Tori to relinquish herself to him and let him take control of her during their private times together. But Tori is torn. The first time she let a man basically control her actions we all know she ended up stranded in the backwards town of Boden, Louisiana with her heart and future shredded by Brady. Even though she knows Nate is nothing like Brady, Tori is scared of history repeating itself. But will it? Can Tori let him in?
The author has written a phenomenal storyline that will melt your insides. The breathtaking and sensual dialogue and gifts Nate uses as he attempts to woo Tori into his Dominant way of life is simply amazing. This is a definite must read but be aware it is a continuation from Sir Book 1 (which must be read first) and both books are so very worth reading!
This Reader is on pins and needles waiting to see where Book 3 of this series takes us! 2 Thumbs Up and kudos to Ms. Hess for this amazing sexy series that not to be missed.
Sir: The Awakeningis the continuation to the first book Sir (Book 1) of The Awakening Series, now I was one those people that thought this was the first book for some reason, the synopsis looked fairly similar to me so I ended up reading this book without reading the first and I didn’t miss much. The author gives a good amount of information to catch us up to what is happening at the beginning of the book. We are introduced to Nate Stone, a Hollywood actor whose success has made him famous and wealthy. He has conquered the film in front of the camera, and now he wants to make his debut as a director by filming a movie in his childhood hometown of Louisiana. It was all supposed to be business for him, but little did he know that Tori Wilson, a local waitress was about to change his life forever. Tori knows that he can only offer her a short affair, but the more time they spend together the more they start to fall of one another. It’ll be up them to decide if moving on to the next level is worth it or not.
While I liked the overall concept of the story, there wasn’t a lot of action in the book to keep me invested in the characters. Tori doubts herself a lot, but when she gives Nate a chance he doesn’t do much to show that he cares to have anything with her other than the physical aspect of their relationship. The story could have been so much better had it been one whole book instead of separating it in pieces. Overall, if you like this types of stories than it’s worth checking it out. ;)
The continuation of Nate and Tori's story starts back right where we left off. I'll admit, at the beginning of this book Nate was not my favorite person. Coming off as cold and judgmental with his thoughts, there were times I wanted to smack him upside the head. I'm still not his biggest fan at the moment, however, we begin to see his thoughts and opinions changing even though he hasn't realized it himself yet and I have a feeling over the next books he's going to be redeeming himself.
Tori is still sweet as ever and completely blind to her own beauty and magnetic personality. Still doubting her own worth and sometimes overrun by her insecurities, she not sure why a man like Nate wants her for anything at all. Taking the leap with Nate is terrifying for her, but she pushes aside all her doubts and jumps anyway. When these two are finally together brace yourself for searing heat! **Fair Warning** these books are cliffhangers, think along the lines of serials, but longer. Don't let that deter you from reading them at all! These books are impeccably written and will have you dying to know what's coming next.
This is book 2 in the series. Nope, I didn't read book 1, but I wasn't lost. However, it seems like it picked up right where it left off. AND it ends in the middle of their story. Not necessarily a cliff hanger, it's just that their story isn't finished.
Nate and Tori have some chemistry and it's easy to see they both want more, but Nate is in denial and Tori is hiding it. We got a lot of set up of Elizabeth and Chance's story, which was interesting, but it took time away from Nate and Tori's story.
Sir: The awakening
Book 2 picks up where the cliff hanger lets us off. Again, I love the novelty of the incredibly slow build up of this romance. Book one is a seduction and book 2 is a beautiful, steady build of relationship and trust. Of course now that this book is over, I want book 3 like now. These 2 books were absolutely wonderful and I cannot day one bad word! Hurry, go get these! Annnd, your welcome;)
I don’t really care for romance novels. They generally lack a plot of any kind. I bought and read this book because the author is a friend of mine.
However, I was pleasantly surprised. I never read the 50 Shades series, as I’d heard too many negative reviews, and the biggest complaint was that it presents BDSM in a very unrealistic light. Now, I’m not in to the BDSM lifestyle. However, I don’t judge at all, and I appreciate that this book provides a realistic viewpoint of it. There are explanations for why Nate does things the way he does. I enjoy the internal thoughts and dialogue of both Nate and Tori. And I enjoy that the first two books are setting the stage for the future books.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. I finished it in one day, as it’s fairly short, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have a plot, a good pace, or realistic dialogue and descriptions.
Since I read Sir: the Awakening1 & 2 consecutively I am going to review them together, though if want to read book 2 only you won't be lost. Book 1 is the backstory of how Tori ended up in Boden, Louisiana and working at the local diner when she should have been finishing up college and why Nate moved away from Boden and stayed away until he had no choice but to return. After meeting and getting to know each other, Nate and Tori start a sensual but temporary affair. Book 2 opens where the first ended as Nate and Tori take their dance from sensual foreplay to smoldering tango.
Both of these books are geared more to the emotional connection between Nate and Tori. If you are expecting scorching BDSM scenes, leave that thought behind. These are instead the story of the mental play engaged between a Dom and sub as they explore their attraction before they physically engage. D.L. Hess methodically builds her characters letting you into their minds and emotions as they, in turn, build trust between each other. Focusing on the mental allows the tension to ratchet up as Nate and Tori's secrets are unveiled to each other and the reader.
This is a slow burn read that, while not a cliffhanger, does not end the story. This is a continuing series with the next installment coming in the Fall of 2017.
Nate Stone moved away from his Louisiana hometown to L.A. and made it big as an actor. Now he is back to film a movie and is spending his free time at the local diner... and with a certain waitress.
Tori Wilson ended up in Louisiana after following an ex boyfriend, and when the relationship ended, she had nowhere else to go. When Nate rolls into town and shows an interest in her she can not fathom why he is paying her any attention.
But Nate has a proposition for Tori...
This was a good book... I really like Nate and Tori, and the writing is fantastic! But... while I enjoyed the storyline, it moves way too slowly. This is the second book in the series... and it is basically just a discussion about wanting to have a no strings attached relationship. Things just start getting good and then... cliffhanger.
I would have loved this to be one book that told a whole story, and then a second book about Nate's brother, etc. But, it has a lot of promise... and if you love an EXTREMELY slow burn romance, this one is for you...
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
Sir: The Awakening is a slow burn book that has me wanting so much more! Nate is finally ready to take the next step with Tori. The arrangement? To live in a new world of pleasure. The catch? This can only be about the pleasure and enjoying each other. Nothing more, no strings attached. Tori has a lot to think about. But she can not say No and miss a chance of a lifetime. She has a different connection with Nate than she did with her ex. The one that only goes back to her when he wants. She has to try and see what she has been missing out. And boy! Nate rocks her world.
I have a feeling that Nate will not want to let go after he has a taste of pleasure with Tori. The book ends in a cliffhanger, but it was expected. I loved the story line. I am wondering what will happen if Nate's brother comes back into town to find secrets that were kept from him. This story has the sexy and the drama. You will get hooked into this book and will not want to put it down!
So this is part two of what I am assuming is a novella series, you MUST read part one before diving into this one, its just a common sense thing. Nate has given Tori some things to think about and is waiting for an answer to his question. He just needs Tori to trust him, and they can move on from there. When Nate has to go back to L.A. and Tori reads some very interesting headlines, will they even get the chance to give this relationship of sorts a try?
Giving us some drama, and actually dipping into some sexy time in this installment, I found this to be an ok read. Once again it feels like the author just gave us a chunk of a book that she wrote and cut into pieces, I would rather have the whole thing, I find that I forget what has happened in previous books. This gets 3.75 stars.
In this book it picks up right where the 1st left off. I would recommend reading the 1st. In this book Tori and Nate's relationship continues. Nate wants to take full control when he is with Tori. Think BDSM. I felt that sometimes what he said came out wrong. Tori is just as sweet as she was in the 1st book. She questions herself whether or not she can go along with what Nate is asking. She doesnt want to make the same mistake twice. You get to read both pov's just like book #1. So you get to read what both are feeling and going through. I cant wait for book 3 to be released later this yr.
This is book 2 in the series and you MUST read book one. Also, beware, this too will end in a cliffhanger.
I loved the slow burn in the first book and the buildup of Tori and Nate's relationship in this one. Even though Nate was not my favourite male character in the first book, he is starting to grow on me.
There is the perfect amount of drama and romance in this book to keep you wanting you to read more and the chemistry is scorching hot.
Indefinitely recommend the series, the books are great and you will get engrossed in the storyline.
I received an arc and volunteered a review.
Intense and sexy story. I had not read book 1 so I was a little lost understand the history of these characters. However, overall I enjoyed the story of Nate and Tori. Fast paced and full of drama. Nate is not my favorite character as he tried to get Tori to trust him. The build up of the story was fun to read.
Nate and Tori become more involved in their affair and they become even more obsessed with each other as they do. But is sneaking around and not showing their true feelings going to be enough? We will just have to wait and see. Hopefully the next installment will be out soon.
This is book 2 in the Awakening series, I didn't read book 1 and was slightly confused about their backstory at first. I highly recommend reading book 1 first. This was a quick read but with a good pace. Nate will make you want to smack him and I don't know if I like him or not, still on the fence. I think Tori saved this for me and I am interested to see what happens next.
This does end in a cliffhanger.
